SIMPLE FACTS:

Salty Bet is a website where you watch a computer play a fighting game against itself

It uses MUGEN which is a game that allows you to enter custom characters so the fight roster is mental. Spiderman vs Peter Griffin. Currently watching Samurai Jack fighting some guy from DragonBall Z

You can create an account and bet (pretend) on the outcome of each fight. This is the point of the site, really. Even if you don't want to bet, it's mad to watch for 5 minutes. Then you'll probably feel like betting.

They'll tell you to always go for tiny characters because it's hard for them to get hit, but I had a feeling Wakko was going to lose. A lot of the chat stream is all mind games, because the odds are set from each bet, so they'll try and convince you to bet on the other guy so to improve the payout they get. I think because there's a minimum of $1 payback then it's weird, it sometimes is silly going all in on a sure bet because it's still 1:100 and you're risking it all for a pittance. Now that I've seen Kraken come close to losing it's going to be worth sticking a small bet against it because if someone gets at it's head and stays there, it's buggered, and you'll probably get a 100:1 payout.
