- The Wyatt Family will return. Will Kane be their focus yet again?

- Layla betrayed Kaitlyn Friday night on Smackdown and aligned herself with Divas Champion AJ Lee. What will Kaityln have to say tonight?

- Christian was deemed #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship Friday night. Will his impressive momentum continue on RAW?

- The McMahons want to give Daniel Bryan a “Corporate Makeover* on RAW. Will we see Mr. Goatface get sheered?

- CM Punk and Brock Lesnar are confirmed for SummerSlam. Will they come face-to-face tonight with both of them being in the building?

- Ryback has been a big bully as of late. Will his bullying ways continue, or will someone teach him to “Be a Star?”

- Triple H, Vince McMahon, Brock Lesnar, and Rob Van Dam are all advertised for the show.

I'm excited, since RAW has been great the last few weeks. I hope we see more of Punk and DA WYATTs this week. Also, they really need to get Ziggler in a program for Summerslam. Who's not doing anything right now? Ambrose? Barrett?

Kimura Kid
August 5th, 2013, 6:53 PM
I imagine Ziggler will face Big E. Possibly in the pre show of SS......ffs that's terrible.

G-Fresh
August 5th, 2013, 6:55 PM
It could be worse. It could be on the actual PPV.

Kimura Kid
August 5th, 2013, 7:00 PM
Haha! I'm actually excited for the match....just kinda bummed for Ziggler. I'd imagine he had different plans for his Summer Slam 2013.

mth
August 5th, 2013, 7:07 PM
Reckon Ziggler and Big E could have a damn fine match at SummerSlam. Ziggler will get back in the title picture in time. He's got some character development to do first. You can't turn face without sorting out the relationships with your former (and still heel) associates. Big E/AJ are an obstacle he's got to overcome before he can get his sights realigned on the belt.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 7:10 PM
I can see E/Zig opening the show, maybe a multi man IC match on the pre-show or even Kaitlyn vs Layla.

That's a great point. I understand and agree with that. Shit is rushed all to often nowadays in wrestling. Hopefully they are handling Ziggler properly and not forgetting about him.

I assume you meant "Can't see them opening SS"

And I hope your right....I just have this gut feeling it will. It really hasn't been pushed as one of the major stories.....or a relevant story for that matter as of late.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 7:23 PM
No I did mean that I can see them having the first match at SS and I think it'd be a fun match too.

Christian being the number 1 contender is kinda weird. Hopefully he wins and is a bit of a transitional champ the way everyone thought Del Rio would be. I can understand if they don't want to keep going and going with ADR/Ziggler. Henry takes it off Christian, Ziggler takes it off Henry. Book it.

G-Fresh
August 5th, 2013, 7:47 PM
Nah fuck all that noise. Christian deserves a good reign.

Hero!
August 5th, 2013, 7:52 PM
He was a solid world champ back in the day. Great ECW champ too.

mth
August 5th, 2013, 7:58 PM
I'd turn Christian heel and have him be a rival for the belt when Ziggler has it.

G-Fresh
August 5th, 2013, 7:59 PM
He was a solid world champ back in the day. Great ECW champ too.

He was WHC 2 times for like a month and got buried by Orton over & over. Ain't nothing solid about that.

Kimura Kid

Ok, I understand now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

That would work. Although I like Christian looking like he has a chance to win the title at Summer Slam only to have Del Rio retain clean. ADR will look like a strong Champion when Ziggler challenges him next.

ADR title reign is super impressive in my eyes. After Ziggler Cashed in on a softened up ADR to win the tile the night after Mania and remember ADR still looked strong even in the loss. Then Del Rio defeated Swagger at Extreme Rules in an I quit match. Then Del Rio destroyed a returning Ziggler at Payback who was medically cleared to compete, Winning Back the championship and re injuring Ziggler in the process. Then ADR defeated Ziggler again at MITB due to AJ's interference.

If he can beat Christain clean at SS he will look like a very strong Champion for a Baby Face underdog like Ziggler.

August 5th, 2013, 8:02 PM
Good matches and he felt like a main event heel. His ECW championship run provided some fantastic matches too.

Wade Barrett??? Sure, why not.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 8:18 PM
This is taking far too long.

Why the fuck is Wade Barrett the barber?

this is some good television right here!

TooCool
August 5th, 2013, 8:21 PM
Poor Wade. Been a jobber for so long, and here I thought something good was going to happen to him. Now he's just a jobber with a ****ed up beard.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 8:21 PM
That was so fucking strange. Vince's tie, Barrett the barber, the shirt. Well, it made me laugh and Bryan was great so, fine I guess.

Hero!
August 5th, 2013, 8:21 PM
Barrett will do anything for a push.

Jimmy Zero
August 5th, 2013, 8:22 PM
Vince's tie was pimp as hell.

Andy

How wonderfully violent.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 8:37 PM
So by WWE's recent logic Ricardo is now a face. Maybe they're wanting him to be a wrestler now?

Beer-Belly
August 5th, 2013, 8:40 PM
So by WWE's recent logic Ricardo is now a face. Maybe they're wanting him to be a wrestler now?

It's not really recent, though. Face turns by way of heel beatdowns have been around for ages. That's basically how Austin turned.

Anyone else think Cody looks like a whiney little bitch in his Sandow feud?

Beer-Belly
August 5th, 2013, 8:43 PM
No, Cody's justifiably bitter.

Jimmy Zero
August 5th, 2013, 8:45 PM
It's an every man for himself match. I think it's weird.

And this crowd is DEAD.

TooCool
August 5th, 2013, 8:47 PM
Anyone else think Cody looks like a whiney little bitch in his Sandow feud?

That's how faces usually are anyway.

I think WWE dropped the ball here on Sandow's intellect during the MITB Match. I recall Sandow crawling near the announce table to "hide" near the end of the match. Up until the point where he saw Cody climb that ladder so he can shove him off. Cody could have at least called Sandow out on that, and have Sandow argue that he was smarter than him.

JT4104
August 5th, 2013, 8:52 PM
Ok....I hate this crowd. Just lousy right now.

Andy
August 5th, 2013, 8:55 PM
Only took 55 minutes for a face to win via count out this week. What exactly was the point in that?

Kimura Kid
August 5th, 2013, 8:59 PM
Wyatt family already have their own movie. lol

So Rhodes/Sandow and Kane/Bray are official in some sort of capacity. Hopefully MITB and inferno stips are added.

E/Ziggler tonight puzzles me. That'll be twice on TV, can't see them going again on PPV. So that would leave Ziggler with under two weeks to get something built in time. Hmm.

I think they're talking about when Cena in a promo said, "My elbow looks like a football", or somethiing to that effect, in reference to him having suffered plenty of injuries and paid his dues in his career.

So tonight's RAW was good. As mentioned earlier, it seemed like a somewhat botchy RAW as far as matches, and no matches really caught my attention sans RVD/Del Rio, and not EVERY segment was top notch, but I enjoyed most of it. I liked the opening segment, Wyatt and Kane's interaction(and a "Ring of Fire" match according to WWE.com, which HAS to be an Inferno match!!), even most of Cena's promo. Still digging the Cody/Sandow feud, and it's nice to see the match officially on the card.

Punk/Axel was actually good, but I was distracted during the match. The whole segment AFTER was perfect though. Punk, not injured, was pretty much able to take it to Lesnar, but constantly showed that Lesnar's power would overtake him eventually, he just wouldn't stay down. Never has that WolverinePunk/HulkLesnar poster someone made for SummerSlam made more sense. The crowd was wild for this, too, with Punk trying to hit Heyman and ultimately being his downfall in the brawl, but still leaving that ambiguity of whether Punk actually bested Lesnar, or if he ultimately would have got the beatdown. Plus, he needed the chair.

The 6-Man Tag Main was pretty middle of the road, especially considering the talent involved. The finish was awkward considering tag partner interference usually isn't disqualified, and the whole segment afterward was...something. I liked it, mostly. Orton showing the heel seeds, almost cashing in, and all-around showing venomous disdain for Cena was pretty awesome, and it gave a little more significance to The Shield's presence at the end of the show...but with no promo time or involved angles, they really are starting to feel like WWE's plot device, and that has to end soon.

7/10

Less awkward moments would have given this show an 8.

I hope WWE never goes back to Green Bay. Big break up of Ricardo and ADR, Langston beating Ziggler and a fucking INFERNO MATCH TEASE and they didn't give a fuck about any of it. You could actually hear them chatting among themselves during E/Zig.

I thought it was a good show though. Lots of good promos and story development. Lots of questions still unanswered though?

- Were we pretty much told that Vince and Trips will be interfering with Bryan/Cena?
- What will Ziggler do?
- No Sheamus on the show?! I like it.
- What stips will Punk/Lesnar and Cody/Sandow have?
- What roles will Shield/Henry/Axel/Kofi etc have?

Hope we get the answers next week.

The commentary during the Punk/Lesnar bit was sublime I thought.

"Lesnar's coming and Punk's not backing down"
"Of course he's not backing down, he was champion for 434 days"

That gave a real push on the 'Punk is our guy, Brock isn't' emotion and the two worked it brilliantly. Great build for this.

Andy

Yeah the build for this has been absolutely brilliant. I just hope they add a no DQ stip for it. It would make perfect sense and Brock always works best with a stip match.

- No Sheamus on the show?! I like it.

Ditto, though I'm wondering if there was just some random explanation or if his stock is finally starting to fall (or creative just doesn't know what to do with him beyond those stupid "commercials"). For all of the awesomeness the WWE has delivered recently, Sheamus's booking as the "asshole face" continues to baffle me.

However, it seems like there has been a change in his prominence. I really took notice after he lost to Bryan, cleanly, several weeks ago. Though, I'll admit my viewing was a bit erratic for a while, as I recently underwent major surgery and complications kept me in the hospital for over two weeks. But both Raw and Smackdown have managed to keep me interested, and I'm back to watching it every week.

The Law
August 6th, 2013, 12:58 PM
This is a perfect time to give Sheamus a few weeks off. Summerslam is set and there's no room for him to have a match of any real significance on the card. There are lots of interesting things going on right now, and none of them involve him. So let him rest for a few weeks, come back refreshed and healthy, and hopefully let creative come up for a new direction for him because he's fallen badly in the past year. Last year at this time I thought he was on pace to be the #2 guy in the company, and now he's basically a midcarder.

I wish they would institute a more formal rotation system. Every guy should get a month off during the year. Giving guys time off will help reduce injuries, help keep them fresh, and lessen the effects of burn-out. It could just be like "okay, it's September: Del Rio, Sheamus, Ambrose, and Slater are off this month." For some guys, you would need to have a storyline explanation for why. For other guys, they could just go away for a few weeks and no one would notice.

I actually more get the feeling that it'll lead to HHH/Bryan, with Hunter being revealed as the real guy against Bryan. Like, whenever the cash in screws Bryan out of the belt (say, Survivor Series), he isn't given his rematch. He blames Vince and goes at it there and then gets sledgehammered in/around the Rumble. It's a way of shifting HHH to the boss role and giving one of their most over talents something to do at Mania.

Del Rio needs a break from the Title picture for awhile.

Just curious as to why you think ADR needs to be removed from the title picture? He's an amazing heel who generates legit heat. He's good in the ring and his current title reign is super impressive!

Ziggler Cashed in on a softened up ADR the night after mania to win the tile but remember ADR looked strong even in the loss to Ziggler. Then Del Rio defeated Swagger at Extreme Rules in an I quit match while Ziggler recovered from his concussion earning himself the #1 contendership for Ziggler's title. Then Del Rio destroyed a returning Ziggler at Payback who was medically cleared to compete, Winning Back the championship and re injuring Ziggler in the process. (Looked like a beast) Then ADR defeated Ziggler in the rubber match at MITB due to AJ's interference.

If he can beat Christian clean at SS he will look like a very strong Champion for a Baby Face underdog like Ziggler.

ADR is a reputable strong heel champion and the perfect guy for the WHC right now.

Psycho666Soldier

Yeah, I really can't say I'd like the scenario of Bryan winning and then losing via cash-in to Orton. The story makes sense, but if Bryan's gonna win, I'd much rather he keep the belt for a while than have his first WWE Title reign tarnished because he lost it in one night.

Bryan losing due to shenanigans and THEN Orton cashing in on Cena would be a better bet, I think. You get a Triple Threat at Night of Champions, Orton wins, then Cena and Bryan fight over who gets the next shot, with Bryan winning and chasing Orton. Something to that effect.

OR, what I would personally love, Bryan makes Cena tap out, Orton cashes in, and Bryan becomes the first man to beat the MITB Winner in a last minute Cash-In Match. Then Orton snaps and chases after Bryan for a bit. Only problem with that scenario is it doesn't give much room for a long-term plan for Orton, or Bryan, for that matter.

mth

True, but they threw him in the stable in the game and I was simply basing it off that...

I'd ALMOST say bring Mason Ryan up again, but he needs more time in NXT to really be useful in such a group.

It also wouldn't be a half-bad idea to get Adrian Neville on TV and the group turning on him could eventually propel him to being a big time face...

i don't think so. might be predictable, but predictable isn't always a bad thing if it establishes so much good.

having bryan/cena stay a singles match allows it more focus, while letting the specter of the briefcase hang in the air. bryan beating cena(even better, making him tap) in a one on one match puts him over immensely, way more than winning a triple threat, where it's highly likely orton would be involved in the decision over cena. orton then cashing in immediately makes him a top heel and garners even more sympathy for bryan, igniting a hot feud that will provide some really great matches for the next few months.

Just a bad habit I suppose. This is the reason I've become less and less active here. My posts hold zero value to 99% of the community and most of the time go un noticed. But if they are noticed they normally are nit picked over grammar or something else equally stupid.

Not blaming anyone here at all. My posts hold no value due to the fact that I've carried myself in such a way that I've almost undermined my own opinions. Since joining I've labeled myself as less knowledgeable than others or eager to hear others opinions. I believe by default that made my own opinions hold less value by most here. To be fair, he started doing the One More Match business right before getting injured, and eventually coming back just to get injured again. So he never really got to finish it. Plus, with his return now obviously building towards this Title Shot, it fit with the angle for him to come back asking for One More Match. Of course, If he keeps it up from this point, it will get stale.
