And here's a thread, in the vein of Ringo's, for Shimmer and all Shimmer related discussion. I think we all know at this point how much of a ridiculous mark for Shimmer I am, and i've inspired a bunch of people to give Shimmer a try in the past, and its pretty much universally adored by anyone open minded enough to give it a try these days. They're run by ROH announcer and (let's face it) old IWA:MS booker Dave Prazak and Allison Danger (Steve Corino's sister and former manager of the Prophecy in ROH), and its an old school match heavy setup with some of the best and most consistent wrestling you can find anywhere, male or female. Some of the rising stars they have that you will undoubtably be seeing in WWE or TNA soon are the Aussie Jessie McKay, the Lance Storm trained Tenielle and the Nerd Extraordinaire Leva Bates.

In addition to boasting the best women's wrestling roster since later 90s Joshi promotions, they also have their own school in conjunction with the Ring of Honor school (they're brother and sister promotions) taught by Daizee Haze.

They tape 4 shows in one weekend twice a year, so the new tapings are always a big deal, and one of them is happening later this month that Mrs. Cewsh and I will be at with bells on.

British wrestlers Britani and Saraya Knight are coming to SHIMMER!

The mother-and-daughter duo, who are two of the centerpieces of Pro-Wresting: EVE in the UK, have been confirmed the March 26th and 27th tapings in Berwyn, IL.

According to an official announcement (http://shimmerwomen.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=shimmer&thread=4073&page=1#86646), the Knights are looking to compete for the SHIMMER Tag Team Championships currently held by the Canadian Ninjas, Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews.

SHIMMER has announced the first batch of names for its March 26th and 27th tapings in Berwyn, IL.

It’s the usual cast of characters including champions, Madison Eagles and the Canadian Ninjas, as well as SHIMMER originals such as Sara Del Rey and Daizee Haze.

Other originals include MsChif, Cheerleader Melissa, Mercedes Martinez and Serena Deeb.

http://www.diva-dirt.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/voneerie.jpg

With less than a month left to go until the tapings, SHIMMER has announced that Christina Von Eerie will make her debut for the company. Billed from California, Von Eerie is perhaps best known for her work for ChickFight and AAA in Mexico. Last year, Von Eerie competed in a tryout match in TNA, teaming with Shannon Moore against Robbie E and Cookie.

She joins Britani and Saraya Knight as debuting talent for the weekend.

Right. I'm going to give these girls a shot. I'm generally allergic to women's wrestling but I managed to get into Joshi so who knows? This may work too.

I'd recommend starting with the most recent tapings that I just posted the results from. The first two are on DVD, and its a much slicker product these days than it used to be.

I have decided I should track down more Daizy Haze, based on the 1 (2?) matches I've seen so far.

(This isn't going to be another Inoue thing where I try to get into something, and people like because I like the shit folk eh? Heh)

Ahaha, Daizee has been around forever and has always pretty much been Ring of Honor's official female wrestler (until now I guess. Its probably Del Rey these days), and she's good. I definitely reccomend her as a heel though. She's kind of insufferable as a face.

She had a trial with WWE a while back right? How in gods name did they pass up on her? She gorgeous and she comes from a wrestling background.....and did i mention she's also reasonably attractive?

Women's wrestling news site Diva-Dirt.com is reporting that World Wrestling Entertainment has signed 22-year-old Australian women's wrestler Tenille Tayla to a developmental deal.

Tayla began training in Canada back in 2008 with former WWE star Lance Storm. No word yet on when she will begin working at Florida Championship Wrestling, but it should be in the next few weeks.

Tyla has worked for SHIMMER and will be appearing on the new World of Hurt Canadian reality TV show that will follow students from Lance Storm's wrestling school. The show debuts on May 1st on Canada's cable channel The Cave.

According to WWE sources, the company is actively looking to sign several new young divas to developmental contracts.

Well that didn't take long! Good scouting, Cewsh.

So people have been asking around about this strange Shimmer thing that people have been buzzing about recently. Who works there? What is it like? Is it bigger than a breadbox? Well now with the recent signing of yet another Shimmer girl (Tenille Tayla) it is time to take a trip down to Shimmer once again and see the future (and present) of women's wrestling as we formally review Shimmer Volume 33! Will the title finally appear around the waist of the beloved Cheerleader Melissa? Will the joshi invasion be turned aside? Why is Taylor Made so abhorrently terrible? Only one way to find out...

So, Cat Power, Shimmer midcarder extraordinaire, just spontaneously retired on Twitter. I just listened to her interview with Ringbelles and while she said she wanted to go back to school and maybe box or try MMA, she didn't seem to be done wrestling. Sad, I though she had a really fun gimmick.

Diva Dirt’s Alternative WrestleMania Match feature returns on WrestleMania Sunday, April 3rd. But that’s not all! This year we’ve teamed up with the good folks at SHIMMER Women Athletes to present a full length match from their DVD series — for free!

Continuing our annual ‘Alternative’ tradition, we will be streaming a match from the SHIMMER back catalogue exclusively here at Diva Dirt for 24 hours on WrestleMania Sunday, in association with ClickWrestle.com (http://clickwrestle.com/).

Last year (http://www.diva-dirt.com/2010/03/28/in-video-diva-dirts-first-annual-alternative-wrestlemania-match/) thousands streamed our free match between Cheerleader Melissa and MsChif provided by ChickFight.

In case you weren’t with us this time last year, perhaps you’re wondering, “What is the Alternative WrestleMania Match?” Well, read on…
Following disappointing buildup and disappointing matches at WrestleMania in the past few years, Diva Dirt has taken it upon ourselves to present an alternative for all of you female wrestling addicts! Don’t get us wrong — we love us some Divas, obviously — but rather than being disappointed by WWE’s mishandling of them, we’re offering you the chance to sample a high quality match worthy of the WrestleMania stage.
The Alternative ‘Mania Match will:

Give you an opportunity to try something new. As opposed to the wrestling that is on TV, this is your chance to check out some of the other promotions out there. We’ve selected a match that we think speaks for the quality of SHIMMER to give you a taste.
Shine a spotlight on great women’s wrestling. Sometimes two-to-three minutes just isn’t enough. See what women can do given 20-30 minutes!
Introduce you to new names/faces. While some of you will be familiar with independent promotions and independent wrestlers, many may not. This is a chance to get to know some of the talented ladies outside of WWE and TNA.

If you like what you see — and we’re confident you will! — we encourage you to support the independent promotions and wrestlers highlighted by picking up some DVDs or legally purchasing match downloads at ClickWrestle.

The Alternative ‘Mania Match is 100% free and 100% legal. Just log onto Diva Dirt on April 3rd between 12am ET Sunday and 12am ET Monday to watch. The SHIMMER office will be announcing exactly which match from their 36-DVD history we’ll be streaming for free very soon!

For more information on SHIMMER and to pick up tickets for their Volume 37-40 tapings next weekend, click here (http://shimmerwrestling.com/). For DVDs click here (http://www.rohstore.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=6) and check out the SHIMMER channel on ClickWrestle here (http://clickwrestle.com/view/shimmer-women-athletes).

For all you guys who wanted to check out Shimmer before buying it, here's your chance.

So, erm, there is good news and bad news for any Daffney fans out there.

She recently tweeted the following in response to a fan asking her if she'd be wrestling at the Shimmer tapings this weekend:

Really wish I was going to @shimmerwomen this wknd. But @rachelsummerlyn made me say "I Quit" so I've had my last match. Maybe managing or reffing is in my future. Rachel is a badass

The good news is that she put over Rachel Summerlyn like fucking gangbusters. The bad news that is going to make Vice end all creation is that it appears that Daffers is serious about retiring. She only has one scheduled date on the horizon and there's no way of knowing whether she's wrestling there or managing.

So for all intents and purpose, Daffney has just announced her retirement. :(

Based off recommendations from here I've been watching the women's matches from SMASH and I'd love to see Kana in Shimmer.

* Bonesaw Jessie Brooks def. Jett Riley with a double underhook DDT.

* Kellie Skater issues open challenge which is answered by MsChif.

3. LuFisto def. Tomoka Nakagawa with the Shellshock.

Mercedes Martinez promo. She vows to defeat Madison Eagles and become the new SHIMMER Champion.

4. Regeneration X (Allison Danger & Leva Bates) def. Jamilia Craft & Mia Yim. Regeneration X are wearing Dr. Who inspired outfits. Regeneration X win via Lungblower/Lovelace Choker combo on Craft.

Backstage interview with Melissa. She says she deserves a shot at the title since she beat her last volume. Madison Eagles interfers and tells Melissa to work her way back into the title picture. Madison vs Mercedes is announced as the main event.

5. Christina Von Eerie comes out and says she’s excited to be at SHIMMER. Von Eerie then calls out Sara Del Rey for a match. Von Eerie wins via countout after Del Rey misses a capo kick on the outside. Post-match a brawl ensues. All of the referees have to come out and break it up.

6. Cheerleader Melissa def. Athena with a Kudo Driver.

In another return, Rebecca Knox returns to a standing ovation. She says she will not return as a in-ring competitor, but as a manager. She then introduces Saraya and Britani Knight.\

7. The Knight Dynasty def. Roxx and Ariel via DQ, after Saraya tried to hit Ariel with brass knuckles and Ariel grabbed them and got caught hitting Saraya with them.

3. Nikki Roxx and Ariel def. Regeneration X (Allison Danger and Leva Bates) with a double roll up.

4. Sara Del Rey def. Christina Von Eerie with the Royal Butterfly.

5. Cheerleader Melissa def. Melanie Cruise with the Air Raid Crash.

6. Jessie McKay & Serena def. the Canadian Ninjas with the Boyfriend Stealer.

Afterwards, Nicole gives Jessie a beatdown before leaving.

7. Mercedes Martinez def. Rachel Summerlyn with a Fisherman Buster.

MsChif comes out for an interview with Amber Gertner. MsChif demands a rematch for the title. Madison appears and says she is not wrestling tonight. MsChif says she isn’t a true champ and Madison attacks her. Title match!

8. Madison Eagles def. MsChif to retain the SHIMMER Championship with the Hell Bound.

9. 3S (Misaki Ohata and Hiroyo Matsumoto) def. Britani and Saraya Knight to retain the Shimmer Tag Team titles.

10. Ayako Hamada def. Ayumi Kurihara with the AP Cross.

There's really too much to tell to sum it up quickly, but here are some highlights.

- MsChif and Lufisto came back to enormous reactions.

- Rebecca Knox came back and joined the Knight Dynasty and together, they're one of the best tag team acts i've ever seen. Oh, and Rebecca Knox is so jaw droppingly gorgeous that when I bumped into her at the after party I couldn't make my mouth form intelligible words for 5 minutes.

- Melissa is doing a storyline where she has to work her way back up to a title shot from the very bottom and it came off brilliantly, with Melissa making Athena and Cruise look golden and anticipation is visibly building in fans for the rematch between Melissa and Madison.

- Leva Bates and Allison Danger as Regeneration X were absolutely adorable, if not the most well oiled team.

- I was really impressed by Mena Libra. Like really impressed.

- Serena Deeb is craaaaaaaaaaaazy over.

- People were genuinely SHOCKED by the tag title change.

- Madison Eagles doesn't have anything except great matches as Shimmer champion. Its almost getting ridiculous at this point.

- Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara had the best match wrestled by women since late 90s Japan. I might need to see it again to affirm that, but being there watching it, it was virtual perfection.

- Where we were sitting in the front row, we almost got lariated by the guardrail, tackled by Madison Eagles and stepped on by Mercedes Martinez, as well as heckled by the Ninjas and Daizee Haze and hi fived by half the roster. That and we got 8 hours of fucking radass wrestling, spent more money on merchandise than we did on tickets, and had french fries with Shimmer girls.

Seriously. You guys need to get in on this. The more of us who go, the more fun it will be.

Hey, you're welcome, brother.

The production values and talent ramp up by a ton once you get into the late 20s and into the 30s. I myself haven't seen a ton of the early stuff, but there are a lot of gems to be found. Huge chunks of the TNA and WWE women's rosters (tthe good chunks) can be found on those early Shimmer volumes.

Just keep Shimmering, amigo.

Are you counting Japanese women's/other countries' women wrestling in that, or just here in the states? I mean considering who's in that match, I'd believe it, just looking for clarification.

Man, when I left, it was a struggle to just keep a thread open about women's wrestling. Warms the heart to see a whole Shimmer thread.

Yeah, when she showed up at the last tapings she was, frankly, not impressive. But she's really grown from last time.

For that matter so have Bonesaw and Mia Yim. Bonesaw is finally growing into her gimmick and making it feel natural, and Mia Yim is showing glimmers that she may live up to her hype a few years from now. Though let me make this clear, Mia Yim is Davey Richards when he started with ROH. Miles of hype and green as grass.

Every taping is at the Berwyn Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL. Its right outside Chicago. Tapings are twice a year so the next one is probably in August. If anybody is thinking of coming let me know and we'll all organize a gathering thing.

Also Volume 39 just finished and McKay/Matthews 2 out of 3 falls was awesome. Unfortunately some drunk guy heckled the whole show. He may very well get his ass kicked. News as it happens...

Anyway, I might stop DVRing TNA and start checking this out instead, it looks like good fun. I did watch one of the earlier volumes when I was into ROH heavily and I enjoyed it. But I could only handle so much indy wrestling at once.

So, erm, there is good news and bad news for any Daffney fans out there.

She recently tweeted the following in response to a fan asking her if she'd be wrestling at the Shimmer tapings this weekend:

The good news is that she put over Rachel Summerlyn like fucking gangbusters. The bad news that is going to make Vice end all creation is that it appears that Daffers is serious about retiring. She only has one scheduled date on the horizon and there's no way of knowing whether she's wrestling there or managing.

So for all intents and purpose, Daffney has just announced her retirement. :(

Found this on the main page.

-- Former TNA talent Raven and Daffney have been announced for WrestleReunion, which takes next Sunday at the Atlanta Marriott.

I assume that's a show with actual matches, though I don't know for sure. So...could it have been a lie/work? Maybe her last thing she'll work before she quits or something.

According to the WrestleReunion Website they are both 'vendor guests', and it's a convention rather than a card.

Also, kind of glad to see how sensible Dave Prazak is in terms of business sense. He's not trying to do an ECW and blow up as quick as they can regardless of cost. He's slowly building their brand/company based on what they're actually able to do. Good to see.

I respect that. It's not for everyone. As a woman, I find their matches more relatable and I do think they offer a different style and perspective from the men. But in most companies, they are either legitimately worse or booked to be worse than the guys.

Frankly, I wish there were more intergender matches, especially in companies like ROH. TNA had Hamada do a couple that I wish had led somewhere.

SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club (6309 26th Street) in Berwyn, IL on Saturday & Sunday, October 1st & 2nd, 2011. Volumes 41-44 of the SHIMMER DVD series will be filmed over the course of that weekend.

We're announcing the dates this far in advance to give everyone plenty of time to set the dates aside, request time off from work, and start saving money for a potential trip to Chicago. If you've never been to a SHIMMER taping live, but have always wondered what it would be like to catch our shows in person, you've got several months notice to plan ahead and make the trip for these events!

Front row tickets will go on sale in a few weeks. More details will be announced soon.

2 big pieces of news going into the October Shimmer tapings.

The first is that now that Ring of Honor has been bought out by the Sinclair Broadcasting Group, they will no longer be selling Shimmer DVDs on their site and they have cut all professional ties to Shimmer. Which sucks, but its understandable. DVDs will now be sold primarily through Shimmer's blog at http://shimmerwrestling.blogspot.com/.

The second piece of news is that awesome Japanese joshi sensation Kana will be making her first ever trip to America to compete at the October tapings. She was far and away the most requested new signing from Shimmer's fanbase and she's coming over to go batshit on people.

Here's a video of a random match to give you an idea of who she is. She's the one in lingerie.

* Athena vs Mercedes Martinez ends in a double count-out. After the match, the fans chant for a restart. Mercedes starts a shoving match, which makes the referees come out. Athena gets in the ring, but Mercedes says she’s done with her and heads to the back. Athena’s music hits and she gets a chant from the fans. Looks like Martinez may have turned heel and Athena face.

* Jessie McKay def. Britani Knight via Boyfriend Stealer. Post-match, Saraya comes out and disowns Britani. Britani tries to apologize, but Saraya slaps her. Britani attacks Saraya, which starts a fight that takes about 10 dudes to break up. Britani says that Rebecca left because of Saraya and now she’s leaving too and challenges her mother to a match. More fighting ensues. AWESOME segment.

* Serena def. Portia Perez in a No Holds Barred match via Spear off of a table.

* Cheerleader Melissa def. Kana via Air Raid Crash to become #1 contender for the SHIMMER Championship.

* Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara def. Sara Del Rey and Madison Eagles to retain their SHIMMER Tag Team Championships. Hamada pinned Del Rey after the AP Cross.

Shimmer Volume 44

* Davina Rose vs Kellie Skater. Kellie def. Davina via Kick/running neck snap combo.

* Taylor Made def. Veda Scott via spinning neckbreaker.

* Kalamity def. Tomoka Nakagawa via the Kalamity-ville Horror.

* Nevaeh and Sassy Stephie def. Ashley Lane and Mia Yim after Sassy hits Yim with the Kiss My Sass. Ashley and Neveah brawl all the way to the backstage area.

* Serena def. Yumi Ohka via spear.

* Regeneration X, Christina Von Eerie and MsChif def. Bonesaw Jessie Brook, She Nay Nay, Melanie Cruise and Mena Libra is next. Von Eerie with pin on She Nay Nay after a double underhook facebuster.

* Hiroyo Matsumoto def. Jessie McKay via Saito suplex.

* Sara Del Rey def. Courtney Rush via Royal Butterfly. Before the match, Courtney tries to get Sara to dance to Poker Face. Sara attacks her to start the match.

* Athena def. Mercedes Martinez via DQ, after Mercedes attacks her with a chair. Post-match, Mercedes works over Athena’s leg with the chair and nails her with a fisherman’s buster. Mercedes goes to the back laughing. Athena gets on the mic and says she thinks her leg might be broken, but when she is well she’s coming after Mercedes.

* Kana def. LuFisto via chokehold.

* Britani Knight def. Saraya Knight in a No DQ match with a modified DDT.

* Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara def. the Canadian Ninjas to retain their SHIMMER Tag Team Championships after Ayumi hits Portia Perez with a Uranage.

* Cheerleader Melissa def. Madison Eagles to become the new SHIMMER Champion after reversing the Hellbound. After the match, Melissa celebrates but is attacked by Nicole Matthews.

I love Portia's all black gear. Much more menacing than the teal and pink. The black and pink from 41, eh, I'll need to see it being wrestled. It kind of looks like she got in a fight with a shredder.

Nakagawa brought a little chair for her to sit on. You can see it in the full gallery.

So two bits of news. First, the dates for the next round of Shimmer Tapings have been announced and you fuckers need to be there. Its March 17 and 18 of next year and the tickets go on sale in January.

The second bit of news is that Lufisto is taking a break from wrestling citing extreme burnout from the wrestling industry as a whole. Major bummer because she's always a delight.

You can read about her decision here: http://ringbellesonline.com/2011/11/05/lufisto-discusses-her-relationship-with-wrestling/#more-4229

Definitely am going to try to go this time. I can get the train to Chicago, and for once it won't be on my wife's birthday or her grandmother's birthday or something. A weekend away for us in Chi-town sounds good. How fast do the tickets usually go? If I want a good seat, do I have to be online the minute they are on sale?

Cewsh
November 6th, 2011, 2:49 PM
You're going to want the front row if you don't mind spending the extra (usually runs about $25 a seat for each of the four shows, so about $200 with a guest for the whole thing), and those tickets usually go in the first few days. Its best to try to snap them up as soon as you know tickets are on sale because they've been selling out faster and faster each time.

General admission usually doesn't sell out until the day of the show itself, so if you're cool sitting back, then that's cheaper and gives you more time. I wouldn't want to, though.

Mrs. Cewsh
November 8th, 2011, 7:14 PM
Cewsh is way off on the price. Front row is $70/day with GA at $30/day. But one day is two volumes and ~25 matches.

Front row sells out in a couple of hours of the tickets being on sale.

Okay, so I have good news, and I have really, really, really, really bad news.

First the good news. On January 1st, tickets to the Shimmer Volume 45-48 tapings on March 17th and 18th are going to go on sale. As usual front row tickets are $70 per person for each full day (a full day comprises two tapings of the four). So that's $140 for the full weekend for front row. General admission seats are $30 per day and $60 for the full weekend. Mrs. Cewsh and I are going to be there without a doubt, and if you have any interest in SHIMMER in the slightest you should make sure that you are too, even if only so you can come to the Shimmer sponsored after party and get drunk with a bunch of women significantly tougher and better at karaoke than you.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/shimgroupoct2011.jpg

You can find details on how to order tickets here: http://shimmerwrestling.blogspot.com/2011/12/tickets-to-shimmer-45-48-on-sale-jan-1.html

...and now the bad news.

Eagles: Knee injury could be career-ending

That’s never a title you want to read, but it’s the reality that the winner of the 2011 PWI Female Fifty, our choice for 2010 Wrestler of the Year, former SHIMMER Champion and current PWWA titleholder Madison Eagles is having to consider at the moment.

Speaking exclusively to Ringbelles following a two week, self-imposed exile from the Internet, the 27 year old Australian broke her silence in the latest Women Of Wrestling Podcast to explain the nature of her knee injury, when and how it occurred, and its severity.

It’s just disgusting. I got the worst prognosis that I could have; either surgery and you can’t wrestle again or let’s just wait it out and see what happens. Unfortunately, that one doesn’t have any time restraint on it. We’re looking at crap or crapper.

It was two days after SHIMMER [back at the start of October] that I did it. I did a double stomp – from doom, as I call it, the Double Stomp of Doom – and just hyperextended my knee so horribly that I just collapsed in pain and couldn’t move. I think it was six weeks after I actually did the injury that I finally got my MRI from the specialist done – and at that point it still looked pretty horrible, like, having been healing for six weeks. So they put me in a brace for another five or six weeks and that’s just come off recently and it’s still pretty bad. It just looks horrible from my point of view.

At the moment, Eagles is electing to see if the knee will heal of its own accord, though there is no set timeframe for her to be given a clean bill of health. This could mean weeks, possibly months, or even longer before she is able to return to the ring. The injury has also meant that Eagles has had to turn down a number of bookings in Japan, as well as having to miss JoshiMania earlier this month, after having been announced in late October as one of the few gaijin stars who would be on the card.

Source: http://ringbellesonline.com/2011/12/26/eagles-knee-injury-could-be-career-ending/

I am fucking gutted about this, guys. Eagles had probably the best championship run of matches of any champion anywhere in the world for the past 2 years and now she may very well be done for good just when she finally made a name for herself in the US. At least she got to finish her amazing feud with Melissa. :\

If you guys want front row tickets, they went on sale half an hour ago and they get snapped up fast so hop to it. In order to get them you have to register an account at http://shimmerwomen.proboards.com/index.cgi and then follow Dave Prazak's instruction here: http://shimmerwomen.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=shimmer&action=display&thread=4345. Once again its $70 per front row ticket, per day.

If you just want to go general admission, that's much simpler and you'll have way more time to get those, probably right up until bell time.

Well fuckers, we're less than 2 months out for the first Shimmer tapings of the year, and some people have started getting announced for the shows. Remember, if you want to make it and haven't bought a ticket already the front row is already sold out, but general admission is half the price, and in a 250 seat auditorium, there aren't actually any bad seats. So go to this website:

http://shimmerwrestling.blogspot.com/

And hook that up, or just show the hell up, as often tickets are available at the door (though fewer and fewer as each event goes by, so this is not a certainty option).

Anyway, on will the big reveal. Oh, and fair warning, there will be gifs.

I've fallen behind with the DVDs but I really want to see this. One thing I love about Shimmer is how easily they seem to be able to capture the crowd's imagination and get them to suspend disbelief. It's like the SHIMMER logo is some kind of hypnotic suggestion to turn my Smark Mode to 'off', because I just roll with it, and it seems pretty much everyone in the crowd really gets into the fun, so a dastardly heel can expect a hostile reception. WWE seems to only really manage this sort of thing by accident via Cena-Hate. TNA fans would cheer Mussolini if he could do a backflip off a cage.

Guy next to the guy next to me said something, and she got in his face. He was a great deal taller and bigger than her, so he just stared over her head and ignored her. She hoped on the guard rail, looked down on him, then shoved his ass back down. He stayed down until she left, then popped up and acted all tough, before giving a smile so goofie it would put Cena to shame. It was glorious. The best was people chanting "Please don't die!" What are you doing come October, good buddy? Because DDT, Psycho, Mrs. Cewsh and I are all converging on Chicago for the next batch of tapings.

The best was people chanting "Please don't die!" At her opponents, and meaning it.

Veda Scott actually begged the ring announcer to not let the match start. So great.

DDT, you wanted more info on the Melissa/Saraya history? Someone on the Shimmer forum just posted the whole thing:

Just a bit of further news on the back story between Melissa and Saraya.

First encounter in January 2007. Saraya's home town with her family in the front row. Saraya was caught in a Cactus Jack style hangman in the ropes and Melissa [the heel]continued to attack her, also attacking her [then 14 year old] daughter Britani when she tried to come to her Mother's aid. Saraya came out at the end of the show, warning Melissa that she would 'get her' when she was fit.

April 2007. London, England. Saraya attacked Melissa after a match and the two had to be separated by numerous wrestlers.

June 2007 - the wild fight that everyone has heard about. Police were called and Saraya literally tore her knee cap off. Here are a few reports I have found from the time:

'Tonight Sweet Saraya, who had a f****** incredible brawl with Cheerleader Melissa that never once even got in the ring, was injured. In fact, the brawl ended up outside, where Melissa bodyslammed Saraya on the cobbled street (bear in mind, this is the same Saraya who could barely walk last weekend at WAWW, so God knows how she was able to fight this evening). Anyway, as it came back through the arena, something happened when they were on the far side of the ring from me (and the hard camera). Referees ended up coming out to restrain Melissa, along with Ricky Knight and The Kraft. Melissa was like a woman possessed trying to rip and tear at Saraya, but something was wrong... Saraya was screaming in agony. Eventually they managed to physically drag Melissa backstage, who by this point had blood on her hands, literally. People and fans huddled around Saraya, who was still shouting in pain. I had no idea whether this was a real injury or part of the bad blood angle with Saraya and Melissa, but Dean Ayass (Booker, Commentator) (who had been over checking on her) shot me a quick "X" sign, so it became clear that this was real. The ambulance was called and everyone stood around, concerned. Len told me that she had split her knee open and there was blood. The ambulance people arrived and worked on Saraya. She's tough as they come, but she was screaming in sheer agony - which is something that I won't forget in a long time. Eventually she was placed on a stretcher and taken out to an ovation.'

'I am afraid the news from the hospital is not good, She has severed a tendon and is having surgery in the next few hours. rick knight. [saraya's husband]

'surgeons have worked on Saraya's knee and the diagnosis is not good, there is a strong possibility her career is over, rick knight'

'As Ricky Knight said - Her knee cap was completley ripped off, we had some photo's taken while doctors were taken a look at it and we'll show you them soon. You also need to see the scars and cuts and bruises that are etched all over Saraya's body - I wasn't there at the venue to see the match and I could feel the pain! Saraya kept on telling me at the hospital that she was gonna be there tomorrow. [She was booked against Amazing Kong the following afternoon!] Ricky Knight went after Melissa after Melissa kept on attacking the knee AFTER the kneecap had been ripped off so.....lot of emotions as far as that concerned and I'll be honest with you from a professional standpoint I don't think we can put those two together again.' Dann Read Chickfight UK promoter.

All very real events at the time.

Saraya herself talks about the injury in this podcast. It's um...gory. Yeah. Gory. (And Saraya of course admits that Melissa did no such thing as attack her after her knee was broken. They even snuck her into the hospital to see Saraya after the fans left.)

http://ringbellesonline.com/2011/03/21/wow-podcast-19-with-saraya-britani-knight/

Unfortunately the picture I was telling you about, of her posing with the Coke can the next night, appears to have been taken down.

It's a shame there aren't more wrestling fans with money willing to put it toward these smaller promotions. They could use the budget and probably put out some sick looking dvd's to make up for the lack of national t.v. exposure. Sometimes the low-level quality of where they're wrestling, the lighting, the sound, it really does make a difference in how the "mainstream" accepts your product.

Kickstarter has been so successful for indie companies lately, I wonder if Shimmer started a drive for more lighting or boom mics or even new ropes/aprons/curtains if they wouldn't be more successful than selling the usual merch. Obviously I don't think any fans have the money to buy HD cameras, but I bet they could raise a grand or two.

I really wish the Eagles' Club would paint or decorate those sad wood paneled walls. They come across terribly on tape.

I'm just saying you would think out of the millions of fans worldwide that a decent % made enough money to at least fund a few DVD's. I'm not talking some Michael Bay level shit I'm saying give Shimmer 250k and see what they can do with it on that level, bring in a few people to shine it up when they're doing a big show to put on DVD. Some shows look the exact same in every youtube vid or DVD, it literally looks like 100 indie promotions use the same crew and set up.

Last night at a show in LuFisto's promotion in Montreal, the Canadian Ninjas beat the Queens of Winning to win back the Shimmer tag titles and become the promotion's first 2 time champions. This is on the heels of news that Del Rey has been offered a developmental deal with WWE.

Sucks for Courtney Rush, and that we wont get to see more of that weird awesomeness, but them belts do look right on the Ninjas, I must say.

I could get into that. It was a two on one beatdown for the belts, after Sara walked out, so she should get some resolution with them. I could see her tagging with Chif or LuFi.

Oh, this got lost in the tag belt kerfuffle, but Cat Power returned to wrestling on Sunday in a 6 woman match, teaming with Rush and Xandra Bale against the Midwest Militia. I love her and hope she'll return to Shimmer in October. She was at the March shows selling merch.

July 24th, 2012, 11:07 AM
So for those of you who follow Shimmer, there's been some big fucking news lately.

Firstly, Shimmer just announced that they'll be doing only their second ever taping outside of Chicago, when they join Dragon Gate USA and Chikara for Wrestlecon in New Jersey over Wrestlemania weekend April 5th-7th. They'll only be doing one single show, (as opposed to the 4 they do at a regular taping,) and it'll be part of the big fuck off wrestling convention going on that day. So if you're in town for Wrestlemania, or on the fence about going, that's some cool fucking news. They normal Shimmer tapings will pick back up just one week later on April 13th, and will go on like normal. This probably means that a lot of fans are going to have to choose to go to one or the other, but its still a cool chance for Shimmer to get some more exposure.

More details here: http://www.wrestlecon.com/

Secondly, Shimmer's little sister promotion Shine just had its first show on Friday and it seems to have been a grand success. It was main evented by Sara Del Rey vs. Jazz and people have actually been buzzing a ton about how well Reby Sky, (Matt Hardy's girlfriend,) was. Apparently she completely blew everyone away, which is weird since a year ago she was downright awful. But if you want to see the show, its still streaming online, and you can find out more about it on their website: http://www.shinewrestling.com/

Also, it looks like the Midwest Militia, (or at least the Allysin Kay part,) will be coming to Shimmer in October. With WSU now under new management, you can expect to see more WSU talent making their way to Shimmer soon.

Rad stuff.

BigDirty
July 25th, 2012, 2:19 PM
I don't know about more WSU talent making their way to Shimmer, who do they really have that's Shimmer material and isn't already in Shimmer?
Lexxus? I could see that, she's pretty good.
Jessicka Havok? There could be some good hard hitting matchups with the likes of Melissa, LuFisto, Cruise, etc., but I don't really want the Midwest Militia in every female promotion.
Brittney Savage? She's solid, I HATE her RKO though.
Marti Belle? Maybe in the future, she has potential, but right now from what I've seen of her I simply can't take her offense seriously.
Latasha? They say she has improved in Japan, but I'm still not convinced, maybe it's because I've only seen her in tag matches with Jana.
Alicia? No way.
Niya? While she has improved from the first time I've seen her, she's still nowhere near Shimmer quality in my opinion.
Tina? Very overrated in my opinion.
Jana? No.
Rick Cataldo? Well if Prazak ever wants to kill Shimmer, bringing Cataldo in would be a good start.
Jennifer Cruz? Yes! Yes! Yes! She's awesome! j/k (she's pretty charismatic though)
What I really don't want to happen is Shimmer, WSU & Shine sharing 80% of their roster with oneanother, although the companies have different styles (at least WSU and Shimmer have, haven't seen Shine yet) if the all have the same people (minus jobbers & imports) it could become a bit boring.

Cewsh
July 25th, 2012, 3:27 PM
Well Shine is supposed to basically be Shimmer's unofficial development territory. So there will be a close partnership there and shared talent. But I agree, I really didn't see a single person in WSU who needs to be in Shimmer.

Alright, I'm not going to do some big huge Shimmer preview, since that sort of thing is PocketVolcano's deal nowadays. But I will put up the big huge announcement of who all is announced that Shimmer put on their message board:

SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES is pleased to announce the addition of the exceptionalAYAKO HAMADAto the list of confirmed competitors for the SHIMMER 49-52 tapings, coming up on Saturday & Sunday, October 27th & 28th at the Berwyn Eagles Club!

Ever since her SHIMMER arrival in 2009,Ayako Hamadahas been one of the true MVP's of each event. She made her initial impression on the Berwyn Eagles Club crowd with intense battles against both Mercedes Martinez and Sara Del Rey, which remain two of the most talked about matches in company history. Later singles outings against women such as Daizee Haze, Cheerleader Melissa, Ayumi Kurihara, and Madison Eagles only further proved why Hamada is one of the very best women in the sport today.
Ayako made history along with Ayumi Kurihara by capturing the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship at SHIMMER 41 from Daizee Haze & Tomoka Nakagawa. They went on to rack up the most defenses of any SHIMMER Tag Team Championship duo thus far, including the first international defense of the SHIMMER Tag Team Titles on the Joshi4Hope III event in Japan. Having lost the titles earlier this year, in less than three weeks Hamada will once again return to the singles ranks in Berwyn as part of the SHIMMER 49-52 tapings.

SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club (6309 26th Street) in Berwyn, IL onSaturday & Sunday, October 27th & 28th, 2012. Bell time on Saturday, October 27th is 2pm. Volumes 49 & 50 of the SHIMMER series will be filmed on Saturday. Bell time on Sunday, October 28th is 1pm. Volumes 51 & 52 of the SHIMMER series will be filmed on Sunday.

Officially announced thus far for participation in the SHIMMER 49-52 events are: SHIMMER Champion Sweet Saraya Knight, SHIMMER Tag Team Champions The Canadian Ninjas, Cheerleader Melissa, MsChif, Mercedes Martinez, Allison Danger, Leva Bates, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Ryo Mizunami, Kana, Tomoka Nakagawa, Athena, Christina Von Eerie, Allysin Kay, Yumi Ohka, Kellie Skater, Shazza McKenzie, Rhia O'Reilly, Davina Rose, Kc Spinelli, Melanie Cruise, Veda Scott, Sassy Stephie, Miss Natural, Taylor Made, and Ayako Hamada. More names will be revealed during the remaining weeks leading up to the events. Over 30 of the top female wrestlers from around the world will be a part of the festivities!

Front row seating is already sold out for the entire weekend. General admission tickets are still available, at a cost of $30 per full day of taping (two full length DVDs per day, so essentially $15 per DVD worth of live matches). Tickets can be purchased online right now by visitinghttp://www.shimmerwrestling.com/and using PayPal. If you would like to purchase tickets via money order, please E-mail shimmernews@yahoo.com for mail order instructions. We strongly advise purchasing tickets in advance for the events, as once we reach venue capacity, we must turn away anyone else looking to purchase tickets at the door.

In addition to SHIMMER 49-53 on October 27th & 28th at the Berwyn Eagles Club, our friends at AAW: Professional Wrestling Redefined will present "War Is Coming" in Berwyn that Friday night, October 26th. Already signed is a SHIMMER Title Match pitting Saraya Knight against former SHIMMER Champion MsChif! Also announced so far are Athena, Christina Von Eerie, and Nicole Matthews. Visithttp://www.aawrestling.com/to purchase tickets.

The after party each night that weekend will be at Paisans Pizzeria & Bar, 6226 W. Ogden Ave. in Berwyn, just over one mile from the Eagles Club.

Make your plans now to be a part of the weekend of SHIMMER tapings which will include the milestone SHIMMER 50 event. Mark your calendars, and join us live!

Here's a closer look at the most recent additions to the SHIMMER 49-52 talent pool...

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/nizatural.jpg

In what may be considered an unexpected addition to the SHIMMER 49-52 talent pool, twelve year veteran of the squared circleMiss Naturalsteps back into the SHIMMER ring in less than three weeks. Natural had an all too brief initial run in SHIMMER action as part of the SHIMMER 21 & 22 tapings in October of 2008, before taking an extended hiatus from active competition in professional wrestling.

As of late, Miss Natural has been in the midst of a career resurgence, appearing on wrestling events multiple times per week throughout the Central States, Mid-South, and Upper Midwest regions of the country. Natural is a no nonsense athlete with multiple training influences under her belt, including wrestling greats Ken Patera and former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race.

Though SHIMMER fans and the other women on the roster didn't have a true opportunity to find out what Miss Natural brings to the table during her initial SHIMMER stint, they will certainly get that chance when she returns to the Eagles Club for SHIMMER 49-52 to mix it up with the current crop of SHIMMER stars.

One of the wrestlers who has seen far too little SHIMMER action over the past few years isTaylor Made. Originally based in the Chicago area, Taylor has won some and lost some on the SHIMMER undercard during her sporadic appearances, but has recently made some major changes. Now based in Tampa, Florida, Taylor was one of the first women signed to be a part of the events run by SHIMMER's sister promotion SHINE in Ybor City. Taylor quickly formed the new "Made In Sin" tag team unit with Detroit's Allysin Kay, which has been quite successful thus far as part of the SHINE tag team division. With Allysin also making her SHIMMER main show debut on SHIMMER 49-52, things could get even more interesting for the Berwyn tag team scene less than three weeks from now, as both women will be in the Eagles Club looking to make an impact.

Daizee Haze traineeVeda Scottis now in her second year as an active professional wrestler, and during that time has taken advantage of every opportunity presented to her in order to gain experience all around the world. At the last set of SHIMMER tapings, in addition to singles action, Veda formed a tag team unit with Australia's Shazza McKenzie. Shortly thereafter, Veda made her Canadian debut for NCW Femmes Fatales, and just prior to the upcoming SHIMMER weekend, Veda will wrestle for the first time in Japan, as part of Joshi4Hope IV.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/stephiemr.jpg

Ohio nativeSassy Stephiereturned to the SHIMMER singles ranks earlier this year. Upon making that move, she was reunited with managerMademoiselle Rachelle, who was taken from Stephie's side during late 2011 due to studying abroad. With Rachelle's supposedly improved English, the pair feel they are a stronger combination than ever before as they head into SHIMMER 49-52, just over three weeks away.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/davinacl.jpg

Northern California'sDavina Rosemade her SHIMMER debut during late 2011, and found herself immediately mixing it up with several established veterans of SHIMMER competition. Davina's first opponent was Mercedes Martinez, who welcomed Rose to SHIMMER in a very physical manner. As the protege of Serena Deeb, Davina also quickly found herself in the middle of an ongoing rivalry between Portia Perez and Serena, stepping into the ring against both Portia and Nicole Matthews in singles bouts. Earlier this year, Davina and Mia Yim formed a tag team unit which had several strong outings, including impressive matches against Ray & Leon as well as the Canadian Ninjas. With Mia away on a Japan tour by the time SHIMMER rolls around, Davina will shift her focus once again to singles competition for SHIMMER 49-52.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/spinellicl.jpg

Kc Spinelliis another young up and coming star who has been building her reputation along the west coast of North America over the past two years. Frequently competing in ECCW rings in the Vancouver area, Spinelli also spent time training under the guidance of Lance Storm during the first season of the "World of Hurt" reality show. Kc made her way to the Berwyn Eagles Club during late 2011 as part of the SPARKLE pre-show bouts. Spinelli returned to make her SHIMMER main show debut earlier this year, with outings against Kellie Skater, Kalamity, and the New York Knockout.

Davina and Kc join the following previously announced competitors who will participate in the SHIMMER 49-52 tapings: SHIMMER Champion Sweet Saraya Knight, SHIMMER Tag Team Champions The Canadian Ninjas, Cheerleader Melissa, MsChif, Mercedes Martinez, Allison Danger, Leva Bates, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Ryo Mizunami, Kana, Tomoka Nakagawa, Athena, Christina Von Eerie, Allysin Kay, Yumi Ohka, Kellie Skater, Shazza McKenzie, and Rhia O'Reilly. Look for more names to slowly be revealed during the remaining weeks leading up to the events. Over 30 of the top female wrestlers from around the world will be a part of the festivities!

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/shazanc2.jpg

Australia'sShazza McKenziemade her SHIMMER debut earlier this year, both forming a tag team duo with Veda Scott as well as entering the singles ranks. During one of her initial outings, Shazza had the valuable, yet terrifying opportunity to square off against Saraya Knight. During recent months, McKenzie has been in action back in Australia for the PWA. Shazza returns to the United States next month, not only for SHIMMER 49-52 in Berwyn, but also to participate in the SHINE 4 iPPV in Ybor City, FL one week earlier.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/rhiacl2.jpg

Belfast, Northern Ireland'sRhia O'Reillyhas quickly become known for her frequent travel around the world, all in the quest of becoming the most well rounded competitor possible. Rhia is a wrestler who briefly relocated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada to train under the instruction of Lance Storm. During the time since, she has ventured to other parts of Canada, competed throughout Europe, and participated in two live SHIMMER tapings in Berwyn. Next month will mark Rhia's third set of Eagles Club appearances. She will also participate in SHINE 4 on October 19th in Florida.

Upon her SHIMMER arrival in 2009, Australia'sKellie Skatermade it known to everyone who would listen, and even those who didn't want to hear about it, that she was an indestructible tank of a wrestler, who feared no opponent and would steamroll all competition put in her path. More often than not, Skater would bite off more than she could chew, after issuing open challenges and frequently ending up on the receiving end of beatings from some of the toughest opponents in the world.

As time passed, Kellie's overly confident attitude actually began to pay great dividends. Seemingly proving her indestructibility, Skater has been able to walk away from every fight she has gotten herself into, and has learned a thing or two along the way from each top notch opponent she has faced inside the ring, from Cheerleader Melissa to Mercedes Martinez, Serena Deeb to Misaki Ohata, Amazing Kong to Hiroyo Matsumoto, and more.

During late 2011, Kellie went on an extended tour of Japan where she continued to both train with and battle against some of the best female wrestlers in that part of the world. Confident as ever in her own ability, at the last set of SHIMMER tapings, Skater welcomed the challenges of joshi athletes such as Ray and Kana, earning even more respect as a competitor in the process.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/yumicl.jpg

Last year,Yumi Ohkamade her SHIMMER debut in tremendous fashion, against inaugural SHIMMER Champion Sara Del Rey on SHIMMER 41. The match served as an excellent example of why Ohka is one of the top stars in her home promotion, Pro-Wrestling WAVE. Yumi also battled another SHIMMER vet in Serena Deeb, as well as some of the younger, rising stars on the SHIMMER roster, including Courtney Rush and Mia Yim. During those bouts, Ohka put her arsenal of kicks and suplexes on display for the Berwyn fans. Later this month, Yumi joins the Joshi4Hope crew once again for her second American visit.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/athenacl.jpg

One of the standout stars of the last set of SHIMMER tapings was"The Wrestling Goddess" Athena. With her fantastic agility and overall athleticism inside the ring, she has quickly grown into one of the most popular SHIMMER competitors. Athena's rivalry with SHIMMER original Mercedes Martinez helped to firmly establish Athena as a major player within the SHIMMER ranks. Excellent outings against Nicole Matthews, Sassy Stephie, and international high flying star Ray earlier this year only served to cement her position. Athena will also appear at AAW on 10/26, the night before SHIMMER.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/cvecl.jpg

Another of SHIMMER's true rising stars here in 2012 isChristina Von Eerie. Upon her arrival, she immediately battled with established SHIMMER veterans including Sara Del Rey, Mercedes Martinez, and Cheerleader Melissa. Christina later went on to form the successful "MSEERIE" tag team with former SHIMMER Champion MsChif, both in Berwyn as well as on the SHINE events in Florida. Earlier this year, Von Eerie had the chance to step in the SHIMMER ring against foreign talents including LuFisto, Kana, and Kalamity. She is certainly someone to keep your eyes on, both in the singles picture as well as with MsChif in the tag team division. Christina will also appear at AAW on 10/26, the night before SHIMMER.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/allysinkaycl3.jpg

As was first revealed by Lenny Leonard during commentary on the SHINE 1 iPPV, one of the women who will be making her SHIMMER main show debut on October 27th & 28th is Detroit'sAllysin Kay. She previously appeared at the Berwyn Eagles Club as part of the SPARKLE pre-show bouts just prior to SHIMMER 41 during late 2011. During recent months, Allysin formed the "Made In Sin" tag team with partner Taylor Made at the initial SHINE events. We look forward to seeing what Allysin Kay brings to the SHIMMER main roster in less than six weeks.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/tomokaannc.jpg

After having to miss the last set of SHIMMER tapings due to her busy schedule in Japan, the Joshi4Hope office has arranged for Tomoka Nakagawa to return to SHIMMER competition next month. Nakagawa has had some of the most exciting matches of the past several years inside the SHIMMER ring, often crossing paths with her rival Ayumi Kurihara.

Tomoka and partner Daizee Haze made history by capturing the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship in a high impact tag team bout against Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata on SHIMMER 40, only to lose them on SHIMMER 41 to the team of Kurihara & Ayako Hamada. Nakagawa later went on to trade victories with former SHIMMER Champion MsChif, as well as take on Kalamity in singles action.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/kanashimmer.jpg

"The World Famous" Kanamade her American professional wrestling debut in late 2011, appearing for both SHIMMER and CHIKARA. Upon her U.S. arrival, Kana refused to even shake the hands of any of the other competitors on the roster, including SHIMMER originals such as Cheerleader Melissa and Sara Del Rey. However, following an intense battle against Canada's LuFisto, Kana finally deemed a competitor on the roster as having earned her respect, and shook LuFisto's hand.

Through her friendship with LuFisto, Kana slowly began to accept the other members of the roster, granting post-match handshakes to additional opponents in subsequent matches. The two went on to form a successful tag team in early 2012, competing in a memorable hard hitting match against Hailey Hatred & Kalamity, as well as a bout against the "MSEERIE" duo of MsChif & Christina Von Eerie.

On the singles side of things, Kana has faced many of the staples of the North American women's wrestling scene in SHIMMER, from LuFisto to Del Rey to Melissa to Mercedes Martinez. She also squared off against fellow globetrotters Mia Yim and Kellie Skater. Having already proven her worth in both the singles and tag team ranks, next month Kana will make her third trip to Berwyn for SHIMMER competition!

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/shimmer2/mizunami.jpg

Ryo Mizunamicomes to us from the Pro-Wrestling WAVE promotion in Japan, through the assistance of the Joshi 4 Hope office. Mizunami made her wrestling debut in 2004 for GAEA, but would later get the bulk of her early experience under the guidance of Meiko Satomura at SENDAI Girls' Pro-Wrestling beginning in 2007. Known for her strength, Mizunami has an array of suplexes in her arsenal, including a very effective Uranage. Not only will Mizunami be a part of SHIMMER 49-52 in Berwyn, but she will also participate in NCW Femmes Fatales X on November 3rd in Montreal to complete her first tour of North America.

Leva Bateshas made it no secret that she and "Regeneration X" tag team partner Allison Danger are focused on capturing the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship. At the recent SHINE 2 event in Florida, Leva scored a big victory in a singles match against one of the current titleholders, Portia Perez. After the match, Leva proclaimed on the microphone it was just the first step to Re-X taking down The Canadian Ninjas and becoming SHIMMER Tag Team Champions.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa28/shimmerwrestling/gildapasquil/ladyd.jpg

Hiroyo Matsumotomade her SHIMMER debut at SHIMMER 30 in April of 2010, and quickly made a strong impression on American fans with her outings against Sara Del Rey, LuFisto, and Mercedes Martinez. She later went on to win the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship along with partner Misaki Ohata in early 2011 at SHIMMER 37. After a brief title reign, Matsumoto began to focus on singles competition in SHIMMER. In late 2011, Hiroyo battled the likes of Nicole Matthews, Kellie Skater, and Jessie McKay, and also challenged then-SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles at SHIMMER 42, which was Hiroyo's first SHIMMER main event bout.

Though she was forced to miss the last set of SHIMMER tapings due to her busy schedule in Japan, the Joshi 4 Hope office has arranged for Hiroyo to return to North America during late October, to compete not only for SHIMMER in Berwyn, but also for NCW Femmes Fatales on November 3rd in Montreal!

SHIMMER CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS
--------------------------------------------------

The SHIMMER Championship picture heading into this weekend's events is becoming clear. This past Friday, October 19th, SHIMMER Champion SWEET SARAYA KNIGHT defended the title against JAZZ in the main event of the SHINE 4 iPPV. Saraya retained the championship in that match, with a bit of assistance from Jazz's SHINE rival MERCEDES MARTINEZ. Visit http://www.wwnlive.com/ to view the event on demand.

Next on Saraya's agenda is former SHIMMER Champion "Your Soul's Tormentor" MsCHIF, who will challenge for the title at this coming Friday's AAW event in Berwyn. MsChif holds the record for having both the longest SHIMMER title reign thus far, as well as the most successful title defenses. MsChif looks to become a two time SHIMMER Champion next Friday. Visit http://www.aawrestling.com/ to purchase tickets to the AAW event.

It was announced during the SHINE iPPV that "The Wrestling Goddess" ATHENA will receive the first title shot next Saturday, against whomever the champion is after the AAW event. Athena has become one of the most popular athletes on the SHIMMER roster due to her exciting repertoire. On the heels of handing Martinez a loss, as well as coming out with the victory against RAY at the last set of SHIMMER tapings, Athena has great momentum heading into her championship opportunity next Saturday.

Sweet Saraya has a lot more to be concerned about than just MsChif and Athena next weekend. Former SHIMMER Champion CHEERLEADER MELISSA has made it clear that she is intent on getting some revenge for Saraya's pre-match locker room attack which eventually led to her loss of the title. Whether the SHIMMER Championship is involved or not, there is some serious unfinished business between Saraya and Melissa to be settled next weekend in Berwyn.
