Been rocking Q-Tip's "Kamaal The Abstract" the last few hours. Fucking AWESOME album. Strings, keys... what he does best with beats. I've been listening to a lot of Ummah mixes lately, so I was really ready for this one.

Do You Dig U and Make It Work are my favs thus far, but the whole album is great stuff.

i haven't kept up on the news with kamaal the abstract's actual release. i've had the bootleg for a few years and loved it. i wonder if it's gone through any significant changes.

if it's just a VMA, than what's the problem that he interrupted her?

Seriously?

It's just a VMA so why the fuck would he care who wins, especially in a category he wasn't even nominated in/eligible for, except that he's a prick who didn't want to see a white girl win over Beyonce (btw I think Beyonce went on to win Video of the Year).

Now that doesn't means it's not a big deal for the 19-year old girl who was in front of countless celebrities and on national television giving her acceptance speech and got interrupted by an uber famous musical icon saying "you didn't deserve to win this, Beyonce did."

Do you really not see that?

Kanye's haircut was baller though.

he didn't say she didn't deserve it, even said he was happy for her win, just acted like a horned up male and claimed that beyonce's huge thighs made one of the best videos of all time. it was rude, but what he actually said really wasn't that insulting.

It was rather discourteous.
i never said it wasn't.

Fro
September 15th, 2009, 10:40 PM
Of course it was insulting. While he didn't literally say she didn't deserve it, he said Beyonce's video was better. The key word was "I'm happy for you BUT..."

I mean it's not like Kanye being a douche is news, this is his MO.

Morrison
September 15th, 2009, 11:23 PM
that's where we differ, i don't find it insulting at all, because i'm almost positive he wasn't going up there to shit on fucking taylor swift and really claiming that 'single ladies' is one of the best videos ever.

because i don't live in a dream world where everything and everybody has to be polite. interrupting her stupid speech may of been a bit rude, but i do not believe his intentions were to put her down and belittle her work, so i really see no problem with his drunken antics.

You acknowledge that he was rude; the problem is that he was rude without provocation. Are you trying to play devil's advocate and just failing miserably, or do you routinely need the obvious spelled out for you?

i don't care if it was without provocation. people can do rude things without being provoked while still not intending for those actions to be malicious. he was attempting to make things into a spectacle but unfortunately did it at the expense of someone too meek. i'm not going to call him an asshole because of it and i'm not going to look at the event as problematic, especially when he's already apologized for unintentionally upsetting her.

Cudi: http://www.mediafire.com/?mmln0yn4hi2 - there you go.

Don't expect anything resembling the mixtapes though. I wouldn't even categorize it as hip-hop, but its still awesome. I'm biased since he's from 20 minutes away from me, but it's an AOTY contender for me.

And how can anybody seriously be pissed at Kanye over this? MTV has always promoted the VMAs as a circus. People have said "Oh, Kanye!" everytime he pulls a crazy stunt like that (Justice?) not to mention the entire incident has helped Taylor Swift's career more than the award ever could've (and this was not anything close to her first big award) If I didn't know any better and just saw the Leno interview I would've thought he was a child pornographer or something.

I think the image of a scary black man with a tribal haircut and leather shirt scaring a lily-white American sweetheart-country singer has caused America to flip a shit, especially given the context of the climate that the country's been in.

and Obama's a bigger jackass than Kanye ever could be. Truth.

Beyonce's video...

http://www.eguiders.com/img/exclusives/posters/Nagging.jpg

Boom. That's it. I don't think there's anything outstanding creatively about this. I'm a self-admitted Beyonce hater, but objectively, I don't see what's so epically awesome in a creative and visionary sense about Beyonce dancing. Is she hot? Yea. But just because you're hot doesn't mean the video was great. If we went by that scale, I'm pretty sure Entourage would be considered the best TV show in history and Transformers would be Oscar-nominated for best picture.

I haven't see the Taylor Swift video either (honestly don't care to cause I dont watch videos like I used to) but I'm pretty sure there was actual substance to it. Then again, the logical people at MTV voting gave Beyonce video of the year and Taylor female video of the year (wtf)

Fro
September 16th, 2009, 3:26 PM
Yeah race really has nothing to do with it except for probably being Kanye's motivation. Tribal haircut? Come on that's like a $500 haircut.

I like Beyonce's video a lot tbh. Obviously the main draw is that it makes my cock tingly but it also has some cool 360 filming, good choreagraphy and fancy lighting/background changes. It's simple but executed extremely well. That said I also don't watch music videos anymore, probably only see 3-4 a year because they're almost all garbage.

Kanye is not a scary black man. He's probably 5'7 tops and dresses like a metro twat. Kimbo Slice, he is not.

Also, lets quit hiding behind the "America is racist" non-sense. Of course America has issues with race, but so does every other country. The only reason this comes up is because both sides of the political status quo in this country (and abroad) keep using this as a cheap way to malign their opposition. You've got Rush Limbaugh trying to incite a race war while Jimmy Carter calls Obama's detractors bigots. Obama isn't catching shit because he's black, but because he supports unpopular policies and nebulous legislation. Also, you know, he hasn't done a god damn thing while in office. Even my more liberal friends can attest to this.

If anyone really thinks that people are pissed because Kanye is black then they are either delusional or retarded. He's a self-aggrandizing jackass who just doesn't fucking get it. The guy should have fucked off after Late Registration.

Are you really comparing whats coming from the left to whats coming from the right in terms of race? Really? I'm one of those liberals who thinks Obama's been pretty (very) lousy, but seriously? Are you denying that there's been an explosion of racial animosity towards blacks in general from white folks on the right? Are you denying that the right is willing to embrace racism to oppose Obama or at the very least not oppose or distance themselves from it? Please. It's not coming from the Democrats. They're screwing things up on a massive scale on a daily basis, but come on. And if it is purely about his policies, why do the tea partiers not have a clue what Obama's actual policies are?

Billmatic
September 16th, 2009, 6:48 PM
From certain sectors, sure it does. And he was trying to make a case defending retarded right wingers by saying the left is doing the same thing, which is false.

I'm not saying anybody who was offended by it or thinks Kanye is a dick is a racist, but this is moving along a current of racist rhetoric hat is flowing through this country. Michael Eric Dyson talks about racial imagery and the reactions, both conscious and subconscious, it provokes and this is another in a long line. Granted, it's mostly coming from the same places that the other bullshit is coming from, but the reaction is astounding. Boycotts? Seriously?

Hey here's a thought. If you want to talk about politics and racism why not do it in the OT instead of hijacking the gd hip hop thread.

This had nothing to do with racism except, as already stated, in Kanye's mind.

Kanye rules, it made me laugh, its a fucking MTV award show. The comedy overrules the "rudeness" of it.

Maybe if someone did that at the Oscars or something it may be different but this is at best a muckaround award show anyway. Kanye's antics are brilliant.

Beer-Belly
September 16th, 2009, 8:19 PM
In what way were his actions brilliant? If he's just playing a character and trying to get publicity for Beyonce and Taylor Swift at his own expense, then that would actually be really clever, but that's probably not the case. Both women's reactions looked far too authentic for this to be a ruse.

Billmatic
September 17th, 2009, 3:36 PM
Well, what do you like about it?

Wale's pretty good if you want a progressive rapper who can write catchy-as-hell and flows abstractly. If you like the crossover aspect, "The Love Below" by Andre and "808s and Heartbreak" by Kanye are sorta similar-ish (Cudi ghostwrote a lot of 808s apparently). "So Far Gone" by Drake is over-hyped beyond belief, but still pretty solid and he's compared to Cudi because they're both new.

Interesting read regarding Ghostface's suit against RZA:

Last week, AllHipHop.com reported that Ghostface Killah had won a legal judgment against the RZA’s Wu-Tang Productions for over $158,000 in unpaid royalties. The dispute centered around Ghost’s claim that royalties from the Wu’s early albums should have been divided as a “promotional share” amongst group members, instead of the 50% split given to the producer (The RZA). Dogged by similar lawsuits over the decade by other Wu members, the RZA reached out to not only set the record straight from his side, but to also enlist the opinion of you, the AllHipHop readers, on this combustible issue. Whose stance do you side with? Hear out the Abbott and decide.

The case between Ghost and RZA is not closed yet. The judgment has not been entered yet, and we are appealing the case. I’m not appealing because I don’t want to pay Ghost something that I owe him. Anything I owe him I would give him. He wouldn’t have to go through the courts to get it from me.

An example is on Cuban Linx I didn’t charge no money on Raekwon for that. The last beats I did for Ghost was “Run” and some other sh*t, and it was the same thing. I waived payments for later. They haven’t paid me for those. So it’s not about me getting money. But he’s with a group of people who to me have a misunderstanding of Hip-Hop and contracts.

I have a legal contract with Wu-Tang Productions, matter of fact all of us do for 50% of what we get. We all signed that. We signed that years ago and maybe Ghost feels differently now, and I can respect that. But when it comes to the beats of Hip-Hop, how it carries on to this day is that the producer gets 50% of the composition, and the lyricist, no matter how many, gets the other 50%. So for them to say that’s wrong, and the producer shouldn’t get 50%, that means every producer is this industry can now have a potential claim against them from an artist. Remember, we don’t sign contracts in studios. So when Erick Sermon produced on The Blackout, he got 50%. When Megahertz produced “We Pop” for me, it’s me and four other rappers. Megahertz got 50%, and me and the other rappers had to split the rest of it.

Now if there’s an unknown producer that I’m using and I’m trying to break him in, I may lower his cut if I got Meth and GZA on there. Like “yo, you’ll have to fall back on some of that s**tbecause we’re going to ship 500,000 units and that’s where you’ll make money.” Those types of cases I could see it being different. But 90% of the cases in the game the producer gets 50% and the lyricist gets 50%. And on Ghost’s new album it’s going to be the same case. So for me to be in court and the argument is my split is wrong and has been over the years [is crazy]. They added up the years and said “if you would have given him the portion due it would be $158,000.”

They’ve made millions based on my beats and bringing forth the reality of the Wu-Tang Clan. If I wasn’t the producer and it was just a contract thing, maybe I’d feel more compassion. But trust me, when it comes to doing these records, I’m in the studio hundreds of days where they’re here for 20-30 days. I’m in mastering, everywhere. The beat is made before you even get to the studio 80% of the time. The beats are made on my own time then brought to the studio, tracked down with me and the engineer, and then you’re brought in to do your 16 bars. [laughs] Then I EQ your shit! When you look at all those albums it don’t just say “Produced by the RZA.” It says “Produced and Arranged by the RZA.” Some people thought I was lying when I said that. I work the boards; I’m a genius at all that shit.

Ghost made a deal with someone who thought they should get more from him than what they’ve got. So they’re trying to infringe on the Wu-Tang brand. Ghost’s catalogue is his catalogue, and now they want to try to get into our catalogue. They’re trying through him. So because these n***as are telling you “yo, you should’ve gotten this,” you’re going to listen to them after all the years we’ve been together? That’s improper.

I’m only appealing it ain’t right for no producer in our business to have to potentially go through this. It’s been like this for over 100 years where the producer gets 50%.Now with some rock songs it’s 33%. One person will get it for the basic harmony, one person will get it for the melody line, and one for the lyrics. because in those days a songwriter could write a song like “Memories” and he’ll write but not the music to it. Then he’ll get it to another guy who makes the melody line, and then he’ll give it someone who comes with the harmonies. Hip-Hop don’t work like that. It’s just the beat and a rap.

I’d like to get the opinion of your readers. If the RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan produced all the beats and taken 50% for beat production, do you think it’s fair that the producer get 50%? If you don’t think it’s fair and you agree with Ghost, do you think all producers who work with Ghost outside of Wu-Tang should get 50%? That’s basically the argument here. Every producer outside of the RZA that’s worked with him has gotten 50%. The only one being challenged here is me. I’m not being challenged because I didn’t do the work. I’m being challenged because I get pressure on somebody coming at him trying to get into my business. Ghost knows this as actual fact that all he do is throw his rhymes in.

Like I said to Ghost I can name 2 songs out of everything we did that he can say was his idea. And even when he came with the idea, I had to make it happen. “All I Got Is You,” you loved that song and always wanted to sample it. I sampled and looped it together, and I got Mary to come in for the hook. I did everything a producer would do. And the second song was the one from that movie, uh-oh-ah! [Writer’s Note: Vocal sample from “Cornbread, Earl, and Me” used to create Ironman’s “Black Jesus.”]. You said how can we sample it, and I figured out a way to do it. And I threw the drums on it, and broke it down to what it was. Those are the only two! And it’s not in dispute. Songs like “Bring Da Ruckus” I made 2 years before they even rapped on it. Songs like “Can It Be So Simple” anybody could have got on that. It had the hook, beat, and the lift from the beginning. They threw their verses on it.

Me as the producer I sit in the house all day and make beats. And I put hooks on a lot of mine by sampling the vocal hooks. So for them to say differently really offends me and I’m sure it offends all producers. So again, is it right for RZA to receive less than 50% when every other producer for Ghostface has received 50% for every beat he’s made from him: from Pete Rock to every unknown n***a producing for him that’s using my sound. What’s so bad is their using my sound getting 50% and here I am the inventor of the sound getting scrutinized. I’d love to see the answers we’ll get on this. I know it’s a lot, but that’s what it is.

RZA sounds pretty reasonable here but there must have been a reason the court sided with Ghost. Anyway it's interesting to hear a producer's take on how much work goes into a song and how the compensation is settled.

Is this Drake guy any good? I'm trying to get back into hip-hop at the moment but there isn't much that interests me, and Drake's track "Forever" is the best I've heard from a new artist. Eminem is the star but Drake is excellent on it too. And Wayne. Not Kanye.

Billmatic
October 7th, 2009, 8:20 AM
Not Kanye? His verse is FIRE.

"I stuck my dick inside this life until that bitch came"
"I had raped the game young you could call it statutory"
"Superbad chicks givin' me McLovin, you would think I ran the world like Michelle's husband"

and Drake's hit or miss. He's talented, and he's got some good songs, but he's got a lot of sorta aimless R&B that gets pretty grating after a while.

His best song:

(possibly my favorite Weezy verse ever too)

Fro
October 7th, 2009, 9:15 AM
Yeah Drake's above verse is my favorite of his as well. He kills it and easily outshines Weezy.

Drake is damn good in spurts but I haven't really enjoyed a full mixtape/album of his yet, mainly because he spends too much time on the R&B.

Billmatic
October 7th, 2009, 9:29 AM
I don't know man, I knew people are inclined to hate on anything post- Carter III when it comes to Wayne, but that verse is crazy good and I'd say he outshines Drake by a mile.

Fro
October 7th, 2009, 10:03 AM
Agree to disagree. Having just listened to it again they're both dope and probably neither outshines the other like we're saying, but I love this part in particular:

I'm going off like lights when the show's over
Make pasta rent a movie call hoes over
Rest in peace to Heath Ledger but I'm no joker
I'll slow roast ya, got no holster
Wet glass on ya table nigga no coaster
Burn bread everyday boy no toaster
G and Tez got a cig but I'm no smoker
They just handed chips to me nigga no poker
I'm with it, young money, cash money soldier
My cup runneth over
The same niggas I ball wit, I fall wit
On some southern drawl shit
Rookie of the year, '06 Chris Paul shit

 good man.

I was encouraged, because Drake said "So Far Gone" was his R&B album and that he wanted to make his label debut a straight rap album, but I'm guessing given his massive success with "Best I Ever Had", etc. he's not straying from the formula yet.

Never heard about that til now. (Although I did know about a R&B Artist sampling "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap) What the hell is Game doing on a track with Jay? Thought he hated him.

I kind of think trying to rap over the chorus is dumb. Hard to hear what they're saying.

Old news but since I didn't actually watch the VMAs except for the clip of Kanye merking Taylor Swift I missed this until a few days ago: the performance of Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys has to be the best hip hop musical performance on a tv/awards show I've ever seen. Immense.

Also The Roots (Oct 20) and Clipse (Nov 10) are dropping albums soon so I'm keeping my eye out for those

Deka
October 12th, 2009, 9:05 PM
Yeah. Best part of that performance was Lil' Mama jumping on stage near the end. Both Jay-Z and Alicia Keys had confused looks on their faces and at one point Jay-Z pats Lil' Mama back as if to say, "Okay, okay. Get off the stage, sweetie. You don't belong here."

RuneEdge
October 12th, 2009, 9:57 PM
Theres a video online which I think wasnt shown during the show of Beyonce actually grabbing her hand to try to stop her getting on stage. But the idiot pulled her wrist free and went on to ruin the performance.

That performance was ridiculous. Alicia had her A game. Speaking of R&B, Mariah Carey's "H.A.T.E.U. Remix" with Gucci Mane, Big Boi & OJ the Juiceman has me grooving right now... maybe cause it got JD remixing it with the old "My Boo" beat (and I don't mean Usher).

What ever happened to Charli Baltimore, anyway?

JRSlim21
October 14th, 2009, 3:23 PM
Charli Baltimore didn't do My Boo. It was Quad City DJs.

But speakin of... where the hell is she? She got caught up in in the worst record label this side of the Mississsippi.... the Inc. Like the NYC version of No Limit. You hear from their artists once and never again except for the main attraction.

Mike Skillz
October 14th, 2009, 3:41 PM
Yeah, but at least even the No Limit peripheral players released albums, e.g Kane & Abel, Soulja Slim, Mia X.

How many times on Ja Rule/Ashanti LP's did you see, Black Child, Charli Baltimore, Cadillac Tah.. Coming soon?

Not that a single person was waiting for those.

Adamy

Didn't she and Cam'ron have a song called "My Boo" back in like 1998?

Deka
October 14th, 2009, 10:58 PM
After Irv Gotti's main office was raided by the feds and he got caught up in all that B.S. about construding with drug dealers and whatnot everyhing went downhill from there.

Also, Ashanti walking off was a huge hit The Inc.'s overall profits.

I am shocked that Ja Rule has yet to be pushed back into the mainstream limelight, though. You would think he would still be very marketable in the current hip-hop climate and would be a profitable investment for The Inc.

I think Plies is the best example of a southern version of Ja Rule. Thriving off of female-targeted duets with R&B artists and doesn't feature any other rappers on his albums.

So DJ Jazzy Jeff put out a new mixtape called "He's the King, I'm the DJ." It's a mix of Michael Jackson's greatest hits and rare gems. Sometimes lost in all the hoopla that is MJ is the fact that... he is so heavily sampled. It's off DJ Jazzy Jeff's website and he's giving it away for free. Pretty cool including the Jay-Z "You Rock My World" remix and a mix of "I Want You Back" and Kris Kross' "Jump" (never knew they sampled it).

Ditto. I wanted to give it a few listens before commenting but I just haven't been compelled to go back through it again yet. Production wise it's a step up from his mixtapes but overall I'm not sure it's better than them.

Pop culture references can only go so far.

It kinda seems as though he didn't really know what to do. He's clearly going for a more commercial route, but the songs really aren't all that commercial. I think it's more growing pains than a lack of anything on his part though. He's getting rave reviews on the Roc Nation tour so I only expect his stock to rise.

Pete Cash
November 7th, 2009, 9:58 PM

Michael Eric Dyson, the prolific truth teller that often encompasses his words of wisdom with Hip-Hop is lending his talents to another literary work. Dyson already has several books in stores including ‘Holler If You Hear Me' and ‘Pride: The Seven Deadly Sins.' His latest work however will be an alternative to his previously released works, and tell the story of the Illmatic one, Nas.

Titled,' Born To Use Mics', the book will tell the story of the Queensbridge native whose songs and music brought the world to a lyrical stand still.
According to Amazon.com, it will be an unofficial biography of Nasir that focuses mainly on his 90s masterpiece, Illmatic. Professor Dyson will not be alone on the project and the agency describes it saying,

"The best and brightest writers of the hip-hop generation reflect upon the era's landmark album: Nas's Illmatic. From the moment then nineteen-year-old Nasir “Nas” Jones began recording tracks for his debut album the hip-hop world was forever changed. Released in 1994, Illmatic, was hailed as a masterpiece and is one of the most influential albums in hip-hop history. In Born to Use Mics, Michael Eric Dyson and Sohail Daulatzai have brought together the brightest minds to reflect upon and engage one of the most incisive sets of songs ever laid down on wax."

‘Born To Use Mics' hits stores December 28. Check out the cover below.

Was putting together my top albums of the decade list for Dave's thread and figured I'd post my top hip hop albums in here.

1. Jay-Z - The Blueprint
2. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
3. Kanye West - The College Dropout
4. Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
5. The Roots – The Tipping Point

Can't listen to that D12/Canibus track at work, why would D12 be dissing Eminem?

Miotch
November 25th, 2009, 1:55 PM
The dis is something to the effect of 'white boy comes in to make a few million and then walks away like he doesn't even know you'.

That's obviously not the line, but the song fucking sucked and I don't want to listen to it again. That's the gist though.

Fro
November 25th, 2009, 2:15 PM
It's a decent enough diss track. I can't tell if D12 is actually dissing Em or not as they don't seem to mention him by name. Canibus's crony sounds a lot like Slug.

Hopefully Em responds because when he gets his battle rap on there's few better.

Miotch
November 25th, 2009, 2:22 PM
No they're talking about some other white dude who rolled with them in the past and no longer pay any attention to them.

Fro
November 25th, 2009, 2:29 PM
Said subject matter is rapped about by Canibus and his crony, not any members of D12.

Miotch

Yeah but D12 is on the track. Come on now.

Fro
November 25th, 2009, 2:45 PM
Everything D12 says on that track is completely generic. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Canibus just chopped in some D12 verses he got a hold of. If this is them dissing him then they come off as pussies, afraid to say anything direct.

They really shouldn't be dissing Eminem anyway considering none of us would who know who the fuck they are without him.

Miotch
November 25th, 2009, 3:02 PM
Everything D12 says on every track is generic. It's probably why Eminem wants nothing to do with them anymore.

QuietStorm

D12 isn't even on the track. They were added in.

Also, I'm sure this came about because Canibus wanted to make good again and do a track together but Shady said no. He only put 16 bars on this one so I'm sure there is a lot more to come. Eminem is a cornball and never put anything out directed at Canibus that was even as close to as harsh as Dr. C PHD.

Fro
November 25th, 2009, 5:18 PM
VINTAGE QS lol

Yeah Em never really gave the battle much effort. "Canibitch" was kinda weak especially compared to his other battle raps which are some of the best of all time.

While on topic let me throw this out there. As much as I love 2nd Round KO I actually think The Ripper Strikes Back was the better dis song. Great battle on both sides though, one of my faves.

Eminem never cared about Canibus, Bus was just riding his tails looking for a bite. When he's interested, there are few better than Eminem when it comes to diss tracks. Certainly not the supremely average Canibus.

Well, it's not an official record but the number of PLOO mixes created by his fans numbers in the thousands. I have well over a days worth of Infinity mixes on my computer and I certainly don't have all of them out there. That is thousands of new songs and new rhymes coming from one 55-minute track. Infinite indeed. And a lot of the mixes are just insane.

As far as the Rakim album, I bought it on Friday and only gave it one brief run through. The beats aren't as good as I was hoping, and there is too much singing on it that isn't needed. Lyrically, Ra is still sharp, but I dont know why he didn't hook up with some better producers.

Get the fuck outta here.

Anyway don't let BBF derail this question with his Bone Thugs N R N B cack, I want hip-hop. I tried to find some kind of all-inclusive DJ Premier torrent with ALL tracks he's ever produced for artists, couldn't find anything though.

HURR DURR
look what I found when I googled "DJ Premier discography torrent"

http://www.torrentportal.com/torrents-details.php?id=766946

And yeah bone thugs are amazing.
We're not against rap
We're not against rappers
But we are against those thugs

Guru is in a heart attack-induced coma and had to have surgery. Hopefully he pulls through.

Put the following playlist together for a female who needed convincing of how fantastic hip hop can be, so I may as well post the download link here.

Song/Artist/Album

Mother's Day/Atmosphere/Leak at Will
Little Man/Atmosphere/You can't imagine...
What You Do to Me/Blakroc/Blakroc
Angelz/Doom/Born Like This
Family/MF Doom/Nastradoomus 1
Travellin' Man/DJ Honda feat. Mos Def/Remastered
New Wu/Raekwon/Cuban Linx II

I'm sure most of you have a few if not most of those, but there's probably something in there that you don't have as well.

Serious? Jesus. Here's hoping he gets through it.

I've been revisiting a lot of old hip-hop recently and absolutely loving it, haven't enjoyed hip-hop this much in maybe six or seven years. I've been deliberately shunning the stuff I listen to most but have got bored of over the last few years and going back over stuff I'd forgotten about.

Currently loving...

Common - The Sixth Sense, I Used To Love H.E.R.
The Fugees - Cowboys, Manifest, Fu-gee-la
Freeway - Feel It In The Air
Nas - Surviving The Times, The Message, It Ain't Hard To Tell, Bridging The Gap, Get Down, I Gave You Power
Gang Starr - Same Team No Games, The Rep Grows Bigga
2pac - , Do For Love, Baby Don't Cry, Made Niggaz, So Many Tearz, Shorty Wanna Be A Thug
Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M., Ice Cream, Protect Ya Neck Pt. II, Rainy Dayz
The Roots - Break You Off
Notorious B.I.G. - Rap Phenomenon
Sticky Fingaz - Suicide Letter, Stick 'Em Up
Jay-Z - Can't Knock The Hustle, D'Evils, Feelin' It, Dead Presidents II
Redman - Da Rockwilder, How High
Mobb Deep - Drop A Gem On 'Em
Xzibit - Heart Of Man, X
Arrested Development - Mr. Wendel
Eminem - Infinite, If I Had, White America, Rock Bottom
Pharcyde - Runnin'
CNN - Invincible
Styles P - My Life

Also new tracks I'm enjoying:

Chiddy Bang - The Opposite Of Adults
Nas/Damien Marley - As We Enter

Just rambling but is it just me or is Gucci Mane the worst "rapper" that's ever managed to get a record deal? I hate saying this being from the South but these days Southern rap is horrible, full of talentless thugs who somehow get record deals.

What I really don't understand about Gucci is how he gets so much adoration. He's absolutely terrible. Garbage pre-school lyrics that he can't even deliver without mumbling. Just awful, I wish he'd fuck off already.

I agree completely. He's fucking horrendous.

He took a shit song and made it even shittier. Something I didn't think was possible.
I love him mumbling "Oh" and saying his name throughout the song.

Posting right now from my phone so i cant see the link but is it that Mariah song Obsessed? Good fuck how he ruined any decency that song may have had with his tone deaf singing and ridiculous self-endorsement.

It's sad when "street cred" matters more than talent and delivery and unfortunately that's the state Southern hip hop is in these days (with a few obvious exceptions like T.I. and Wayne). It's just as much the fault of the mindless fans who pay for this talentless garbage as anyone.

A ridiculous amount of pointless overdubs in that song.

But for the most part it sounds like most shit rnb duets you hear.

This Wu-Massacre album is pretty good (not great) but it's extremely short at about 30 minutes.

Dangerous is a banger.
