Telltale(makers of last years The Walking Dead) is currently in production of their new game. Like last year's critically lauded game, The Wolf Among Us is based on a popular comic series Fables. Telltale couldn't use the actual name Fables, due to copyrights with the X-box exclusive game Fable.

For those not familiar with the Fables comic series...

wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_(comics))

Fables is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York.

The main character will be Bigby Wolf(the Big Bad Wolf reformed and in human form), and he is the sheriff tracking down crimes. He will even interrogate characters of his own past. You will see many characters you're familiar with in likes of, Snow White, Prince Charming, Ole King Cole, Beauty and Beast. There will be many characters that you might not be so familiar with, or can't quite place including Rose Red(White's sister), Buffkin(one of OZ's flying monkeys), and Frau Totenkinder(witch of Hansel and Gretel fame).

Ugh. I'm in full-on "Fairy tales can fuck right off" mode.

Ugh. I'm in full-on "Fairy tales can fuck right off" mode.

I hear you, but after playing The Walking Dead I want to see what they do. I was emotionally invested in the world, and characters they set up in TWD. Only a smattering of characters from the comics cameoed, and it would have been just as great had they not been there. I like the way Telltale told a story. :shifty: Yea I just said that. I want to play another of their games.

Back to the Future was fun, but there was just some spark that wasn't there to make it a great game. I'm hoping that TWD showed that they found the right formula, and that it wasn't a flash in the pan situation.

I finally settled down to play the first chapter of this, and I am ready for the release of the second chapter. You have control of Sherif Bigby. You are called to a disturbance at Mr Toad's apartment complex. Upon getting there a familiar face is slapping around a woman.

This takes the same system from The Walking Dead game, and puts it into the context of a detective mystery. You look at clues, and make contextual decisions based on them. Just like TWD your decisions shape the game you play. Being nice to certain characters might have them providing more help along the way, or they might end up as a thorn in your side if you shun them.

If you enjoyed The Walking Dead, point-and-click adventure games, or the Fables comic series you should definitely pick this up.
