I can't think of Shibata and Suzuki ever crossing paths. Even back in the day.

A google search tells me they wrestled during the 2004 G1 Climax

saw the New Beginning results with Ishii beating Naito and rejoiced...

...until I realised it was only for Naito to get revenge in ROUND FUCKING ONE. Awful.

Sure there'll be plenty of Makabe and Yujiro goodness though! :irked:

Shinsuke vs Shibata is very much in play. Warm yourself with that thought.

by far the best part of that segment is how the japanese, after being silent for a full minute of jbl's rant, react with amazed oooohs when the lizard slowly tips over

If Shibata doesn't win, I'm calling hax.

I also don't like how they are apparently going to give Naito his win back after everything he tried to do to sabatoge the NEVER title match. Dipshit; maybe New Japan will surprise us and give us a second Ishii win. Hell send Ishii to the finals to lose to Shibata. That would be beyond sweet.

Shibata's winning it but choosing to go after Tanahashi. Leaving runner up Shinsuke to face Okada. Gets the IC title even more over and gets us CHAOS v CHAOS that peeps been waiting for.

Nakamura/Devitt and the likely Naito/Shibata semi are tasty though.

How was Naito/Ishii?

Shelton beat Shibata. Gonna be Shelton/Fale and Suzuki/Nakamura in the semis. Jesus.

I guess there's SOMETHING to be said for unpredictability. :\

Shinsuke is the only one left who can win this. Doing Shinsuke vs Okada in Sumo Hall instead of the Yokohama Arena makes no sense to me

Oh and this:

* A bloody Shinsuke Nakamura won his first New Japan Cup today after a grueling couple of matches. He first had to defeat Minoru Suzuki, never an easy task, while the Bullet Club’s Bad Luck Fale made short work of Shelton Benjamin. This put the “King of Strong Style” at a disadvantage going into the final and he lost a lot of blood after getting a cut above his nose. Fale put in his biggest performance since returning from his excursion in an exciting main event, but in an awesome finish, Shinsuke countered the Bad Luck Fall with a huracanrana and quickly hit the Boma Ye to win the match. Nakamura had won pretty much everything except the New Japan Cup today and can now add that trophy to his collection.

Then came the big shocker. It’s customary for the winner of the NJC to get a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Title, which had everyone thinking “Okada vs. Nakamura”, the battle between CHAOS leaders many are eager to see. But Shinsuke made a choice and said he couldn’t live with losing twice in a row to Tanahashi this year, so instead demanded a rematch for the title he made famous – the IWGP Intercontinental Title! This will take place at Sumo Hall next month, while New Japan must find a challenger for Okada in the next day.

so no title defense for okada at invasion attack and he's in an undercard tag instead. pretty lame.
