One of the best matches in the history of wrestling, and easily the most important match in All Japan's history. It was the beginning of the 90's youth-movement, when younger stars began to overtake the older ones that had dominated in the late 70's and throughout the 80's.
Supposedly, Jumbo was supposed to win this match, but when Giant Baba saw just how ridiculously pro-Misawa the crowd was, he changed the finish to Misawa's victory. Jumbo asked if the finish could be by countout, a standard 80's tactic that allowed one to lose without looking inferior. Baba told Jumbo a very emphatic, "no."
