This should have been rubbish, and its one of the freshest, most awesome games in years. You run around at 100 mph shooting demons who you have to get close to if you want to recover health. Something totally different to the last decade of military shooters. Speed, strategy and the best first person jumping perhaps ever. This is exciting.

So I've been on the fence about this since it came out, I suppose this is worth picking up? Was a huge fan of the original Doom during my childhood.

It captures the spirit of old Doom, the speed and pace of taking down a room, and modernises it really well. I've been talking to a friend about it and every time you get a new weapon or something, we ended up talking about how it changes how you approach the fights. At the very least it plays like nothing else modern. You're weaving, not going for cover

As someone who doesn't really like FPS's, this game floored me more than most modern games and will be one of the primary reasons I get a PS4. From just playing the first four stages, this game is pure, unadulterated fun, and feels like old school DOOM with the right tweaks and upgrades.

I love that the game encourages you to stay on the move. If you try to hide, especially in one spot, you will die.

What struck me most from the game play videos I saw was the resemblance to older FPS games. The constant movement is how I enjoyed shooters, not cover shooters, so I'll probably pick this up at some point.

Finished the single player mode over the weekend and had a go of the multiplayer.

I'd take Story Modes like this and Wolfenstein over COD any day of the week. If you want story lore, read the logs you collect, otherwise shoot shoot jump jump shoot shoot to your heart's content.

I love the risk/reward system of melee deaths for health/chainsaw deaths for ammo as well.

Just played a couple more stages last night, everything up to the Hell stage. I love how quickly the difficulty ramps up. It keeps you on your toes. The exploration and challenges are so satisfying.

Finally got around to playing this. I've never been a huge DOOM person, but this was easily the most enjoyable FPS gameplay I've played not involving Portal devices.

The lack of reloading and focus on speed over cover was incredibly refreshing and the sequel to this instantly became my most anticipated game.

Visually this is still my favourite game of the last few years. Can't wait for the new one.

The gameplay with glory kills and healing via killing is just fantastic. Not to mention stumbling into classic maps. First one I wandered into, not knowing they were a thing, was sex.
