2018 Rajah Forums NFL Pick ‘Em Challenge

Now that the NFL season is less than a month away from starting, does anybody have any interest in doing this again this season?

To make things a little more difficult we can A) set it up so we choose the winners based on the spread or B) add a “confidence” value to each pick based on how confident you are in that selection. The more confident you are, the more points you score. Or we can keep it simple and make it straight picks. What does everybody think?

Also, any interest in doing the Eliminator Challenge again?

I remember struggling with it a bit yesterday. Just kinda fucked around until I figured it out. I def remember thinking they should make this more intuitive though (or that I am just dumb).

Strange. There should be a button on the right hand side that says join group and a place to put the password. I’ll take another look at it either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I couldn't figure it out on my phone but was able to do it on a computer. You just have to search for the league name, click on it when it comes up, and then click join group. There should be a blue button.

yea idk why the Join Group button wouldnt show up. there is an option to "invite friends", maybe just get his email and invite him that way? although I think that just provides the following link to join:

I still don't understand the way the eliminator game works on ESPN. we all know what a survival pool is. and they call it ELIMINATOR which to me tells me they are going for the survivor game. and yet, when you get a game wrong, they don't ELIMINATE you. you can keep picking. so when I look at our 2017 group, beefy shows up as 2nd because he kept making picks even though he was out week 1.I guess they just mean ELIMINATOR because when you pick a team, that team gets eliminated from your pool of teams to pick from.

this frustrates me. I like a real survivor pool and that's sort of how I treat this even though ESPN wants you to keep coming back to make picks for the whole season even if you are wrong every week. but nah, I'm out!

Right. I did one last year thinking it was survivor so I was like "Wait... it's like survivor but not?" I already made all 17 picks anyway.

That's a pretty great premise. Do the opposite of my strategy, and only pick the BIlls.

Oh man, I can see that being just as tough at the end of the season when it comes to trying to figure out if teams will rest their starters or not. Do you save the Browns and Bills until then? Do you risk using the worst teams early? It's intriguing and probably not as easy as it sounds.

My manager at my old job did a loser challenge. Where every week you have to pick a team to lose , and once you pick a team, you cannot pick that team again (and you truly got eliminated after a wrong selection). Was a lot of fun.
