So, I play a lot of PC games. I also don't really venture out of a dozen or so games (or series) that I play regularly. I also have ~400 games/DLC that I have played for less than 1 hour (300 of those are 0 hours) and I want to rectify this.

Some of these I have played a fair bit. Some I have even finished. I've taken the liberty of removing the Football Manager games from the list as steam says I have over 4,000 hours playing them since 2010 so I may have just played them enough. But other than that, in 2015 (and the end of 2014 since I have a bit of time off work and fuck all else planned), I am going to let the people of Rajah control my gaming fate. I can't promise to finish every game I start as some will take forever but I'll post my thoughts on each game after I've played it and cross it off the list.

I've updated the list with games I have accumulated over the last 9 months... sigh.

Christ. If it's the game I am thinking of, I have given up on it both times I have loaded it up. Daunting prospect, not very beginner friendly from memory.

Get through Bioshock, and then come back.

You have way too many sprawling huge world, and time consuming strategy games on there. Bioshock should be able to be completed in a decently short amount of time.

I scanned your post for mention of me.

So are you not buying more games, or asking me to buy you games, because you feel like you should beat the ones you have?

It's admirable but you should have bought Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines while it was on sale for $5. I've actually played that one (but haven't beat it) and it's fun.

$$. I have close to none so for the foreseeable future, won't be extending my collection. Maybe a few co-op games to play with a work buddy but single player wise, what I have will be it for a while (I think).

And I played Vampire Masquerade when it was new... but like so many on my list, never finished it.

That's one of the games on the list I have finished. Just played it for a bit again from the start, got up to just before Dr Steinman  Forgot how wonderfully designed it is, the use of sound and light and the voice acting. Such an awesome game, possibly the last FPS I have actually played through to the end.

CitiesInMotion 2.

Good thread idea.

30 minutes in and I've managed to fuck up in the tutorial. I managed to put a bus stop on a one way street and had it in the loop going in the wrong direction to the rest of the loop.... so to get to it, the route had to fuck off around half the city to get to the corner on the other block.

Sigh.

You could start Fallout New Vegas and get to the main plot point kill Benny in a couple of hours.

Do a One City Challenge or Always War game on Civ IV (don't bother with Vanilla, just play Beyond the sword)

Started again, got the bus stuff sorted. Nice city loop. Tried to put a tram line in and despite me having tram lines going to my depot and stops on the tram line, I can't create a line because "there is no tram line from the previous stop" :wtf: So I thought I would delete the tram line, start it again.... and accidentally deleted one of the major roads through the city.

Fucking hell. I had hair before I started playing this "game".

CitiesInMotion 2.

Good thread idea.

I've given it an hour, ruined the tutorial twice and thrown the towel in after I've been told to build a metro line with nothing remotely resembling guidance. Try and build it and keep getting told I can't cross that bit, can't go there, too many buildings, too much water, doesn't join, can't do that.

I can see how people who enjoy this sort of simulation might enjoy this game but definitely not for me. I never really got into the Sim City games years back and this reminds me all too much of them. Glad I got it free in some bundle or promotion and didn't pay for it.

The_Mike
December 27th, 2014, 11:50 PM
I love Sim City games and had the exact same problem. The tutorial is fiddly and it seems pretty easy to push the wrong thing and lose all connection to the instructions. So you're not alone, even with someone who likes that sort of thing.

You haven't played Portal 2?! Do so, immediately. It's in my top ten games of all time, maybe even top five. Co-op is great too.

I'd also recommend Mafia II; it's a little clunky, but such a fun game.

Burnout Paradise is still a great game to this day.

Bully is well worth playing. Quite an underrated title really.

Dead Space is really good too, especially if you've got surround sound.

Grimario
December 28th, 2014, 8:27 AM
Some of these I have played a fair bit. Some I have even finished

I've played and finished Portal 2 :p Tried playing some co-op with a workmate the other day but my internet is so awful that the latency was so bad I couldn't even make it to the entrance way for Room 1 without falling off the edge.

Had Bully on the Wii, not sure I ever finished it.

Jay
December 28th, 2014, 9:18 AM
Ah, I didn't see that bit. As it's under "to play" I thought those are the games you haven't played yet. I'll let you off, then. The "Still Alive" trophy in Portal 2's co-op is probably the most frustrating, yet funniest and most rewarding trophy I've ever experienced. I want to go back and play through it all again, now.

Portal 3 had better come out for PS4 next year.

The_Mike

I had Bully on the PS2, never finished it either but it was really good. It's basically a bunch of minigames tied together but the world works so well at making them all mean something, and just wandering around the school environment discovering things was fun. They changed the name in the UK, though, since I suppose calling it Bully would encourage bullying or something...

Grimario

Isn't it basically GTA but set in a school?

The_Mike
December 28th, 2014, 9:21 PM
It is, which you'd think would make it feel a bit generic and samey compared to GTA, but they've adapted the whole thing to the school concept really well so it feels like a very fresh game. Or at least it did at the time, maybe after GTAIV and V and RDR people will find it a bit too much standard Rockstar stuff.

I'm still miffed Red Dead Redemption never made it to PC.

I am not sure I could ever do that achievement... having your partner die is one of the most satisfying parts of the game.

Do a One City Challenge or Always War game on Civ IV (don't bother with Vanilla, just play Beyond the sword)

OCC suits my game play so I booted up a Tiny game today, running in the background while at "work" (gotta love everyone being on holidays). Played as Gandhi, got a nice starting spot with mountains on one side, river running through the plains and ocean a few growth spurts outside my cultural influence. Had one hairy moment when Lincoln declared war on me after I refused to give him my horses but I quickly put some troops together and destroyed New York.I fell way behind Shaka in terms of overall score as he slowly started to push across the map and invade the USA but I ended up winning a Diplomatic victory after a vote went my way.

Play Crusader Kings II, that game is addictive!

I did and I am loving it. Holy shit.

Plotted to kill my brother, success.
Plotted to kill my other brother, success.
Married a princess, heir to some kingdom, success.
Plotted to kill her dad, success.
Betrothed our son to a princess, success.
Killed her dad, usurped kingdom, success.
Invaded a kingdom on the back of some holy war, success.

Dead.

Son is a lunatic with a harelip. First month, invasion. Lose two kingdoms.
One of my Duke's starts a civil war, declaring independence and attacking the shit out of me.
My spymaster plots against me and tries to poison me.

Can't wait to turn 16 so I can fuck them all up without having my regent say "no, be a good boy". :irked:

So yeah... that didn't go so well. Lost two kingdoms, one to invading religious fanatics in a Holy War for something.
Betrothed my son to the princess of Croatia, 3rd in line for succession. Will have to make sure I get some of that happening in a few years...
If only because I accidentally backed my brother in law in a war against his dad (the king of Croatia... fuck).

Yep, that's what happened with King Harelip the Cruel (or whatever his name was)... 3 of the vassals hated me... -100 opinion. One of them plotted to kill me so I imprisoned him. Then the other two revolted, joined forces and I wiped them out. Put both leaders in prison, executed all 3 of them.

Fuckers.

Thankfully the current king is sane and well liked. Apart from my fuck up with Croatia, things are going okay.

Torchlight 2. Always Torchlight 2.

As per your message on Steam, I've started a game as an Embermage. I've got nearly 30 hours on the game but don't have any characters when I load it up... :wtf: I've definitely played the first one and I think I got the second one to play co-op with my work mate but don't exactly remember playing it with him. Same reason I picked up the Van Helsing games... but have never actually played them co-op.

Played for a few hours... I think Prismatic Bolt is where I am going to go. 5 homing missiles that I can add the elemental stuff from the other skill trees to looks the goods.

Fairly certain TL2 is the game my brother played a bucket load when he was house sitting for us last year. I have a bunch of mods already installed including ones that add new pets. Think I went with a standard one though (panda?), not sure.

Just protected the Guardian or whatever that quest line is. Died once when I was taking a sip of coffee and trying to play one handed. Was suicide, critted on a barbed enemy and killed myself :happysad:

I will also recommend Arkham Asylum and Arkham City...

Hotline Miami is a great game, as are all the Batman games.

Had a quick play through of Arkham Asylum. Pretty close to 100% on Normal I think, just have to find Amadeus again and take a picture.

I love this game, loved this game when it came out and have played it thru a few times. And I love that you recommended it Mikey... since I am pretty sure I was the one who told you how amazing the games were a few years ago when you were umming and ahhing over a GOTY bundle for the first two for £5 or something ridiculous. I was going to bump this suggestion to the bottom of the list but even though I said I wasn't going to, I couldn't pass up Arkham Origins for $5... so thought I might do the whole lot in one stint.

So thanks to the discussion of CK2 in here I finally decided to start playing EU4. Fuck that was a mistake. If you think Civs One More Turn is bad. Fuck me. I was up until 4 last night waiting for Castille to continue colonizing South America. It's always. "Oh just wait for this place to colonize, just wait." Fuck. I did have a fun Portugal game where I took over most of North America though.

What annoyed me about EU4 is when they changed it so when you colonize a certain proportion of an area, it becomes it's own protectorate sort of thing, I forget the actual name. They send you money etc each month but when it came to wars, I'd rather have had full control and money from them.. but theres no option to not have them happen, I don't think, unless someones wrote a mod for it.

See for me it was a blessing in disguise in my colonization of NA. The reason is that once I got a couple on the mainland (New Portugal, Portuguese Louisiana) They would produce their own armies. So all I would do is declare war on one of the Native provinces and all my Subject states would come in and do all the actual fighting for me. Which was good because I was shit at maintaining an army/navy. The downside comes like in my current Castille game where the recently formued Castillian BRazil decided to pick a fight with Portuguese Brazil. Thankfully I wasn't drawn into the fight, but all my time spent colonizing Brazil was pretty much for naught since they got destroyed and lost 3 provinces of mine.

I booted up a game of CK2 last night after watching Japan humble Palestine and Mrs Grim was in the study doing her ironing... and I let her choose my player. King Philippe of France. I was dead inside about 5 minutes after the Holy Roman Empire declared war and killed me.

Fun game. :irked:

Torchlight 2, motherfucker.

As per your message on Steam, I've started a game as an Embermage. I've got nearly 30 hours on the game but don't have any characters when I load it up... :wtf: I've definitely played the first one and I think I got the second one to play co-op with my work mate but don't exactly remember playing it with him. So I've now apparently put another 45 hours into TL2 than I had originally. Some of that was definitely overnight when I went to bed without turning the PC off but I am a L3 Embermage who shoots Prismatic Bolts in bad things faces. I've just finished some main quest and my next objective is to head off to meet some Djinni. Djinni reminds me of Forrest Gump saying Jenny.

Very good mindless click and loot shenanigans. Not as good as Dungeon Siege though

Stan - I've been prepping for FO4 by playing FO from the start. Halfway through the opening game. FO2, FO3 and then FONV before November 10th (including being away on holidays for 2 weeks) isn't too ambitious, is it?
