Listening to some of it now... I don't like the sound of "Problem" and "Fall Out". Doesn't Meth realize the main reason his last album got so much hate was the wack ass beat selection?
Still, there's some good stuff on here. Definitely better than Tical 0, but the two songs I mentioned sound straight from that album..
No one else has grabbed this yet?
The Intro, Is It Me, Dirty Mef, The Glide, Say, Konichiwa Bitches, Everything, Walk On, and Presidential MC are all dope songs... Somebody Done Fucked Up, Got To Have It, and 4:20 are all decent too. Still think "Problem" and "Fall Out" are horrible, and the R&B tracks were expected, but this is a damn good album... really nice production for the most part.

This album bangs. 'Problem' isnt that bad. The beat isnt bad, its just paint-by-the-numbers Sermon. Where the fuck is the Def Jam promotion for this? This comes out in a week and a half, and if I didnt have the internet, I would have no clue about this. I'll support Meth and buy this if/when it comes out. I'd say this is better than Masta Killa and Deck, but about equal with Ghost.

One of New York's most lyrical MC's with one of the most overrated gimmick rappers from the south? Ugh..
What exactly is Young Jeezy's "gimmick?"
Stringer Bell

Almost all of his songs have the exact same content.. usually heavily drug related, with loads of "trap" references. Also, the whole "YEAAHHHHH!", "THAT'S RIIIIGHT!" and shit he does after random lines is pretty gimmicky.
Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with Def Jam promoting the Meth album. Is there a video for "Say" or anything? You'd think Jay wouldn't miss the boat here.. the Wu is back hard and he isn't even trying to capitalize.

Hack, I still wanna know what you think of the new Kast and Method Man...
I'm warming up to the Outkast, but it's not really getting much rotation or anything. It's.. decent. On a similar note, I miss Soul Food style Cee-Lo.
Meth is definitely solid. More than half of the album is dope, and the rest is half filler, half average..
This thread is dead these days.

Maybe it is dead. But I was just going to come in here, and say maybe it's time we have a serious discussion about DJ Danger Mouse. I mean, in the years since the Grey Album hit in late 2003, the guy has been responsible for at least 4 of the top 50 (maybe 25) rap albums... St. Elsewhere, The Mouse and the Mask, Demon Days, The Grey Album, and that's not even counting the Gemini work or his mixtapes. What is it about the Mouse that is so alluring? The clean, crisp beats? Brilliant samples? Has he had a run of luck with the quality of his collaborators? Is it too early to call him one of the best producers in the game? Am I overrating his work?
I don't know, something about his beats just clicks with me, like he's doing rap that sounds good in your studio headphones or on the crappy radio station in your car...

Man, this thread really is slumping, so here's my 2 cents. I don't have a whole lot of time to listen to music these days, so it takes me a while to give proper listens to all the new albums. But over the past week I've done a lot of catching up, and let me just say that hip hop is soaring right now. Between Feedback, Game Theory, The Shining, Idlewild, and to a lesser extent 4:21 and Second Round's On Me, I feel like there's a surplus of quality new rap to listen to. It's a good thing. :D

FYI Buck, the Last Emporer mixtape, Hidden Treasures, that someone posted at thecrypt is sooo dope. I'm really hyped for his next album. The track with RZA is off the charts, and there are a lot of other highlights. Ludacris' new album is already making the rounds on the net.
God, the beats are amazing.
The lyrical content is tight too. Nothing spectacular, but I think he brings it a little more on this album than he did on Red Light District. He's got some real original stuff here though. He does a rap poetry based on some of Tupac's work. It's really great stuff. Rap music with Soul.
And Buck.. he's got a great track with Redman and Ghostface that might interest you.
I only have 11 tracks, so I don't know if I've got it all or not, but everything I've got so far sounds really, really good. You have to give him credit for his beats alone. He consistently has some of the most unique ones around today.

I think you've got the advance bootleg that's been around for awhile, unless the retail just recently leaked. "Future Thugs" is cool, but I played it out.
As for the Jedi Mind Tricks, it's SERIOUS. Stoupe came through big time, and Vinnie matured his game on the mic. Almost every track is a banger.. "Put Em In The Grave", "Uncommon Valor", "When All Light Dies", "Serenity In Murder", "Outlive The War", "Gutta Music", and "Black Winter Day" are favorites, but it's all raw as hell. Vinnie impressed me. One of the strongest albums of the year.

So went out to see 7L and Esoteric and Kool Keith last night. Got to the club, paid to get in, and find out a cancelled hip-hop show from another venue got booked there that night as well. So I come in half-way through Glue's set. Weren't too bad, Akeem is pretty tight on the mic, and the production was killer.
Solillaquists of Sound was next. Really wasn't digging them. A bit pretentious with their whole 'we only speak the truth' bit, but seemed like cool, down to Earth people with a passion for hip-hop. Their MPCeeJay DiViNCi is a maniac, and Swanburger, despite being a hefty thirty-one year old, can fucking b-boy like a motherfucker. He was flying around up there. All in all, they weren't bad, but could have gone without seeing them.
7L and Esoteric finally went on around 11. Again, wasn't bad. Wasn't really into it, because I only know Esoteric from his affiliation with JMT. Speaking of JMT, Outerspace shows up to do 'Gorillas' off The Torture Papers, which was hot.
Now, it's getting late, and I'm getting restless. I expected to be home way early, but because of this dual show crap, everything is running late, and I didn't pay to go in there and not see Kool Keith.
Finally around midnight Kool Keith comes out, doing some Ultramagnetic MC's material before some songs from Dr. Octagon. He does the whole deal with handing thongs out to the girls in the audience and asking them to come up on stage and try them on for the fellas; over the jeans of course. So these three girls get up there and dance around while him and his crew do 'Girl Let Me Touch You There.' Things moved into Black Elvis territory, and it was about there that I headed out, since I was beat and didn't know if I'd miss the train back home.
Definitely hope to see Keith again under better circumstances.

That Jedi Mind Tricks has been dominating my rotation all week. I mean, Lupe Fiasco's retail finally leaked, and I'm actually a little disappointed with it after hearing the monster that is Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell. Don't get me wrong, Lupe's album is damn good, and I will be buying it, but after the buzz over the initial leak and all the hype about how it had been re-done, I was a little let down. From strong tracks getting cut, to an over-abundance of R&B-style hooks, it's just not getting that much love from me, especially with the JMT album leaking around the same time.
Also been banging that new Outerspace shit (MAD good!), some of the Swollen Members, the new Skyzoo/9th Wonder stuff, Kenn Starr's album, PackFM of course (buy it!), and Dilla's The Shining still. Just got that Stones Throw Chrome Children album last night too, it's got some nice stuff.

Haha yeah, what's with Ras Kass hanging out with a bunch of random white dudes? I thought that was kind've humorous. Not that it means anything, I'm white and have plenty of black friends, it's just not what you'd necessarily expect in one of these "me and my crew say fuck you" videos..
So apparently Game hit him in the back of the head with a bottle last week in a club. What I don't understand is why Kass went to the internet... why not just act on it? He's a great emcee, but I don't know what he was thinking here. One of the sleeper albums of the year has been Mathematics' "Soul of a Man". He has some of his finest work on here, especially tracks 2, 4, 7, and 12. Makes you wonder why the hell Masta Killa & Ghost used recycled MF Doom beats instead of fresh (and better) Math ones.

Not much of a Game fan, but I loved that beat for some reason. I heard it on Sirius about a month ago on some show on the weekend and they put all types of rapper's lyrics on this beat.

That JMT is still dominating my rotation. In the car, on the Ipod, at home. What a monster of an album. I won't get a chance to buy that or Lupe this weekend, but I definitely need to buy both soon. Also Trek Life's album, Price I've Paid, which I finally grabbed.. any of you west coast guys familiar with him? You should check him out..

Buck, there have been like three Sandpeople threads at that "respect the jooks" site. If anything, they remind me of Wu-Tang... A loose coalition of MCs that come together and make magic...
Also, their live shows kick ass; they're playing another venue here sometime next month, but I'm supposed to work Friday/Saturday nights, and I dunno if I can switch shifts again. Dylan is in town with Kings of Leon, there's an M. Ward show, Cut Chemist + Lyrics Born, JMT and RA the Rugged Man... Way too many to choose from... :happysad:

Skimmed through the newest issue of The Source today, they've gotta nice little feature on Boot Camp Clik classics for heads that aren't familiar with them. Also, I'm sure most of you have heard by now, but XXL gave the upcoming Clipse album a perfect XXL rating, the first of its kind if I remember correctly. I've only heard the singles, which aren't anything mind-blowing, so it should be interesting to see if this lives up to the hype. In the same issue, they gave the horrible new Ludacris a XL, so I'm a bit skeptic.
I really don't mind the new Lloyd Banks album. There's some strong tracks and a lot of good beats. It's exactly what you'd expect from G-Unit, but it's MUCH better than the Tony Yayo and Mobb Deep albums. I am surprised to say it, but I like it more than the new Ludacris.
Also, the new Jay-Z single has hit the net, "Show Me What You Got". Shouldn't have any trouble finding that one. It's usual 1st single stuff from Hov, but the Just Blaze beat really makes it something to talk about!

Xzibit - Full Circle
1. Invade My Space feat Jelly Roll - I'm not a huge fan of JR, but his beat and hook are decent here. X's rhymes are solid as usual. 7.5/10
2. Rolling feat Jelly Roll - The guitar beat is ok, but it picks up when the piano kicks in. Subject matter doesnt differ much from the opener. 7.5/10
3. Ram Part Division - X raps from the perspective of a cop, but does it through a walkie-talkie voice distortion effect. Good concept for a track, but the execution was a bit off. 6.5/10
4. Say it to My Face feat Kurupt & Don Blaze - Kurupt plays the shit-talker role, but he would have sounded dope over this dark beat. X sounds like he's rapping through his teeth. 7.5/10
5. Donnel Rawlings Skit - Spoof of Maury Povich, but with Donnell and X, you know this is going to be funny.
6. Scandalous Bitch - The standard 'fucking bitches' track on every X album, but he flips it into a good story. The flute sample is a nice touch to the beat. 7/10
7. Concentrate - The beat is a rip of Busta's Touch It. X's flow is pretty elementary here, but its catchy as hell and a good choice for a first single. 7/10
8. On Bail feat Daz, The Game, & T-Pain - I seriously hate T-Pain. Daz opens up with a good verse, but X steals this one. Game mentions Pac a bunch of times. 7.5/10
9. Family Values - X shouts out his girl on a nice violin beat. Stand-out line: "Before I devote the rest of my life/ can you at least show a nigga you can boil some rice". 7.5/10
10. Black & Brown feat Jelly Roll - X talks about the division between Blacks and Latinos in LA over a smoothed-out beat. Definitely a stand-out track. 8.5/10
11. The Whole World - It took a while for me to get into this beat, but the stuttering piano is definitely catchy. Another strong contribution. 8/10
12. Poppin' Off feat DJ Quik & King T - Nothing ground-breaking, just a fun track. 7.5/10
13. Moving in you Chucks feat Too Short & Kurupt - Not feeling this beat at all. Kurupt's verse is ok but X closes it out strongly. 6.5/10
14. Thank You - Beautiful track. This is on the level of 'Sorry I'm Away So Much' and 'The Foundation'. Go find his performance on Letterman. 10/10
Overall, this is a solid effort that is consistent the whole way through. WMD and MVM werent bad albums, but this is a more well rounded and concise album. 7.5/10

So I saw Del The Funkee Homosapien, Mike Relm, and Bukue something tonight. Really good show, Del was dope as expected but it was Mike Relm that really impressed me. You west coast guys familiar with him? He's this Asian cat who dresses in a tux, DJ's and has this projector set up with dope visuals that go along with what he's spinning. At this one point he had a clip of someone punching someone, and it kept rewinding and playing as he scratched the record back and forth, and he ended up doing it rapidly by the end. Awesome stuff, you gotta see this guy... he had everything in his set, from Rakim and Jay-Z to Led Zeppelin and Rage Against The Machine. He also rocked an RJD2 joint, "Ghostwriter" I believe.
Del did all his classic shit, even some songs I'm not familiar with because I don't know his entire catalogue, but I think some of the stuff was from his new album. He did "At The Helm", "Thank Youse", "Mistadobalina", some Deltron joints, A Plus rocked some stuff.. It was a hell of a show. The vibe was nice and chill, I usually go early to get up front for shows but I just chilled back for this one.
Anyway, hell of a show. The first real show I've been to since seeing Ghost in April, so it was nice. Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, and Saigon are all coming here on the 30th! :D

Haha, never seen that one before. Fantastic.
Anyway, while I am still talking about the Lupe Fiasco album.... here is my ideal tracklisting to make it a PERFECT album.
Download both the retail version (after you buy it of course) and the leaked version....
And then put it together like this this.
1. Intro
2. Real
3. Just Might Be OK
4. Kick, Push
5. Spaz Out (from leaked version)
6. I Gotcha
7. Instrumental
8. He Say She Say
9. Sunshine
10. Make Sure (on leaked copy, should have been left on)
11. Daydreamin'
12. The Cool
13. Hurt Me Soul
14. Hustlaz Song (good track that was album-worthy)
15. Trials & Tribulatations (the retail version with Jay-z is clearly inferior)
16. American Terrorist
17. Emperor's Soundtrack
18. Kick, Push II
Then you just take out the pointlessly long outro and you have yourself a great 72-minute album.

Awesome pic my buddy got of Meth at the concert tonight. He took 400 some pictures, I'll link to some more later in the week when he gets them up.
http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2568/smokecopymz2.jpg
Dope show, I hung back like at Del so it wasn't as intense as other shows, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. Meth comes with so much energy at his shows, he was literally walking with the crowd holding him up. Then he started swinging from the railing in the rafters, dude was just out of control. Deck and Masta Killa were dope too, they had short sets (especailly MK) but they did a lot of good tracks. Meth had a long set, at about midnight I had heard pretty much everything I wanted to, so I headed out to avoid the rush at the exit as they rocked "Triumph".
I never thought I'd have the chance to see the Wu at all, but somehow this year I've seen them numerous times. The entire Clan in DC in February, which will always be my favorite concert, and since then GZA, Ghostface, and now Method Man, INS, and Masta Killa have all come to my hometown. Can't complain.

The Game's album leaked, and it's a monster, just like The Documentary. The thing with Game is that no matter how average he is lyrically, his song selection is outstanding, he really knows how to cut out the filler. Just like his major debut, every single track is quality. GREAT production.

^ He'd be more tolerable as a person if he'd get off Pac's balls. Every song, every interview, he has to mention 2Pac. Okay, dude, we get it, you like 2pac.
But, also he's beggining to become a bit too arrogant for my tastes. He's still one of my fav. rappers right now, but he keeps comparing himself to legends like Nas, Pac, and Big and he really isn't close to any three of them. Put out more than one record before you claim you're the next comming of hip-hop.
Okay, rant over. But, like I said, he hasn't dissapointed me yet, lyrically.

On the contrary, while far from perfect, 90% of the guest rappers are people he worked with. Out of the entire guest list, here's the ones Pac knew...
Rappers:
Outlawz (including Fatal and Kadafi)
Big Syke
Young Dre
Nuttso
Snoop
Bone Thugs
R&B Singers:
Keyshia Cole
Producers:
LT Hutton
QDIII
So besides a few weird ass producers (Sha Money XL) and rappers (Young Buck, Papoose) the album is pretty solid lookinf from my standpoint after the Slim Shady/G-Unit mixtape that was Loyal To The Game. Hell, even some of the people on there that Pac didn't know seem like talented people he'd get with anyway, such as Carl Thomas and Luda. I guess we'll see when it comes out.
By the way, this is a "tribute" cd to commemorate the 10 years passing, another actual 2Pac solo album will be released in 2007 and not have a guest on every single f'n track. Other good news about that album is that it's all Pre-DR tracks and it's being produced by Big D. and Shock G., all the dudes that knew him in Oakland when he recorded those songs.
EDIT: By the way, that isn't the new cd... that's some bootleg gay mix some moron "leaked" a week ago. So far, this album hasn't leaked. Not your fault man, I know, just pointing it out.

Okay, so 90% was quite overboard, I should have said half.
Loyal To The Game was bad, but most of it is better than this shit.
Even worse, this album sounds like it's all recycled verses. How lame is that? That makes them shitty remixes of old Pac songs. I think Death Row tried something similar.. Nu Mixx Classics or some shit. That's what most of this sounds like.
Anyway, the next project sounds good.

The new Nas tracks "Hip-hop is dead" & "The N" are pretty good. Dont know why Will-I-Am flipped the same samples from Thief's Theme & Made You Look on the same track, but it still came out alright.

Him or John Cena.
AZ is good, but that's it... good. He's never reached "great" or "legend" status in my view. I certainly agree he's a worthy candidate for most underrated, though, since even people like Talib, Common, and Mos Def get mentions by heads, while AZ is NEVER mentioned by anyone, anywhere. I'd also put Royce Da 5'9'' on that list with AZ.

He's always consistent, though I hate the fact the he always feels the need to have at least one horrible song on each album. Take off "Doing That", add 3 or so more dope songs, and his new album would've been something like 4.5/5

November 7th, 2006, 10:37 PM
Personally, I like it a lot. A lot of people seem to be disappointed with it, but I think it's damn good and I'm glad I bought it. The Best Buy version was like 9.99 with a bonus DVD and 3 extra songs, definitely try to snatch that one. It's an R&B oriented hip-hop album, but it's good, soulful R&B. This guy Dion who's signed to Aftermath, I hadn't heard him until this album... and this chick Ayak kills her song with Talib.
It's got Q-Tip, Kurupt, Talib, Ghostface, Busta Rhymes, Pretty Ugly, Jadakiss, Papoose, Raekwon, The Game, Strong Arm Steady, Bun B, Devin The Dude, Nas, Common... and then the 3 extra songs have Snoop, Slim Thug, Mos Def, and Raphael Saadiq. If you like the sound of that blended heavily with soulful hooks, over some damn good beats, go for it. I really don't think you can go wrong with this album, there's a little something for everyone. I'm really enjoying all these albums this year with one consistent producer (Dilla, JMT, Bronze Nazareth, Madlib, etc.)

Well, Pac's Life leaked and here my impressions that I posted on another site. Though, I advise you all wait and d/l it once the explicit leaks, only the clean version is available yet.
FULL REVIEW:
UNTOUCHABLE (SWIZZ BEATZ RMX) - 3/5
It's okay... while the beat is NOTHING like 2Pac would ever be on, his verses are good and the beat itself isn't total crap. Bone Thugs come very nice on it as well.
PAC'S LIFE - 2.5/5
Same as above. It's okay, but the off-beat 1st verse irritates me. Besides that, it just sounds too pop. Still kind of hot, just not my style.
DUMPIN' - 4/5
Beat gets a tad repitive, but the beat itself is class and everyone on the song comes tight. It literally gives me chills... especially 2pac's verse and Carl Thomas' singing on the hook. Fatal and Papoose deliver AWESOME verses theirselves.
PLAYA CARDZ RIGHT (FEMALE) - 2/5
Not complete trash but just too long for a one verse song. I like the instrumental, Pac's verse, and Cole's vocals, but all the nice elements just didn't come together tight enough.
WHAT'Z NEXT? - 2.5/5
The beat is weak, but surprisingly works alright in the context of the lyrics. The guests come pretty good. Not a track I'd ever put on repeat, but not one I'll always skip, either.
SLEEP - 3/5
Nice track, not great, but a worthy addition. Guests are really good, Pac's vocals flow really smooth on the groovin' beat. Everyone who disses this track should check it again, cuz the 1st listen I was a little dissapointed, but on a second listen I noticed a lot of little things in the beat that really goes nice.
INTERNATIONAL - 2.5/5
Nice Pac verse, guests are, again, awesome, and I even love the chorus, it's catchy, but the beat sucks. Kind of sad, really, with just a better beat this track would have been on of faves, but the beat is just too weak for the great raps and hook.
DON'T SLEEP - 3.5/5
Again, nice verses, and an amazing beat. EDI did a fantastic job here on the beat. Lil' Scrappy stuck on the hook is a good call, so all the Lawz can shine on the verses. I like it. Very 2pac style beat... he'd definately do with this. Very nice Spanish Guitar.
SOON AS I GET HOME - 5/5
One of my favorite unreleased 2Pac songs in CDQ and untouched. Nothing more to say.
PLAYA CARDS RIGHT (MALE) - 4/5
Pretty good. Love the singing/hook and beat. Luda is okay. Just a tad long... cut 20 seconds off it and the song would be a little less repetitive. Another beat that just feels like 2Pac. Nice piano and guitar. Hell, Keon Bryce sounds exactly like a dude Pac would have on a hook. I like him better than K-Ci and JoJo on the original. I know, 2pac blasphemy, but it's how I feel.
DON'T STOP - 4/5
The "repetitiveness" problem shows up on this track too. While the vocals are hot and the beat is cool, it gets a little old being 5 minute +. Still, it's a good track and one I'd bump every now and then. I love Young Noble agreeing with Nas about Hip-Hop being dead. Nice.
PAC'S LIFE RMX - 3/5
I wanted to hear Snoop and Pac together again and I get this? It's the exact same beat as the non-rmx version and Snoop comes a little weak on his verse. He is spitting a dedication to Pac, so it's cool, but, just lyrically it's a weak verse and uncreative verse. T.I. spit fire and the hook sounds a little more Pac-style than the un-rmx version earlier on the disc.
UNTOUCHABLE RMX - 3/5
Should have been better, but it's alright. Nice verses and it's cool to hear Fatal, Pac, and Kadafi together (too bad some tard named Gravy appears on the track, but he's okay too, I guess). The beat just leaves some to be desired.
OVERALL: 3.25/5
Basically, it's okay, I'm cool with it, but about 4 tracks could just dissapear and be replaced no problem. Waaaaay better than LTTG and a step back into the right direction. Can't wait to hear the next album that will have Pac solos (this whole cd features at least one guest on every track) and will be produced by his Oakland crew from the early 90's.

Jay Z's new album, rather bad IMO .. 1.5/5, just not listenable for me. Not a big fan of any of the songs and especially the "beats" that Dr. Dre apparently gave to this album. They're terrible.
Game CD = 4/5. A cpl great songs like "One Blood", "Compton", and really the whole album is good. This is the one of the 3 that Ill be replaying alot. I never even liked Game before either.
Snoop CD = 3/5, standout tracks in "Imagine" and "Think About it", some weak parts but Snoops flow is amazing on a few tracks here.
Only listened to them twice (in games case 3 or 4 times already) so it could change, but Im having a hard time listening to Jay's album again.

What's bad about the Jay-Z album? Seriously...
It's got one bad track, the one with Beyonce. I really don't know what Hov was thinking here. The odd thing is that, the songs he's rapped on from her albums ("Crazy In Love", "That's How You Like It", "Upgrade U") are much better than this. I would've much rather had them do a "Crazy In Love" Part 2 type song than this. And I don't mind Beyonce, it's just not a very good song.
Second up is the Usher/Pharrell joint. It's not as bad as "Hollywood", but it still sounds horribly out of place, and I have no clue what made Jay want to pick the redundant beat. Whatever, the song's not all that bad, especially compared to the Beyonce track, but why is this on here and no DJ Premier track?
The rest of the album, is quite excellent. The Prelude (!!!), Oh My God (!!!), Kingdom Come, Lost Ones, Do U Wanna Ride (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), 30 Something, I Made It, Trouble, Dig A Hole, Minority Report, and Beach Chair are all outstanding tracks if you ask me. Honestly, I don't know what you were expecting if you don't like those songs. "Beach Chair" surely isn't the norm, but most of these tracks are vintage Jay (lyrically, topic-wise, etc.). Speaking of "Beach Chair", I'm not a big Coldplay fan, but Chris Martin KILLED the beat. It's something new, and something very very refreshing.
I do think Dr. Dre came weak. I don't know what's going on with that guy, but if the ever-so-hyped Detox has beats like this, it's not going to blow anyone's mind, that's for sure. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Dre tracks on here, they're just a bit disappointing when you consider his body of work. It's like he's satisfied with a simple piano loop, hard drums, and random synth noises. That's not the Dre I, or we, know. C'mon playboy.
I could go on and on about the album, but I'll leave it at that for now. Skulldice, I definitely recommend you go back and give it another shot. I was disappointed to be honest, but that's just because I was expecting way too much -- it's a hell of a record. How can someone not like a track like "Oh My God"?
Also, that Kanye song is so fucking smooth. Probably my favorite of the moment.
As for Game's CD, I thought that was really good too. I gotta say that Game picked better beats than Jay did, but lyrically he doesn't come anywhere close to matching up with him. Jay's lyrics alone make his album better in my eyes.
Haven't heard the Snoop yet, but I have heard surprisingly good things. I'll be damned if it's better than Kingdom Come though... considering the last 5 or 6 albums Snoop has had, I don't think that's possible. Still looking forward to it, though.

I'm telling you guys, it's excellent. The Beyonce track is a dud, so expect that.. and the Usher track will probably only appeal to certain people.. but the rest of it is, simply put, dope. I don't know if I'd rank this over The Black Album, but it's far from the slip-up a lot of reviews seem to be making it out to be. Album of the year? Not quite, but it's one of them.
Skull, seeing as you're clearly not a Jay fan I guess it makes sense, but Hova has had LOADS of outstanding material since '98. I find it a bit strange that you call the Jay album boring, yet you love The Game album. And that's not at all a knock on you (or the Game, his album is great), but The Game talks about nothing but Dre on his album, while Jay is one of the best lyricists in the game and covers all sorts of topics. Just my 2 cents...

The One Blood remix is a bit much with half the appearances being forgettable (Snoop, Nas, E40), and that "Remix, Remix" hook is stupid. I'd say Clipse, Styles & Jada, Twista, Chamillionaire, and Bun B came the strongest.
Black Moon's Alter the Chemistry is a solid album. I'd say its a bit better than the original with 9th Wonder. The beat on 'Food for Thought' is awesome.
Hi-Teknology is another good one. Other than the Czarnok track, this is solid top to bottom. I originally hated 'March', but its growing on me, and only Busta could rock a beat like that.

Your MTV link is messed up, but are you sure he's producing the whole thing? We've known for awhile that he'll be doing tracks on it. If he's doing the entire album, I think that's a mistake. Dre's great, but his sound is nothing like the original Cuban Linx. I'm fine with 2 or 3 tracks..

On MTV.com it says "the majority of the tracks". It'd be stupid to not have one or 2 RZA songs on there, at the very least.
As far as Doing That, to each his own. As far as a "fucking song" goes, I don't mind it.
Raekwon isn't arrogant, he just has no doubt he'll win on his next LP, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Part 2.
How can he be so sure? Not only does he have fellow Wu-Tang member RZA in his corner, but it's official: The Chef said he's inked a deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, and the Doc will be producing a bulk of the beats on the album as well.
"I just felt it was going to be something to excite the fans in hip-hop," Rae said Tuesday evening. "Let them know I'm dealing with a whole list of thorough superproducers that's making sure this legacy of Cuban Linx carries on. We thought it was a brilliant idea to have RZA and Dr. collaborate, us being big Dre fans. His classics sheet is way long. As well as RZA's.
"We felt we wanted to put a twist on it and let everybody know the sh-- is that important," he continued. "We going through generation expansion, where the generations are differentiating. We wanted to give them a taste of something new as well as what they wanna see."
Rae said initially Dre was supposed to just produce a couple of tracks for the album, but everything just got better as they kept working. "Allah put us in the right place," he explained. "I'm working real hard, putting little pieces together. The album is coming out great. Everything is up to par. We still working on it, we never stop working till the last day."
The album is slated for release next year, although there's no official date for the LP as of yet. Rae also reported that besides Dre and RZA, the album will feature production from the late J Dilla, as well as Scram Jones (N.O.R.E., Mariah Carey) and DJ Scratch.
The last we heard from Raekwon, he was traveling to Africa with Paul Wall and Tego Calderón to examine the troubled diamond trade in war-torn Sierra Leone (see "Kanye, Paul Wall Urge Rappers To 'Bling Responsibly' In Documentary").

Here's hiphopdx's story (basically says the same thing as MTV):
http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.4618/title.dre-to-produce-bulk-of-cuban-linx-2
My bet is that RZA was unable to produce the majority of it cuz of his busy movie schedule and whatnot. I think Dre will do just fine. Musically, I'm expecting it to be excellent. I'm much more concerned about how Rae is gonna come with it. I haven't been too pleased with his guest verses of late.

Fro, you heard any of his recent mixtapes? Both Vaitcan tapes and Heroin Only are DOPE...
My problem is Dre doesn't sound like Wu, at all. He's great, but he's not Wu. I guess we'll have to wait and see. It'll probably be changed about 5 more times before it's released anyway, haha. Beats from Dilla and DJ Scratch sound good

I just have The Vatican Vol. 1. Even though there's a handful of dope verses on there ("Kids Thats Rich" is vintage Rae), overall he still sounds like only a shadow of his old self in terms of both lyrics and energy on the mic. Like I said, his guest verses on Fishscale, Grandmasters and 4:21 have not impressed me either. And you know Wu members always come strong on guest spots. I'm still looking forward to the album -- it really has to be dope if he's throwing the OB4CL2 tag on it. Plus, Dre usually brings out the best in rappers. But if there's one thing I'm concerned with it's whether Rae can provide an entire album's worth of solid verses like he used to.

I agree Rae doesnt have the same energy on the mic anymore, but lyrically his guest spots since Lex Diamond Story have all been dope. His mixtapes, and his work with Busta, Ill Bill, Hi-Tek, Masta Killa, Meth and Ghost have all been solid. With both Immobilarity and LDS, it was more a question of beats than it was lyrics.
U-God's next album is tentativle titles Machine Gun Funk, and he's rumored to be working with Large Pro and Uncle Ralph McDaniels. As a soloist, this is the last shot I'm giving him. Redemption was decent, but nowhere near as great as it could have been. Hillside Scramblers and Mr Xcitement were both messes. He's somewhat redeemed himself with good verses with Masta, Meth, Deck and Ghost, but if his new track is any indication, the new album looks like more of the same disappointing stuff.
Finally got around to hearing Food and Liquor, and this is definitely worth the hype its getting. The second half of the album is damn near flawless.

Rae's verse on the last Masta Killa album was solid. I think it's too much to expect another legendary album, but Cuban Lynx 2 basically can't be a failure with Dre and RZA on board, and DJ Scratch is good stuff too. And you know he's gonna get some good guest verses (how about a Wu posse cut with Dre on the boards)...

Jay-Z - Kingdom Come
1. The Prelude - Real nice, mellow beat. Strong flow from Jig to start off the album.
9/10
2. Oh My God - Straight banger. Just Blaze come hard with with beat - is that an Allman Bros sample? I like it.
8.5/10
3. Kingdom Come - Another Just Blaze beat. This one's less than impressive, but I really like Jay's flow over it, and the chorus is dope.
8/10
4. Show Me What You Got - This one's grown on me over time. Solid beat and Jay's verses are really listenable despite consisting of mostly fluff.
8/10
5. Lost Ones - Favorite track off the album, hands down. Fantastic beat from Dre - love that piano line. Jay uses it perfectly, providing another super smooth flow that's on par with his best.
10/10
6. Do U Wanna Ride - Only Kanye beat on the album, and it's real strong, though not "Heart of the City" or "Never Change" strong. Pretty good sample for the chorus, and Jay, as always, meshes well with Kanyeezy's sound.
8.5/10
7. 30 Something - While not a true Dre banger like we're used to hearing, still a great beat. Love the hook - "Now I got black cards, good credit and such/baby boy cuz I'm all grown up" - Dope.
9/10
8. I Made It - Mediocre beat from DJ Khalil. Jay raps from the heart about his fam and his past, but struggles to get a good rhythym goin.
7/10
9. Anything (ft/Usher) - Neptunes beat that doesn't live up to their standard. The Usher chorus is pretty annoying. Jay gets a little speed goin in his rhymes, which is a good thing. But he can't save this track from being one of the album's duds.
6/10
10. Hollywood (ft/Beyonce) - I actually don't mind the Beyonce hook, though it's nothing special. Jay slacks a little on this one with some bland lyrics about show biz, but they're not awful. Then again, I don't think any Jay verse has ever been awful.
6.5/10
11. Trouble - This is the one Dre beat that is actually a little hard to listen to. The piano line, which is pretty good, gets overpowered by the borderline-annoying syntesizer repetition. Thankfully, Jay comes real nice.
7.5/10
12. Dig a Hole - Not a big fan of the beat, but it aint bad. The chorus is a sort of a dud - half R&B, half simple repeating of the words "dig a hole."
6.5/10
13. Minority Report - Jay's gets his conscious rap on over an eerie Dre beat, and it works. Lyrically and musically on point. Plus Ne-Yo comes with some silky smooth lines to follow Jay's single verse.
9/10
14. Beach Chair - This one's really out there. Jig sounds natural over the futuristic beat from the Coldplay guy. Real abstract, almost surrealistic lyrics. Some of his best rhymes come on this track - "life is but a dream to me/gun shots sing to these other guys/but lullabies dont mean a thing to me" - Real strong finish to the album.
9.5/10
Overall: 8/10
A very good comeback album, and another solid effort to add to the collection. "Lost Ones" will go down as a Jay-Z classic. Please Hov, keep working with Dre. Yea, the Doc didn't come with his A game this time around, but even his off beats are superb.

Really good ratings, except I'd give "Oh My God" a 9 and "Kingdom Come" a 9.5...
"Do You Want To Ride" would be a 9 or 9.5 for me..
"I Made It" is about an 8 or 8.5..
"Trouble" 8.5..
"Dig A Hole" 8... Fro, you like "Hollywood" as much as this track? I dunno man, I think "Dig A Hole" is decent, but far from the best song..
Also, "Minority Report" is a hell of a song. I'd give it 9.5, it's near perfect, I even like Ne-Yo's stuff.
And then "Anything" would be a 6.5 or 7, and "Hollywood" would be a 4 or 4.5 for me..
Good ratings though.
Has everyone heard the Nas/Jay-Z track yet? It's crazy... I can't wait for the Nas LP..
The Clipse album leaked, and it's pretty damn good. The coke topics get annoying, but the Neptunes deliver some amazing production. Good stuff. VA rep!

I know I've only listened to the whole thing twice, but I'm not feeling Kingdom Come very much at all. I mean, the first few tracks are good enough, they get you in the mood to hear some great hip-hop ... then the thing pretty much sucks until the final two tracks.
I mean, Chris Martin produced the best song on a Jay-Z album and Kanye produced one of the worst. I can't believe I'm typing that sentence.
I hope it grows on me, guys ...

I drove 10 hours today and listened to Kingdom Come all the way through two more times, and a few other songs three or four more times. I'll admit that it has grown on me a bit, but it still has some really weak moments.
After "Lost Ones" and before "Minority Report," I don't think there is a single song that does anything for me. "Anything" is beyond bad and "Dig a Hole" might be the most annoying Jay-Z track since "2 Many Hoes."
"Oh My God," "Minority Report" and "Beach Chair" are all pretty fucking great, though.

The Clipse album is nice, I gotta rep them being from VA. "Hello New World" is a MONSTER of a song, and a lot of the other stuff is good too. I don't mind the singles, but "Trill" and "Dirty Money" are pretty bad and aren't necessary on an album that's already rather short.
Glad to see The Game is doing well by today's standards, he deserves it. He really does make quality hip-hop. If you combine The Documentary and Doctor's Advocate and take out the weaker tracks, you have a damn near classic album. If he could step up his game and switch up the subject matter, he could make some amazing stuff. Since that seems to be the major backlash against his CD, maybe he'll notice of the complaints and make an effort to improve...
The "new" Eminem track is over at Sumish.com (http://www.sumish.com). It's rumored to be recorded awhile back, but either way it's previously unheard. It's a hell of a song lyrically, and if he starts writing like this again, I could actually see myself getting back into his music.
HOT new Ghostface song, among other stuff, on that page too.. his album is shaping up nicely.
