Saints Row: The Third - The Walking Apocalypse (Official Trailer) - YouTube

OK I wasn't that crazy about the first two Saints Row games.. I owned 2, and it was fun for about a week with the over-the-top GTA style, but it gold old fast. However, this looks pretty fucking awesome. I'm loving the Luchadore storyline. Silly? Maybe. Awesome? Very.

I'd say that Saints Row 2 is my favourite game of the current 'generation' of consoles. At least, I can't think of a title I've ploughed so much time into. Between the insane, crude humour and OTT action it really made an impact on me. It looked like shit when compared to its contemporary in GTAIV, but it has such charisma that I immediately fell in love with it.

Playing SR3 is my#1 priority at the Eurogamer Expo this month. Beeline straight to THQ. I honestly think it's got the potential to knock ol' Shadow of the Colossus off the perch of my favourite title ever. Which is weird, as they're fuck-all alike...

...ahem.

I adore Saints Row. No game takes itself less seriously, or just lets you cut loose and enjoy yourself as much as them. Looking forward to this.

I would not have taken you for a fan of beating people up with dildos.

As long as my PC can run this I will be preordering it. Greatly looking forward to hours of coop fun.

As long as I can dress like a ninja and have a Cockney accent when I do it, i'm in heaven.

Did you guys watch that trailer though? The wrestling tie-in looks really neat.

Game of the year.Listen to those people. "AhahahahaHAAAAHHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHHAHHAHAHA!"

I think Red Faction Guerilla was an overlooked game from Volition. Anyway, I have Saint's Row 2 on the PC, and I've tried it a couple of times but have never been able to get over the flighty controls and strange vehicle handling.

The character creator came out today. There are some familiar taunts to wrestling fans. Including "The Marine."

Yes, my character does have stunna shades and yes he also has a bowtie. Bowtie's are cool.

I can't wait for this game. I've just pre-ordered the Limited Edition with Tesco for £28.90. Use code EXM5OFF25-1 for £5 off, then use code 5SAINTS3-1 for another £5 off

Two things had better happen by the time I get home.

1: Virgin had better get my connection runnin' again
2: OnLive had better get THA ROW up on the store.

Both must happen...or they can both...INSERT IT...HEEERREE?

I feel so out of place. My character looks reasonably normal, hoodie, jeans, Timbs looks like a mix between Bodie and Marlo from The Wire and every character in the game looks like a cartoon character.

My character looks like a handsome, clean-cut version of myself. Played an hour this morning - and as soon as Merlin fucks off my telly; the missus will be pumped out of the room for THA ROW.

I marked out when Kanye West - Power played while I was skydiving out of a helicopter onto a building, ready to do some dirt. Epic. I really hate the over-the-topness of the game though. Puts me off for some reason. I think I'm just a GTA fanboy. My character is a tribute to the realism of GTA though so I'm happy.

Haha the realism of GTA.

Ploughed another two hours or so into it. It feels very similar to the second game, which I must've put about 40-50 hours into over various formats. I'm liking the new city and radio stations. Some Mastodon on there, which was cool.

Nope! :)

Plugged a few more hours in - I shouldn't watch anyone elses game on OnLive though, 'cause I end up going 'HOW DOES HE HAVE THE V-TOL ALREADY' and the like.

Loving it so far, but I've been kicked off the telly in favour of Lego Harry Potter.

Sick of this game already, it's the gameplay as IV. Drive to point A to B to whack someone, I like the unique missions though but overall, giving this game a 5.

Which is exactly the same as all of the GTA games yet you get to wear a fucking pimp suit and shoot people with a walking stick.

I don't care about any of that gaudy nonsense. This is a great game, it has completely won me over. Zavvi have it for £25 new and I ordered a copy for my friend for Christmas. We both hated Saints Row 2 but I'm gambling that he'll like this as they've really sorted things out.

Finished it this past weekend. Loved it. Thought the ending was kinda weak and abrupt, but that second to last mission, with Bonnie Tyler blasting through the speakers, while youre trying to get to your destination as fast as possible, its truly a fantastic sequence.

Obviously dont watch this if you havent played it

What was wrong with SR2?

Paypal me the money. :irked:

I went through with my friend about a week ago and beat 22 or so of the assassination missions. In between massive fights with Luchadors.

I'll get back to the main story eventually. I have too much fun just fucking around.

I tried Saint's Row 1 on 360 back in the day and it felt very cheap, then I have SR2 on PC which is apparently a bad idea and is maybe what put me off. The driving felt very wrong and the game ran like a dog.

Yes 2 was a mess, but Saints Row 3 runs flawlessly on PC. I play on Ultra with no stuttering. Co-op makes the game though.

75% off on Steam right now. Played a few hours of their free weekend (which just ended, sadly) and found it to be ridiculous fun. It's really captured the sense of chaos and mayhem that GTAIV seemed to totally toss away. Should I pay the extra $2.50 for the Full Package? I'm not sure what all these extra bits are.

Yes. Just reading through the list, there is at least 4 or 5 bits of that DLC that adds hours of stupidity onto the game.

Thanks, I went ahead and got it. I then walked outside my crib and found a broomstick I could use to fly around the city. I regret nothing about this purchase. How did I not come across such a crazy and fun game sooner? It's just madness in a digital box.

Grimario

I persevered with the relative awfulness that was SR2 on PC, purely because it was stupid fun and didn't take itself seriously... which is partly the reason why I found the GTA games such a chore.

It's just ridiculous. With the DLC, I think one of your starting weapons will be a 3ft long purple dildo that you can beat people up with, ffs

I haven't tried SR1 or 2 at all, though I've heard pretty bad things about the PC versions. This runs like a dream, though, even on High on my 5+ year old rig. Ultra runs just fine, too, unless it's raining helicopters. It looks better than GTAIV, and it's much smoother on the same hardware. I got IV for the PC in a huge sale a few months ago and thanks to SecureROM shenanigans and general bugginess and everything feeling a bit like work, never got around finishing the Ballad of Gay Tony (got through TLATD, which felt kinda short but was a decent story, and I completed the main game on the PS3 years ago). Maybe I'm just high on novelty value right now but I have a feeling I'll get a lot more mileage out of this. I was in a TV game show FFS!
