View Full Version : Best and Worst Attire

The attire discussion in the Ramble thread got me thinking of the guys who had the best and worst attire. Both in general and in specific instances. The Best:

-"Macho Man" Randy Savage-Man, how many great outfits did this guy have? The cowboy hats, the big sunglasses, the streamers, everything always looked so good. The gold full-body attire he wore at Wrestlemania VIII stands out to me as a favorite.

-Rey Mysterio-Just always looked really cool. He had misfires with a few of his Wrestlemania outfits, but a lot of those looked really cool too.

-Shawn Michaels-both the tights and the leather pants later in his career. And his entrance attire always looked great. The only misfire I can think of is those tights he wore at Survivor Series 2002. The seriously look like pantyhose.

-Ric Flair-Mainly the robes. His trunks were always pretty standard.

-Steve Austin-black tights, black boots. Perfectly fit a no-frills character who just wanted to whip somebody's ass.

-RVD-his airbrushed singlets always looked so cool. Other than his sweaty ass crack.

Worst:

-John Cena: Seriously, he wears fucking jorts to the ring. The camo and khaki shorts look better, but still not great.

-Dusty Rhodes, WWF version-polka dots. Enough said.

-Faarooq Assad-the nerf gladiator helmet. Nobody was getting over looking like that.

-Triple H-the biking shorts he wore in 2003 when he was hurt. Had he really lost that much leg definition in the space of a few weeks? Or did he need them for support? Either way, it looked really bad.

-Big Daddy V-Suspenders on a 500 pound man. Not cool bro, not cool.

-Rocky Maivia-I don't know what he was supposed to be, but he looked like a fucking goof with those streamers.

It's for support during the groin injury. Orlando Jordan wore the same thing for a few weeks when he had the same injury.

Best:

CM Punk - He's come a long way from basketball shorts with Pepsi logos on 'em. I like the fact that he took the stars of the Chicago flag and adopted them into a full-on motif for his trunks & kickpads. Who could forget the classic Macho Man and Bret Hart tribute tights? Gotta mention the awesome SES mask as well.

Edge - After turning into the Rated R superstar, he adopted some of the absolute best looking tights ever. His camo ones were particularly ace.

Jeff Hardy - The armbands were always cool and I like the blank top with brightly colored belt look he rocked in the WWE.

Lesnar's MMA trunks - fucking AWESOME looking. Add such a sense of badassery to him.

Worst:

Sting - when he's fat. I hate it when dudes wear a T-shirt with tights when wrestling and Sting has a tendency to do this when he's put on weight.

Colt Cabana - Jesus fucking Christ, I don't even know what Colt's thinking with some of those horrendous designs sometimes.

Zack Ryder's latest - They look like straight up JOBBER tights. Horrible.

Those pink panties Damian Sandow used to wear were terrible.

Best:

CM Punk: Always has cool attires esp at PPVs.
HBK 90s: Always colorful and caught your eye.
Bret Hart: Def dug his black and pink gear..even more awesome when he wore a black top/pink tights or pink top/black tights
Daniel Bryan: I've always dug his generic red trunks but his new ones are awesome
Zack Ryder: not now but before he did his back to tights thing. Always colorful and had cool designs.
Cody Rhodes and Antonio Cesaro: Like how they have a old school look but still look awesome.

Worst:
Matt Hardy when he wore tights always looked better with the pants
HBK his chaps/pants look for his latter part of career I know why he had to wear them..but I just didn't dig them. Also his 2002 survivor series attire what a disaster

Did Michaels switch to the leather pants to cover his knee braces? It also definitely helped make Sweet Chin Music sound better-the leather pants make a better sound when you slap them.

Ugh. I hate his fucking attire with the t-shirt so much. He has one of the worst looks ever at the moment, which is a shame because he used to have one of my absolute favorites:

Obviously it wouldn't look the same with his much shorter, very much thinning hair.. but that kind of attire would cover up his midsection up enough that he wouldn't need to wear a damn t-shirt during matches. As shallow as it sounds, I probably would instantly like him a lot more if he did this.

I'd like to throw my vote behind Owen Hart and Koko B. Ware as High Energy. I haven't decided if it's best or worst, yet.

No mention of Goldust yet..?

That's 'cuz mth hasn't chimed in with his picks yet.

Some awesome and more outrageous stuff I dig would be Goldust, Boogeyman, Undertaker's fucking awesome ringcoats the past few years, and I know he was only on TV for two matches but Kizarny/Sinn Bodhi has had some amazingly ridiculous attire.

I like some other stuff that's not so out there, too. Daniel Bryan's got some good attire. I liked Ryback's first batch of singlets with the robotic endoskeleton designs a lot. CM Punk's got cool stuff (particularly liked the GI Joe theme not because I like GI Joe but it just looked rad). Sin Cara Negro looked badass. I really dig AJ's style with the customized t-shirts and Chucks.

As far as worst, most of Zack Ryder's stuff's pretty horrible, Jack Swagger's newer attire is bland, Wade Barrett's trunks are boring, and Rey Mysterio's had some stuff that's just grotesque (thinking of stuff like his recent shirted outfits that made him look like a banana and a bottle of Pepto Bismol as well as some of those WrestleMania bombs).

Kane and Undertaker legit scared the absolute fuck out of me as a kid. Didn't help that Taker had a monster goatee, full tattoo sleeves, those massive gothic coats, a gang of psychopaths with him, and he did that fucking eye roll thing.

Thank you Mr. Sabu. I spent a decade respressing Goldust in neon green and in a single evening you have reminded me what fear really is. I shan't be sleeping this eve.

That neon green outfit's legendary. If you're gonna repress anything, repress Black Reign. Blargh.

I'm so happy VHS mentioned Melina's attire from when she faced Alicia Fox. *Barf* It looked half-finished and she looked like a descendant of Big Bird. ANYWHO ... I am in agreement with pretty much EVERYONE'S selections, so I'll just mention those that I haven't seen, as well as give my critiques on the girls ...

BEST ATTIRE

John Morrison - I really dug his gear, especially towards the end of his WWE run. If we go with overall appearance, I REALLY disliked his hair when he was Johnny Nitro, but loved what he did with it when he became Morrison.

Dolph Ziggler - His t-shirts, his wet-looking shorts, I actually preferred him as a brunette for those couple of weeks he was rocking his updated look before going back to bleach blonde. I think he's got really great attire that matches his personality.

Evan Bourne - I really enjoyed his gear.

Michelle McCool - It always frustrated me, before she hit her stride as a heel and part of Laycool, that she had this amazingly vibrant gear ... but no personality to go with it.

Kurt Angle - He really had some awesome patriotic gear (you paying attention Swagger?), but I really disliked his "solid" attire, like when he wore the singlet that was all red (I think he wore it when he got his head shaved) or when he had the solid black singlet ... I preferred his gear that had all the intricate designs and different combination of colors.

Eve Torres - Awesome gear, awesome hair, I miss this chick being on my TV so much.

Chyna - She had some CRAZY gear that I loved. I enjoyed her all leather, silver studded gear from WrestleMania 2000 the best.

X-Pac - He had some really fun gear ... up until he joined the WWE's version of nWo and started wearing those awful shorts.

Sable - She had some of the sexiest and coolest outfits, even when she wore basic things like a bikini top and kickpads, she knew how to rock it.

Trish Stratus - Had some of the coolest gear. Wasn't a big fan of her gear when she was just starting to be a serious competitor, but she had some of the most memorable attires out of the women.

I've always enjoyed Kane's gear (except for his current attire), Undertaker's, and HBK's (with the exception of those shitty brown tights from '02 and that awful bob haircut, which Chris Jericho also made fun of in his book "Undisputed"). Speaking of ...

Chris Jericho - He is always on-point with his gear.

WORST ATTIRE

Again, I'm pretty much in agreement with all of you. Some people that I didn't see on other lists include ...

"Wildman" Marc Mero/Johnny B. Badd - STOP. JUST. STAHP.

Miss Jackie - I always remember bitching about all the crazy ass, hot mess shit she'd be wearing out to the ring.

Big E. Langston - It looks like they recycled the left over designs from The Nation of Domination. They couldn't design something really cool for him?

Bobby Lashley - They were pushing him hardcore, but he had such simple, basic gear.

Bull Buchanan as B2 - Remember when Bull was Cena's lackey? Yeah, I wish I could forget too. So damn laughable.

Mickie James - She had some fun attires, but sometimes the colors and mish-mash of patterns would give me a seizure.

Tori - That airbrushed catsuit at WrestleMania 15. WHY!?!?!?

Jimmy Hart always had fantastic jackets custom made to match who he was managing at the time. Some great artwork on them.

Cool article over on dotcom all about "themed" outfits. I like how I never noticed any of Kofi's, but most of em are pretty damn cool. Love that Punk AND Mysterio both were themed outfits when wrestling at mania, lol.
