The Rules

- Each team consists of 4 players which will be chosen in the normal snake draft method. For each Matchweek each manager select 3 of his players to start with one reserve. Autosubs will be in force.
- There will be 8 groups of 4 teams. Each group will consist of 1/2 RFF teams and the remaining places will be made of the 16/24 teams ranked lowest in the FIFA world rankings. This is done to try and ensure as many RFF teams get into the knockout stages as possible.
- The order of the draft will be decided by a random draw, that I will do my best to record and stick in this thread.
- Any player is available for selection as long as they are in the squads for the World Cup.
- There will be 3 match weeks in the group stages where each team will play each other once. 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Once all games are played the two teams with the most points will progress into the knockout stages. If teams are equal on points the process of who goes through is based in this order: Goals Scored, Goal Difference, Quickest Goal.
- Each knockout stage will be considered a matchweek totaling 7 matchweeks.
- In the knockout stages two clubs will face each other in the ways detailed below. Once the quarter final stage is reached a supplemental draft will be implemented in order for teams to be replenished with players that are in the actual World Cup quarter finals.
- In lieu of a penalty shoot out, in the eventuality of a drawn knockout game the 'late goal rule' will be implement. This means whoever scored a goal in the latest minute of their game goes through. If this by some chance is equal then the 'sausage sandwich game' will come into effect to determine a winner.

Not all of the above information is accurate at the moment (dates etc) but I'll edit it through today. Ideally we want 16 people signing up but I think we might struggle a bit for that so if we only get 8 or 12 we'll make do.

Sack off the fifth player lads and let's have a managerial showdown. Not who gets lucky with which 5th draft punt gets a tap-in.

BBF justified it with everyone having to drop their 5th player in the knockouts but they'll have to drop them anyway because all the players will be on a plane home.

Alex
June 10th, 2018, 6:12 AM
The available pool should be bigger to encourage transfers. The winner should be the person who navigates their squad best and manages the balance between draft/transfers best.

We went into this with 4 player squads in mind and then knew the likes of Mane, Hernandez, Mitro etc. would be available if you needed to make a signing for a particular gameweek.

There's no reason to have those players stockpiled on benches.

UK Blue
June 10th, 2018, 6:36 AM
The number of players on benches will be the same regardless (one on each bench).

In terms of the available pool, the provision was originally for a max of 16 teams of four players (64). We now have ten teams of five players (50). So the available pool will be larger than what was proposed at the outset.

We all should be able to qualify from the groups anyway but the extra starter acts as a bit of insurance. Then none of it will matter after the group stage as half the teams will be eliminated, the squads revert back to four players, we get more head-to-head matches and the performance of the top draft picks becomes key.

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one Mané.
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times,
Doin' things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him,
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him oh be proud of him,
'Cause after all he's just a Mané
Stand by your Mané,
Give him two arms to cling to,
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your Mané,
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your Mané
Stand by your Mané,
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your Mané

When your three man team is knocked out at the group stage while your fourth player is banging them in from the bench you'll know the reason.

I'm not sure why Rosk should be against it. Would you rather Coutinho's goals in the group stage counted or not? All it does is make everybody more likely to qualify for the knockout stage. Am I going mad here?

Canuck
June 10th, 2018, 8:31 AM
If we were going to do 5 players, we really should have announced that prior to starting the 4th round.

The Rosk

Kinda assumed we wouldn't "replenish" until the second draft after the 3rd stage started but whatever lads

You bloody need it to be fair

I'm going to replace Salah with someone from whoever got eliminated and I assume I'll have the first pick because I'm the fucking best

I'm last on the draft. You're all going to hoover up the good ones before me and frankly, the fact that Griezmann didn't pass to Giroud and Deschamps is shit is forcing my hand.

Yep anyone can be dropped in the draft before the quarter finals.

I haven't decided how to do the draft order yet the. My initial thought is start the snake draft again but in reverse? So whoever picked last in the main draft would be first here and so on

I'm not drafting anyone. I will win or die with the four I have now.
