i strongly disliked it actually. does everything have to come down to some over-wrought, "relatable" emotional monologue? to me it was out of character and out of place, and not compelling enough to justify it. classic case of overthinking and over-dramatizing something that doesn't need it.
I can appreciate where you’re coming from there but to me it was a zag when I thought they would zig which I didn’t expect and also a fact I and many others probably didn’t know about him. Took me off guard in a good way. A worked shoot touch of reality doesn’t do any harm.
MJF will still find a way in this to swerve Punk in a way and also still find a way to piss off Wardlow who kayfabe-wise probably also knew but may also still be fooled. Much more intriguing writing than just having MJF just do more cheap heat.

I dunno if it was THAT bad. Got to see Buddy back and a nice nod/wink to him and Black’s history. Kingston/Jericho promo was good. I kinda liked the way it framed Jericho as a heel in a way (which maybe that’s the end game) and will give Kingston a break-out match and moment. Battle Royal was good too with Silver getting good time and pushing the RedDragon/Bucks tension. Good promo by Page too.
One thing that did raise my eyebrow was putting Bunny and Jade in a heel vs heel match but it was alright.

True. I do trust that they have some direction in mind.
I'm wondering how ND feels about 2.0 stepping up and putting the boots to Danielson (mighty harsh words included). It could lead to nothing, but for just one night, 2.0 implied that they have never even heard of vanilla.

Kind of crazy because I thought it was one of the best ones in a while and ratings seem to agree.
AEW Dynamite last night on TBS:
1,010,000 viewers
P18-49: 0.40 (517,000)
Up 16% total and up 27% in the demo from last week's low rating.

He dropped truth but in a way to get fans to (rightfully feel for him) but also in a way he over-poured it in a way he could pull the rug out from Punk to throw him off his game and pull the rug out from under him. Punk’s reaction (let’s not forget his part here) also sold it and gave doubts as to how this match really will go down.
“Worked shoot” really played well by all parties involved here and makes me look even more excited for the match.

The absence of MJF's cronies may be a clue to how this develops. Suppose next week there's more heart-to-heart but at the PPV Wardlow and company return at the last moment just when Punk thought they were out of the picture.

Bryan Danielson on social media
“I have a twitter and here’s a dirty secret which is that I don’t run my social media. While there are times where I will post something on social media but it is very few and far between and most of the time it’s my manager who does it and I don’t know if he wants me to say that but like he’ll post something. It’s just like, one of those things, I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to get caught up… but yeah I mean I think its interesting. You could use social media, social media is just a tool, right? But you have to use it and not let it use you and I think wrestlers can and should, if they want to, use it as a tool”

They're few and far between and the ones that are good are even less frequent. Sometimes you'll hear a concept and just be like....how the fuck did TUSK get released?
I'm also fascinated by how many movies from 50-60 years ago weren't originals. You find out there were 2-3 different versions, some made in other countries that get remade here or a bigger budget allows a better version.

Bucks probably would've thrived in NXT and won over the higher ups on Raw/SD to warrant a decent push. They would just need the support of Shawn and Trips. Especially Shawn. Look at Austin Theory. That was a guy who 2 years ago I believe Shawn said had the most potential out of anyone in NXT that was coming up new. Look at him now.
Kenny Omega....I think in smaller companies like AEW, New Japan, etc. he can get away with being a top guy because those are WRESTLING promotions. But he showed that he can't really be a sports entertainer that he would need to be but again, you never know how he might thrive. He might not have been working with Roman Reigns at Mania but I think he would wind up in a solid position in the mid-uppercard of Raw/SD.

The ROH acquisition doesn’t make a ton of sense if AEW is looking to outright create more weekly content on a regular basis. There is some value in making it a developmental setup for them in some ways. Not sure how that works from a content perspective and much Sinclair wants to be involved with that, if they want to. There’s merit to using the brand but there’s more that has to be figured out to make that work. Now the library, that makes tons of a sense for AEW to acquire. In order to monetize themselves and build a cushion before the TV contract renews, you can license a library to a company that’s okay taking a chance on them. That company buying the streaming rights is probably taking a loss but that’s the cost of doing business if you’re going to try to get in on the ground floor. Seems like an extremely natural fit for that to be HBOMax.
From a crazy standpoint, Tony and Cody may not have figured out how to make it work in AEW, but Cody could embrace the Triple H role more and nurture and develop ROH and be able to do so with his vision.

It’ll be interesting to see if the ROH guys get their own show under the AEW umbrella or if they’ll just be entirely absorbed and just appear on AEW’s existing shows. I did giggle a bit at the “No Shane” comment though.
Speaking of burns, love the Acclaimed raps more and more with the Glen Jacobs tweets burn. I’d love to see them get the belts one day (they are technically still ranked number 1 I think) but probably not gonna happen any time soon. Just too many tag teams higher in the pecking order which isn’t a bad thing per se. Healthy competition which will be extra lit when Fenix comes back.
Page/Cole is somewhat cold I think but I think that’s because there’s higher priority stuff like Mox/Danielson and Punk/MJF. The match itself should still be good. Page has been having killer matches but the other feuds have just had more attention. When Page gets some real competition (well Danielson was real competition tbf there), his reign should heat up more.
Speaking of Punk/MJF, you could see the turn coming a mile away but that doesn’t make it any less great though. Tremendous stuff. MJF should go over but Wardlow won’t have a part in it. When he wins that ladder match and probably the title afterwards but refuses to MJF, that’ll likely be when he explodes. Some development though in not helping in the beatdown and shutting down Spears. Slowly but surely…

Probably because they wouldn't keep it active and would just use the tape library for the Network and other projects, maybe. They could've also seen the lack of real need to have that library. Why would they? They can just use pictures from Apter or PWI like they normally do. Sure it'd be cool to have a Kevin Owens documentary where they'd throw in some ROH matches but it's not the end of the world. Especially when you think about how few and far between those type of releases are these days.

i've been kinda let down my AEW in recent weeks but man that was a great episode.
triple threat opener was awesome, probably my second favorite match of the year behind danielson/page. i tend to dislike tower of doom spots but that one was a beauty. lee vs. JD drake was a super fun big guy match. the main event was a very 'christian' style match which is a kind of match i really enjoy, just really smartly worked and laid out. all the segments and promos were good. and that ending with the bucks and reddragon grabbing the tag titles, staring each other down over them, luchasaurus grabbing them back and then jungle boy hitting the dive was just awesome pro wrestling choreography.
the show really made me more excited for the PPV. actually it did such a good job of building everything it featured that the actual main event feels even LESS important on the show.

I can agree the title matches are some of the least interesting as far as the build/hype. Mox/Danielson, Kingston/Jericho, and Punk/MJF all feel like main event level feuds whereas Jade/Conti was thrown together like, what, a couple weeks ago?
Hangman/Cole and especially Baker/Rosa feel cold, but I expect them to deliver the goods in the ring. I got my fingers crossed for Hangman to beat Cole and then get jumped by a newly contracted, non-EVP Cody who comes to crush his dreams at the next Dynamite supercard. I'm also into the competitors and the match potential of the Tag Title match, but I'm honestly tired of the inner tension schtick with The Elite. Just pick what side you're on and can we just be melodramatic with other people please? Sadly, this probably ends with one costing the other for Jurassic Express to get the win and set up a Young Bucks/reDRagon match, and I just pray they get it over with quick and we can move on to something else.
This is a strong card all around, though, and I have hope most of it will deliver. As long as it's not another All Out 2020

honestly if i ranked these matches by how much i'm looking forward to them, the four title matches would be the bottom four.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
I'm struggling to give much of a shit about Adam vs. Adam. It's the least interesting AEW title match in a good while and coming right after Page's classics with Danielson and Archer it stands out even more. I think Page needs a big challenger next... but I'm not sure who.
Thunder Rosa is probably still Britt's highest profile challenger and I've got a fair bit of interest in this rematch but it still feels a bit like we're killing time until a challenger worthy of taking the belt off her shows up in AEW.
I have my reservations about the tag title 3-way, mainly for the reason Tainted gave. I'd be more interested if FTR were involved. I think generally I'm more interested in all three of these teams if FTR are involved.
I wouldn't expect a lot out of Cargill vs. Conti. The potential is there in both though.
The rest of the card is top notch. MJF/Punk has entered all time great wrestling feud territory in recent weeks and I can't wait for this match. Punk being at this level seemed a way off just a couple of months ago. What a feud this has been for him. And it may very well prove to be the making of MJF.
If that wasn't enough, we've got two more really hot non-title singles feuds in Danielson/Mox and Jericho/Kingston. Plenty of good promo work leading up to these. It's obviously been great to see Mox back looking rejuvenated and motivated but credit to Jericho too. He's looking in much better shape lately as well. I'm guessing Jericho wins here... but hopefully with a view to Eddie going over down the line.
I thought the sixth man in the FOTR ladder match would be a surprise but I guess that was never stated. Christian's a nice inclusion. He's felt like a bit more of a special attraction lately. Hard to choose between Lee and Wardlow here. I guess it should be Lee. Although the idea that you have to win this 6-man ladder match just to get a shot at the TNT title is a bit silly since you can usually just ask for one.
Tornado trios TNT title SKIRMISH. I'd like to see Andrade win the TNT title sooner rather than later and have a good run with the belt. Not sure how likely that is. Time for Jeff Hardy? Perhaps. Sting's AEW matches have been great because they know how to work with his limitations. Hopefully this will be much the same.
I'm sure they were hoping that Fenix would be back in time for the PPV so they could do a Death Triangle/House of Black 6-man. Big Erick's involved instead though. Sure, why not? This should be fun.
Hirsch vs. Stadtlander is interesting purely because Stadtlander was such a fucking nasty bitch to Hirsch about her parents abandoning her. I'll be hoping Hirsch wipes the floor with her.
Hopefully Hook demolishes QT here and moves on to bigger fish. His whole presentation is so on point that you genuinely get excited for his squashes. Goldberg style.

I've been saying that it's a work to get Cody able to challenge for the belt and go full heel for a minute. Regardless of the rumors, that just makes the most sense to me when you add it all up. That's the sort of thing AEW loves to play on, and while I think some talks with WWE might have happened, I wouldn't put it past them to get the dirtsheets in on it/feed false information to really sell it. Not to mention that would inject so much damn life into the World Title.

When Cody returns, will he be able to challenge for the world title? That previous stipulation, was it a part of his old contalract?
Psycho666Soldier
March 6th, 2022, 4:20 PM
No, but the core of his reason for not challenging for the AEW World Title if he lost was because he was an EVP and he saw it as a conflict of interest and wanted to build trust with fans. So a new contract as just a performer is the perfect loophole for him to bend around.

Killer show last night. I think it definitely peaked with Punk/MJF and never really caught the same wave of hype since, but they still managed to turn this out for a hot finish.
The pre-show was more fun than I anticipated, and and the first five matches excluding Jade/Conti were perfect for what they were and how to get everything across. Kingston/Jericho feels like a MOTY candidate, the ladder match was really unique and capitalized on the strengths of each wrestler, Tag Title match reigned in the stupid shit and made Jungle Boy look like a star, and Punk/MJF was an intense war, pre-match and everything. I marked the hell out for Miseria Canterae. Like I said, there were some moments it dragged a bit, and the moment where the chain got caught on the rope was kind of awkward, but it was such a perfect end to the feud(assuming it doesn't continue) and the crowd ate it all up.
Between not being hot, starting kind of rough, and having to follow Punk/MJF, Baker/Rosa was mostly weak. Nothing really caught on and the crowd was dead for most of it. But there was a point in the last few minutes where the switch was flipped and the crowd was getting into it. The finish was a bit overbooked, but I think this was a good way to turn a cold match into a feud starter, hopefully making for a more intense match and title change in a couple weeks.
Mox/Danielson fell a bit short of expectations for me. I liked the finish and felt there were some really good moments in between, but maybe this would have been better as more of a violent sprint and cutting out like 5-7 minutes? I dunno, could be the momentum sort of fizzled at this point, and I was definitely getting tired. It was a really good match that feels like it should have been better. The post-match moment with Regal was fucking epic, though. One of the moments of the night, and regardless of where this leads for Bryan and Mox, I thought that was a great way to make a strong moment from the feud, so it made the match a little better in retrospect.
Sting should not be doing the things he does, and I'm not not going to cheer it, but my dude needs to calm down lol. This match was sloppy and it's unfortunate Darby missed the Coffin Drop, but I loved it. It was wild, it was unexpected, chaotic with the pedal on the floor before the bell even rang. Darby really came out hot and I think it helped rejuvenate his stock a bit. Sting manages to do just enough and even more, and Sammy is fucking crazy, too. I feel like he didn't get to do a lot in this match, but that Spanish Fly was one of the best spots of the night. Matt was pretty meh tonight, but Andrade and especially Kassidy looked really good. Kassidy and Private Party in general seem like the perfect guys that always fulfill their role the most and while it might be a minute, I feel it'll get recognized in time and they'll get their chance to shine.
The main event was a mixed bag. I know not everyone is into the Adam Cole Takeover main event style, and this match was pretty much that. It's hit or miss for me, and I think there were some cool moments in this match, and ultimately it was a strong look for Hangman. Admittedly, I started falling asleep towards the end because I was high af and my body was ready for sleep, but whenever I woke up, the shit got me feeling hyped. Sort of cold feud, but I think it's still a worthwhile defense Page can hang his hat on. Next feud's gotta be hot, though, and I think it might be good to shake things up with some kind of heel beating him at this point, but as long as his next feud is something hot, I'm along for the ride.
So yeah, still an awesome show, all the best in-ring shit just so happened to be frontloaded. I think maybe put Mox/Danielson earlier and finish with Punk/MJF and this maybe could have been better, but perhaps a drained crowd for Punk/MJF would have affected that match, too.
EDIT: For the record, I liked Jade/Conti for what it was. It was an impromptu feud that had the shortest match time with a strong presentation for the young undefeated star they're building. Didn't set the world on fire, but was a solid notch in Jade's belt before she starts getting some more intense challengers. Also the Jade costume was

8/10. MJF/Punk, Moxley/Danielson with Regal showing up, and Sting's dive through the tables were great. The rest of the card was good. Some predictable moments that were GOOD predictable moments like Wardlow winning, the women's matches, but overall a good card.
The only negative was that the main event was a dud. Good match, but I was spent from MJF/Punk and Mox/Bryan I didn't really give a shit after that.

Some really good stuff and great to see Regal plus Wardlow sticking it to MJF. The Swerve contract signing could’ve easily been done on Dynamite instead or just an announcement online.
If these PPVs were 3 hours as opposed to 4 (that’s not including the pre-show) I’d be more willing to watch these live as opposed to the next day. Just too draining to take in live plus UK time zone. Although the thing about that is there roster is so big I can’t see the PPV time being cut.

I disagree. They were cleaning up the ring anyway so they had to fill time somehow. The crowd organically chanting for Swerve and saying who's house before he even started saying it was great too. Tony needs to hold the clipboard better though and not show the side saying Swerve at the bottom.

TK at the post media scrum really made it sound like ROH will be AEW developmental, said he will be the booker for ROH. Punk was nearly crying talking about how much Tony instead of Vince having ROH meant to him and doing the entrance with the gear and stuff at the ppv. Punk said Max is a savant and loves classic wrestling. Also, Ace Steel is a trainer there now. TK said Sonjay Dutt is also helping train Jade.

It certainly wasn’t a bad segment by any means and the crowd chants were nice but just a suggestion of ways they could cut down on PPV time a bit. They probably just need to work on their pacing and layout a bit either way. Could’ve put the title match on earlier while the crowd are still engaged and have put either Punk/MJF or Mox/Danielson last so there’s not such a break cleaning up blood in between

CM Punk and ROH have something in common, WWE realized they aren't worth the price tag and did a hard pass. Who the fuck wants to pay $40 million for the ROH library??? Vince paid like $7 million for WCW and that even included some of the talent lol. Tony gets a bunch of footage that he'll just wind up selling anyway. Not really. I actually forgot he used to come out to that corny shit at one point.
The problem I have sometimes with AEW is that they don't really have their own identity yet. Everything is a fuckin nod to some other shit. It's like going to see a new rock band that just came out and every song has a verse, chorus, or bridge that's from another band people know. Before Jericho showed up on Austin's show, and this is just the Network that I'm speaking on, they had mentioned ROH, TNA, Impact, New Japan, All Japan, I'm probably leaving out some others.
And he went on record saying what bothered him was that he wasn't Brock Lesnar and when he tried to step up everyone laughed and they made his match 2nd at the upcoming Mania.
What you need to do and hopefully this trickles down to other AEW nutfans like yourself is to stop thinking everything related to AEW is the best thing ever. Thank God Chris Benoit wasn't in AEW when he killed his family. I can only imagine the lengths you would go to defending AEW if Owen Hart died on their watch. Just weird man.

AEW has a great track record though. Quality is in their name and they're generally a crowd-pleasing promotion who keep the booking from getting too obvious. What feds throughout history have had as promising 2 year runs?
Also, I always have and still do think Jericho is the one guy who should have Brock's number. He's got a stocky, wide base that lends itself to heavyweight realms, but he's light on his feet and quick enough in his steps. That, and he's known to be a legit tough guy and a hard hitter when he wants to be. Jericho vs Brock could have changed everything especially if Jericho was totally willing to put himself over as he should have.

Another great AEW PPV... but it did burn me out. Fair play, they want to give fans their money's worth. And there is only four shows of this length per year. Problem is that there's really very little down time - and I did kind of tune out for the two women's championship matches. Saw someone point out: this show had 161 minutes of wrestling on the main card, plus another 32 on the buy-in. That's... A LOT. Take, in comparison, a show like Wrestlemania III which has 83 minutes of wrestling total.
Anyway, if I were to go back and dip into this show there is loads of stuff that would be worth watching again.
- Hirsch and Stadtlander really went for it. Some awkward moments but probably the best women's match on the show as it turned out. That apron hurricanrana was nasty. Hirsch had to win this after Stadtlander's awful comments.
- Hook's longest match to date but once again he killed it. I wonder if they're in a bit of a difficult position now. Fans want to see Hook continue to bulldoze through his opponents but he'll need to work longer matches in order to improve. QT played his part well.
- House Of Black vs. Death Triangle & Redbeard. Really good. This Penta/Black feud has been going on a while but with the addition of Buddy and Redbeard it felt pretty fresh. Redbeard put in a great performance and I loved his exchanges with Brody King. Possibly a bit excessive for a pre-show match. Solid win for the House of Black.
- Nice Omega tease. Good heat directed at Callis and a reminder that Omega will be due back soon. Possibly as a babyface this time.
- Loved everything about Jericho/Kingston. The entrances, the match itself and the aftermath. Clear All Japan influence. Jericho's best in-ring performance in years which isn't surprising given the shape he's gotten into. Hitting that top rope frankensteiner was something else. Big win for Eddie who is over HUGE right now... but he's still yet to win Jericho's respect, so looks like this will continue.
- Triple threat tag was nuts and thankfully Jungle Boy was the star of the show. I feared that the champions might be forced to take a back seat to the Bucks/RD drama but that really wasn't the case. Great win for Jurassic Express who are having a successful title reign.
- Fun ladder match with a bunch of memorable spots. Some a bit contrived, some really inventive. Everyone had their moments but I was particularly impressed with Hobbs. Big moment for Wardlow. Very intrigued by his upcoming push. Will he dethrone Sammy? Will he beat MJF? Feels like the sky is the limit for him right now.
- Hot debut for Swerve. He was presented like a star and the crowd gave him a star's welcome.
- TBS title match was a chance to breathe. Cool special entrance for Cargill. They kept showing Page vanZant alongside Lambert and the MOTY so I wonder if they're planning Cargill/vanZant. This match was actually alright.
- What can you say about Punk's entrance? Incredible moment. The match is itself was sufficiently brutal. Good use of the chain, thumb tacks, lots of blood and a hot finish. Maybe not quite at the level I was hoping but my expectations were extremely high. Loved the finish with Wardlow playing his role well and getting the big pop when he left the ring on the canvas. It's 1-1 now and I would imagine they'll do a rubber match at some point but perhaps further down the road.
- Found it hard to pay attention to Baker/Rosa I must admit. Glad Thunder Rosa didn't get the win here. It wouldn't have felt right for Baker's reign to end at this time. You'd think they'll have another gimmick match now.
- Danielson/Mox was very good and they had to work to get the crowd involved again. As promised, they gave us violence. Post-match with Regal making his debut was fantastic. What a well built handshake.
- Tornado trios match was bonkers. Reminiscent of the Jurassic Express/Superkiq 6-man from Full Gear. Everyone's understandably talking about Sting doing balcony dives at 62 but how crazy was Guevara's spanish fly on Kassidy? Just insane. With the way the match played out I became even more convinced that Jeff Hardy would make his debut here but maybe that's coming this week.
- I was knackered by the main event. Ended up being a pretty good match but I just wasn't all that invested. Must be said that the crowd seemed to enjoy it though.
9/10 probably.
Hard to pick a MOTN. I'd probably go with Kingston/Jericho or Danielson/Moxley. But it could also be Punk/MJF for the whole presentation.
Another note: JR was really annoying throughout. Generally I think he's been better recently but not on this show. At times his comments hurt the effectiveness of a moment. The pre-show was just Excalibur and Tony it's significantly smoother when it's just the two of them.

I think MJF costs him the TNT title match or maybe Spears does at MJFs request which is kind of annoying because I'm over Sammy's reign and having 2 belts. The point of unifying belts is to only have 1.
St Patrick's Day Slam is in Rosa's hometown and it will be a year since their lights out match so she wins there, most likely in a cage match so there's no interference.

Jericho's known for 2 fights: A nothing struggle with Goldberg and punching some female fan that was getting in his space. Outside of that he just screams Napoleon Complex. Like how much of a fucking mark are you with his tenure in the business to think Lesnar v. Orton at Summerslam was a shoot. All because nobody told Jericho that it was going to be stiff elbows lol.
As far as AEW's 2 year comment...Honestly that's a tough one to answer because there hasn't been any companies to compare it to. And what are we comparing? I mean, does anyone know what kind of tv ratings the WWWF were getting back in the 60's? Are we talking attendance? Are we talking just straight up quality because then who are we comparing those first 2 years with? NWA? USWA? ECW?

They could go with Spears try to cost Wardlow the match at MJF's direction but ultimately fails. I don't see Wardlow's first feud being MJF though so maybe it's more of a "Spears making an executive decision" kind of thing.

I honestly figured Jungle Boy would just avoid talking after his first couple promos, but I think there's been a legit change in delivery. Like his voice is still dorky but he speaks with conviction now and doesn't slip over his words. Pre-recorded or not, it's a good improvement over a year ago and I think it's awesome that he's working on it with success rather than just stagnating or avoiding it.
But that's a mouthful, so if I'm a bit hyperbolic in my shorter posts, that doesn't mean the opinion is invalid or not correct. It just doesn't match yours, and that's fine. But half the time you equate a difference of opinion to some kind of weakness or flaw instead of just seeing it as a different perspective.

You can’t announce that your top champion is going to wrestle in the lead up of the day? Come on, man.
Good first showing for the Violent Fathers, and Regal had Danielson on the verge of tears the whole time.
I do love that Jeff had to get his gyrating in on the ramp before saving his brother haha.
Wardlow sold the moment so well at Revolution when he realized he misplaced the ring, and he sold the confusion well when he came out of the face tunnel tonight. Mustafa Ali had to feel triggered when Wardlow said to “release me from this BS contract.” Good segment for the big guy.
Great near fall for The Acclaimed in that tag title match. Listen.
It felt inevitable that Guevara was losing when the chyron said he could set a record for defenses with this match lol. He’s been through the ringer with tables the last few days. Certainly opens the door for Wardlow to win but I imagine MJF spoils that and ATT gets a chance to build some heat.

I enjoyed last night. I am so excited that Regal is over in AEW and managing Mox and Danielson. Loved the promo.
I could have done without the Rosa/Hirsch match. If they wanted to get back to Rosa and Baker for next week just fucking give her the match in the cage due to the outside interference. No need in once again letting Hirsch wrestle on Dynamite since she is in the top 5 only to lose. Plus that match was just awkward. No chemistry there between those two.
Laughing at Jeff dancing on his way to the ring.
I really enjoyed the opening segment. Actually had me going for a minute that Jericho wasn't going to make the turn and break up the Inner Circle. Didn't see 2.0 and Garcia being part of his new group though.
Not sure where they are going with FTR. Want to see them back in the hunt again.
Not sure if I want to revisit the whole Page/Dark Order relationship again though.
I was bit surprised to see Sky win because I figured Wardlow would win next week and the whole contract would come into play with MJF not releasing him and demanding the title. Guess Spears costs him the match or something next week because I expect Sky doesn't get stuck with a one week reign. We shall see.
