O.J has his parole hearing today, probably sometime around 1 PM. It's being carried live on at least ESPN, and probably a host of other network and countless internet streaming sites.

"Experts" are saying he has a very good chance of getting paroled. Sports Illustrated (https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/02/14/oj-simpson-parole-jail-sentence-robbery) had a great article earlier in the year outlining his chances. NV gives their inmates a score based on how likely they are to re-offend. Juice has a lower score because of his age of first arrest, non-history of drug use, and his current age.

Personally, I think he's going to be let out but I'm not basing that on any legal training. Just a gut feeling.

I can't think of anything OJ related without thinking of CTE. I think it is almost certain that we will find his brain is broken from football. Will make the 40 years of post-football more complicated.

I said that to my wife while we were watching the FX show last year about OJ. Given what we know now about CTE, I think it's almost a certainty he suffers from it, and has suffered from it for a long, long time.

It makes so much sense and explains so much, that I can't not think it is true. I remember when I first heard someone come up with that theory (Malcolm Gladwell is the first I heard it from), everything seemed to click about his post-career actions (especially the Vegas part). We all get crimes of passion and having a woman drive you crazy. But who thinks it is good idea to rob someone inside a Vegas casino?

One of the famous crazy stories (I think is true but could be hearsay) about OJ is that his head was so big, they actually had to remove the padding from his helmet just to get it to fit.

Quit calling him "the Juice", retards. Would you be calling this cretin a fun nickname if he'd decapitated someone you care about?

So calling somebody found not guilty of murder a "fun nickname" isn't acceptable, but using the word "retard" in a pejorative way is? Got it.

That verdict was an insult to justice itself, I wouldn't be quick to reference it in any type of defence.

He is totally guilty but the prosecution did a horrible job at proving it. It is their job to make the case. They did not do that.

Man the only reason that dude was found not guilty is because everyone was worried about another LA Riots type situation. There were videos or still are videos online of where you see a crowd of black people react to the verdict and a crowd of white people and it was night and day. Black people going fucking bonkers and white people just going , well, could be worse.....Shocked it didn't turn into one of those situations where a riot breaks out in response to something positive like when a hockey team wins the Stanley.

Nobody can deny that the OJ trial was on many a television. One of my owners "jokes" that he spent his entire summer in the office with his feet up watching the trial. I remember watching it when I was younger, it was more entertaining than any show on t.v.

Crazy. The guy is a double murderer and an armed robber and has served 9 years in jail. Madness.

It helped that one of the robbery victims testified on his behalf.

And blame the prosecution for him being found not guilty of murder. They put up a stinker of a case.

Can't believe the hearing was televised. What the fuck is wrong with American people?

The original conviction of 33 years was a bit on the harsh side considering he never brandished a weapon and the items stolen were later ruled by a Court to be his but from what I've read he was a real shitty person (not even touching the double murder) at that point and if it wasn't this robbery in Vegas that got him jailed it would have been something else. It'll be interesting to see if he retires from public life or tries to stage some late-life public image rehabilitation.

In light of our OJ CTE discussion,

http://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2645104

Risk of CTE was higher with more years of football playing and with playing at a higher level. 110 of 111 – that's 99% - of former NFL players had CTE.

the cops, prosecution, good defense, and jury all had to do with it

perfect storm

as for the victim testifying, I heard people say it has to do with the victim having monetary interest in OJ being out
