Hi all, new to the rajah boards. I bought my daughter a Nintendo Switch for Xmas. She is 7 yrs old. So far I have only purchased Super Mario Odyssey. My question is, which games would be good for a younger child? I don't really know much about the Switch. I know Minecraft is available but only in the online shop? No physical copy available?

Hi! Welcome to the forums!

Splatoon 2 is a pretty great game for younger players, (it's a first person shooter, where you shoot paint to make things your color in order to win.)

I'd also definitely recommend Yooka-Laylee (all ages platformer) and Lego City Undercover.

I have seen gameplay from the newest Mario Kart and it looks incredible, they fixed battle mode too I believe so that may be worth a try!

Terraria's another good sandbox style game similar to Minecraft. I guess Pokken Tournament could be considered a kids game too. And Puyo Puyo Tetris, if you want a puzzle game.

Hey welcome!

There's always the story mode Minecraft in physical form, although it's less "create anything" and more of a linear story/narrative.

At that age, you find something like Snipperclips a fun game for her age. It's a puzzle game that we found fun.

Or maybe something like Snake Pass, another puzzle game but good strong vibrant colours.

Not sure if 7 is too young for Mario Kart 8? That's surely fun at all ages.

You can get Lego City Undercover on the Switch too.

Or Lego Worlds for a sandbox type experience.

Is she a big fan of Cartoon Network? There's a beat em up type game available.

And finally, obviously, there's Doom. ;)

Hope that helps!
