Is it possible to disable them in specific forums? Specifically in the BG sub forum.

Yes, I know complaining about something in the Board games forum is a bit shit but it's getting to be a massive pain in the arse trying to moderate games based on information and control of information when people just blatantly add tags that give shit away.

To be honest do they serve any actual purpose? All people use them for is to be dickheads to eachother. Mainly to PG.

They serve zero purpose and are annoying.

As far as I can tell there isn't a way to disable them in a specific forum. As a temporary measure you could cut and paste the following into the tag line when you create the thread so that no additional tags can get added and you don't have to worry about spoilers...

001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 019, 020, 021, 022, 023, 024, 025

I'll see if we can't come up with a better solution.

Other solutions I have seen used on other forums is only thread creator being allowed to add tags. Obviously that might not be an awesome solution given the rather free roaming nature of this place...

Is it a cap of 5 per user? I've tried to add that to a thread and it tells me I have exceeded the limit of tags by 20.

5 for creator, 2 for anyone else it seems. I suppose as a "signup" you can each add a numerical tag. 10 people = 20 tags + creator 5. Of course this doesn't help any other type of thread.. unless people just add random/nonsensical tags. Heck, could even add relevant tags to other threads

Just pm me or report the threads you want us to address and I can add the 25 tags at once.

I'm not sure why this can't be managed more effeciently. Perhaps it can and I am just a gimp. Looks to me to be a vb plug in that you either remove entirely or have it everywhere.

Yep - that appears to be the case with stuff I have found when looking for solutions too.

It's an on or off situation. Doesn't seem to be selectable at different forum levels and sub levels.
Can have it set so ALL users can tag (what we have), only thread creator can tag or you can create specific user groups and give them permission to add tags.

For me, the biggest issue is that no one seems to be able to tell me who put what tags on. If that's the case, what's to stop me being a massive douche (apart from me not being a massive douche) and going into a TV thread like Game of Thrones and adding tags spoiling the show with any major plot twists coming up in the book? You can't identify who did it so couldn't prove it was me or just an actual douche taking this idea and doing it now to incriminate me.

All fair points. Going to try and get them removed...

I like tags in general but agree the unaccountability is an issue. Regardless of the mafia games thing, I reported some tags in the sports forum for having the F word. And I don't mean fuck

Like I said, it's just an excuse to post shit about someone. That's all the wrestling forums ones were. It'd be nice if just admins could tag stuff, because then we can "index" threads. Like: RAW (for every weeks RAW thread) and .... well that's all I can think of at the minute :dunno:
