Now, this is veeeerrry interesting.

It's well worth watching the video.

On the surface it sounds daft, but I can see this being massive, and massivley addictive.

What's in the bloody middle lads?

It's a Peter Molyneux project so what's in the middle is going to be something horribly overwhelming. He'll then reflect on the amazing experiences of all the coverage the game was getting and what people were doing to get to the middle, and then in 6 months time he'll reflect and agree that it was disappointing.

Prejudice aside, there can be nothing in the cube that's more interesting that wondering what's in the cube. If I was able to create something that good, I'd probably charge for it. The problem is that there could be something about seeing things about all the other people who worked on the cube which would be fascinating, but in reality that would be a nightmare of privacy issues.

It is pretty easy to shit on it from afar, of course, but that's what you get with Molyneux's name attached. His entire persona is about overpromising.

I don't even think the contents of the cube is the most interesting thing about it.

The process of what's going to be carved into the wall would be interesting to watch in a timelapse, if they released a viewer that would let you explore it, but it doesn't sound like that's what they'd want to do. It's nice to have a thing where people can communicate as they work on it by tapping, but it's a little behind the times between twitter and minecraft, perhaps.

I don't think there's any mention of the DLC in that interview? He was talking about being able to buy bigger chisels in the past, including one for $50,000. I like the idea that the ending might be a big fuck you to try and teach people a lesson, but I don't know if it will be.

artcle said you can use in game coins to purchase things. coins you get for tapping on beat or for a long time or some shit. you also get points if your friend downloads it (facebook friend), automatically with no invite scheme

No, the game will probably fail massively and the guy will get nothing. Should have just been cash.

Pretty good article, and it links to this RPS interview that must have been agonising to be a part of

Game journalists usually never bear their teeth for this. I think Molyneux has played with them too many times, stupid tricks like making people sign the wall for that Fable Kinect game in a weird brainwashing move. Now he doesn't have a big studio behind him they maybe feel he is cornered and they are going for them. I'm glad to see it personally, I get annoyed when I hear the "Well in these days of shooters it's nice to have someone different", as if that's enough. He comes across as aloof, self-satisfied and unaware of other things that are going on and doing his ideas better (Minecraft).
