View Full Version : Why Doesn't My Volume Work?

The past couple days since the latest Windows update, my volume doesn't work at all. Doesn't matter if it's listening to music, watching YouTube (which also has started giving me error messages and won't even show videos beyond a loop of a mute two seconds before said error message), videos on other sites that play but give no volume or the glorious Spain national anthem renditions I've done, I get zero volume at all.
I have, in fact, made sure the volume is actually turned on in every facet.
Should I unplug it and plug it back in?

Did you clean the jizz out of the speakers?

Have you tried throwing your hands up in the air like you just don't care? That usually causes the volume and/or the bass to be increased

Built in speakers or external ones?
Have you gone into control panel and checked the settings etc? That will usually tell if theres an error.
You might need to download a driver update.

Do you have media player software. Try playing some audio file and see if it actually plays (the line moves along and the spectrum thing bounces around and so on). Presumably you won't hear anything but knowing whether or not it will actually play audio files would be useful.
I kept getting error messages on Youtube last night as well, though no audio issue. They might have been tweaking something there.
EDIT: And just a thought, are you using Windows 8? If so, try 'restart' rather than shutting down and then booting back up.

Try plugging in headphones, and seeing if it works then. Otherwise your speakers might be done for.

Make sure your audio output is your sound card that the speakers are plugged into. I had an update recently and for some reason my default output changed.

I usually jizz in the air. Don't think I have the ability for it to reach my speakers.

Isn't that what the bass line is for in porn flicks? Just sit on the speakers, let the music do the work.

Works perfect with people with big vagina's like yours.

That would explain why you have such a problem with me then since you only like tiny vagina.

Cleaning out the jizz is the first step when troubleshooting anything. So thanks for the redundant information.

I haven't tried anything since starting this thread until this very moment. Haven't even looked at it as I have a ton of shit going on I'd rather not have going on.
You're a mad genius.
All I had to do was restart.
Legit thank you to you.

I have a minor computer related issue, not to do with volume but fuck it. So I turn on my laptop this morning and the screen where you log on had gone weird, by that I mean the
display had gone to a basic theme even though I had changed no settings or applied a update. When I logged in again the whole display was now basic and the wallpaper now gone, so I re apply the settings I had and everything is back to normal and working ok.
Later when I go back on the laptop the log in screen is still set to basic display, yet when I log in its the normal theme.
Its hardly a big deal but it seems odd that this happened and thought maybe someone may have a idea on what happened as you cant change the log in screen display separately as best I know.

Might help knowing which OS and version you're using.

When you say basic, do you mean like Windows 7 Basic:

Or Classic:

Yeh by the look of that its classic, I have tried pissing about with different themes then going back to what I had, but the log on screen is still in basic when you go to ease of access etc, yet the actual operating system when logged on is normal. I have googled and cant find anything, As longs as it doesn't cause any problems I can live with it but I still cant understand what the fuck has gone on.

I wonder if it's booting into safe mode for some reason. Have you made any hardware changes? This is also the laptop that has been overheating quite a bit in the past, aye?
If it was going to basic, it might be a GPU problem as I think if W7 detects certain things then it'll turn off Aero but that wouldn't put it back to the old school look, I think.

Yeh same laptop, like I say other than the log in screen everything is the same so im not so sure it is safe mode.

I wouldn't worry about it, Windows profiles can be a strange issue. It sounds like the default got set to classic for some reason, and so when you're not logged in yet then that's what the system default is.
I had a nightmare when I had to use my PC to give people tests on. I created a new user account but it just didn't pick up half the settings for things that I'd installed under my own account.
