As far as I'm concerned, Eddie Guerrero winning the WWE Championship is the greatest moment in WWE history. The history behind it, and the slow growth all the way to the title match in addition to overcoming all of those demons and problems he had. And to have it come at the end of an incredible match that nobody expected him to win, was just incredible.

I don't think I could ever pick one - even if I was limiting it to WWE moments.

But Eddie's title win is probably my favourite title win of all.

Shawn Michaels "Boyhood Dream"/ Wrestlemania 12

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9-eqStFXVw

Shawn Michaels was, is and always will be my favorite wrestler.....By Far!!

Growing up he was "My 1st Guy" I watched him wrestle in the rockers where he originally caught my eye. I was blown away at the things they were doing in the ring. I remember feeling a sence of awe while watching them. And not to mention my father said to me "These guys are going to be something someday" so I latched on to him for those 2 reasons. My dad was and still is my role model and I believed everything he said. It was like my dad putting the stamp of approval on something I already thought was impressive.

Being a Shawn Michaels fan wasn't always easy. Being a male and enjoying "The Sexy Boy" wasn't always the most popular choice. I was often made fun of or questioned why he was my Favorite. But I always was prepared to back up my main man "HBK". he was revolutionary, he was charismatic, he was exciting to watch and he gave it everything he had!! I couldn't understand how people didn't enjoy him and what he was doing. I knew he was the single most talented guy on the roster and hated that often times I was alone in that thought.

When Michaels finally Won the WWF Championship it was a special moment for me. I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. It was AWESOME!! And not to mention it was Validation for HBK and everything he worked so hard to accomplish. And not for nothing but IMO the 60 Iron Man Match is IMO the very best match in WWE/F History. It was the perfect moment. Michaels winning his 1st Championship on the biggest stage of them all against the best wrestler on the roster besides himself and putting on the greatest match of all time.

Yeah easy choice. this is my Fav Wrestling moment!!

Was the moment I realised I loved wrestling and Bret Hart. From that moment on I've been hooked. Its my first wrestling memory, my favourite memory and by far (probably seen it about 50 times now) my most watched match.

I will never tire of watching this moment.

To set the scene for those who dont know, The Honky Tonk Man was the reigning Intercontinental champion for 15 months, still a record to this day, and he based his whole run of being a lucky wrestler who constantly avoided defeated by chickening out of situations or getting lucky wins.

After a few months of build up it was Brutus the Barber Beefcakes turn to challenge HTM at Summerslam 88. Many thought this would be the moment HTM would finally lose his title as Beefcake was a big star at the time. Unfortunately a week before the event Beefcake was attacked by Outlaw Ron Bass with a set of spurs, an attack so brutal that the fed turned the footage black and white and plastered a huge censored sign over it.

So HTM looks like escaping again as he didnt have an opponent for the evening. After goading anybody to come from the back and take him on out runs WWF's newest star the Ultimate Warrior who then proceeds to destroy him and win the title in under a minute.

It was just perfect, a record breaking run just ended out of the blue to a massive pop. Im not even a Warrior fan, never have been, but the moment was special.

Kurt Angle's debut in TNA Wrestling.

The reason I choose this is because I was there for it live. I have never heard a more polarizing moment before. Joe, who was completely over with the crowd, was cheered from the moment he came out, but then, out of nowhere, Angle's must hits, and he comes out, and the crowd is deafening with cheers. He gets into the ring, they stand toe to toe, and Angle nails him, and the crowd gets even louder.

The crowd loved it, but then, as soon as Joe stood up, and was behind Angle, the crowd, in half a second, was cheering for Joe just as loudly as they were for Angle. I've never seen anything like it before in all the years I've watched wrestling.

It was such a cool experience.

The reason this was a pivotal moment for me in wrestling history is because up until that point, I always cheered for the good guy.. but HBK was one of my favorites and I just never had the connection to Marty at all.. so when this happened, it excited me. It made me realize that I liked seeing the bad guy win. I liked it a lot. From there on, I've pretty much always cheered for the heels for the most part.

And since Chris Jericho became my favorite wrestler ever.. I have to include this because everytime he won a world title, I was always going crazy...

It probably won't go down in history like some other moments, but as a live experience, for one of my favourites, it was phenomenal.

It was the finest bit of pure soap opera that WWE has ever done. Linda rising from her chair to get revenge on her disgusting husband was amazing. The match itself was a tremendous conclusion to several angles. Trish slaps Vince after the way he had treated her and chases off Stephanie. Linda hits Vince where it hurts. Foley gets to pummel Vince as revenge for being fired. And Shane defeats him after stealing WCW from under his nose. It was the perfect comeuppance for one of the best villains in WWE history. The McMahons as a collective were never as interesting as this again.

The ending to Wrestlemania 20.

People can argue the toss over how they feel about it now. At the time, with two of the greatest wrestlers to have ever lived, the best of friends, tears streaming down their faces, celebrating in the middle of the ring in front of a deafening MSG crowd as ticker tape falls all around them; it was lump in throat, goosebump inducing stuff.

A close second is when the Undertaker kicked out of the Sweet Chin Music followed by the Pedigree in his rematch with HHH in Hell in a Cell at Wrestlemania 28. They made me believe it was over, the streak had gone, and when he kicked out I have never felt such pure relief and joy while watching a match.

"Tyson and Austin! Tyson and Austin!"

That was a moment in time. Right guys, right place, right time. Tyson, Austin, and McMahon all in the same ring. They really changed wrestling right there. Less than two months later Raw beat Nitro in the rating battle for the first time in almost two years, and that was what started it. Tyson was still huge at that point, a much bigger star than Floyd Mayweather has ever been. He might have been a shell of himself as a boxer, but he was still a superstar. Steve Austin wasn't the man yet, but it was very clear he was about to be. He was the hottest thing in wrestling at that moment. And in between them you have Vince McMahon, one of wrestling's all-time great heels. He hadn't truly become Mr. McMahon yet, but the signs were all there.

Then Tyson shoves Austin and shit hits the fan.

They don't get to go at it because there are like 100 other people in the ring to break it up. But it feels like the kind of fight you've seen at boxing weigh-ins. Maybe those are worked too, but they feel real when they happen. Austin gets dragged from the ring and McMahon goes after him. Vince McMahon, the formerly mild-mannered announcer turned bad boss. He wants a piece of Austin. Holy shit, were the sparks flying there. I was a relatively new wrestling fan in early 1998, but this was the moment that truly made me fall in love.

It's no great secret that CM Punk is my favorite wrestler ever. Up until this point he was ONE OF my favorites, but he still wasn't as great as Austin in my mind. I'd watched this guy go from wearing basketball shorts, to using a weird judo warm-up, cash in MITB, turn heel, lead 2 amazing stables and yet, he just couldn't ever break through into the category of "the man". THIS moment... this beautiful, amazing moment was where CM Punk broke the barrier. He went from just being the best heel in the company to being the best entertainer in the entire industry. The next month or so was some of the best, most exciting television that WWE has ever put on. While the aftermath was crappy, nothing will ever make this moment any less amazing.

The best part? I fell asleep the night this was on. I was so bored by RAW that I couldn't keep my eyes awake. When I saw this the next morning, I must have watched it 10 times straight.

Yep that's what I was about to post.

Back in the day there were plenty of moments where you truly suspended disbelief (Foley winning the title was really up there, Hogan slamming Andre, Savage winning the title, HBK winning at WM12), but as you grow up you become a little more savvy and it gets harder to put aside what you know about the business.

But this promo, oh my god. It truly had me believing that it was real. That he'd just gone "fuck it, I need to say this" and the 'E just kinda rolled with it. The whole storyline was 100% believable - it was not beyond belief that Punk could just up and leave out of frustration. Then the match at MITB. The pop when his music hit. The heat for Cena. The match itself. Amazing stuff. I was so into the storyline that smarky-me thought "Well clearly Cena's winning" and the on the 3 count it was one of those moments again - "holy crap this is actually happening! He's taking the belt and leaving!" Sure, moments later I was back in the real world. But jeez that made me feel like a kid again.

Both of mine too actually.

The Foley one has dual meanings for me. At the time I was pretty much a mark sitting watching it, hated the Rock, hated the Coorporation and loved Mankind. I remember taping Raw on the Friday night and watching it on the saturday morning then pretty much celebrating through the house when he won it, telling anyone who would listen (and ultimately didn't care). Watching it back now, it loses nothing. The match is fucking shit, but from the moment Billy Gunn jumps in the ring, the schmozz, glass breaks - the most insane pop I have ever ever heard in wrestling - chair shot, 1-2-3, crowd goes fucking apeshit, its treated like the biggest deal ever. Loved it so much.

The Punk one was so good because they dangled every other possible ending in front of us, so the Cena hater anger could bubble up - then gave us the greatest payoff of all. They teased Cena winning clean, then McMahon coming out, then Punk getting caught in the STF, then a screwjob. Even after he'd won, they teased the Del Rio cash in - Kick to the head and off Punk went. Obviously the crowd were insane too and the full 30 minutes of the match was brilliant. Also the video package before the match is one my favourites of all time.

Infact, if I were to give a total stanger to wrestling one hour of WWE Programming to say - 'this is as good as wrestling gets' it would be the final hour of MITB 2011.

Also, HHHs return in 2002 is up there for me too.

If I had to pick a 2nd moment it would have to be HHH return in 2002. At this point I wasn't watching wrestling regularly. But this injury and build up had me tunning in week after week anticipating my 2nd favorite wrestlers return. I remember feeling like HHH was a beast. in the promo where he said all he could think about was how long it would be before he could return while walking up the ramp after tearing his quad made me a fan forever! And also got me reinvested in wrestling again for a brief period of time.

All of this. Nothing will touch watching Hogan defeat Andre as a kid. They just can't build that kind of magic anymore and even if they could I'm probably too old for it to be the same. It's almost impossible to understand how different things were back then if you're not old enough to remember. Today we'd assume Hogan, recognized as the company's golden boy, was going to go over but back then it seemed improbable. Particularly to a young boy. It was massive and the moment that really cemented me as a wrestling fan for the next 20+ years.

Benoit was close. It would probably be a virtual tie if not for what followed. I absolutely loved Benoit at that time. :nono:

I was trying to think of my favourite moment that isn't usually brought up when this sort of thing is discussed. First two things I thought of involve Batista actually. The heel turn on Rey in '09 and the face turn on Trips in '05. The heel turn is up there with the best turns ever. Brutal.

Two more favourites: The Brock/Cena brawl on Raw last year and the initial Big Show/Mayweather confrontation at No Way Out 2008. Two epic segments. The latter particularly just felt so real and dramatic - the surprise return, the fact that Mayweather had only been fleetingly mentioned, the moment he spotted Rey limping on the outside, Mayweather's entourage running all over the place like mad men, Shane O'Mac running out.

Batista turned out to be a surprisingly great heel. For a guy who was so over as a babyface, he actually managed to get legit heat from the crowd. They did a good job booking/writing for him too. The promo where he came out to explain himself and ended up just walking away without saying anything was a particular highlight. Too bad he didn't stick around for longer after he turned. Also too bad he didn't turn sooner, as he had gotten really stale as a face.

That was my selfish reasoning behind it!! Muhahaha!!

This is probably more of a moment for me than a lot of people. I've always been a big fan of Christian. I loved him and Edge, I loved his singles runs, I was devastated when he left for TNA. I thought he was great in TNA and a bright spot in that promotion during his time there. I was ecstatic when he came back in 2009. And I really marked out when he became world champion at Extreme Rules 2011. Fighting for his fallen friend Edge, he achieved his dream. Few guys ever worked harder to win a world title or deserved it more. And I really like his entrance music, especially for a moment like that.

One drawback: The announcers. Cole went on way too long. That definitely feels like a moment where Jesse Ventura would have shut up and let the babyface announcers celebrate. And Booker was an absolutely horrible announcer. For him, that was a relatively good job. But man, did he ever suck.

Also, I thought it was Diesel come back to help Christian at first.

That moment with Christain winning the big one sent chills down my spine. So many things I've missed. I will never stop watching wrestling again!!

How Epic!

Fucking wish I was watching during Punks Rise to the top and Championship reign. The single biggest regret I have from not watching wrestling for over 10 years.

In all honestly you didn't miss a huge amount. The run from the shoot promo to Summerslam was awesome, then it just got weird. The Kevin Nash stuff, the mystery texts, the Del Rio run which was so out of place. It just lost so much momentum. Even though it lost momentum they still had great bits of TV with everyone questioning Trips as an authority figure and The Awesome Truth kicking around, but that didn't help Punk at all. Especially when Rock came back at the end of the year and Cena headlined every event until Royal Rumble 2013 or something.

Punk's run from Survivor Series 2011 to RAW1000 was pretty forgettable in all honestly. There were some great matches in there but the character lost it's edge. From RAW1000 to now has been brilliant for Punk though.

Everything about this reveal was perfect; everything. From Foley's promo to HHH's reactions to the fans. That's how you do a reveal.

Well that makes me feel better.

Raw 1,000 was the 1st time I watched an entire Raw in over a decade and was the starting point for my return to viewing wrestling. When I got back in to it I youtubed most of punks best moments of 2011 & 2012. Got a pretty good Idea of what was going on. It looked like a fantastic run from the highlights but that's prolly because it highlighted the best moments.

Yep awesome moment, only thing that spoiled it slightly was WWE announcing that a former champion would be returning at the PPV, and most people had guessed it would be Show.

Yeah I didnt really see the point of that either.

Oh and people who say Big Show is crap can sod right off. When used correctly he can be fantastic.

Yeh, Big Show is awesome, though I definately prefer him in the monster role as opposed to the smiley fun loving Show, Having said that.

And it's true what they say, you don't quite realize how big he is until you see him in person :scared:

Austin passes out in Bret Hart's Sharpshooter, WM 13.

I'm shocked this wasn't mentioned yet, at least I don't think I missed it already listed. The match itself is my favorite of all time, but the finish is about as perfect as possible given the storyline and aftermath, with perfect execution of the intended double turn of Bret and Austin. It's arguably Austin's defining moment (depending on where you place it against the KOTR promo) and one of the most iconic images in WWF history.

The finish starts around 25:45.

Hogan slamming Andre at Mania III and the Austin/Hart double-turn at Mania XIII would rank very highly for me too. And it's kind of obscure, but I always loved when Goldberg won the US title from Raven on Nitro.

There was a great moment on Raw in 2001 during the Invasion angle where there was about 20 different run ins at the end of the main event. I think it ended with Austin giving a Stunner to Angle but I'm not sure. Anyone got a video? I can't find it.

There was an enormous finisher-fest on the last Smackdown before Survivor Series 2001, if that's the one you mean.

I can't find it, but it's probably when Marty Jannetty returned to get revenge on Shawn Michaels. I adored him when I was a kid and loathed Michaels for what he did. Even as an adult I sort of struggled to forgive him

Other than that, has to be Austin's return at Backlash 2000.

This is amazing too. Austin is retired and everyone just wants him to fight. Goldberg was barely there for the build up, so Austin stepped in and culminated in this. I love everything about it, the parting of the roster, Big Show telling Austin to go get him and the fight

This was the first ppv I'd ever seen, a few years after it happened. I didn't know anybody involved and I was watching it with my Mom who wasn't particularly a fan. I jumped up and down when Liz jump the rail and I swear my Mom had a tear in here eye, magical stuff.
