tonight's dynamite was a great go home show. really the last two weeks have done a ton to build up my anticipation of the wembley show.
All of this. In comparison to some of the dream cards being touted a while back it's still a disappointing card and the build for some matches has been lacklustre but this show did so much to bring me back in. GREAT promos from MJF, Ospreay, Jericho and Christian. Loved the awkwardness of the FTR/Bucks sit down. Eddie Kingston sold the emotion of Fenix's attack brilliantly as usual. The only miss was Swerve's nonsensical turn on AR Fox and Darby's sudden forgiveness.

Concur that the turn on Fox seems premature, but part of me also wonders if it might be a...well...a swerve to have him sabotage the other team. Not getting my hopes up there.
Otherwise I agree that this was an awesome episode. Felt so hot and made the card feel like a big deal. One nice touch I liked about the MJF/Cole interviews was that with all this story, you wouldn't expect Cole to be the one the flip out and shut down the interview when his friendship was questioned. It feels incredibly in character after stuff like the McAffee incident, and was a unique wrinkle that makes you buy into the fact that MJF is maybe being genuinely genuine for once and Cole is the asshole in the situation. Don't think it pans out that way in the end, but it was a nice touch that keeps people on their toes.
Also that Osprey/Jericho promo was way better than it had any right to be. And Mix/Fenix was a legit barnburner.

Yeah, that AR Fox heel turn reminded me of Ahmed Johnson joining the Nation back in the day. Pointless.

Still going to make the show but bloody fuming. Bet it’s lack of staff at Heathrow or something.

Hope you got there OK, Badger.
Seeing all the build up now and all the folks on X talking about it and I do wish I'd gotten a ticket now. 6pm start time means getting home probably wouldn't have been a problem. Oh well.
I hope the weather holds. Looking forward to watching the show later on.

Some the camera work / production / whatever you want to call it is shite. It's like they have no idea what the wrestlers are going to do (but then, I suppose that's sort of kayfabe...)... and this coffin match has gone on about 10 minutes too long.

Also headscratcher that they're running an Inoki tribute show on a day where New Japan can't send any wrestlers. That relationship is getting very weird. Especially with the rumor that come January AEW is basically signing every foreigner in the company.

Ask miro
Badger
August 28th, 2023, 7:51 AM
Yeah can’t say for sure but Miro is denying what’s been reported. Anyway some quick highlights. I don’t know how the reactions came across for people buying the show but it seemed like they really only started to get really loud later in the night. Hard to judge accoustics with such a large stadium/audience.
- Pre-show tag was fun. Aussie Open got a few “Aussie Wankers” chants in our bit. It’s amusing how the double clothesline” is being amusingly treated like a death move. Expected win for MJF/Cole.
- Beers were unsurprisingly extortionate but then it is London and stadium prices. Had a nice bucket of wings though! One guy walked away raging at just the price of bottles! I just took the hit.
- Jack Perry got “Jungle Wanker” chants (we’re real imaginative) and a fun brawl. There was the glass spots which Perry referenced lol. Hook got the belt back and his long-awaited revenge but don’t know where Perry is going to go from here.
- Punk/Joe was okay, a bit better than their Collision bout. Interesting finish with the top rope pedigree, kinda wondered if that was a shot at HHH. Not like Punk to be passive aggressive! Most of our section was into Punk but I was cheering Joe. That would be sorta the theme. Guy sitting right next to my left was just taking photos and not reacting to anything. I don’t know if he was just a journalist/reviewer or something.
Six-man was good. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see “Cardblade” lol. Takeshita getting the duke and continuing to be booked strong is great to see.
Stadium Stampede it was a bit hard to keep up with even with the screens. Some nice “You Sick Fuck” chants especially when OC jammed his fists into the bucket of tacks. Sue coming out and handing out “weapons” was funny like the “cookies/biscuits”on trays was funny and got some pops. The obligatory Moxley bleeding. Nice staredown at the end with Moxley/Kingston then OC getting the win.
FTR/Bucks was amazing and delivered like they always do. Not sure if it was the best out of the three as would have to watch them all back but it was amazing to see live. Plenty false finishes, Big Rigs, Superkicks, Meltzer Driver, Sharpshooters. They packed a lot in.
Oh yeah Acclaimed/House of Black. I kinda thought “Bad-Ass” Billy Gunn might’ve gotten his own entrance seeing it was meant to be a different persona. Nevertheless it was great to finally see him live after watching him for all these years. Although I think the feud’s gone on maybe a bit long, nice moment for the Acclaimed/Billy in front of such a huge crowd. Strange but understandable watching but not getting the scissoring until the end. I was screaming “Scissor Me Daddy Ass” throughout. Nice finish with him kicking out of Black Mass and all the Fameassers plus Mic Drop.
The women’s 4-way was really fun. The end especially was fire when Storm elbowed Saraya’s sister and got a loud “You fucked up” chants. I see there was rumours of Banks/Mone showing up but tbh not bothered. Really happy for Saraya getting her big moment in front of that huge crowd in her country. Looks like the Outcasts may be splitting.
Jericho/Ospreay was really fun and seeing Fozzy/Jericho performing Judas live was such a treat and singing along. Again most of our section cheering Ospreay but I was pulling for Jericho even though it was obvious Ospreay was getting the win.
I really enjoyed the main event personally but will say the story really did help it. I can understand if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea as there was a bit of pantomime involved but being there live it was really fun to watch if maybe not so hot for people buying the show. The clothesline stuff double pin played into the story nicely and the back and forth about cheating and Cole wanting Strong’s help which ultimately cost him the win when he rejected him. I will say I am surprised (in a good way) that they are continuing Cole/MJF being friends as would have expected a turn way before by now. Of course it could still happen but I am enjoying the ride. I think our section was a bit more biased towards MJF but I was cheering for both. Poor butthurt Strong lol.
The pyro, lights and fireworks were just amazing visuals live! Especially when lit up at night. Although my bank account has taken a huuuge hit! Overall amazing experience which I will probably do again but probably not going to fly. Apparently problems with air traffic control systems today and due to fly back tomorrow night so don’t know if it will be sorted by then.

I actually went back and forth. It may have been the best way to keep Max purely in the less-aggressive side of it. I didn't like it in the moment, but kinda have it in the "reserve final judgement" category.

When you combine every promoter's love for Adam Cole and combine it with an MJF storyline that gets a reaction......Tony might book this forever. The Bloodline might look like short-form storytelling.

New story going around is that Punk and Perry are suspended while they investigate and both miss All Out. Yeah I call BS on that. Punk will not miss All Out. He will be at tv and everything.
Now I get that Perry started this but just seems like drama follows Punk. He is not always the asshole but because he is trying to be the good locker room vetern and what not he seems to be causing drama even when he doesn't mean to. He probably be better off just keeping his mouth shut and not being so involved with people unless asked but we know that isn't going to happen.

If any of this stuff is true which nobody involved in any of the last 2 stories have came out publicly and addressed it.
If Tony Khan is giving him the power to flex then he doesn't need to shut his mouth about anything. Despite what some fans think including myself about CM Punk he has earned a spot at the table. Jungle Boy hasn't. Jungle Boy is one of the youngsters along with Hangman who not too long ago were publicly saying they don't need to listen to the vets they've got it all figured out. Do they? Doesn't look like it. Then they get all bitch when the veteran who is calling the shots, no different than a Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes in the NWA, tells them not to use glass.
So I think Punk is someone who you know what you're getting yourself into if you want to make it more than what it needs to be. People Hangman or Jungle Boy, those are the people who need to shut their mouth they haven't done anything in this business. At all.

Jungle Boy is totally in the wrong but as someone that caused a big ass mess last year I feel like Punk should not have come back and take control of the locker room and such like he has. I don't blame him at all for telling Perry hey don't use glass. That is one thing I think Punk shouldn't have kept his mouth shut about.
And yeah Khan knows what he gets with Punk but why fucking make waves when you come back and try to act like you are doing it for the better of the locker room. This is more towards the shit with Nemeth and not wanting the talent relations person at Collision. Fuck just go do anything but cause waves. Again the shit with Jungle Boy is really on Jungle Boy. He is being a bitch in this case. Punk was not the asshole in that situation.
Minus the Jungle Boy situation he is causing drama even if he is not trying to cause drama. Sit back and just be a vet for the wrestlers and offer advice like he has done. Why say certain people can't be there. That doesn't help any situation.

I was generally of the mindset that AEW was going to be fine without Punk and he really should've only been signed if it was like a worst-case scenario and they were grasping at straws. Yes, they're getting a bigger deal with him involved, but I'd like to think they were going to be heading that way once they got healthier in terms of the roster. The juice didn't feel worth the squeeze to me.
Once again, a huge and important night for the company is getting derailed by backstage drama and physicality is involved. Punk is either the victim or the problem. We're seeing a pattern of multiple instances where he's reportedly taking on a role that's bigger than his classification, involved in blowups, and creating a list of enemies that want nothing to do with him or he's ostracizing them.
He just doesn't feel worth the hassle. The company was showing it could be viable before him and I think they would be viable after him.

Precisely.
My personal feelings about Punk aside and an initial spike in viewership upon his debut, what has he really brought to the table for the company since he showed up? Mostly backstage problems even if not all at fault he’s been the centre of it all. Big chunk of it injured attempting the finisher of a man he despises which is funny irony in itself.

Why do we not direct this same energy toward Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks? They dictate who can and can't be at all 3 shows. They're the EVPs yet instead of handling the CM Punk situation like an EVP would, they try to bow up and got beat up.
I think that's ultimately what bothers people is that some fans of AEW just want the vets to sit back and be told what to do by the non drawing nobodies like Hangman and Jack Perry. People are quick to jump at CM Punk and literally give everyone else a pass.
Be thankful Punk isn't handling like the veterans of his day who would beat your ass in and out of the ring, do fucked up ribs, and ultimately drive you out of the business. Let's try to make it make sense instead of just expecting CM Punk of all fucking people to just allow these people to do and say what they want and go unchecked. Again, if I saw that same energy from people toward everyone else it would make sense. This is low hanging fruit.

People need to wake up and realize that CM Punk isn't any more of a problem than Sammy Guevara. But because it's CM Punk it's easy to cry about him. 25 years later people still expecting Punk to bend for the industry when it's been the industry forced to bend for him. It's mind blowing that we overlook all the other issues not involving CM Punk, some of which happened long before he even came out of retirement but it's CM Punk. Not Tony Khan, not the EVPs who prance around and talk shit and throw jabs at Punk while he's out injured making light of the beating those 3 took backstage.
Where was the outrage when Kenny Omega was making light of the situation? But the split second Punk responds oh he should be the bigger man be the vet. Motherfuckers acting like Kenny Omega and the Bucks aren't 20 years in the game themselves lol.

We get it man. You think Punk’s an easy target for fans just because it’s him and yes there’s been other shit with other guys in the past. Matbe some fans are OTT but there’s a reason for that. Over the past year since that media scrum mess, he’s always been at the centre of it. Yeah he came back for money, I mean who wouldn’t but he just had to stir the shit. Has to use that media scrum to vent out his frustrations bringing negative attention because he just can’t help himself. He just has to air the dirty laundry. Nearly every time he might just have a point, he just cancels that by being a bitch.

Again, your clear bias toward Punk is entertaining.
Maybe educate yourself before speaking from blind emotion. Why does CM Punk but nobody have to just let things go? Why is it ok for The Elite to poke the bear while the dude was out with an injury making fun of the fact they got beat up by Old Man Ace and One Armed Punk?
Not to mention, the last 2 stories that we've heard, not a single person involved ever came out and spoke on it. We read dirtsheet posts on social media.

Not once was I even defending the Elite or anything and between the two stories there’s probably some truth. It’s the manner in which he comes out with this shit. Btw Khan isn’t blameless either as he’s the ringmaster who can’t control the circus but it’s the fact he brings these issues to the forefront every time and makes such a public stink. Why did he have to do it at the media scrum? Why even work with these guys?…oh yeah money lol. No matter who’s right or wrong in the Elite shit, he’s the one that caused the public stink.
You’ll no doubt disagree again but he just can’t help but being a bitch about every public grievance no matter who’s right or wrong in the case it makes it hard to feel sorry for him.

The best part is....We're basing this info on 5th hand info and for all we know none of it happened. If CM Punk is a bitch for calling out the wrestling media and their cornball friends like Hangman and The Bucks so be it. I'm not that big of a mark to where I'm sour that a wrestler shit on dirtsheets and the people who feed them bullshit. The funny part is, there's proof I was sour about Punk and the scrum because I had to show respect to Omega/Bucks for at the very least having the sack to go to this man's dressing room and confront him. They got beat up, then they decided when they returned from suspension to make light of the situation but that's ok to you.
Punk this Punk that, but everyone else gets the pass. Again, AEW had problems before and while he was gone. There's a bigger issue but Punk, being the top shelf name that he is, gets a lot of the shine. It helps get clicks and views on podcasts and social media pages, it helps enrage the fans who want to be Kenny's next Yoshihiko.

I wonder at what point Tony Khan think he isn't worth it anymore.

I think the fact either was suspended is hilarious. For what? Booker T and Batista went into a room during a Summerslam photoshoot and scrapped. Zero suspensions. And they were friends lol.
I just think that some fans and wrestlers want to see the headline "CM Punk Fired!" and they'll use it as some sort of victory in their lives. CM Punk can kind of come across as a Karen but the people who blindly attack him are the worst Karens. I'm not shocked Peter Griffin hates the guy he's the same guy who called the cops because he saw people walking outside his parents loft.

At all.
I think Hangman and Jungle Boy are two different entities. Perry's line seems immature. It wasn't relevant to what was going on in the show. Maybe Punk annoyed him, or got too pissy, and he wanted to take a shot. I don't know. And I'm not sure how much I care (which probably means I will type 15 more responses).
I don't have any issue with what Hangman said to Punk in the middle of their feud.
I still compare Hangman's statement to things Punk said to/about people as he was moving up the card, it's hard not to see some level of disconnect. History remembers Punk more kindly because he's better on the mic, and it worked out. While we completely agree that Khan empowers Punk, if your compass is defined by "I can get away with it", it's kinda hard to claim the moral superiority.
Punk reminds me a bit of Eddie Kingston at this point. Eddie will take all kinds of shots at people as people or anything about them. But mentioning his weight is unprofessional or bad for business. Punk gonna continue to cut promos where, he as one of the best on the mic we've had, will take shots at people. But any allusions to anything people don't like about him will be cause for quick escalation.
Or not. Let's ask Miro.

Just to show how inconsistent the reporting is...I was just on Twitter and now we're hearing reports that CM Punk wasn't even notified of a suspension. Did TK come out and say anything yet?
Also, what's up with the story with Punk and the travel situation when he arrived in London? If he's given so much power from Tony how do you fuck that up? That's some local comic book store bringing you in for a signing type bullshit lol.

Let's also keep in mind that CM Punk doesn't start any of this he just goes in and finishes it apparently lol. You want to go into business for yourself during a back and forth promo on live tv, you want to feed the dirtsheets lies about Colt Cabana, you want to say you don't care what veterans have to say and then go on live ppv and talk that shit thinking because your dad was Luke Perry and your gf sleeps with the boss=bulletproof...well, you found out--IF it's even true.

That last word is the problem. If it escalates, apparently that's when lawyers are going to get involved. No one has to get a lawyer involved in promo battles but if it escalates to physicality, we've got an issue.
FWIW, the reason Punk reportedly wasn't told by Khan about the suspension is because Khan went to Punk's lawyer and delivered the news that way.
Maybe David Zaslav will start to call him “no chill Phil.”

I dunno man. This is the same guy who went on interview tour talking shit about the Rock, because he didn't say "Hi" in the hall, and apparently only the Rock could initiate greetings in those settings. Maybe those things don't count cause they were audio interviews, and not dirtsheets. Talks a lot of shit on Miz, and then one "culture" joke back and he goes all in saudi-blood covered (certainly not a financial situation Punk profited from, but I digress). He and AJ apparently got into a backstage incident with Michelle Beadle ffs. And the Colt Cabana thing...where was Colt going on things talking about Punk? Not that I'm saying Colt doesn't have issues.
I struggle with Punk is always the innocent respondent who just refuses to be bullied. On his ESPN interview, he talked about how he couldn't trust Hangman not to hurt him because of personal issues. Imagine, given the people Punk has had issues with, if Punk applied that standard to himself.
There's even minor things that Punk gets mad about, like Cody texting him to talk rather than call (in fairness Punk is closer to my age, and some of us GenX are still REALLY insistent on text/call protocols).
Any one of these things, we have limited info. It seems a lot with Punk. And we've got enough words straight from his mouth that he can be very rigid in his views, and lack some self-awareness. And he tends to have strong reactions to when things don't go his away.
I agree though. There will probably be a lot of people piling on at some point. If there aren't already.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that I literally said CM Punk can be a Karen as well. But in these specific to AEW situations that we are talking about, why are we seeing so many people crying about CM Punk responding?
If you want to start up a "Bitch about CM Punk" Thread I'm down to talk about all of those things you're mentioning that have almost nothing to do with the Elite or Jungle Boi scenarios. Those other scenarios don't count because they have nothing to do with what we're talking about. It's almost like a knee jerk reaction with a lot of people who follow AEW. "WHAT ABOUT THIS TIME!?!?!" Who cares about what he said about The Rock, what about what John Cena and Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley and Dolph Ziggler have said about The Rock? See why it's pointless? lol
Miro is the best man.

I get your point. I think my main thing is that I don't know that I confidently see CM Punk as the respondent in the majority of the situations. As you said previously, a lot is based on dirt sheets. Did CM Punk throw Colt not want to see Colt? He says no. Other people seem to think yes. So then was he for sure the person not throwing the first shot? Even in AEW specifically, there wasn't much coming from the Elite, and then there was the SI interview which very much directly attacked people's professionalism. And then the shots have been fairly one-sided (at least in public) since then. I have no idea how it went down with Jungle Man Boy Jack Perry, but I have no reason to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. We both don't believe the dirt sheets. And we both think CM Punk is often a Kingston (can we call wrestling Karens "Kingstons"-if we're going to have things that should be one).
So, not trying to disagree with many of your overall points.
The big thing I feel differently on is given the last however many years of Punk is about the originator. On many of these, I have no idea who the first person to be a problem was. I guess I'm less confident in the timeline reporting accuracy (in absence of a statement from Miro). He was probably in the right sometimes. Probably in the wrong somtimes at the start. From the last however many years, I just assume he's the guy who is going to escalate it all the way up at some point, and never see a perspective where he is not completely justified. But you already said he's a karen, so yes we both find his rationalizations grating and self-serving.
You know who could have brought piece to this whole thing? CJ Perry.
She took her bumps like a champ, won the respect of her peers, and still has a happy family despite Rusev's frustations professionally, she keeps their life even keel.

AEW ruined that move 3-4 years ago where the fuck have these idiots been?
Shit Adam Cole uses it as a finisher and it usually takes about 4-5 to put someone away.
The sequence was stupid, like most in modern wrestling especially in companies like AEW. It's just one of those things you have to look past because it's not going away. It's been this way for at least 15 years.

Shout out to the fans who are dropping $100 over the last week on AEW ppvs. When you think about how much it costs for a UFC ppv, usually around $70-80 this isn't a bad deal.
Tonight we should find out if Punk is going to be there. I think he will be and THEN "suspended" Which honestly just shows how different wrestling has become. We're now suspending people for backstage scuffles instead of just calling it a day. Did anyone want to see them work together? There's 900 people on the roster they don't need to.
It's sad for me as an AEW fan to think that the product is apparently so bad that the internet gossip is more interesting. That's on us as fans. WE should be talking about the ppvs but instead WE are crying about an altercation where the story has changed about 17 times now in the matter of 5 days lol. Holy shit. From what he said on the scrum, he likes the idea because All In coincided with a UK holiday and All Out he sees as sort of a Labor Day weekend event, and that he has enough faith in his roster for it to work.
He wants to continue doing it that way, which I think is still ultimately a mistake. But to his credit, it worked this time.

The real answer: He doesn't have to worry about making money to pay his talent and other employees because he is a billionaire. A real one.
Someone said this guy was all about eWr or e-feds like that and I can totally see it. I loved eWr back in 2001-2002. Very fun simulation.
Very similar to TNA. Only the Carters weren't Khan rich so when they realized the 15-20 ppvs they were doing a year (12+those weird gimmick ppvs) were only getting like 10-15,000 buys they basically told Dixie and co. "no more" and Impacts became special edition shows. Tony doesn't have to worry about that so having 2 shows on ppv back to back doesn't seem too out of whack. I'm thinking in hindsight he probably made enough money between the 2 shows that it doesn't really matter.

If all the things to worry about with AEW, money is not it. Seriously, they have had one of the largest gates in sports history and people think they are going bankrupt, because of Punk or Collision having a small audience the week college football starts or a number of other reasons. AEW is more financially stable than TNA has ever been. I would argue once the WWE takeover happens this week or next, its just another asset in a giant company. Sometimes after a while people get bored with those things and move them or lose them. I don't see that happening with WWE, because they are still a cash cow even though they are losing Fox money all over the place.

Danielson and Starks and Hobbs and Miro ruled. Takeshita and Kenny was great too.
Haven't seen the last 2 matches yet.
Missed Collision last week also. Is Danielson out of the BCC now and a face? Has that been explained at all yet?
Bryan said they ride the line when needed, and that he was only really seen as a good guy because he was defending Steamboat, someone who he respects and idolizes to the highest degree both IRL and in-character. So it's not a split from the BCC nor is it necessarily a face turn as much as Bryan doing what Bryan would have done regardless of alignment.

I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say this company would be going bankrupt. I've heard the ratings will tank. They lost 100,000 viewers when TK announced the firing of CM Punk. Literally turned the fuckin show off for one dude.
AEW is more financially stable than TNA which I pointed out. The Carters are rich but not Khan rich. Khans own the Jaguars, who have sucked the majority of the time they've owned the team so that right there tells me it's not about being the best, it's not about anything other than being able to say "I own this" Which is typical of rich folk, I'd be the same way.

Maybe it's simply a matter of the 2 main companies I've seen him in he was never really given much to work with and it was usually in the midcard. So I'd like to see him get a top shelf push but IDK if he will truly get it.

I'll always have love for Prince Nana. I feel like The Embassy has consistently been one of the more underhwleming stables in ROH history, with one of its best runs mostly being a vessel to make Ciampa a star(No disrespect to Jimmy Rave). But Nana just has this certain air about him that always amuses me.
Here's hoping Swerve and Mogul Embassy can make something more meaningful with a Hangman feud. I've always liked Swerve, but I agree with Nash that his output wasn't fully hitting, and I think a part of that has been booking. This has potential, and is probably one of the better spots to use Hangman. Put him in personal feuds with other wrestlers who aren't quite title ready but have nothing better to do.

That's the thing....He's never really had anything special. Even with Ciampa, IMO Ciampa blew up more when he was with Truth Martini. Not taking anything away from his run with Nana but it just felt like when someone is paired up with Robbie E in NXT. It almost feels like he's just there because he's cool with people and maybe they want to break the record for longest running stable. Plus, these mashed up stables have been really, really bad. Inner Circle/Pinnacle, whatever that Matt Hardy/Andrade stable was called, now this. Stables on top of stables on top of stables.

I feel like everything he's done in AEW has been half foot in comedy, half foot in seriousness and it doesn't work at all for him. You have him and Hobbs with the crowd chanting Meat just making a joke out of the whole thing. The comedy in AEW is so poorly done it's not even worth excusing. We're probably on the verge of seeing a rehash of Rusev/Lana/Lashley because 90% of AEW storylines are continuations and/or callbacks to other promotions storylines. This multiverse shit is getting way out of hand.
I just want to see Miro go back to a time where it wasn't about cheap pops. Pre-Rusev Day. I'm sure he's a funny dude but it's like with Mick Foley. You kind of have to get to a certain level to be both killer AND comedian. Miro isn't there yet and probably never will be. He's not getting any younger and now that Strowman isn't there doing the ECW Sid gimmick, Wardlow can pick up where he left off. How does a guy go from squashing the World champion to being a forgotten cast member?

IDK. I just looked up his win/loss record over the last several months and he's beat absolutely nobody of worth. Most of the people I've never even heard of. His biggest wins were against Old Man Dustin and Shawn "How did I convince Peyton Royce to marry me AND birth children with me??" Spears. This has always been a problem with AEW. They have no clue how to book guys that are bigger than the Jericho's and Omega's. I'm shocked Moxley is where he is but he's also one of the best they have so it's pointless to argue his size. Even his push over the last year or so has been very questionable with this jobber stable he's in.

The collateral damage to Hobbs is nowhere near what was done to Wardlow. Yes Hobbs lost to Miro and tbh probably should’ve been nowhere near QTV but what’s happened to Wardlow is far worse. Potentially one of the biggest feuds in the company’s history with great backstory and Wardlow still looks like complete shit despite the symphony on MJF.
Then they hot-potatoed the TNT title with him when he should be at the top right now. Hobbs booking hasn’t been stellar but after a banger at All Out and got some heat back post-match. Definitely recoverable whereas Wardlow right now left in the dust.
Miro’s character isn’t really that bad. He wants his own success and rejecting even his own wife and letting go of all things holding him down even a nod to his WWE life. I’m fine with the character. It’ll be interesting how much she tries to get in his good books.

AEW has tried to build itself as a place where wins and losses matter. And I think they did in Early AEW.
Now they mean nothing more than any other organization. I would be in favor of a legit AEW show split. But they face the same problem as every other organization. It's way too easy to just have it be one more show that features the same top people, who make you the most money.
I've said this before, but Tony Khan has to diversify. He can't manage all these storylines, the business itself, and continue to evolve the product. The last year has been very stagnant. Right now, he's Vince with less yelling and fucking subordinates. TAEW needs a real writers room and an actual Head of Creative. Maybe BD can help there. Because realistically the only 2 companies in the entire world that are about growing talent that way are WWE and New Japan. I could be wrong. New Japan doesn't really have developmental though like NXT or OVW per se. So WWE is really ahead of the game and have been for 25+ years.
AEW is like many promotions out there. There's either a wrestling school affiliated with the promotion or they have a main training school they use which in AEW's case is the Nightmare Factory that Dustin Rhodes operates. Problem is, who the fuck has came out of there? Brock Anderson? Wow.

If he has this going on, it may be time (and maybe has) to seriously call it a day soon. It would be a huge loss but personally would rather see him retire healthy and be proud of his accomplishments.

Unless you have joined a wrestling school and have developed a gimmick called the PUNisher…then I withdraw.

That album united more black and white kids in my neighborhood than any other. I'm saying Miro's is a SHITTY version of that.
2-3 serious injuries in a row fucked her progression. Unintentionally booked as the Penny of the Best Friends crew and maybe all of AEW. Only we haven't really seen any personality. JR practically buried her the first 5-6 months she was around completely unaware of the gimmick. Her finisher could use some work. She's definitely someone who I think was in the plans to dethrone Jade for awhile even when she was hurt.
If Adam Sandler and Dwayne Johnson ever joined forces, they could bring harmony to this country.
Unfortunately, the Powers that Be will never let that happen.
On Statlander, even before injuries, it seems like she'll have a moment and then there's no immediate direction afterwards.

Jade Cargill going to WWE seemed to be inevitable. She tried out once before it didn't work out for whatever reason. Got a little bit of exposure in the wrestling world working for AEW. I always felt like they needed to shit or get off the pot with her. No real feuds of worth, no big matches. IDK why we never saw anything of substance with her in the women's title division. Maybe it was just timing.
Either way idk if it's truly a loss for AEW because again, what was she really doing other than winning? Even when she did have a storyline like the one with Nyla Rose it wasn't really featured, kind of took a 4th-5th spot behind the other women feuding which was odd considering Jade's this dominant champion...why wouldn't she be in the mix with the likes of Britt Baker? Or at least given that much time on tv.

I can see that if AEW had the ability to unlock that potential but since they never figured out what to really do with her for 3 years I don't think they cared. If they did, they would've tried harder I think. That's not really a knock on them. TK flat out said he likes to take people who have a following and put them on a bigger stage if possible. How many original concepts have we seen in AEW? What wrestler can you go "AEW created everything about them"? Next part isn't related to anything you're saying just wanted to be clear.
I think this is more about the brand. WWE transcended pro wrestling 35 years ago no one will ever be the next WWE or even a real competitor. Nobody in the real world cares if Edge shows up tonight or if Jade leaves AEW for WWE. Most people didn't even know Cody Rhodes had been wrestling this whole time.

I think with Jade is her having her be too dominant in that division in the midcard TBS women’s division though stats seem impressive, still seemed way too big for her. Also in general, the size and experience in that division, they didn’t know what to do with her. She’s made improvements but at the same time on a spectacle level, there’s been very few who look like they can match up with her.
I think Nyla was their best shot and that was interesting for a while. Kris…still took advantage to win the title off her but still meh. Moving to WWE with far more experienced hands, strong freaks like Rhea, Bianca (dare I say Nia) and Charlotte can only benefit her more than being in AEW can.

Yeah, it's pretty much AEW having this precious stone in their possession, but they either didn't know how to crack the outer shell or... they didn't know what they had. AEW's had a reputation for acquiring larger than life figures and just squandering them in record time. Say what you will about Punk, but AEW showed they are unable and incapable of holding onto someone like him. Now Jade's gone and their precious stone will be in someone else's hands, more capable hands? Time will tell. If Jade has it in her to learn and sharpen herself into the super star she can be, then AEW's loss will indeed be WWE's immense gain.
It's going to take time, but this is pro wrestling. It's all about time.

I agree. If you can't elevate your game with the talent in WWE men and women, you only have yourself to blame. With AEW like I said, I feel if they were really wanting her to reach that next level they would've taken her out of the TBS title picture or had her work with bigger names in the company like Britt, Saraya, etc. Not just hanging out in the midcard.

Regarding Jade Cargill- It's a loss to me.
Jade was one of their most featured females prior to her release. She was a home-grown talent. The backstage comments were that she was eager to learn. I think I'm higher on Jade's most recent mic work than some here, but I think she's got charisma. She was highly promoted and every time I saw, ripped the company well. Possibly the best look of anyone in the company.
I can see the argument that you might not miss her if she missed a show . But honestly, how many people on AEW isn't that true of?

I just don't think AEW sees their talent like WWE sees certain talent. I think with some of us we're thinking about Jade being more than a wrestler but a crossover star and how much easier that will be working for WWE than AEW. You don't see AEW hiring people with that mentality.

That's entirely possible. Who knows what goes on in the AEW planning room. For all we know, it changes with what Khan has for breakfast. I feel like they did at least make some efforts on that front with Cody. Another person who had charisma and a good look.....who AEW stans didn't appreciate sufficiently.
I completely get behind the argument that currently that AEW or WWE will rarely be impacted by the loss of one talent in any significant way. So, from that perspective, I get the "not a loss". And agree, Hell, Cody Rhodes is one of the biggest stars in the world right now, a huge success, and it could be argued that him leaving didn't really "hurt" AEW that much.
From another perspective f -over the last year and a half or so- I think she improved the segments she was on, was a strong presence, and one of their biggest female stars. I don't think the women's division is going that well, and I think she made it better, and actually had the potential to improve it more.
Nash Diesel

That's the thing. AEW, like everyone else, doesn't really look at their product and their talent like the WWE. That's a Vince McMahon thing and he's really the only one to truly master it. WCW couldn't even do it. Promoters just take what is getting over elsewhere and position it accordingly. VKM took that approach to the next level, learning from his father's mistake with the whole Hogan/Thunder Lips debacle. But Vince also has a knack for dictating who can do what so there are limits even in WWE. The women's division in AEW is so poorly booked it's not really a win or lose situation. You're just kind of there until Statlander gets hurt or Britt has to spell.

I'm torn. On one hand I can't blame Jade for going to WWE and grabbing that bag, and there are plenty of matchups there that would be great to see.
But I also feel like there's more she could do in AEW before making the inevitable jump to WWE. Namely, a longer program with Statlander, maybe a babyface run, and then a run with the Women's belt. She could be the dragon at the top of the division hoarding the gold and waiting for the next woman the company wants to elevate up the card.
I'd much rather see Jade with some more experience and seasoning show up in WWE, and another year in AEW would be the way to do it. But, as someone who likes Jade, I'm happy with either option. I think with training at the PC she'll do well.

I agree but they should've done all of this a year ago. She should've already been women's champion by now. She should've had programs with Toni Storm, Saraya, Britt Baker, but AEW for whatever reason didn't want to go that route. The other issue is that she wasn't getting any better. Honestly, even if she did get to work with some of the higher placed talent the matches would've been bad because the best worker AEW has in that division is a girl who can barely keep her neck in tact. The rest are pretty bad. She had to go to WWE. Hell even TNA would've been a step up in competition because of the caliber of women who work there compared to AEW.

I would say 99% of the non-WWE wrestling companies focus on just trying to win over Dave Meltzer and the story takes a backseat. That's why most of AEW's storylines are based on what talent did in other companies. Imagine if every time you saw a movie with Christian Bale they would try to incorporate and continue a story from the Nolan Batman trilogy because of how popular they were? That's AEW. TK has said it himself, he takes people who were big elsewhere and puts them on his platform. Very similar to what WCW used to do. Not giving anyone an excuse as it's lazy booking but again it goes back to how WWE does their thing and how everyone else does their thing.
Everyone is out there trying to get clout from the WWE and their fans, their investors, etc. So when CJ Perry and Miro are ANOTHER cuckhold storyline and when Dolph Ziggler shows up to give that Deadpool/Zack Morris 4th wall nod to the WWE their fans will be like oh shit they just gave a nod to that WWE storyline!! They must be so fucking cool.....
But this approach is what makes it easy to follow everyone outside the WWE. You really don't need to be invested in a single AEW storyline because their stories are very basic. If it's not a nod to the trinity-WWE/ECW/WCW then it's simply "I want to be better than you" And that's totally fine. That's what drew me into Japanese wrestling as a kid in the 90's when I had no clue what the fuck was going on-and you didn't have to it was just about rivalries and being the best. His career feels like it should've ended at Mania with the win over Balor ending the big feud with JD. I just don't see it as anything other than the same old shit with AEW. I can literally envision every interaction that could happen. MJF praises Edge's career while indirectly shitting on his wife, kids, and mentions his neck. We get a throwback to 30 years ago with Christian and the Hardyz. Maybe a decent tag match with FTR.
It's just like...why bring him in? He's 50+, the epitome of Mr. Glass, it's not going to elevate the product or the ratings. And Edge has nothing to prove idc if his best friend is there. Cargill is smart. She knows wwe will build her brand to the next level. AEW is a good wrestling alternative but it's no where near on par woth the entertainment side of things and the machine wwe has behind it. Now with the whole tko merger I think possibilities have skyrocketed even more. We will just have to wait and see on that. They've already created a big buzz on her just by her signing when she's still really green and new. She's getting damn near Ronda hype and she's not really done anything in her career to warrant that.
