This is outrageously funny and well done. Somehow having women play all the wrestlers (except I think it was a dude playing Chyna?) made it 10x better.

Yeah, I love this with a thousand furies. I've watched it 3 times now

Hero made me aware of it yesterday, and I've since shared it will a couple few fellow fans. I want to see his next one. Maybe Hogan? Maybe Brett?

I want to see lady Hogan slam lady Andre the Giant.

I have a major issue with malnourished looking men wearing muscle shirts. Nobody is being turned on by your shoulder blades.

It was posted in the ramble thread yesterday, but yes it was pretty awesome.

Cryme Tyme doing the "See-no-evil-hear-no-evil-speak-no-evil" pose had me dying. There are literally HUNDREDS of little Easter Eggs like that throughout.

I don't see what's so good about this, to be honest. :dunno:

I've only watched the first 3 minutes and it's already pretty awesome. Maculay Culkin cameo is all one needs to know.

It was entertaining and novel. Max Landis kind of grates on me with his propensity to act like the arbiter of all things nerd. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but there's something about him that I find a bit irritating.

So how long before WWE block this from Youtube and sue everybody involved just to sour everyone on them a little more?

You have lost your soul.

For me it encapsulates why we love wrestling (with added fit women) and tries to explain it to the idiots who are all like "duh wrestling is fake, men in underpants" that it is more than a valid form of entertainment and has much more depth than people realise.

Could they even do anything if they wanted to? There's no actual WWE footage shown. I'd imagine it falls under parody as well.

Legally they haven't a leg to stand on, but they're dicks and dumb, so I'm just expecting them to do anything dickish and dumb now. They used to try to sue e-wrestlers for typing their promos in the third person.

Wow, really? What utter cunts.

The_Mike

Yeah back when e-fedding was a big thing WWE would send out cease and desist letters all over the shop, claiming that people were violating their copyright by using their moves, catchphrases, modes of speaking, or pretty much any concept, even if it was just in text on a message board. Fans who cared so much about the product they would pretend to fight each other over the Internet, self-reinforcing their wrestling addiction, are obviously the sorts of people WWE need to stamp out.

Needless to say e-feds are basically dead. I don't think that's directly related to the mad legal spree WWE went on some 10-15 years ago but the enthusiasm has just been beaten out of their audience in so many ways.

The Law
March 18th, 2015, 2:50 PM
You don't have to actually win to make suing a successful strategy. WWE threatens people with lawsuits constantly and it usually works because the people they're threatening don't have the huge financial resources required to defend themselves. Whereas WWE has a team of litigators and basically unlimited financial resources.

Does it though? I think the jokey take on it actually detracts from the point he makes at the start. And the fact that he's extra nerdy just doubles down on what people probably already think of it.

Either way, if it's main thing is to be funny I just didn't find it funny.

Bryan Alvarez says WWE Legal has been attempting to take down "Wrestling isn't Wrestling" & the talent has been told not to tweet about it.

...

Beer-Belly
March 20th, 2015, 6:46 PM
Max Landis tweeted Alvarez and said that he's heard positive things from both the wrestlers and the office and said that the wrestlers aren't allowed to tweet about it because of language and content issues. Alvarez apologized and said he was just going off of what he heard and then invited Landis on his show which he was receptive to.

The office should act like they love it. The whole video is about HHH. And its defensive of wrestling not critical of it.

Bill Casey
March 20th, 2015, 7:49 PM
I would think they should genuinely love it...
It's a giant love letter to professional wrestling in a world where most outsider productions are cynical and focus on the seedy underbelly of the genre...

It makes WWE look like a million bucks...
When has something come along that did that?

The only glaring issue is it's extremely non PG...

Rancid_Planet
March 20th, 2015, 8:03 PM
Yeah that would be the only thing about it that might cause concern. But even then it's done in a very fun manor.

I've had some serious issues with HHH as a wrestler in the past. But I am convinced that the WWE will be a much better world when his father in law is out of the picture and he has near full control over things.

You know why he "gets it" and doesn't take offense to stuff like this? Because he's a wrestler. And I know it doesn't sit well with the stockholders right now. But when his fundamental understanding of how wrestling truly works from the inside out is finally put in charge, those stockholders will love the giant piles of cash he makes for them. By utilizing a vision that puts respect for the business back on top of the priority list. Respect is what's missing these days.

Okay that's the last blowjob he's getting from me for a while.

I can't say that...
There's so much more to running a business than the onscreen product...
Vince McMahon is a ruthless sociopath with unrivaled ambition, thirst for power and constant unwavering drive...
He's a visionary and a risk taker...

From Max Landis' AMA on Reddit:

Mark Henry entered catering, but heard pyro going off outside at Gorilla position, and did this huge dance as he entered catering like he was entering mania.

One of the best moments was also another Mark Henry one. When I walked past him, I was still in business mode, because I was mainly dealing with corporate, and didn't want to look like some fan lost backstage.

But when I walked past Mark, he suddenly SMACKED A FOLDING CHAIR DOWN ONTO THE GROUND and went "WHERE YOU GOIN' LANDIS" in the most like Hall Of Pain scary ass Mark Henry voice ever.

I turned around really scared but he was already smiling really big and said "good youtube man." and shook my hand and we talked for a while. It made me super happy. Mark Henry rules.

I hope they give Henry one last run. The Hall of Pain was one of the best things WWE has done in the last decade, and the retirement fake out was amazing too. It's too bad he's so injury prone, he's lost a ton of his career to being hurt.
