Yeah, I had Hooper both years he was at Scunthorpe and in fact when he was on loan at Hereford in 07/08 and, as you said, I was desperate to get him last season. Obviously it could be a disaster if he goes to Norwich and sits on the bench.

Or he could move to Norwich and form a cracking partnership with RVW whilst putting more of an onus on Stokes at Celtic. Could work out well either way I reckon.

I don't think he's good enough to score regularly in the Premier League, to be honest. There's a few stories tonight that the move to QPR is a done-deal and that's obviously what I'm hoping for.

Christopherson
July 13th, 2013, 7:46 PM
Well it's between two guys and they're both big gambles. Which oddly isn't bothering me too much this year. I nearly always try and play safe the first three rounds and what for? Half the time we drop most of our players by seasons end no matter what round we pick them at.

He wants out but fuck it live dangerously for a change. Colchrister Rovers welcomes want away striker...

Ahahahahahahahha oh man this is already shaping up for disaster mode. Stevie May if he stays at St Johnstone is moving UP a level he hasn't played at and Saurez who hates Liverpool. Good stuff Chris.

Jon Daly was tempting but it is Rangers and Clark will be their main scorer I feel. They can't both get 30 goals, and remember what happened last year to all the Rangers strikers everyone wanked over each other to get. Also he may well play in defence half the time too. But he could just smash it the fuck up. MMH needs to gamble to break into the Top Six, he cant go midtable again. Love Beefy taking a gamble early.

The way im seeing it with Daly is he is an SPL standard player and a good one at that. The other strikers have done well at that level.

Grant Holt was my other option. Could score loads for Wigan, they are signing Adomah to go along with Maloney and McManaman to supply him (assuming they stay) so he could be a great signing.

Because Nicky Clark is a goal machine

I do think Daly will score goals. I just hope the move for Clark isn't too big for him. I think with McCoist knowing his dad etc he'll get time. He destroyed that league last year, he'll do the same again this.

I do think they will be the first choice pairing though.

I've probably made a mistake there, but the whole reason I didn't take Ba as my keeper as well is because of the Rooney to Chelsea rumors. It would have been a bit silly for me to drop Ba and then pick up Rooney. I'll regret not taking him most certainly, but I've got a decent draft record so we will see.

Rooney lasted to 13 because he's going to be out for a few weeks at the start of the season and may leave. Seems pretty 50/50 whether he will or not and if he does it could be to PSG/Monaco/Real. If he stays at United he'll likely have a similar season to last playing second fiddle to RVP. Or if he leaves it could take him time to adjust.

Of course he could score 30 goals but there's much more risk involved with picking him than in any previous year.

Transfer is definitely a risk. Without doubt. Can't see PSG though as they've just bought Cavani and wouldn't think he would go to Monaco yet..
Will no doubt get proven wrong on that.

Injury front I was worried but Moyes said 2-3 weeks yday and he should be involved in pre-season so fingers crossed.

It's definitely worth taking him, no doubt about that. If things go well your two picks there could get 60 odd goals between them.

Alright, I just asked MMH a question and he wasn't too sure, so I said I'd post it here and see what the general consensus is...

Say I wanted to sign a foreign player in hopes that he signs for an English team, could I sign him and have his team as "unattached" and still be able to pick my actual Euro player later on in the draft...? Or if the foreign player didn't sign for an eligible team, would he then be my Euro player?

My thinking is people who aren't in Europe are able to take punts on foreign players, so should those in Europe be allowed to as well?

I think you lot should only be able to take said punts after euro pick.

to me unattached players are ineligible until the point they become active. That's because they aren't eligible in their current state to the person doing the drafting.

also you can just write higuain mate

Wondering if next year and maybe this was Hurleys idea it should be euro or keeper rather than both. Having almost guaranteed 25 goal strikers in round 7 of the draft is stupid

Beefy
July 14th, 2013, 3:40 PM
Hmmmmm I think you need to make sure that you're very clear that the player isn't your Euro pick so if he doesn't move to an eligible league then you're screwed - just like anyone else would be.

So that means that if you pick someone as an unattached player then someone else can pick them as their Euro player.

EDIT - I do tend to agree with sof that you probably shouldn't be able to do it as it's just too big an advantage on top of the normal Euro advantage but to be honest I can't think of a particularly justifiable reason why not.

MMH
July 14th, 2013, 3:40 PM
There is one issue. If another manager takes this player as his Euro player then his pick overrules yours. And then if he goes from a euro to a home based player then he keeps him as a home player but loses the Euro pick.

If they are an eligible player when you draft how can they be considered unattached. By that I mean if they play in an eligible euro league when you have a euro pick surely they're not unattached.

Unless the rule is they can't be converted to a euro player under any circumstance

The "unattached" is there just to distinguish between them being a punt and your actual Euro pick. Like Beefy said it has to be made very clear and that's the best way to do it, I reckon. So I could have "Ibrahimovic (Unattached)" and someone else in Europe could have "Ibrahimovic (PSG)" so it's clear.

I just want to pick my player right now, so I can go to sleep and dream of getting fifth place next year. Grim then do we have lists for Jay, Andy and Mikey?

Jay
July 14th, 2013, 5:58 PM
I'll be around, as I'll more than likely be staying up to watch MITB since I'm off tomorrow. Beefy has a list for Andy and myself, Torn and BBF all have Mikey's pick.

Wondering if next year and maybe this was Hurleys idea it should be euro or keeper rather than both. Having almost guaranteed 25 goal strikers in round 7 of the draft is stupid

Its hard as the whole point is that its a reward for last seasons performance.

Maybe it could be taken within the first three rounds or something?

How about you've got to use your Euro pick in the first two rounds? So it's keeper and Euro pick or First round pick and Euro pick?

Andy only sent me one name. He's online still if he wants to send it to anyone else.

I'm heading to bed shortly but will likely check in every few hours. We're a long way from me anyway.

I'll play it safe. It's too early for risks when McGinn's more than capable of surpassing twenty goals again.

With the third round pick, FC Mighto Molly Hollyhock have agreed a deal with Daddy Cool:

Not even remotely. I thought Rosk would pick up my #2 pick but fortunately he didn't.

I've had to get up out of bed and look at my shortlist now. Did Hurley send anyone a list? If not then I'll put two names together and send them over to someone who will be around the next couple of hours...?

MMH

The Rosk
July 14th, 2013, 7:36 PM
Bony isn't guaranteed goals. Lisbie is. That was the only difference. He was on my next round potentials. Shit loads past year but he could easily do either a Suarez or an Alves. Also, lets all calm down. The draft is usually shit for everyone anyway. And I wanted to stick away from having all Prem players if possible too. Now I just need to find my Glenn Murray star package.

Beefy
July 14th, 2013, 7:38 PM
Swansea create so many chances that they made Danny Graham look like a good striker. Bony will score loads.

I may have been similarly confident about my third round pick last season (Fabio Borini) of course, so clearly I'm a good judge of foreign strikers moving to the Premier League.

Canuck
July 14th, 2013, 7:40 PM

Edin Dzeko (Manchester City)

1. Gary Hooper (Celtic)
2. Anthony Stokes (Celtic)
3. Edin Dzeko (Manchester City)

He's generally been a bad willie but seeing how he's joining Cochrister Rovers he's going to be a.....Goodwillie.

David Goodwillie (Dundee Utd)

Christopherson

Stevie May (Hamilton)
Luis Saurez (Liverpool)

Only problem with him is he's only signed to January on loan but if he hits it off like in the past I'm sure Utd will try and extend him.

Yeah, I did wonder what you were on about when you said to wardy that you have twelve hours so you'll make your pick in ten hours time :D

It's alright though, it can't be helped, like with Dave at the moment. We're way ahead of schedule anyhow so don't worry about it.
