Recenrlty at a mates house one night, we were having a look ar some old video game magazines from the early ninties - Mean Machines, Super Play etc, and it was a stroll down memory lane.
One of the first things that did grab us was the amount of small independent mail order companies advertising and the price of games. 40 quid!!! Strange cause games nowadays cost round 35-45 so back 20 years ago that must have been a hell of a fortune.
Also, the staff who worked on the magazines seemed to be treated like minor celebrities. There was loads of readers drawings of them, some cartoony, some serious. I can't imagine magazines these days having some reader loyality.
(i do remember in one letters page, somebody asked Julian 'Jazza' Rignal if Nintendo and Sega would ever work together. His responce was 'about the same time God and Satan do.' He was well fucking wrong)
Anyway, anyone else kept their old mags and had a look over them?
