The more I listen, the more Chris Barnes makes me laugh. Six Feet Under's covers sounded pretty funny with his vocals (especally the AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix ones) And the rappy song at the beginning of the Maximum Violence CD made me laugh, too. "Son of a bitch, third generation..."
I can still like music and find it funny. That's weird sometimes.

I liken Chris Barnes to sounding like a pig getting raped by an elephant.

I don't mind his guttural vocals, but  yeah, he does sound like that when he screams.

Music? This thread is about discussing the building of bridges.
See Nemesis, I think that using a steel alloy would be much better with the weight-strength ratio. Because the force exerted from the cables is x=(4L1+L2)/2
Pretty strong if I do say so myself.
But of course copper is also fairly poor and rusts quite easily. I'm sure there's an easier way.
But Music? :wtf: On drugs aren't you kid.

Here's something weird for every one. Straight from Thursday's Newcastle Herald.
David Palmer, a 66-year-old ex-keyboard player from '70s rock band Jethro Tull has had a sex change operation to become a woman. She is now called Dee.

No Iced Earth for me.
Anyone like Neurosis? I've got into them recently and it's highly intense shit. Sort of reminds me of Melvins except heavy, harder and darker. Also got Isis' 'Oceanic' and it's a definite grower..awesome majestic epic passages.

It seems Sunk Loto have been added as the opening act for the Fear Factory/Korn-Static-X tour (to which I received free tickets). It'll be interesting to see if they sound any better live, particularly with their new material as well. What I've heard of their new album isn't amazing, but is at least somewhat of a progression from the generic Deftones/Rage Against The Machine-hybrid that their earlier releases sounded like anyway.

They showed the Video on Headbanger's Ball, which just went off. It was the first one though, and I missed it. All I got to see was like the last 10 seconds :(
And they also showed the New Iron Maiden Video "Rainmaker" tonight, which kicked lots of ass, and just about every other Maiden video ever made, It was a really good show this time. Easily the best episode so far.

Edguy - King Of Fools (2003: released tomorrow)
What do you think when you spit in my... face?
How does it feel to accuse and to hate?
Now look at me I'm not one of your kind.
And I prefer to stay behind.
And Walk the wicked way
We don't wanna be like you
Don't you get that King of Fools?
We don't want your lifeless trite
You are the King of Fools
We are never gonna be like you!
We Don't follow King of Fools!
You're are the blind (could be light?) to lead the blind
You are the King of Fools
Now walk the wicked way
You feel at ease as you flock with the masses (HA!)
What do you see with your head in their asses
Keep on wailing, but what I can beee
Call me insane, and I'll be proud to be.
And walk the wicked way
We don't wanna be like you
Don't you get that King of Fools?
We don't want your lifeless trite
You are the King of Fools
We are never gonna be like you!
We don't follow King of Fools!
You are the blind to lead the blind
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

There are really only two Six Feet Under CDs worth owning: Graveyard Classics and Warpath. The rest of them, pretty much shit I'd say.

February 6th, 2004, 3:58 PM
I dunno if I should start a new thread or what about this...but I think I'll have more fun discussing it here, and it's just something I needed to vent out.
Anyone else think that it's funny that Phil Anselmo (as we all know, formerly of Pantera) is basically slamming the shit out of his former bandmates Dime and Vinnie for not doing anything new with Damageplan...yet the new Superjoint album sounds almost exactly the same as the previous one? Not only that, but he constantly badmouths Elektra for not shilling for him enough when he acts like he doesn't need shilling...yet you look at his website and it's a gigantic shill-machine for all the bands he's been in...and there's an interview where he basically says, "I don't give a fuck what you do as long as your buying my shit and putting coin in my wallet." What the hell is that all about?
First of all, if you want shilling, you do enough of it on your website.
Second, record labels aren't going to push what's not mainstream into the mainstream...I can't think of the last time that it happened that a band who isn't mainstream was pushed in the mainstream. Last time I checked, Pantera sold an assload of albums without being shoved down everyone's throats. Same can be said with older Metallica. Same can be said about several Megadeth albums. Same can be said about Black Sabbath's earlier efforts.
I don't get how artists who proclaim themselves to be above the major influences of the record industry (i.e. what's going to make them money given the certain market) simply become another victim.
Then again, I forgot...heroin does crazy shit to people.
Nemesis
February 6th, 2004, 4:02 PM
Sometimes Anselmo comes across like he's the John Madden of metal or something. He says things that everyone already knows, and it sounds like he thinks he's smart. It's pretty funny.

February 6th, 2004, 6:38 PM
Death Cult wasn't too impressive though.
Aye. The only thing that made me sit up was Abbath doing a bit of vocals. It's a pretty boring album otherwise. PEM was way better.
Behemoth rock too. I got Thelema.6 not so long ago. I need more of it.
With Phil, he's just drug fucked. And the Abbott's are just bitter. I love 'Use Once and Destroy', it's a killer album. The follwup is like a bellyflop compared to the perfect dive of the debut. I remember around the time Phil was touring for 'Reinventing...' and he said "I've had enough of screaming and I want to use my voice more" or something to that effect. Geez, that little phase didn't last long. He can't even scream well anymore so why bother. These 3 should just let it rest and get together somewhere down the line when Phil realises SJR isn't going to be the musical revelation he proclaims it to be and the Abbott's will realise the it just aint the same without Phil and get back together.
But you gotta also think after 'Reinventing...', do you really want another Pantera album? At least Damageplan sounds pretty decent, and that's out soon.

I finally picked up Dream Theater's "Train Of Thought"-it's awesome.I'd agree that at times it becomes a wankfest a little too often, but a definite step=up from the last album anyway.
Dream theater albums are supposed to have a bit of wankerery in them anyway, see I would have used wanking... but just using plain old wanking isn't Dream Theater enough for the post
I would say that the last album wasn't to shabby, it just lacked direction and was a wee bit long. I don't rank it as the worst Dream Theater album by any stretch
but as I have said before Train of Thought is a rocking album, its self indulgent even for dream theater and I can apprieciate that
anyways I was searching for this chick vocalist (Sharon Den Adel) who sang on the Avanstasia album cause I thought she had a fucking beautiful voice, she sings with the band "Within Temptation", I have downloaded some of their songs and its not to shabby.. so when I have more money then its off to newcastle to see if they have the album at JB.. and if they don't.. then I will burn the store down
note: I must be a fucking retard, because I seriously checked Allmusic to see if I could find out what group she did vocals for and I would swear on a stack of bibles, strapped into a lie detector that it didn't say fuck all about her, so I had to search.. well get someone else to anyway for her. I go onto allmusic then to get some song titles and decide to check out the avantasia info and I get this
"Avantasia was an all-star side project headed by Tobias Sammet, lead singer of the prog-tinged German power metal band Edguy. While recording a guest appearance from Blind Guardian singer Hansi Kursch with his regular band, Sammet conceived of a massive-scale rock opera featuring the cream of the current power metal scene. He spent a year composing the material, named the "band" Avantasia, and recruited a variety of vocalists to tell his story: Gamma Ray's Kai Hansen, Stratovarius' Timo Tolkki, Virgin Steele's David DeFeis, Angra's Andre Matos, Warrior's Rob Rock, and Within Temptation's Sharon Den Adel. For the backing band, Sammet gathered guitarists Jens Ludwig (Edguy) and Henjo Richter (Gamma Ray), bassist Markus Grosskopf (Helloween), and drummer Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody). The album, The Metal Opera, was filled with tried-and-true fantasy themes and anthemic, progressive pomp-metal; it was released by Century Media in the summer of 2001. "

i was thinking about picking up a Children of Bodom album as well, which one would you recommend and how would you describe the band?
on the SuperJoint Ritual/Pantera/Damageplan 'subject'
i always liked Pantera, probably one of my all time favorites. i think SJR is pretty good, but i really like Damageplan. Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell have had a couple of interviews lately on my favorite radio station and seem really cool. they also guaranted that they'd play in Green Bay (WI) between June or July and the end of summer. they also said that Green Bay has always kicked ass, whether they meant it or not i dont know, but i like to think they meant. now, their debut album 'New Found Power' comes out tomorrow and i will more than likely buy it. they been giving them away on the radio the last couple days in a 'win it before you can buy it' deal.

For Children of Bodom I'd go for 'Something Wild'. It's really solid, it's a little on the short side but it's an album that will have your attention 100% through the duration.
Brendan, you going to go see Entombed?

Here is the list of power metal tracks Dave and I came up with for trying to get new listeners into power metal. I probably could post our actual tracklistings for the 80 minute burned CD's we made but how about you just download them all and make your own CD. The CD I created is actually the top 17 tracks. Outlaw's is everything under that but not in his tracklist order.

Here are some of my favorite albums. If you haven't gotten into Rhapsody definitely get into them. Might want to actually start with Legendary Tales for them. You have probably heard a few of these but they are all quality in my opinion.
Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth, Imaginations From the Other Side
Edguy - Mandrake, Vain Glory Opera
Hammerfall - The Crimson Thunder
Iced Earth - The Dark Saga
Kamelot - Epica
Nightwish - Oceanborn
Rhapsody - Power of the Dragonflame
Stratovarius - Visions, Elements Part 1 and 2
Symphony X - V - The New Mythology Suite, The Odyssey
And yeah, Opeth rules. They were actually my favorite band for a couple months this past summer. Still are one of my faves.

No Jester and Clayman are pretty much on Par with each other. Well thats my opinion.
The problem with IF is that all the albums are so close. So even by me putting Jester 4th I'm not saying it's a bad album. I just prefer the other 3 slightly.
As for Phil, I stopped paying attention to him a long time ago. I thought that was a smart move on my part.

I know not many of you are into death metal at all...
But does anyone dig Autopsy? I got 'Mental Funeral' the other day and it's pretty cool. I like death metal bands that arent afraid to slow it down to a doomy/sludge pace and let the heavy riffs flow. Autopsy do this so well. I'll probably pick up a few more of those cheap re-release digipaks.
I heard that new IF is a continuation of RtR, which for me isn't something too appealing.
I also read that Scott Ian has confirmed Anthrax are touring here in Australia in April, which is a pretty good solidifier of this massive Anthrax/Soilwork/Killswitch Engage tour. This will be the biggest triple bill tour in ages. The last 2 bands I remember touring here was Slayer and Machine Head in 2001.

I will confirm to all you email pals that we are coming to Japan and Australia in April. That’s all I’ve got. The dates and support acts will be up on the site any second. I am excited to be coming back to Australia. It’s been 8 long years. I can’t fucking wait. I know you street-teamers down there are going to kick ass and get the word out. C’mon out and have fun with us you sick Aussie fucks. VB’s for everyone!!!!! I’m hoping we get to Middle Earth, I mean NZ as well. We are all pushing really hard to make it happen. The STRATOVARIUS forum has been closed because 2 individuals sent an email to the finnish police and claimed that STRATOVARIUS supports Nazis. This claim is outright ridiculous and deserves that I tell these 2 idiots: FUCK OFF!!!
The forum was subjected to a calculated attack by people who wanted the whole site brought down. We are considering legal options against these individuals. There were coordinated posts by Nazi trolls, and minutes after that email was sent to the police claiming Stratovarius supported racial hate speech.
STRATOVARIUS has never and never will support any form of physical violence. We might break toilets, hotelrooms and occasionally piss to places where you should not piss, but we do not encourage any form of violence to our fellow human beings. We are all part of THE HUMAN RACE.
Speaking of which that the hate mail has continued to pour in.I have received about 40 hand written letters of hatemail. MissK has received more and the most horrible thing was in the form of a packet that arrived from Brazil. It contained SHIT. Thank you very much indeed from the bottom of our drunken hearts.

Here are some bands for you to check out...
Adagio - Get a hold of Underworld, awesome album...they remind me a lot of Symphony X.
Evergrey - OK, their The Search For Truth album = amazing. It is about a man who is going crazy thinking aliens are invading his house. Very awesome album. They even utilize a choir on a couple of songs. Their other two albums however are crap...new one coming out next month, we'll see. They remind me of Dream Theater, they can be pretentious at times. Baffles me how they can make one gem, two duds.
Freedom Call - Power metal to the fullest, think Rhapsody/Kamelot/Stratovarius all put together...or something.
Galloglass - More dragons/knights/medieval times hero power metal.
Oratory - Sweet band, their woman lead singer has a beautiful voice.
Pagan's Mind - Quality stuff
The Butterfly Effect - Crabby put me onto these guys. Australian melodic hard rock band, think Tool crossed with the Deftones mixed with their own original style and lyrics...and whammo, you have a great little band. I had a VERY hard time finding their self-titled EP and Begins Here album though. If you need I can probably send it to you or you can get it off me on Soulseek.
Therion - So glad Mira put me onto them. It is such amazingly beautiful music. Just check them out.

Hmm...I'd say Dark Tranquillity, Hammerfall, Iced Earth, maybe even Pissing Razors (for a while they sounded like they were trying to BE Pantera). There's also some Swedish "Melodic Death Metal" (I still don't like that term) that you can look for, like At the Gates, Dismember, and Centinex.

I like symphony x, soilwork, children of bodom, in flames, and pantera a lot, what are some other good bands you'd suggest to me that are in a way similar to these bands?
First and foremost, Straping Young Lad/Devin Townsend. The 'City' album is essential. Also try Lamb of God, you can't go wrong with either of their albums. Give Celtic Frost a shot too, try 'To Mega Therion' and 'Into The Pandemonium'. It's massively experimental 80's style thrash. Some seriously cool riffs lie in these guys.

Yep, Damageplan is really a boring piece of work. What can you expect after 'Reinventing The Steel' though? I jumped on the bandwagon of hoping for a Pantera reunion but after the 2nd SJR and now Damageplan I think they need to let the creative juices build up again.

I don't think the guitar playing is crap, they're aiming for that raw and aggressive style. It's the songwriting that sucks.

Yeah i get you, i meant there was a lack of variation in the playing style really. Its like when you listen to hatebreed, sometimes you long for one of the players to come out with something new and interesting as apposed to trying to bludgeon you to death with chugging.

First SJR is okay...nothing fantastic, but way better than A Lethal Dose....
And Hatebreed, while not going crazy with solos and a slew of tempo changes, would slaughter SJR. SJR is just ripping off of Black Flag and Bad Religion and other acts that were so punk they were metal...and SJR is just failing miserably at attempting to copy this style. Phil, while managing to be a beyond decent vocalist, is just so fucking stoned and burned out that it's starting to show finally (as if it didn't before).
Hatebreed, while sometimes being monotonous, still manages to pack a wallop with every crunch. And really, the only album to me that isn't spectacular by Hatebreed is the first (Under the Knife)...and even it has some spectacular moments.

'Use Once And Destroy' (The SJR debut), is fun to listen to. It's not great by any means but it aint bad.
With Hatebreed, I'd have to echo everyone's sentiments that they are monotonous and very one dimensional. A one trick pony if you like. They have their moments but I generally look for a little more or at least something different to what they're offering, in terms of modern brutality they aren't bad but I'd rather brutality of other bands playing grind and death. I've been digging Carcass and Autopsy heaps lately.

Hatebreed are best seen live, where the energy and brutality of their stuff is best appreciated. They even played a little "Raining Blood" at the start of one of their tracks.Methinks Gloria won't be interested in em' come Soulfly's next Aussie tour. They're not the kinda band I can listen to constantly 'cause they're output is limited but I'd see em' again anytime really.
The band I've been digging most lately is Arch Enemy.

A lot of people are gunna groan at me bringing up this name, but the Hatebreed stuff kinda reminds me of how I see the Slipknot albums.
I couldn't ever get the entire way through the first album because by track 9 it just bored me to tears. It became so damn monotonous, that I rekon I could have sung lyrics to other songs to whatever I was listening to at the time.
But I think we've all established how one-dimensional Hatebreed is.....
I too am really digging Arch Enemy lately, and after purcahsing Burning Bridges yesterday, I still tend to like the chick singing instead. Theres just something more about her voice that I like.

NICK OLIVERI: 'QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Is No More' - Feb. 18, 2004
Former QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist Nick Oliveri has posted the following message on the web site of his MONDO GENERATOR project:
"Hello everybody. I'm in L.A., and it's getting to be too much. You know what I mean? I'm ready to go out on tour again with MONDO GENERATOR. I just wanted to tell you folks what's really goin' on — good news and bad news. The bad news, which you all know, is that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, as we all know it, is no more. I heard it's now called 'QUEENS LITE.' Unfortunately, I was fired, and Mark Lanegan decided to cut out from the QUEENS and focus on his solo project. His new record will be out this spring.
"Anyways, a pure idea has been polluted. It's funny. 'a band about an idea? The concept was simple: A ROCK BAND, selfless, mindless, ego-free, unprotected, about danger, sex, and no bullshit rock 'n roll. You know what happens when a pure and original rock band gets polluted, poisoned by hunger for power, and by control issues? Things get really out of control. I'm noticing that people start fighting for control, especially when they realize they have no control. And what ever happened to loyalty?
"The strongest leaders are chosen by their followers, not self-appointed. The best front men are chosen by their fans. At one time, the thing I really loved about the QUEENS was that there were three front men, organic and original. I'd never heard of a rock band with three lead singers, with three different voices. My favorite band is dead.
Q.O.T.S.A.
R.I.P.
"Oh yeah, the good news is now I'll be focusing on MONDO GENERATOR full-time. I've been listening to mixes of the live recording from MONDO's L.A. Troubadour show, getting it ready for release. In my spare time I'll still have time to play with other bands. Not only have I played on Mark's new record, but I also spent some time last week at Barefoot Studios recording vocals on a few DWARVES tracks. I hadn't worked with Blag since the recording of 'A Drug Problem that Never Existed', and it's been two years since I worked with Eric Valentine on 'Songs for the Deaf'. I had a lot of fun. It reminded me of the old days when the three of us worked on 'Young and Good Looking' and 'Come Clean', the last two DWARVES records.
"I'll check in again soon. I'm heading out to the desert to work on some new MONDO songs.
"See y'all later, Nick"

More QOTSA news... well more up to date news....
This is from nme.com dated 18/02/04
"Josh, who has been friends with Nick since they were teenagers, told NME.COM last week that the split was the "hardest thing" but that he’d rather stay "brothers" with Nick than carry on with the band in its current state.
The day after playing his debut show with his other band Eagles Of Death Metal at the London Met Bar (February 10), we spoke to him backstage at Brixton Academy.
Josh explained that the split has come as the result of a "number of incidents occurring over the last 18 months" but refused to go into exact details. Rumours had been circulating that Josh has become unhappy with Nick’s partying and that things came to a head on the band's tour of Australia earlier this year.
Josh told NME: "For me it’s the hardest thing. I will never talk shit about my bro or anything like that. Nick and I are still definitely that. I love making music and stuff but it’s more important to me to be brothers with Nick.
"Queens Of The Stone Age is a family of intense individuals. Everyone in the band is an individual and that was by design. It was what we were all looking for, to harness the chaos. There’s events that always happen. The thing that always brought Nick and I together is that we have different styles of doing the same thing. Nick is probably one of the most unafraid people I know, and I’m not afraid either. And that’s the reason we’re friends."
For his part, Nick is thought to have given a statement to unofficial fan site www.mondogenerator.net. He said: "I'm going to try to talk him into playing music with me. I didn't quit. I just don't get it. I just need to talk to Josh, but now I can't get in touch with him. I didn't get married to get divorced, and I didn't join this band to quit it. I'm not a quitter, I want to make another fuckin' record, I think Queens is a great fuckin' band. It's crazy the band of no rules now has fuckin' rules. I just want people to know because I'm not a fuckin' flake and I didn't quit."
Now, Josh is concentrating on the fourth Queens Of The Stone Age album, which will be a return to his roots and inspired by the events of the last year. Recording sessions are due to start in spring, with the album scheduled to come out before the end of the year."

That festival kicked ass last year...Rage, Nightwish, Symphony X, etc. It's a guaranteed good setlist...other bands playing past years have been Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Kamelot...
Speaking of, the promoter says that this year there'll be one "one-night only, world exclusive" show. Any guesses? I was thinking Rhapsody with Christopher Lee, Therion, Avantasia, Demons & Wizards, Star One...one of those combination uberbands.

Soulside Journey is cool. But they went completely regressive after that. Minimalist and cold production, and primitive instrumentation. GO! nodded towards 'A Blaze In The Northern Sky' which is fucking tops. But the 2 albums following that (Under A Funeral Moon, Transylvanian Hunger) are just as good. The only Darkthrone album I find slightly annoying is 'Ravishing Grimness', that fucking bullwhip cracking all the way through the first track is like chinese water torture. Make sure you get all the Peaceville reissues of the first 4 albums where you get the candid interviews which they made themselves whilst out at some forest hut.
As for Celtic Frost, get the first 3 albums, I find 'To Mega Therion' to be my favourite as it is the most consistent. 'Into The Pandemonium' is really experimental and continues where 'To Mega Therion' left off. I need the debut, 'Morbid Tales' very badly. I've heard it's a good idea to stay away from the 2 albums that followed '...Pandemonium'. 'Cold Lake' is suppose to be like gay glam thrash tripe and the one that followed that wasn't much better.
Back to Darkthrone, their unofficial misson statement is to pretty much get people to listen to old Celtic Frost and old Bathory. Darkthrone's latter albums are very C.Frosty.
You should get some Autopsy into ya. Really dirty, doomy and sludgy death metal. You're into gore and all that shit? It's right up your alley. Get 'Mental Funeral' and 'Severed Survival' to start with, they're cheap Peaceville reissues too.
So now you know what to get. The rest of the Darkthrone reissues and work from there and get some good old fashioned gore/death, Autopsy. Try some Carcass too(Symponies of Sickness and Necroticism : Descanting The Insalubrious).
CoB are the goods. They should tour with Anthrax/Soilwork/KsE ;)

Just a word of warning, Burnz.
Darkthrone post-Soulside Journey isn't easy listening. It's a sort of try before you buy dealie. Either you love them or you hate them.

Pain Of Salvation are rather fucking cool I must say, although they do take some time to get used to anyway.
This one's for BurnZ-anyone seen any recent Anthrax setlists? I'm interested to get some idea of what they'll play next month.
And I've promised Lord Tim I'll purchase his solo album at Opeth if they're selling em'.Haha.

Nice topic,Mick.I'm working towards completing my Devin Townsend collection as well.Other bands I feel compelled to complete their back catalogues are Sepultura (I'm even going to pick up the somewhat rare "Third World Posse" EP),and to a large degree Iron Maiden,Slayer and Anthrax.
Third World Posse is rare? Well I'll be damned....
As for me, I just love collecting CD's. So anything I have I always want an entire collection.
But then I get that situation where I love a band, and they'll bring out a new album thats absolute shite.
I stopped collecting Offspring albums after stupid Americana al;bum or whatever it was called....
Although, I'd still love to complete my collection of Devy stuff, and probably get complete stuff by Soilwork as well....
I have the entire Lamb Of God stuff, even if it is only 3 albums ;)

Well,it's long out of print I believe,Monks. Also note that I used the word "somewhat".Haha.
As for Soilwork, the only album I don't own is "Steelbath Suicide".I even have a special double-CD edition of FNF that I picked up from overseas.
I also picked up Third World Posse cheap from EBay.

Well I'm glad you chucked that 'Haha' in there. Cos who'd wanna buy a solo album from a guy who makes pompous power metal and goes off and does a solo album of pompous power metal? With a pompous name like Lord Tim? Yeah, baby. Pompousity.

Lyrics mean shit to me. I couldn't care less whether the lyrical substance was satan in all his goatliness or how cool spiked butt plugs are.....as long as the music is killer then I'm happy. See I think Euronymous (Mayhem) was a total cock, his message and attitude towards alot of things was laughable, but the bloke helped create a scene and was great on the guitar.

Although I prefer some good songwriting in addition to the music being killer.

Isn't good songwriting attributable to music being killer? Or do you mean lyrics?
Still, lyrics mean shit to me. I can't understand what's being said in 90% of the music I listen to. There's a grind/death band by the name of Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition who don't use lyrics or name songs (like Karma To Burn) and the vocalists just make what they feel most appropriate noise to suit the music.
Kind of like in wrestling, I like music with good psychology. It tells a story and creates feeling and atmosphere and grabs your attention.

I was referring to the lyrics as much as the composition of the music itself really.
I bought Stuck Mojo's "Violated" EP today for $10,it's not as good as their albums but if you dig SM it's worth checking out anyway.

i was at the library yesturday looking at the DVD's and found something that surprised me. Slayer's War at the Warfield DVD. i immediately picked it up. i had only heard 2 or 3 songs before watching the DVD. i really like the songs, Bloodline, Hell Awaits, Disciple, Here Comes the Pain, and Dead Skin Mask which is my favorite song that i've heard.
the DVD is pretty good. they got some fucked up fans though. and this really drunk or retarded guy was really funny.
i got 2 wrestling related things to say.
for one the guatarist Kerry King looks like A-Train.
Brock should use 'Here Comes the Pain' as his theme song.
i was wondering what would be a good album of their's to get? i hear 'Seasons in the Abyss' is their best album, but i was thinking about getting 'God Hates Us All' because a lot of the songs that i listed are on it.

Well of course it'll have GHUA tracks on that album since thats the one they were promoting.
I'm sure GO! will come in and say something that their early stuff is the best. But I started with Seasons (Seasons was MY first Slayer song) and that really isn't a bad place to start imo.

More like A-Train looks like Kerry King rather than vice versa. I'm sure Kezza has been doing the bald with bonus beard look longer then Albert.
Plus I think 'Here Comes The Pain' was originally written for Test but was said to be 'too heavy'.
I read the inital reports of Franky leaving Anthrax earlier today whilst Borry from b-mouth said to take the info with a grain of salt. Looks to be pretty much confirmed.
Picked up:
Decapitated - The Negation
Nile - Blacks Seeds Of Vengeance
Mayhem - Mediolanum Capta Est
I'm really digging my technical death metal right now. I have Akercocke to blame, whom most recently reignited my passion for the scene.

Yep,they did record it for Test originally.I love the old pics of Kerry when the hair was all long.As for Slayer, their recent stuff is decent, but the only really essential albums IMO are RIB,Seasons and Hell Awaits, although the "Haunting The Chapel" EP is worth owning just for "Chemical Warfare".If you like what you hear, pick up thee rest of their back catalogue.

The Nile CD is awesome.
I was going to pick up the same Mayhem CD when I was at the record store, but I was looking for De Mysteriis... or Live in Leipzig instead. :\ I think I ended up buying Zyklon and Dying Fetus instead that day.
I've been getting into Dissection's Storm of the Light's Bane/WDAL CD more. I used to only listen to Night's Blood, Where Dead Angels Lie, and the Antichrist cover, but now I want to hit myself in the head for being so stupid. But it's no surprise; I "rediscover" albums all the time.
I'm weird.

'Mediolanum Capta Est' is pretty cool. You get Gollum aka Maniac on vocals with a nice little duet with Attila Csihar on 'From the dark past', I hated Attila's vocals to start with but they've grown on me...there aint nobody else like him. This means I have 3 Mayhem live albums :/
I don't see much point in getting any other Mayhem releases as I hate getting EP's. I'll be fucked if I shell out $AU30 ($US15?) for 17 minutes of music. What a rort.
Man! I did the same thing with that Dissection reissue! I listened to it bugger all when I first got it then I took it to work one day and I must have played it several times in a row. It's good shit \m/

I love Slayer, anyways my favourite Slayer album is Reign In Blood.. which is just about the best thrash metal album ever. Just from the first track onwards, the album rocks.
but Reign In Blood, South Of Heavan, Seasons In The Abyss and God Hates Us All are all good albums, so any of those would be a welcome addition to any good metal collection I would think

Totally off topic but...I was bored yesterday and decided to dig into my cd collection and happened to pull out Korn's first album. I forgot how much that cd rocks. It's hella better than their last few efforts and this is coming from a guy that loves bands like Opeth, Symphony X, In Flames, and Mastadon. I'm all for bashing Korn for the music that they put out now but damn their first one is killer in my opinion.
Also, anyone get the Opeth DVD yet? Just wondering if the documentary is actually worth watching or not.

I'm DYING to get the Slayer box set.
And Show No Mercy is alright for what it is... a completely lost first effort. But anything from Reign in Blood to Divine Intervention is worth owning.
I'm also dying for the Opeth DVD.
Damn me for not having enough time to hit a record store...
And Korn's first album is the only one of theirs that is really essential listening. The rest are ugh...although the second album's alright in spots.

Apparently Mortal Sin's reunion gig the other night was killer, maybe they'll play at MFTB this year.
