I went along to the Wrestlemania Revenge house show here in Belfast last week. Fun night as usual, slightly marred by a massive gang of blokes in front who were drunk when they arrived and got progressively worse as the show went on. Cena and Ryback had a tables match in the main event, and Regal got on the mic twice. He thanked Finlay, who was sitting in the crowd, and both men got a nice pop.

I think the highlight for me from all the shows I've been to over the years is definitely Cena vs HHH. Incredible atmosphere and crowd noise, for such a small arena. It felt like a huge deal and was actually a very good match, compared to other shows where the matches tend to be average at best. Angle/Benoit vs Los Guerreros would be another match which really stands out. I also got to see Brock Lesnar vs Edge, which was good for the sheer novelty value.

I can only speak about crappy house shows, so I'm sure the American and Canadian posters have been in attendance for some big moments on Raw, Smackdown or PPV. I'd still love to see a Wrestlemania some day. So what have been your best (or worst) moments at live shows? Feel free to share any pics you've taken.

The only live WWE event was back when it was WWF and it was a house show. Shawn and HHH were doing the original DX thing, Kane had debuted relatively recently, Ken Shamrock was still around, and the Nation of Domination were some of the most hated guys in the company.

All I remember about the show I went to was my whole section chanting, "you suck!" at Shawn, so he mooned us. No pics.

Before the other week I hadn't been to a WWE event in over 10 years. Wrestlemania was an amazing spectacle and definitely one to cross off the bucket list. Raw the next night was just on another level though. I think everything that can be said about that episode of Raw has been, but I just can't describe how amazing it was to be there. We got there around 90 minutes before the doors opened and there was already a party atmosphere. Yes chants, duelling Cena chants, feed me more chants etc. You could tell from then that the crowd would be hot. And even then when Raw actually went on air it was beyond anything I expected.

Fun is probably the way I'd describe it in a word. The chants, the quality of the product, the friendliness of everyone there, the fact that 90% of the crowd had the same ideas for chants, the same views on the product. It generated such a buzz and despite nobody liking Cena's character, he was the perfect guy to come out and kick it all off. It got better and better as it went on and by the time Fandango came out, everyone was in such a good mood that everyone started humming the theme. And it only took a few seconds for everyone to catch on and then it broke out into song. Such a great feeling to be part of the crowd that started something like that and part of a crowd that will be remembered for so long.

Chris, in the WWE:NXT thread I post detailed descriptions along with many pics of when I go there. A lot of people tend to enjoy them. You'd like them, if that's what you're looking for here.

GREAT pics BTW. Front Row FTW.

THIS page in the NXT thread has my most recent show. March 27th NXT House Show. If you're willing to go back in the thread, I have detailed descriptions with pics like that for every single time I've gone.

https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?138851-The-WWE-NXT-thread&p=7098520#post7098520

And the one from before that. It starts with the last post on this page...
https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?138851-The-WWE-NXT-thread/page580
And continues onto the next page.

I've done about 5-6 of these reports in total so far though if you wanna go back and look for them. They're worth it, if it's descriptions of live experiences you want.

Well I went to the Raw show in Nottingham Tuesday, had a good time, all matches were decent to good, the best being Hell No vs Ziggler and Big E and Ryder vs Cesaro (was caught off guard by Ryder winning :p) , also had a little birthday celebration for Cena after the show :D. Also worth noting that Ryback and Cena have decent chemistry and should be able to put on a good main event match at extreme rules.

Been to various other house shows since 2002 in Sheffield,Birmingham and Nottingham, highlights that come to mind are Benoit vs HHH in 04, Taker's entrance live also in 04, seeing Brock Lesnar kick ass on a couple of occasions, Regal vs Bryan in a pretty epic match in 2010, oh and people looking at me like I was mad because I was possibly the only person cheering for JBL back in the day

Also went to a show International showdown in 2005 in Coventry, basically a independent show that was bought out on dvd organised by the short live Wrestling Channel over here. The card for that was pretty awesome:
Match 1: A four corners match, Petey Williams v Chris Sabin v Johnny Storm v Spud
Match 2: World of Sport Match: Steve Grey v Mal Sanders.
Apters Alley with Alex Shane and Mick Foley
Match 3: Samoa Joe v CM Punk.
Match 4: Doug Williams, James Tighe and Scorpio v Mitsuhara Misawa, Tiger Emperor and Yoshinari Ogawa.
Match 5: Raven’s Rules match: Alex Shane v Raven.
Match 6: TNA X-Division Title Match: AJ Styles v Christopher Daniels.

I bet Defrost would of wanked himself silly over match 4 on that list ;)

Been to 5 shows now. 2 as a child: RAW & house show and 3 as an adult: 2 SD tapings & Mania 29

I don't remember a thing from the ones as a kid, but in my adult experiences, SD tapings are fairly quiet to sit through. The good thing, though, is that you'd get about 4 hours of action when they'd tape superstars and ECW before Smackers. Some "moments" I've seen live at SD tapings:

Punk debuts Luke Gallows
Eric Escobar gets dumped (fired later that week, I believe)

...that's it, really.

Mania 29 was a great experience. All the tailgating and debauchery in the parking lot made me feel like I was at a concert, not a wrestling event. Loads of people were drunk before the show even started and the guy sitting next to me actualy passed out standing up, so I held him up, since I was on my feet for whatever match or performance was on at the time. Got into lots of arguments over who should win what match and had a 20-1 vs 21-0 shouting match with some kids.

April 25th, 2013, 1:22 PM
In the Ryback vs Cena main event I saw last week, there were three guys behind me that just kept shouting "Feed me more!", "Stupid!" and "Finish it!". It absolutely infuriated the kids in front who were cheering for Cena.

It's always interesting to see the families that attend these shows. I remember going to a house show years ago which had Brock Lesnar vs Big Show. There was a father who clearly didn't think much of wrestling, and kept telling his poor son throughout the show how fake the whole thing was. He was really going on about how Lesnar couldn't lift Show up in a million years, and how Show was throwing himself to make the suplexes look good. I loved it when he shut up right after Brock scooped up Show and flattened him with an F5.

The best part of live wrestling for me right now is my son, he's so into the whole scene it's refreshing to me, and his interaction with the wrestlers is fantastic as well, often it really shows what they're like.

Couple of examples, he met Christian and the guy was fantastic, knelt down to talk to my boy, gave him a huge hug and talked to him about Edge as well, Edge was the same loads of time for the fans picked James out of the crowd signed his shirt pinched his sunglasses, just a great guy. Rey is a twat, he was sitting outside on his phone (without his mask), James waited till he'd hung up then asked him for an autograph, Rey totally blanked him. Del Rio is cool, James wouldn't let him sign his shirt because he wasn't 'cool' and Del Rio (heel at the time) had great fun with it and played it brilliantly.

Chris
April 25th, 2013, 1:44 PM
Yeah, it's great when the wrestlers take the time to talk to the young ones. I had a similar experience with my younger cousin. Shawn Michaels is a good bloke when it comes to kids.

It made me cringe the other week when some drunken idiots were spouting some of the offensive language I'd ever heard in front of a group of kids. I wish the security guards had more balls - they were very quick to chase kids away from ringside, but not so keen on having a chat with guys who were spilling drinks over people, standing up on on their chairs for 10 minutes and nearly starting fights.

That's what I like to hear. Been telling people Rey is a prick for years. :)

In all seriousness I've heard plenty of stories about Christian being a miserable bastard and Del Rio had a reputation for being an egotistical twat backstage whilst Rey is supposedly a lovely guy with all the kids. Just shows you that it's probably not a good idea to judge public figures based on one brief interaction.

I've been to one WWE show - Summerslam 2008. It was on a bit of a whim as we were near Indianapolis at the time. Pretty good show (Edge/Taker HIAC, Cena/Batista) but our seats were shit and there were plenty of grumpy oddballs around us. Best part was before the show as the wrestlers were driving into the parking area. A few leant out of their cars to sign autographs, some (MVP and Cena if I remember correctly - definitely Jeff Hardy) actually got out and chatted. Some ignored everyone and drove straight through (Orton I think - but many of them were less well known and people probably weren't too bothered about meeting them anyway). Jeff particularly got a Bieber-esque response from the young girls there. Screaming, hysterics, etc.

Christian was the first guy there, he was out to try and walk off the journey basically, James was behind a barrier watching him in awe (Christian has always been his favourite) he waved him over when he saw him and was just totally at ease and natural chatting to him, he talked about Edge and Foley (the other two people allowed to sign his favourite RAW shirt) gave him a couple of huge hugs and just seems a really nice guy, the same with Del Rio, James was talking to the kid next to him about his shirt (he'd been offered £50 for it, so to James it was HUGE news) Del Rio asked to see the shirt so James showed him it, 'So where do you want the greatest Mexican wrestler in the world to sign?' James looked him up and down and said 'You can't you're not cool enough' the couple of people near us cracked, Rodriguez nearly p*ssed himself and Del Rio had a proper two year old temper tantrum which James found fantastic, he signed his other shirt and said to me that James was the kind of fan he loves, just came across as a nice guy.

When he got his picture taken with the belt Cody asked him for a title match, James growled at him and Cody did a brilliant pantomime scared face and ran off

When I went to that Ryback signing the other day, he was polite, asked hpw everyone was etc (as did Kaitlyn) but at the show itself I heard this bloke saying what a prick he was, I think he wasnt bearing in mind that there was a huge queue and he probably didnt have the time to have a 5 minute chat with everyone, but as I said polite and friendly enough, so that was enough for me.

We've been pretty lucky overall but at the end of the day I think these guys (especially the faces) have to be aware of how they come across all the time, one of the reasons for the Cena phenomenon is his professionalism and his ability to keep his fans happy, he's excellent at making eye contact with the kids and drawing them in, little things make huge impact.

I have been to at least over a dozen WWF/E Shows. I didn't have the chance to start going until the Royal Rumble in 2002,Wrestlemania 27,Backlash 2007,Armageddon 2004,Hell In A Cell 2012. Also have been to numerous RAWs,a couple Smackdowns, and one House Show. I might be making the trek for Money In The Bank this year and am hoping to do the same for Wrestlemania 30 next year.

Id also like to cross off a Summerslam and Survivor Series on my list some day soon.

Also, Met The Miz & DiBiase Jr. before the show. And when Zeb got out of his car, people were cheering for him, and he was yappin' back and forth with people and he went to open his trunk and acted like it smacked him in the face on it's way up. Was hilarious.

MIZ and SHEAMUS took over a half an hour to go around the entire perimeter of that parking lot and sign as many autographs/take as many pics as possible. And they seemed happy to do it. Great guys.

The Axel pic is such a good shot. I think the best of the bunch. The Ziggler/Cesaro struggle pic is awesome, too, though could be taken wrong out of context.

Also, that Ziggler/Cesaro match sounds/looks pretty awesome. I hope we get something like that on TV. Ziggler winning the belt back from Del Rio and Cesaro becoming one of his next challengers. I like that. It would get both guys over well.

Thank you. I think the Orton one on the buckle's a bit better, but the Axel one's good too. I have a lot more pics but those were the ones I HAD to share. ha. Oh man, don't get my hopes up that we'll see that match over the World Title. It totally should be. They seriously had a 20 minute ridiculously good PPV match for absolutely no reason at this House Show.

Thank you. Awesome seats, though I'm spoiled by NXT. I spent 4 times as much on that 4th row seat here than I spend on front row for NXT, and NXT has a good chunk of the same stars at the TV Tapings.

Its about a 2.5 hour drive for me on a Sunday Night and I really dont know who I would go with. My gf has said she will go but shes not into wrestling, just is supportive of my enjoyment of it. Also I am saving for a Vegas trip and I would sota feel guilty if I drop money on this and not into the Vegas fund. Though I did see Ziggler is advertised.

I've only been lucky enough to watch WWE live once, in June or July of 2003.

It wasn't a great card advertised by any means, but I was just there for the experience.

The advertised main event was Kevin Nash (w/ Shawn Michaels) vs HHH (w/ Ric Flair).

Nash and Trips both sustained mild injuries in the show a couple of days beforehand, so as a result, the main event was changed to HBK vs Flair.

It was fucking amazing.
