ASYLUM INMATES CONFERENCE

By god, you've done it! Endless tinkering around in your garage has yielded an actual working time machine! And coincidentally, you start your job as WWE's Head of Talent tomorrow! Your life has become awash with wild coincidences for the purposes of this debate! So now that you have the ability to travel back in time whenever you want, and the ability to sign anyone you want to a WWE contract, the obvious question is...

WHAT RETIRED WRESTLER (IN THEIR PRIME) WOULD CONTRIBUTE THE MOST TO MODERN DAY WWE?

As a reminder, the rules are as follows. If you break a rule, there will be no excuses taken, so read them carefully. Each debate will have a 72 hour time limit, a 350 word word limit. Videos and pictures are not only allowed, they're downright encouraged.

Also, to finally address the issue of the first one to go or the second having the advantage, a coin will be flipped by me in advance to determine who goes first or second. Completely fair odds for everyone.

If you have any questions about the question you are given, or about how to proceed, please direct them to me BEFORE you post about them, to avoid troubles.

You must wait your turn to post, meaning that you can't rattle off all three right from the get go, you have to post in turns with your opponent and, this is very fucking important, IF YOU GET THE COIN TOSS TO GO SECOND, YOUR INTRODUCTION POST CAN NOT BE A RESPONSE TO THE OTHER GUY'S INTRODUCTION POST.

You must wait until your second post to begin debating what the other person has said. This is the only way to make this fair, it is not up for debate, and I will penalize your asses. So be fucking told.

Your judges are former Wilfred's champions Badger and the_man_diva.

The coin toss dictates that RIP will go first.

Difficult question?

Not really.

While there is a temptation to go wayback, or look to my memories of great British wrestlers who never got a shot the answer is both closer to home and simply put, more obvious.

The man who holds the record for PWI matches of the year, the first ever WWE Grand Slam Champion, the greatest storyteller ever to grace a ring.

In a roster with potential we need the perfect foil for the likes of Ziggler, Sandow, Cena, Punk and Ryback, we need someone who raises the game of those around him.

Someone who produces magic matches, someone who understands the business, and the need to polish and support your opponent to make a better product.

I looked for some career highlights for this man and I think I broke Google, the sheer volume is simply awsome, both in and out of the ring this person not only delivers, but brings out the best in those he feuds with, he is comfortable showing emotion, he delivers comedy and drama with equal aplomb, pushing the boundaries whilst maintaining a connection.

The current roster is potentially strong, but the rising stars are desperate for someone to pull them to the next level, matches and feuds are failing because simple skills are missing, those that are often learned from a top tier opponent who has the ability to bring out the best in whoever he faces, someone who can fight big men and small pulling off a battle with Ryback or Show and a skilled dance with Bryan, someone who is capable of matching wit with someone like Punk, someone who cold act as a foil to a manic Ambrose, a white hat Cena and a cold driven Punk with equal skill.

One man can do that, one man who many would argue could STILL do that, the greatest living wrestler, Mr Wrestlemania, Mr Hall of Fame, the man Rick Flair chose to retire to...

Imagine him at his brilliant, dazzling, strutting, magnificent best oozing charisma as he re-claims his glory days.

One man...

HBK...

Shawn Micheals.

"And I know. I building a time machine. To change the way things are and everything we've seen."

The question here is isn't who.

The answer here is.....

What?

When asking what star in his prime, who is retired, that could contribute most to the WWE...there is only one answer. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. There is not a man alive or dead, past or present, that personifies what the WWE has been about and is about over the last 20 years other than Stone Cold. In and out the ring Steve Austin has produced magic, helped build future stars and has opened that much needed can of whoop ass time and time again. He revolutionized the business, more or less over night, with one magical promo that made a brutal heel into an unlikely fan favorite and made an iconic slogan that is still relevant to this day.

A man that builds his aura like Austin can not only bring the fans of the past, present and future together, but he can also build the stars of tomorrow. Imagine, if Stone Cold, in his prime, was to be beaten by a man like....hmmm....Dolph Ziggler. Imagine what that would do for Ziggs. I remember another man who could be compared to Ziggler, by in ring ability alone, that Stone Cold helped make into a bonafide star.

The bottom line to all of this is that Stone Cold has that IT factor. From his days in WCW, where he, showed the spark of what was to come...

to ECW where Stone Cold was very much born

Stone Cold is the magic that is, that was, and will forever will be. No one has touched the level of Austin. In fact, only two men can even remotely compare to what Austin has done and those two are the Rock and a man whose nickname starts with an H. Of course that man is Hulk Hogan.

Austin, in his prime, could easily bring the WWE back to its heyday and be the rejuvenation that the WWE and the fans need.
