How much video games do you play a day? What is your system of preference? Do you choose to play games over hanging out with people?

I used to play video games all the time. I recall playing Rock Band most of the day, and even asking to leave work early just so I could go home and play

However those days are long gone. I have trouble these days playing video games for more than 15 minutes. With GTA V I was more involved, playing for an hour here, a couple hours there. But I've lost interest recently. My brother got me the South Park game for my birthday, and I only played it once so far, for about 10 minutes. I also picked up Legos The Hobbit but haven't even opened it yet. :(

The last game I beat 100% was Legos Lord Of The Rings. I think video games are quite like a book. You have to get to a certain point in the game before you become immersed.

I think the last game I played throughout was Heavy Rain. I really only play FIFA for a quick H2H game online now and that's it. Play a lot of poker online when I have any spare time. It's hard to come by a lot when you are married up. Although I did finally get my gaming cupboard fixed up tonight. She looks beautiful. The Saturn, Dreamcast, NES, N64, XBOX and PS1 all hooked up through one amp and one 32 inch TV. I called her Geraldine.

I don't think I've every actually seen a Saturn in person. I'm bloody impressed. Can't wait to get my shit set up though.

I have two gaming spots in the house. The PS4 and Wii are on the main TV. We use the Wii together occasionally and I squeeze the PS4 gaming in if I'm home alone. The PS3 and 360 are in my little den on a smaller TV. That's where I am most of the time if I'm playing.

I definitely don't play every day. Sometimes, I'm lucky if I can go for an hour at once. I try to squeeze in a session 2-3 times a week though.

I am all about nostalgia!!!!!!!!! N64 is my favorite console by far. Can't go wrong with games like Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater. This video basically sums up my entire childhood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajiu00WggCA

My habits have really evolved to center on what I like. I love the Mass Effect and KOTOR games and have likewise played all of them many, many times. Where I'd have gone for something new and shiny a decade ago, I keep gravitating to what I've found that I like. Somewhere around the PS3/360 generation I really feel as though games hit that point where they don't look like shit when you go back to them years later so I'm perfectly content to put off new releases now.

News that they're already making the Mass Effect Trilogy, Uncharted and The Last of Us for PS4 will play a huge role in me getting the next system, as I'll want to be able play my favorites when I buy a new system. Backplay was a huge draw when I got the Wii U as I'll be playing the first Zelda and Mario until the day I die.

This is an interesting discussion point. I used to be a gaming machine when I was young, but injury and apathy has hugely turned that around. I don't even have a console anymore, and I haven't bought a game on release date since Skyrim. Like Atty, I've found I have wound up just sticking with what I know I like and going back to the same wells again and again. I've a ridiculous number of hours on Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, I still throw on Civ IV or even Red Alert 2 now and then for a strategy fix, and I even keep going back to an old Artificial Life game from the 1990s called Creatures. I just never play for long stretches like I used to, everything is an hour here and a couple of hours there, not marathon sessions. I got completely burnt out on shooters years ago and have zero interest in them anymore, and that basically dominates the AAA market, so I feel like I have tuned out a big segment of the industry. I do keep tabs on indie stuff though, and find there's always something will scratch an itch I have for a particular type of game I loved in the 90s.

Aye. With me, it used to be that whenever I picked up a game, I'd finish it. Nowadays, if I'm not feeling it, it's cast aside rather quickly. Ass Creed III is a perfect example of this. I'd played through and done everything in all the previous games in the series, got III with ridiculous expectations and wasn't feeling it in the first hour and moved on.

I'm not happy that the PS4 is already lining up to sell a load of the previous generation back to us so soon. I don't see myself making the jump though, as I feel I need to see something that's a convincing step up.

I changed the habit of a lifetime this generation - it used to be very rare that I'd finish games, now I tended to finish games multiple times. I bought way too much and spread myself too thin, now I have to resist starting my fourth playthrough of something because I know I'll get bored at some point.

I'm recently back to Demon's Souls, and I've never got too far in any of the Souls games. I've been gently getting to know this one and doing a stint every day or two. I think it's the longest I've focused on just one game for a while. I think this may be the same as the end of the PS2 where I just gently stepped away for a few years.

I've been a casual gamer all my life.

It's getting more casual as I get older. I can't remember the last time I turned my PS3 on, even if it was a week or so ago. Even then it's only Fifa.

Every now and then I'll get the bug and fire something else up, but rarely and I'm so out of the loop I don't know what new games are good etc.

I'm finding myself gaming on my handhelds more and more. Part of that is the WWE Network. I play that on my PS3, and game while a show plays. Another part of that is they are putting out games I want on my handhelds. Mario Golf (Finally), Bravely Default (finally played the demo, and need to get it), and the Zelda from last year. The Vita is slowly getting better too.

I really want to pull the trigger on the WiiU, but the GBA games just aren't enough for me to budge just yet. The Mario games are very tempting, but not quite enough. Maybe the Smash Bros. and Mario Kart titles are what will do it. To be hones I should just buy one. I didn't play much from the Wii line up, because I felt my PS3 had enough games to keep me satisfied.

I typically have one "main" game on the go, which is usually some kind of 20000 hour RPG, and I play smaller indie and retro games along the way. I usually find myself with 2 weeks off here and there of nothing to do, so that's when I usually try to catch up with my gaming. I try to finish a game for each of those time-off blocks as I know I may need to go for multi-week stretches without gaming at all.

Handheld/PC/console doesn't mean much to me, I can pretty much find something to play on either one. I've also sort of gotten to the point where I ignore most AAA releases, and just stick to my backcatalog (played and unplayed). That said, I just bought Dark Souls 2 a couple weeks ago and haven't stopped playing it since, so....
