Does nobody else play these? I just finished 4. Rolled straight onto that after playing 3. They were both really good, enjoyed them a lot.

I played 3 and absolutely loved it.

Is four more of the same?

I'm not normally into FPS but really really got into Far Cry 3. I think it was the mayhem the animals caused that added to it for me.

Was tempted to get Blood Dragon. Did anyone bother with it?

Four is more of the same, but I think that it was a more fully rounded game than three. Better missions, better storyline, more variety and a less douchey playable character.

Is there a big leap in the graphics between 3 and 4? I've got 3 for the PS3 but despite my claims that I'd finish my backlog of games for that system I've not turned it back on sicne I upgraded.

4 on the ps4 is a significant graphical improvement from 3 on the ps3 yes. You don't need to have played 3 to play 4 other than gameplay mechanics. They are completely separate stories.

But is 3 good enough to look at/handle to go back to having now got used to the PS4?

I'd say so.

Mik, seeing as this is an Ask Mik Anything About Far Cry thread... are the mechanics different enough? Is it just a different setting and not much else? If so, I'm not sure it's worth forking out for.

Saying that. I'm finished with Alien Isolation, so if you fancy doing a swapsie when you're done with Far Cry 4, this could be a great way to cut down on our gaming spend, and bring us even closer together.

Yeah, unless you're a total quality snob (actually I am, but I don't really have a problem with going backwards).

The mechanics are pretty similar, in that you do most things in a similar way. There is a greater variety to the missions and there is more for you to do. For example the bell towers are more interesting, you can unlock many more weapons, the fortresses to conquer are challenging, there are outposts to liberate which are pretty fun. The crafting and skill systems are more rewarding and better structured, driving is different, you can fly buzzer helicopters which are pretty cool. In general it just seems like there is more to do and the storyline is more engaging this time around.

Can do with the swapsies. I traditionally like to buy and keep games, but now that I have 100+ games students who buy ridiculous amounts of games and then are happy to sell, trade or borrow them it really does mean that I don't need to fork out much for games these days.
