Just wondering if anyone has heard any of the following bands:

The Agony Scene
Underoath
7th Cross
Nightwish
Soultorn
Scars of Life
Man the Machine
Age of Ruin

I came across these bands, and downloaded a few of their songs. Most of it is thrash/metal and there are some quality tunes by each band. Scars of life is class.

I've heard sereral of their songs. I guess it just wasn't my thing, with the mellower songs and the operatic vocals. :\

:chin: ...but I guess that's a contradiction right there, because I really like the newer Therion stuff. Their formula is really similar.

Just as a point of interest (okay, well, of mild interest), my friend's local band called Revolution (www.revolutionrocks.com)'s tour manager also works with SYL and they may be doing some small gigs with SYL in the near future. Just thought that was a cool point.

Its another of Mike Pattons bands...whom you probably know from Faith No More. So I guess thats the best comparison...althought they're quite different.

Check out Pop 101, Flashback, Sweet Smells Of Success and Narcosis.

Crabby
May 17th, 2003, 4:09 PM
Tomahawk is the project of Patton's that overall probably sounds most like Faith No More, at least in terms of vocals and the fact he sings a hell of a lot more.Atmospheric, weird heavy rock basically. The band also includes The Mark Of Cain drummer John Stainer.

And Tomahawk,Fantomas and most likely The Melvins will be touring Australia soon.Oh hell yeah.

Rhys,when/where did you see an ad for the tour? 'Cause the dates haven't been announced yet anyway.

David is producing the WarMachine album but i havent heard word on that for some time. Also if you read the news it also says at the funeral/wake thing Dave was surprised David turned up and he said he looked well, which looks like Dave and David haven't spoken for awhile.

Plus wasn't David doing something Dan Spitz (ex-Anthrax) and Nicko McBrain (Maiden) but Nicko has a massive Maiden tour with the new album finished.

Yes the new album Maiden album is finished,

Nimmers, does your copy of Devin Townsend Band's "Accelerated Evolution" have the extra disc (It has a few extra tracks on it,all of which are quite lengthy)? 'Cause I've seen both the single and double-CD versions, and I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra cash (the two-CD one is around $40 around here) for the extra material. Rock.

Yeah I ordered my digipack from HevyDevy and cost me like $33 or something. At J.B. it's reasonably priced. But is it worth $40? No. The EKO project is just Devin fucking round with a sampling program like Fruity Loops or Dance E-Jay. Electronic music is just not too my taste. But definitely for AE either way.

Depends on how good your local heavy music outpost is. I've seen pretty much every Devy solo release. If that fails, find a find with a credit card and order direct from HevyDevy. Do they have a website? I'm trying to find out if they're playing in the 'Gong anytime soon.

Do you dig The Mark Of Cain?

Found this on Metalshop-

"PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo has told MTV.com that although the band has not officially broken up, there are no immediate plans to work together.

"If five or 10 years down the way, [everyone] wants to get together and do more PANTERA music, then we'll see," Anselmo said. "Of course, it would take some soul searching from all of us."
Anselmo is focusing his attention on his hardcore metal band SUPERJOINT RITUAL, while guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul work on their new outfit, NEW FOUND POWER.
"I think each and every one of us needs to get some other pieces of music out of their systems," Anselmo said. "And I think that some of us need to take some time for ourselves to get on with life again instead of reliving the past over and over and over."
The singer also revealed that DOWN, his side-project band with PANTERA bassist Rex Brown, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY frontman Pepper Keenan, CROWBAR guitarist Kirk Windstein and EYEHATEGOD guitarist Jimmy Bower (who's also in SUPERJOINT RITUAL), may also be on indefinite hold.
"As much work and as much blood and sweat that we gave to those two records is how much we weren't given back or helped or even pushed a minute at all by our record label," he said. "It's basically sabotage and it's painful to take a knife in the back like that. They don't give a shit at all that DOWN is some people's favorite band. They don't care that the new METALLICA sounds a lot like DOWN. They don't care that Jack Osbourne, who's on the cover of People magazine, has a DOWN shirt on. No way. They're just telling us that this record's run its course and it's over with. So until a lot of business is taken care of with and between the record labels, it's very tough for a band like DOWN to function at all." SUPERJOINT RITUAL, whose sophomore album, "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred", is due on July 22 through Sanctuary Records, remains Anselmo's top priority at the moment. "Right now it feels absolutely thrilling to be playing back in smaller clubs and to have kids right dead in front of my face and be playing hard-ass-core music that people are reacting to violently," he said. "I fucking love that, and that is SUPERJOINT RITUAL."

They just gave me a CD-ROM with at least 30 mp3s on it. I'll have to check that out once I'm done listening to the stuff I got. I haven't heard of any of the bands on it (except Marduk), so this should be interesting.

Listening to Dissection right now. It's only on track 2, and it sounds badass.

Yeah I'll burn the album off a friend prolly next week. Plus my brother is copying the first QOTSA album for me off his friend.

Plus I also hear the DVD mix is better than the cd, and not purposely. But you cant get much worse than the cd mix.

Tobias Sammet.

Also you'll notice before Avantasia he says:

"What do you want to hear now? You tell us what you want to hear and we'll play what's next on our setlist"

*Crowd yells what they want to hear*

"Well we haven't understood anything so we'll play AVAN-TAS-IA!"

Gotta love that.

And Tobias adding stupid lyrics in (3:10 of How Many Miles), funny as hell. And Picking on the upper tier section of the crowd also in How Many Miles.

The album is golden. The Edguy's are damn tight. The only thing better would be if there was a full version of All The Clowns instead of Headles Game from Prog Power III.

oh and a question, I've noticed that two Megadeth songs, (Go To Hell and Mechanix) are very similar to Metallica songs.. The beginning of Enter Sandman and The Four Horsemen.. Am I right in saying this is Metallica copying Megadeth, to anger Mustaine or something?

It was a 3-disc since I have a 3 disc cd changer at home. But I'll cut it down to 1.

Four Horsemen is a Megadeth song (you'll notice Dave gets credit in the Metallica book for KeA for about 6 songs, 3 or 4 in RtL)

Dave originally wrote Mechanix and the Metallica boys changed it to go on KeA hence his intro on Rude Awakening: "There are two ways you can hear this next song,... There's Their way, and there's our way. This next song is MECHANIX!"

As for Go To Hell/Enter Sandman the only similiar bit is the prayer in the middle of both, and no-one knows who added that first. Megadeth have Go To Hell copyrighted for 1991 (released on Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey) and Metallica wrote Sandman as one of the last few tracks on their self titled 1991 release. The album was released on August 9th.

So it's hard to say who did their version first.

On another note, did anyone go on my recommendation and download some 'scars of life'. I'm fucking hooked. Some of your more hardcore metal fans won't like, it's mixes an alternative sound with some heavy pieces. Tomahawk- Birdsong,Rape This Day,Flashback,God Hates A Coward.- They are basically heavy, atmospheric rock.

Fantomas- Rosemary's Baby,The Godfather (pretty much the whole DC album or the tracks on the self-titled album).- They basically blend various extreme metal elements. Some of their stuff is seriously heavy.

I'm looking for some bands...... If you could help me out I'm looking for bands that sound like one of the following....

1. Bands sounding like early Metallica, I've gone on The All Music Guide, yet they say similar bands to Metalica include Sepultura and Slayer.. This is not what I'm looking for, I love both Sepultura and Slayer, but right now I'm looking for something nowhere near as heavy... and albums like Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets are nowhere near as heavy as Slayer or Sepultura, mostly due to the singers singing style. And Don't say Megadeth or Anthrax.. I already know about them.

2. Some more Power Metal, wherever I look I always seem to find about 7 power metal bands but no more whatsoever, surely there arent just 7 in this genre, so I'm looking for stuff like Symphony X, Gamma Ray or Nevermore, but without getting to like Dream Theater, I don't know why but I hate Dream Theater so much. So not really progressive metal, more power.

3. Something like early Machine Head.... any other bands have songs like 'Davidian' or 'Old', and don't name Slayer or Sepultura, I want bands very similar to early Machine Head...

If you can recommend any bands that might be like any of these bands, it would be appreciated...

Thanks...................

If you like early MH you should get into the old school Bay Area thrash scene. Bands like Testament, Exodus and Possessed are reccomended. Even Vio-Lence which is Rob Flynn's old band.

Hey Crabby, keep your ears out for an Aussie band by the name of Daysend. They feature members of the late Psi.Kore. They take influences from the Swedish and traditional sound of metal plus some modern touches. They tour fairly regularly but not enough and they have not cut anything onto CD.

Are you sure you mean Power Metal? Power metal generally is more cheesy than the bands listed and usually is Edguy, Blind Guardian, HammerFall, Helloween, Dream Evil, Rhapsody and similiar artists. Avantasia The Metal Opera is like a combined Power Metal Opera as it uses people from most Power metal bands.

The bands you listed are Symphony X (Progressive Metal), Nevermore (Goth/Traditional/Heavy/Prog Metal, bit of a mix hard to describe), and Gamma Ray (Power Metal).

Dream Theater is Progressive Rock with some metal. More of a commercial Prog also. There is weirder prog like Spoks Beard, Transatlantic, Kings X, Therion, The Flower Kings. They take their influences from Rush and Yes and some etcentric Floyd, etc. (not heavy and not metal)

I could also start listing smaller Aussie bands which are awesome like Modus Vivendi who sound similiar to DT but are totally different at the same time. Dungeon are an awesome band who seem to have a sound mixed brilliantly between Megadeth's SFSGSW (ie 80's Thrash) and Power Metal. Awesomeness.

As for Queensryche, well as it is known I love Queensryche. The whole Mindcrime cd should be owned by everyone. As well as Rust In Peace!

Another Prog Metal band but with really weird time signatures is Pain of Salvation, it's not guitar driven like most music I listen to but sometimes driven by keyboard, it incorporates alot of different types of music, some just find it weird or say it's bad. They touch on sadder themes of music.

I guess there is also cross Power Prog bands like Stratovarius and BG. Kamelot kind of sit in Power metal but they're not as heavy but use more progressive influences.

And why hasn't anyone recommended Iced Earth?

I guess I've answered the 2nd part of the question well enough for anyone.

I guess I'll just list some bands mentioned with songs. I'll give a few word desc.

Edguy (Power cheese) - Jeresulam, No More Foolin, Headless Game, Fallen Angels, Save Us Now

Blind Guardian (ProgPower) - Into The Storm, Nightfall, Sadly Sings Destiny, Precious Jerusalem, Imaginations From The Other Side

HammerFall (Power cheese) - Hearts On Fire, Trailblazers, Riders Of The Storm, The Unforgiving Blade

Rhapsody (Power symphony) - Knightrider Of Doom, Power Of The Dragonflame, Emerald Sword, Warrior Of Ice, Triumph For My Magic Steel

Dream Evil (heavy trad Cheese) - Save Us, In Flames You Burn, Chasing The Dragon, Break The Chains, Children Of The Night, By My Side

Stratovarius (ProgPower) - Playing With Fire, No Turning Back, 4000 Rainy Nights, Eternity, Speed Of Light.

Queensryche (Early prog Metal) - Operation Mindcrime, I am I, Empire, Resistance, Breaking The Silence, Hit The Black, London, NM156

Spock's Beard (Prog Rock) - Day For Night, Crack The Big Sky, Flow, In The Mouth Of Madness, The Good Don't Last, Harm's Way, Goodbye To Yesterday

Pain Of Salvation (Weird Prog Metal) - Ending Theme, Fandango, Rope Ends, Dryad Of The Woods, Used, Ashes, Reconciliation

Kamelot (ProgPower) - The Spell, Wings Of Despair, Forever, Requiem For The Innocent

Avantasia (Power) - Reach Out For The Light, The Tower, The Glory Of Rome, Avantasia, Inside

Iced Earth (Heavy Power) - Burning Times, Last December, Pure Evil, Last Laugh, Watching Over Me, I Died For You, Damien

The Flower Kings (Prog Rock) - In The Eyes Of The World, Church Of Your Heart, Just This Once

Demons & Wizards is great. Onward isn't too bad. There are an assload of bands on Century Media that are power-ish.

I'm not a huge power metal person, but some of it ain't bad at all. I do really dig a lot of Iced Earth stuff.

As for bands sounding like early Metallica, pretty much anything out of the bay area in the early-mid 80's has that thrash type sound to it. Exodus is another example. Newer bands, give Shadows Fall a shot...they don't sound exactly like that style, but they're close.

And for Machine Head, good luck...there aren't many bands that sound like that IMO.

Some of those questions are too in depth for me to answer. But I'll answer the ones I want to as I'll be here for 1000 years otherwise :)

4. The Best Metal album cover ever? At the moment I like the cover of 'In The Pandemonium' by Celtic Frost. It's a painting of what looks like a volcano erupting and all the humanity scrambling around it. The title totally fits it. Also the cover to Lamb of God's 'As The Palaces Burn' is awesome. It has a transparent plastic sheet of electrical schematic shit and the cd sleeve is cleverly created to bring out what looks like a face...totally awesome.
5. The 5 Most Influential Metal bands there has been? Black Sabbath of course. Slayer. Mayhem for their contributions to black metal. Couldnt be stuffed going on :)
6. Best Vocalist in the metal genre? Devin Townsend. His versatility and individuality cannot be replicated.
7. Best Guitarist in the metal genre? Christ. Check out any guitarist in any progressive metal band and they're gonna be damn good. Personal fav would be Devy.
8. Best Drummer in the metal genre? HOGLAN!
9. Most beautiful metal songs? Metal is ugly!

5. what you said, plus Metallica and Dream Theater maybe.
6. Russell Allen, James Hetfield or Tom Araya.. Rob Flynn aswell.

7.Hmmmm, impossible for me to name just one.

And yes Ozzy is greatness.

If Bruce never left maiden would Maiden have gotten back as big as they had with BNW and with the new album?

Or was the seperation necessary?

Personally I think Maiden needed a lul with Blaze as singer, and they got it, like Corabi and Motley, it was a necessity. With Bruce returning the media got back on side and with the awesome live album RiR, the band now has a buzz back they haven't had for about 10 years. In this state Maiden could easily reach 2008-2010.

Plus from what I've heard the new Maiden is old yet still remaining forward. Everony expected BNW to be a stepping stone like 'Deth's TWNAH and it was. People expect this new record to be more like PowerSlave/BYDTTS, back in those days.

September is going to be a good month.

Well..... Oh My God, I've had a number of Anthrax songs downloaded on my comp for awhile now, including "Only", but although I thought it was quite good, getting into Anthrax was the least of my priorities, in terms of music. But today, I saw "The Collection" for £3.99 in HMV, and buying that along with Dark Saga, Damnation and A Nick Cave album seemed to round off nicely with little change, so I thought why not, and bought it. When I got home I was pleasantly surprised and The album is ace, songs like "In My World", "Keep It In The Family" and "AIR" are incredible.... but now I want to get one of their studio albums, in what oredr should I get them do you think?

Aussie_Outlaw

Well 2 of those tracks are from Persistance of Time which is my 3rd favourite Anthrax album (still rocks), there are that many Anthrax albums which rule.

Plus the 3 songs you named are from 'old Anthrax', the Joey era and not the John Bush era. They changed singers in 1989-1993.

As for me. It's always good waking up at 2pm (5 minutes ago) and finding a burnt copy of Metallica's St Anger on my bedroom floor. Always good having friends around. I knew he was going to burn it today but I didn't expect I wouldn't have to leave my room.

I guess I'll give a review of it when I've heard it a few times. (Tonite or in the next day.)

Well shit, there's another album I won't buy.

The thing that pissed me off was how some Swedish guy reviewed it and said it was going to be Metallica's rebirth, telling about tons of energy, possessed vocals, and near blast beats from Lars. But come to think of it, only a crack-induced fairy tale could bring Metallica back from the dead.

/me wonders why he was even excited about the prospect of Metallica being good again in the first place

I'll give credit where it's due, Dave, a great review there.

I'm still trying to find out the Australian release date for Sepultura's "Roorback". Wish I could find out really.

Received Opeth's "Damnation" and "Morning Rise" today, holy shit what great albums. They always deliver something you don't expect and some of their stuff is just heavy as fuck."Damnation" is definitely one of my albums of the year.

And supposedly Opeth will definitely be back for the "Damnation" tour in December.Supposedly the band and their management have both confirmed this. For those of us who couldn't make it to their shows a few months back, that is great news.

I wouldn't get Opeth's 'Damnation'. It's a good album but it's not very typical of them and I personally think it falls a little flat without the heavier aspects surrounding the melody. 'Deliverance', 'Blackwater Park' and especially 'Morningrise' are your best bets.

The fact that 'Damnation' not being very typical is the beauty of it. It exclaims Opeth's more finer, peaceful and soulful moments. After all, it is the 7th Experimentation int it?

Body Part Trophy Case? Never heard of them. The last time somebody told me of a band that sounded like Pantera and Machine Head circa 94 I listened to Pissing Razors and was a bit let down by the single dimensionality of their sound.

Some info from Blabbermouth on the new Machine Head album-

"MACHINE HEAD have set "Through The Ashes Of Empires" as the title of their fifth album, tentatively due in Europe on October 13 through Roadrunner Records.

The follow-up to 2001's "Supercharger" will be recorded at Sharkbite studios in Oakland, California, with lead singer/guitarist Robert Flynn at the production helm along with additional assistance from Andy Sneap.

Sneap, who had previously worked with the group on 1997's "The More Things Change..." , will be present for the initial stages of tracking but will be unable to oversee the entire process due to prior commitments. Sharkbite studio owner Mark Keaton will engineer the recording and legendary producer Colin Richardson will step in to mix the effort in late July/early August at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England.

MACHINE HEAD's sixth official release (including the group's recently issued live album, "Hellalive"), "Through The Ashes Of Empires" will mark the recording debut of the band with guitarist Phil Demmel, who joined the group in early April.

Demmel has assisted the band in re-writing a small chunk of the ten new songs that were completed before his addition to the group.

"Phil being in the band has been incredible," drummer Dave McClain said. "Having two guitarists with similar talents has opened up a lot of things that the band hasn't explored in years. To say we're excited about this album would be an understatement. I think when people hear what we've been up to they'll be blown away!"

Among the tracks set to appear on "Through The Ashes Of Empires" are the following:

01. Bite The Bullet
02. All Fall Down
03. Left Unfinished
04. In The Presence Of My Enemies
05. Descend The Shades Of Night "

I also found this on Metalshop.Personally I think it's more evidence that Zakk Wylde takes the whole metal lifestyle a little too seriously-

"Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde has spoken to Guitar World Magazine about the forthcoming Ozzy Osbourne album.

The outspoken one said, "I'm telling you right now, there ain't gonna be no faggot-ass songwriters comin' in writing gay-ass fuckin' songs for the old man. Not on my fuckin' watch. I love that guy too much. The reason he has such great memories of making records with Randy Rhoads is that they were fun. And he had so much fun making 'No More Tears'. But the last couple of records we did turned into fuckin' day jobs for him, and that's bullshit because he doesn't deserve that."

Let’s hope the 2004 offering from Ozzy and co. is as staunch as Zakk’s latest BLS masterpiece ‘The Blessed Hellride’."

The first 3 tracks (track 1 is an intro) are perfect. Hell the whole album is brilliant.

But what actually surprised me is this is an American band. It sounds like something out of the middle of Europe so it surprised me when I saw that the band was from Florida.

I heard a little of it on FMR the other night, it sounded pretty impressive. The distinct lack of promotion it received (hell, I only found out about a week ago when it was going to be released here) would have to be mainly due to the fact Sepultura aren't on Roadrunner anymore.

So I started downloading video clips off a German website.

And lets just say the World lost nothing when Machine Head's Crashing Around You was pull off before it was shown on tv. It's just marketed towards the teen market and basically is crap.

Stratovarius' Eagleheart is a weird one. It's done really well but the movements are really stiff for some unknown reason. Still like the effects though.

Edguy's All the Clowns (finally downloaded all of it) is great. Tieing up Tobias (lead singer) during the Solo for acting like an idiot is damn funny. And then leaving him in the warehouse after the performance.

Also the fact they're playing in an inch of water with electric guitars. Priceless.

Oh and I almost forgot Rhapsody's Holy Thunderforce. What can I say it's brilliant. Fits the music and theme beautifully. The band plays infront of an old Victorian style building with knights jousting and swordfighting and stuff. It's beautiful.

I don't trade my CD's anymore. I made that mistake years ago. I don't know why you'd want to trade some of those CD's anyway.

Just got back from Anthrax last night at the Garage (Glasgow)...

Amazing show,

I was right at the front where the baricade was coming away. Bush jumped just behind me, got 2 of Scotts picks, one from the floor and one landed in the back of my mates T-Shirt ( my mate got one anyway ). My ears still haven't recovered yet though ( the right ear is echoing like a motherfucker ), hope they recover soon:(, got my booklet for WCFYA signed by the guys and they promised they were coming back to Glasgow later this year.

My hoodie stinks aswell, covered in beer and absolutely caked in sweat.

Set List was along the lines of ( not in any the correct order except songs 1, 2 and 3 ).....

1. Contact
2. What Doesnt Die
3. Black Dahlia
4. Caught In A Mosh
5. Got The Time
6. Be all, End All
7. Metal Thrashing mad
8. Only
9. Bring the noise
10. I am the law (finished with I am the Law)
11. Indians
12. Madhouse
13. Whole Lotta Rosie
14. Antisocial
15. Crush
16. Parasite
17. N.F.L
18. Safe Home (edit)
19. Black Lodge (edit)

Quite a different set from when they played the Barras back in March, the boys really mixed it up.

Great Night!

Nice.

I hope Anthrax come down to Australia. We've Come For You All Is Easily one of the best heavy albums released this year.

Its an amazing album.

Australia seems to get a pretty raw deal when it comes to bands touring, Anthrax have been in the UK three times in the last 8months :\

The last big metal bands to tour here were Opeth and The Haunted. Soiwork are coming soon and fuck dead I won't be missing that one.

We do get the occasional big band but it's always a long time between drinks.

In places like America and the UK/Europe there is always a distinguished band doing the rounds. It's not to say I don't like our scene down here but regular notable bands wouldnt go astray....in terms of heavy music that is.

As far as international tours go,Soilwork are on their way soon,Metallica early next year and The Geeks Tour (Tomahawk/Fantomas/The Melvins) hits here later in the year.Plus Opeth are said to be back in December and Igor said on FMR the other night they will hit Australia on this tour.

Plus Skinlab are touring next week, but I'm not a fan really.

And BTW,Nimmers,"Biomech" fucking rules.

For someone who only knows a couple of Iron Maiden songs and Motorhead's 'Ace Of Spades' (of course:D.), where does one start with metal?

Go back to Black Sabbath and revel in where it all began.

Here's some good bands to start out with:

Thrash - Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Slayer, old Metallica
Power Metal - Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall
Nu-Metal-ish type stuff - Stuck Mojo, Nothingface, One Minute Silence

And you can never go wrong with some Pantera.

...and I'm not sure if you'd like death or black, if you're just getting into metal, but Cannibal Corpse and Vader are good death metal to start with, and same with Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth for black metal (whether these two are actually black metal, I don't really want to get into that debate).

I'm seeing Opeth in two weeks in New York.

Also, Hellfest this year has tens and tens of metal bands. I'm not going, but my brother got in for free.

It sounds cool. There's a whole lot of bands I've never heard of that are playing, and that would be awesome (or maybe bad...).

I'm just waiting for Cradle of Filth to come to Kansas City, though. :\

I say Immortal, Mayhem and Emperor be named above DB and COF.

Tough one.

It's probably best to start with a few classic albums from bands like Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,Slayer,Megadeth and a few others.

And listen to some bands that are in some of the various sub-genres-heavy,thrash,death,industrial,etc, to better gain an indication of what type of heavy stuff you might dig the most anyway.

Yeah, but I was listing bands that were easier to get into, especially if you're new to that kind of music.

Dave, i don't have any Iron Maiden albums, but i'm keen for a few. The songs i like are:

Run to the Hills
Fear of the Dark
22 Accacia Avenue
The number of the beast

I'm going to buy the Number of the Beast album, but what else should i get?

Maiden are infinitely better live.

It's a fact that can't be argued with. Seriously.

So get Rock In Rio, a damn fine double disc released in 2002. Bruce's return live album, a trio of guitars and bass and over 250,000 screaming brazilians.

Plus 3 of the tracks you listed are on that album.

Fucking amazing.

Yeah NOTB is great, and since you already love 3 tracks on the album. Prisoner is awesome, but the greatest song on that album is Hallowed By Thy Name.

You'll like.

If you're going for studio albums, definitely get NOTB first. If you dig that, then get Powerslave,Piece Of Mind and then maybe Seventh Son.

BOTB is a pretty good compilation, though,if you don't want to get all their studio albums.

Well i've tried a few more bands as of late:

Kamelot
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
One Minute Silence
Testament
Soilwork
Tomahawk

I'm liking Kamelot a lot, and just read that they are touring Japan with Dream Evil, which would be awesome. Iron Maiden are class, so is Judas. Soilwork is a tad heavy, though One Minute Silence and Testament are solid bands. I can't seem to get into Tomahawk, though i'll keep listening.

With these bands in mind, any others you can recommend?
