Does anyone have this off of Steam?
I downloaded it last week because I loved it and because I wanted to relive my glory days of RTS games and this one in particular.
God almighty do I fucking suck now.
I used to rock this back in the day and now I'm staring at shit like, "How did that guy get to the Castle Age already when I just got to Feudal like 8 minutes ago? WHERE DID ALL THESE KNIGHTS COME FROM??? FUCKKKKK."
My rank is crashing, team mates message me during games, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THESE VILLAGERS HERE?" and I'm like, "Oh, don't worry, they're totally building this that and the other thing at this very second! What a coincidence you should ask me!"
I was a Mongol rush player in my golden years, but there are all these new civilizations I've wanted to try out and I just stick it on random to see if I like a different style now, but every civ results in my embarrassing demise. I can't for the life of me keep up my economy like I used to.
I feel like a baseball player who can't hit a curve anymore.
Anyway, if anyone here plays, let's play together!

WHAT!?
Is this new on Steam, I've been after this game for ages. How much??
I've been addicted to Civ 5 for months so this will do just nicely.
Absolutely loved it when I was younger, I'd be up for playing an online game or two.

Yeah I think it's like $15 or $19 bucks, includes AOE and Conquerors and randomly gives you civs from two new expansions that apparently came out only online, Forgotten and African, which you can also buy in full.
There are tweaks to civ bonuses to balance things (ie: Mongols only have a bonus vs rams instead of all siege weapons or something).
New civilizations include the Slavs, Incans, Ethiopians, Mali, Magyars and some other ones.
It's been around a couple of years and I just stumbled upon it and keep stumbling around like an idiot trying to get back into the swing of things.
So many good players online and I'm like, "I swearrrrrr I was great at this 12 years ago!" but they don't give a shit.

Just a heads up, the only way to play on a Mac is to download some other thing to run it. My friend was excited to play again and couldn't be bothered with this simple task so he's playing some survival game with dinosaurs instead.

Yeah I'd be playing it on my MacBook Air, so what's the other thing?
The only annoying thing about this is playing without a standard mouse, using the trackpad can make it slightly more difficult.

Havent played this in years since the original came out. Been playing Age of Mythology recently though, which is basically the more modern 3D version of the game. Has anyone here tried it?

It's called PlayOnMac, it lets you play Windows games.
Can't you just get a mouse? I picked one up for like $10.
The dumb lack of a right click has to be annoying for playing this.

I tried it many moons ago but always come back to AOE2.
I never got into Age 3 because my computer at the time couldn't run it. I should give it another shot.

This is awesome. I never got the chance to get too deep into these games, but I still loved Age of Empires. I might just pick it up and join in with you some time.

Man I loved AoE II. After Warcraft III, it's probably my favourite RTS, a dying genre by the way. I'm not too in the know but apparently developers are wary of making RTS' these days because it's much more difficult to economically capitalize on DLC than other genres and obviously other platforms like the PS4 and Xbox One.

I never played 3. Me and my friends do an annual game of 3 with Brits vs US for the 4th of July and used to do a lot more. I'm a tech BEAST but kinda crap at the war half. It's not unusual for me to be 2 ages ahead of my opponents. I can honestly tell you how many horsemen it takes to stop a tank. All of them.
It is a dying genre isn't it?

AOE2 is my favorite game of all time. I will still pop it in once in a while and play a fucking 19hr game of it.

Cheers mate, think I'll end up downloading it so sign me up for Team Rajah.
RTS game are definitely dying out, which is a shame as they can be such good games when done well.

If anyone wants to easily rank up when they download it, I'm your guy because I suck and am ashamed at myself and suck.

So apparently I bought this on Steam a year ago and didn't realise.
I also apparently bought Age of Enpires 3 in a shop years ago as I found it on a shelf sealed up earlier. I need to stop buying things I think.

Pretty much how Steam works for me too.

I'm glad I got the 21 day free trial of Eve Online rather than outright buying it. There was some story about a big war that looked awesome, so I got the trial and fuck me what a boring shit fest Eve Online is.
Would have hated myself for buying it, getting one of the monthly bundles and then never playing the piece of shit.
