Certainly changes over time but the lasting ones for my friends have been, and these are just the first quotes that came to mind for each of them:

Family Guy - "Let's go drink 'til we can't feel feelings."
Always Sunny - "Well that wasn't very Thundergun of you."
The Big Lebowski - "I'm calmer than you are."
Grandma's Boy - "Never throw a bong, kid. Ever."
The Simpsons - "Alcohol: the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems."

I guess we don't really quote too many non-comedies.

u?

Soccer Saturday - "Unbelievable, Jeff"

Now forms part of my everyday speech and often get odd looks from people (i.e. everyone) who hears me say it.

Varies from month to month. The Dictator is flavour of the month, with "Aladeen" replacing adjectives where appropriate.

Simpsons happens a lot, but that's a given.

My boss says "That's what she said" all the time.

Seinfeld and The Simpsons have shaped how my circle of friends speak dramatically.

Not just in terms of quoting, but word choice and timing also.

I don't think we quite realise the cultural impact those two shows have had.

The same thing can be said in regards to the generation below ours and Judd Apatow's particular comedic sensibility. He (along with his crew, Seth Rogen etc) are really shaping how people speak when they are "being funny".

Same.

For me it's Alan Partridge and Peep Show. Probably a bit of Simpsons too.

I'd say that I probably quote Alan Partridge or Anchorman pretty much every day.

Alan Partridge. Constantly. Which is really awkward when people don't get it. But at the same time, those people are not worth knowing.

Partridge quotes are just a normal part of life. On the rare occasion someone doesn't understand, they are immediately ostracised from all social circles.

Peep Show quotes were a thing at school.

Curb gets a fair bit of coverage but less people seem to know them.

I quote Withnail all the time as well. That's probably just me.

Same.

It's acceptable for you though seeing as it's readily watchable and I assume a pretty well known show. Here though, explaining it as "Oh, it's something Chris Kamara says on Soccer Saturday" gets me a lot of :wtf: looks.

From reading this thread, I probably need to find out who Alan Partridge is as well :chin:

Yeah, Partridge and Anchorman would be my main ones. Father Ted would also be up there.

The Simpsons for sure. I don’t even realize I’m doing it anymore.
Anchorman
Old School
American Pie (you don’t score until you score is used a lot on my softball team)
Dazed and Confused
The Naked Gun
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Happy Gilmore

Many of these are situational but used almost every time the situation arises (golfing for Happy Gilmore for example).
