Here's one for CHIKARA too. Over the last few years I've only bothered with this promotion when the King Of Trios tournament comes around. It's March, so that means it isn't long away! April 23rd-25th as a matter of fact, and as usual, they've got some fantastic teams together for the event. In the past, they've brought in awesomely unique three man teams such as JOHNNY SAINT, Quack & Skayde, Glacier, Al Snow & D'Lo Brown and trios from Japan like Team DDT and Team BJW. This year is no different.

Amazing Red & The Maximos/S.A.T.

Plenty of cool trios here, but these two are perhaps the standouts...

http://www.chikarapro.com/images/Trios11_66.jpg

That's right. Owner Mike Quackenbush, his boy Jigsaw and JOSHI LEGEND MANAMI FUCKING TOYOTA. Amazing. I cannot wait to see how she will fit in along side all these indy stalwarts. She is a pretty massive star so it's quite impressive that Quack was able to bring her in.

http://www.chikarapro.com/images/Trios11_10.jpg

Team Michinoku Pro! Dick Togo, Great Sasuke & Jinsei Shinzaki (Hakushi). What a team! Legends of MPro and should be a real highlight of the tournament.

I love that you're doing these threads, by the way.

If you do a Shimmer one, I will rep you half to death.

AND FUCK YES Manami Toyota. They got her for a weekend of shows early in the year but nobody expected her to actually come back, so that's exciting as fuck.

I loved Chikara's Torneo Cibernetico (sp?) from 2005/6 sometime around then - which featured Mike Quack, Claudio C and the greatest Hurricanrana of all time - far more than you'd expect for a big match where I only knew about 3 guys out of 18.

It really is cool. Give me Manami Toyota vs. Johnny Saint at some point in the future and my life will be complete.

Oh, and you might as well go ahead with a nice big shiny new SHIMMER mega-thread. I don't think I've checked out anything from that promotion aside from the SHIMMER title matches that they've featured on ROH shows in the past. So beyond MsChif, Sara Del Ray and so forth I know next to nothing about it. I'm certainly up for giving it a go though

JOHNNY SAINT IS STILL WRESTLING???????

Amazingly, yes. He was part of the King Of Trios in 2009 alongside Quack & Skayde and the match they had with Danielson, Claudio & DAVE TAYLOR was completely amazing. He also put on a WRESTLING CLINIC in one of my favourite indy matches from that year against Quackenbush in wXw in Germany. A 66 year old (as he was then) featuring prominently in two genuinely good wrestling matches in one year is quite the feat!

There I was, checking out the Tag-Team Reboot thread, and asked a SIMPLE QUESTION about which Chikara DVD is worth picking up (as if it weren't relevant to the WWE's tag division) and people had the GALL to suggest that I take it to the actual Chikara thread!

Oh...

Right, cool. Didn't see we had that (Oh um...maybe use the search function...)

Any suggestions on a good place to start? I'm loving their comedic elements from what I've seen on Youtube.

Please remember when preparing a sarcastic retort to this post that I am a spastic.

King of Trio's is quality, it's the 3 night tournament shown in the first post by Ringo. 16 trio's compete in a single eliminated tournament, along with plenty of other matches over the 3 nights.

Yeah, definitely one of the King Of Trios. There's always something for everyone in there. Plenty of comedy, good wrestling, indy superstars, old favourites and the odd :wtf: appearance.

Everyone from Glacier to Demolition to Johnny Saint has popped up at some point.

Watched King of Trios NIGHT ONE (available on all the usual wrestling torrent sites of course) and it was an absolute blast. Apparently Night 2 is better and Night 3 is one of the best shows in Chikara history with an electric crowd, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'd recommend Night One to everyone though, because there's lots of variety and given the inclusion of familiar faces like Meng, the Powers of Pain, Waltman, Aldo Montoya, Tatanka, Dreamer, Scorpio, Lynn and spoiler: TITO SANTANA, it could serve as a good introduction to those who have no previous experience with Chikara as a promotion. There's plenty of great comedy (Ebessan and Kikutaro!), legends, female wrestlers are included in the mix, all the usual Chikara faces. Generally great fun, as one might expect.

The teams for this year's tournament, by the way:

The Batiri (Kobald, Kodama and Obariyon)
The Colony (assailANT, Fire Ant and Green Ant)
The Extreme Trio (Jerry Lynn, Tommy Dreamer and Too Cold Scorpio)
The Faces of Pain (The Barbarian, Meng and The Warlord)
F.I.S.T. (Chuck Taylor, Icarus and Johnny Gargano)
Gran Akuma, Scott Parker and Shane Matthews
Jigsaw, Manami Toyota and Mike Quackenbush
This team was a surprise which adds to the fun! Mihara, The Mysterious and Handsome Stranger and Tito Santana
The Spectral Envoy (Frightmare, Hallowicked and UltraMantis Black)
The Swarm (combatANT, deviANT and Soldier Ant)
Team JWP (Command Bolshoi, Kaori Yoneyama and Tsubasa Kuragaki)
Team Osaka Pro (Ebessan, Kikutaro and Takoyakida)
Team Ring of Honor (Matt Jackson, Mike Bennett and Nick Jackson)
Team Sendai Girls (Dash Chisako, Meiko Satomura and Sendai Sachiko)
Team WWF (1-2-3 Kid, Aldo Montoya and Tatanka)
The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield, Mark Angelosetti and Matt Classic)

I got this in the mail Friday. Each night is separated into two discs. I'm down to the second disc of the 3rd night. I agree with most of what Ringo has stated. I can't speak to night three being the best in Chikara history(I'm just getting into this promotion), but it has been really good through the first disc. They were $15 each, and as the set I feel it was well worth my purchase.

Yep. 2012 King Of Trios all 3 nights were the first Chikara shows I'd ever seen. Great introduction as all the familiar faces helped grab my attention, and let me give all the not-so-familiars a chance. I REALLY enjoyed all three shows and am glad I watched them. I decided to as my friend Heather is into Chikara and wants us to go on March 9th to their show in Orlando... I wasn't too sure if I wanted to so I watched those shows and that made my decision for me.

As long as God's willing and the creek don't rise.... I plan on attending Chikara on March 9. Already announced for my show is Eddie Kingston vs. Green Ant.... :(

I fucking DESPISE EDDIE KINGSTON. Always have. I'm afraid I'll slap his face if he gets close.

I blame his matches with Chris Hero in ROH in late 2009. They were so botchy and got to Kevin Steen levels of kicking-out-of-everything and it made me hate him. He's from the same town in NY as me, so I should love him, but I can't help but absolutely loathe him. If I'm forced to see him defend a World Title in a show I'm paying to see.... well then I hope Green Ant takes the belt off him, the fucker.

Why are you blaming Eddie Kingston for what has been Chris Hero's staple match since he won the PWG World title in 2008?

takerson
February 12th, 2013, 12:24 PM
Because he was the common factor to me. Of the dozens of Chris Hero matches I'VE seen, I've never disliked any of them.... except the 2 with Kingston.... and that was the reason why. Those matches should've ended 8 false finishes before they did.

I just don't like Eddie Kingston. haha.

Oh, and his match in the main event of Night 2 of the 2012 King Of Trios was hard to watch too. So it's not Hero.

DDT
February 12th, 2013, 1:59 PM
Fair enough I guess, and its not like anyone would consider Kingston a ring-general by any stretch of the imagination, but a self-admitted Chris Hero fan hating on Kingston for something Chris Hero has been rather notorious for over the last couple of years strikes me as kind of silly.

Besides, if anyone from the Colony should be the Grand Champion, it should be Fire Ant.

So I finished the last disc on the King of Trios. It is just great. The "Chikara is Vaudevill" video from my earlier post was the first match on this disc. I watched it again, and loved it even more in color. The women take stage directly after this match with Commando Boishoi & Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Kaori Yoneyama & Manami Toyota. It is a fabulous match. Jigsaw vs. Tadasuke is right before the Trios final, and they hold a heck of a match. I actaully wish they had a longer match. It felt like they were building toward something more. The final match was awesome. Jesus christ do they do a six-man-tag match justice.

I'm sold on Chikara at this point. Some suggestions for my next purchase would be welcomed.

It opened with Gavin Loudspeaker singing "Chikara's Just What I Needed" to thunderous applause and crowd participation. Followed up with The Batiri (Cobald is really growing on me, the creepy little bastard runs up to little children and scares them, awesome) vs. Soul Touchaz and it was so much fun. We got El Generico vs. The Shard, and THAT was awesome. And now we got Soldier Ant/DeviAnt vs. FIST, which has been great so far.

EDIT: And now Sugar Dunkerton, the referee, and a member of 3.0 have begun randomly dancing in the middle of a match, as a song randomly began playing. This is amazing. In this same match, The Mysterious & Handsome Stranger's tag team partner is a toy Pigeon.

I've got him on Ignore, so I don't know what he was saying, but I knew it had to be insulting me and/or Cewsh, as that's his new hobby. Thanks Miotch.yawn. only reason for this is to continue to remind someone you have him on ignore. stop being such a pussy. it looks pathetic

i will never be able to take someone like quakenbush seriously. i know it is a comedy fed, with some more serious things (which he has been involved in), but he turns me away from the product more than anything.

It's tantamount to trolling him. it wasn't needed. you said it before. the more you say it, the worse it makes you look. because you really aren't ignoring him by continuing to mention it.

and that is great you don't think he's that bad. nice to know you have an opinion.

I didn't get home 'til 3am, which was actually 4am because the time jumped ahead an hour. I just woke up and have to be at work in 45 minutes, so pics/stories (there are A LOT of really good stories, and a bunch of really cool pics to share) will be up after work tonight. A little teaser? I had at least one over-the-top flip dive directly in my lap, my brother had direct during-the-show interaction with Kobald of the Batiri, and I met pretty much every single person on the card accept Hallowicked and Archibald Peck, I have at least one match-worn souvineir, And Bryce Remsburg, after taking the box of intricately decorated cupcakes from us, tweeted this a few minutes later from backstage...

OOOk. We go in, and find our seats. We are right in the middle of the front row flush with the ring, to the left of hard camera, and I'm immediately positive that people will be landing on us. lol. Almost immediately I recognize Dasher Hatfield just walking about! And I get kinda giddy. haha.

One thing I must point out, EVERYONE stood in character at ALL TIMES, and it was AMAZING. They were all very nice, and almost every single one of them shook my hand and said "thank you for supporting independent wrestling." And I felt that, you know? Unlike WWE or TNA, these guys really do count on us as individuals supporting them. Every fan counts, there isn't a million more to replace us if they lose one.

I let him know he's one of my favorite characters, have a short conversation with him that ended in him saying "Well I'm glad to have you here young man, thank you for coming out and supporting a good cause. Then I got this pic.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4434_zps3345405e.jpg

Almost immediately after that, I recognized my favorite referee! haha, Bryce Remsburg. We of course offered him a cupcake, and when he saw the intricate designs (Heather literally spent an hour on EACH FACE) he just about marked out for them. We took this pic...

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4433_zps847ca9ab.jpg

And he asked us if he could bring them in the back "I promise that everyone who's on these here will get their cupcake." Of course we let him, and about 5 minutes later, A friend of Heather's texted her to tell her that Bryce had tweeted a pic of the cupcakes from backstage! That pic I posted of them earlier? That's not my pic, that's the pic that Bryce tweeted.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BE9iFLwCMAAf0rb.jpg

AssailANT was the next guy I got to meet, he mumbled. haha. "Ohhhh yeah, ghostbustersghostbustersyeahIknowthem." just like that. haha.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4435_zps3abe3173.jpg

I can't stress enough how awesome it is that everyone stood in character at all times. Veronica was SO grumpy, when I asked her why, she gave me a very well thought out (possibly rehearsed) story of why she's upset. Got this pretty great pic with her, Tim Donst, and the Tag Team Champions 3.0... yep... they put their belts on my shoulder!

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4439_zps5d17a5e6.jpg

I went up to Mr. Touchdown, and asked for a picture, but before the pic was taken I said "So when am I gonna get my shot at that?" and pointed at his "Young Lions Cup Championship". Heather snapped this pic as we had our conversation...

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4442_zps3df0b52b.jpg

He said, very animated like, he was cutting a promo on me. haha. "First off, how old are you?" I say "25", he says "I don't believe you're 25 I'm gonna have to see some ID"... I show it to him... "Well OK then, Do you really think you have what it takes to beat Mr. Touchdown?".... I say "I might, I think I have a chance."... he says, "Well let me put it like this, do you think you can beat Hallowicked?"... I say "I dunno, he's pretty tough, tougher than you I think".... he says "WELL I BEAT Hallowicked on *insert date here* in *insert town here* for this prestigious Young Lion's Cup in the middle of the ring, so I'll ask you again do you really think you have what it takes?".... I say "Now that I think about it, you did beat X Pac recently one on one so No, I don't think I have any business challenging you.".... he says "Well I don't know who X Pac is but I DID defeat the 1,2,3 Kid at King Of Trios."

YES. haha. Anyway, got this pic.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4443_zpse4567a42.jpg

OLIVER GRIMSLY is my new favorite wrestler. haha. He is a psychotic circus freak. And he's awesome. Here he is giving Heather a Balloon... remember this.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4447_zps2af8d4ba.jpg

As creepy as this next pic is... it is necessary for reference for my next story... here is my brother Andrew wearing the Los Ice Creams Mask I bought him and his Sonic The Hedgehog skullcap....

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4455_zpsd2748f5c.jpg

So the next match features Ophidian, Kobald, & The Batiri... Kobald comes out... runs up to random children and scares the hell out of them... then runs past my brother and steals his hat, as WELL as Heather's Balloon! He tries to pop the balloon by stomping on it, and fails, so he tries again, fails again, then he has The Batiri hold it in the ring on the floor, then comes off the top rope with a double stomp!!

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4460_zps1e0364cf.jpg

And It STILL DOESN'T POP, but it rises to the ceiling, this all got a huge pop from the crowd, so we're officially part of the show. Kobald proceeds to PUT MY BROTHER'S SONIC HAT ON...

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/1637_168210766661688_796149013_n.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4461_zpsb4d678da.jpg

... and throw a tantrum while wearing it, then he threw it on the ground.... and a security guard brought it back to my brother.... not a minute later, after being TP'ed by some of the audience, that little shit demon came back around and snatched the Ice Creams mask off my brother's head and ran away with it! Here he is with it in his hand.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4466_zps39420536.jpg

He then brought it over to their corner and my brother's Ice Creams mask was in The Batiri's corner under the bottom turnbuckle for the whole match! haha.

Soldier Ant's Mystery Team was THREE NEW ANTS. Orbit Adventure Ant, he moved in slow motion like he was in space. Here he is Running in slow motion towards us. lol.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4479_zps41a58e5a.jpg

There was Arctic Rescue Ant, who liked to pretend he was skiing....

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4483_zps3659e363.jpg

And Missile Assault Ant. He pretended to fly around like a missile, no good pics of that.... but what did they do most of the time? Dick around. They kept screaming eachother's names, talking with fans, running up and down the stands. Pretty much anything but being there for their partner, Soldier Ant, who would round them up whenever he had a chance and push them back into their corner, only for them to wander off again. It can not be conveyed in typing just how amazing and hilarious this was. You HAVE to buy the DVD. Here's some shots of them doing anything but being there for Soldier Ant...

I then offered cupcakes to Kobald & The Batiri....... The two little green-face-painted guys started going "Ohhhh. Ahhhh. Want. Waaant." and reaching for them, Kobald started sniffing them like an animal.... Kobald then smacked them up INTO MY FACE AND ONTO THE FLOOR! And started cackling like an evil mouse. "Ahahahahahaha, he fell for it, hahahahaha". That little shit! I loved it! haha. The 2 green dudes (Kodama, & Obariyon) were like "we still want them, we want them." So I said, "Andrew, give them the one the fell on the floor..." and Andrew did... and they ATE THEM! Ahahaha!

Got this pic with Ophidian shortly after.

ANNND Oliver Grimsly after that.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4518_zps5f07524e.jpg

I asked Saturyne for a pic, one of my favs she is, she responded with "would you like to buy my signed poster?" and held it up. I said "ohh. I can't afford it I'm sorry." And that little shithead shrugged and WALKED AWAY! Ha! I had already spent every cent I had on a DVD of their event from last month, an Ice Creams Mask, and a Dasher Hatfield shirt.

Then it was time for the show to resume... Jigsaw & The Shard vs. Mike Quackenbush & Fire Ant were up next..... I'll never forget what happened next. So Jigsaw makes his entrance with The Shard....

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4519_zps6a9d350e.jpg

Then Fire Ant's Music hits, Jigsaw gets off the ring and comes and stands right in front of me.... If you know Fire Ant, you know he pretty much speed walks out of the back..... Try and picture this from my perspective..... Jigsaw's in front of me, I'm looking across the ring at the entry way..... Fire Ant comes running out of the back..... slides into the ring.... doesn't even slow down to catch his balance and KEEPS running without stopping and running front flip dives onto Jigsaw AND ME. They land directly in my lap, HARD. But the shot of adrenaline and excitement it gave me was so intense, I was in shock, I was amazed, I didn't feel the bruises in my legs 'til about 3 hours later. lol. Fire Ant jumped up and gave me a high five, then grabbed Jigsaw and the best match of the night commenced. It was amazing, so many cool spots and false finishes. Here's a few shots from it... VERY PROUD of a BUNCH of these action shots.

I'm purposely avoiding getting into too much detail about the matches, as much as I want to, because I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU ALL to buy the DVD, it was an AMAZING SHOW.

Archibald Peck vs. Tim Donst was next, Jakob Hammermeier was the highlight here as he kept crying, literally, whenever Tim was getting beat up! lol. When People were chanting "Let's Go Archie!" he'd SCREAM "Let's Go Teem Donst!" in a whiney tone. Hilarious.

Here he is being sad. lol.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4541_zps245da9d7.jpg

If you watch Chikara, you know that the Main Event usually has a drumroll performed on the ring by the front row... yep. Got to do that.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/takerson/IMG_4548_zpsbbe0cd36.jpg

OH YEAH, so EDDIE KINGSTON NO SHOWED. So at least I didn't have to suffer through his match, but it pretty much COMPLETELY NULLIFIED THE TWO SIGNS I MADE. They didn't replace his match, they just stuck Green Ant into Saturyne's spot in the 10 man tag and called that the Main Event.

Here's Sugar Dunkerton doing the Michael Hayes freebird dance. I wish I was making it up. haha.

And Jigsaw, who among other things, I complimented on his TNA match I was at last July and how much I wanted him to win it. He was MARKING OUT for the cupcake with his mask on it, BTW. And Green Ant loved the attention to detail on them too, pointing out Soldier Ant's missing antennae in particular.

Mike Quackenbush. I marked a little bit for him, haha. told him I'd been a fan for a long time and meeting him was a pretty big deal. He speaks in this ridiculous superhero like voice. lol. Oh, also, had a long, detailed conversation with Ophidian after the show about Mortal Kombat and Horror Movies. Awesome. Everyone was just so personable and genuinely happy to meet everyone, while also staying in character.

OH. Couple more stories. First, Jakob Hammermeier? Kinda sad, he was trying to sell his T-Shirt so hard and nobody wanted it. He was making jokes about it.... but hanging around all clingy-like, it was really coming across as begging.

And Tim Donst, right before we left, gave us his CD that he was selling for $10 for free, I'm assuming as a thank you for the cupcakes, we'd also just got done having a pretty cool conversation with him. He said "it sucks, but maybe you'll enjoy it for the ride home." And you know what? It DOES SUCK. It SUCKS SO BAD..... THAT IT'S GENIUS. A couple tracks are him telling these strange stories, kinda like promos, and some are these horrendously bad and out-of-tune songs. The last one ends abruptly and awkwardly with him crying because he lost to Hallowicked.

The show I went to "The Watchmaker" is now available! I already ordered the DVD. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Chikara. It's a very fun show, no match is bad, and The Colony/Batiri 8 man tag, Quack/Fire Ant vs. Jigsaw/Shard, and Main Event 10 Man Tag, are all great. Watch for Kobald stealing my brother's Sonic hat and Los Ice Creams mask, as well as my friend's balloon and incorporating both in the Batiri's entrance! As well as Jigsaw/Fire Ant landing in my lap to open their match!

and a nice little recap from PWInsider

A little context: Chikara was “sold” to Worldwide Media Development Corporation a few years ago. Shortly after the sale, a sharp-dressed gentleman would be seen at events, observing the roster and matches. We’d learned his name was Wink Vavasseur, an auditor from Worldwide Media Development Corporation. Soon, he would replace Dieter von Steigerwalt as Director of Fun. Clearly with a business background and no wrestling knowledge (he would routinely refer to wrestlers as Baseball Face or Snakeface, etc), Vavasseur oversaw a period of growth in Chikara, multiple attendance records broken and the creation of the Grand Championship under his watch.
Towards the end of 2012, Chikara fans learned that Worldwide Media Development Corporation was actually a holding of Titor Conglomerate, which also owns Condor Security, a private security company whose employees usually flanked Wink Vavasseur at shows. Those members of Condor Security were no longer seen in Chikara after King of Trios 2012 when they removed Swamp Monster from the building. We also learned that Wink got the Director of Fun job, because his father, Conrad, is an executive at Titor.
Vavasseur’s approval rating within the fan base and locker room has plummeted. Vavassuer created a series of analytical formulas, dubbed Chikarabermetrics, to ensure the best athletes were being paired. This resulted in the popular Colony being rearranged, with Soldier Ant being kicked out of the group. Other unpopular decisions included placing Sugar Dunkerton in FIST, the censorship of blogs on the Chikara website, and the creation of Colony: Xtreme Force, which is purely as a marketing ploy.
At the end of “The Shoulder of Pallas,” the Chikara event as part of Wrestlecon, Mike Quackenbush was handed an envelope by a gentleman wearing a hat with NPA on the front. After the event, Mike Quackenbush was removed from the roster page and hasn’t been booked in Chikara since.
Yesterday, Derek Sabato sent out cryptic tweets about an “interesting phone call.” Sabato came to the ring today with the envelope given to Quackenbush, tweeting its contents: a photo of the Titor executives at a ground breaking. This photo is somehow incriminating, or Wink Vavasseur wouldn’t have sent the officials to kick Sabato out of the building.
During the main event, Wink Vavasseur, looking disheveled, and 20+ members of Condor Security came to ringside, causing the end of the main event. Condor Security began breaking down the set and entry way while shooing the fans out of the building. Wink sat on the stage, watching it all, eating an apple.
Bit by bit, the lights in the building went out. Zia, one of the photographers, and Billy Kumohara, host of the pre show quiz game, stood up to Condor members, but Billy was struck and Zia retreated to the locker room.
As the fans were ushered out of the building, no merchandise was up, no roster members selling their wares, nothing in the lobby.
As we went outside and the Trocadero’s doors closed, a fan shoulder blocked the door, breaking the glass. Senior official Bryce Remsburg rushed out the door and through the crowd, still wearing his referee uniform, in tears. The crowd slowly dissipated, with a few fans in tears as well.
Billy Kumohara was the only other member of Chikara staff to be seen in front of the Trocadero, saying he was now out of a job.

The interesting thing is the rumor that Quakenbush's wife had the company in her name, and that she chose to close it after he cheated on her. Probably total nonsense, but I've seen it discussed all over the place.

it's basically a story line explaing how someone could come back after losing a loser leaves town match

archie peck got back fisted into past and when in the past got back fited again into the future not long after the match happened so basically theres 2 archies in this timeline..

i think theres a video explaining it a few pages back

Cewsh
June 4th, 2013, 9:09 AM
It's a work that may or may not be revolving around the shoot closing of the company for other reasons.

And I believe the idea is that one of their characters got hit so hard by Eddie Kingston "Backfist To The Future" that he actually did travel into the future. The new members of the Colony are meant to be from that timeline.

Don't know if anyone has seen these, but a couple videos have popped up recently, indicating a few things.

First, this popped up on Wrestling Is's Youtube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpVSQCpT4yQ

Then, a friend of mine on Twitter retweeted this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpVSQCpT4yQ

Which read "7 27 13", and the description on the video is: "I found something interesting in the Highline Ballroom after the DGUSA show on 7/28. There was a DVD in an envelope that read "play me" (http://i.imgur.com/0nQk87h.jpg). The envelope has a QR code that takes you to http://theashesof.com (http://theashesof.com/)
I ripped the video from the DVD and uploaded it here.

CHIKARA is basically a living comic book. A few years ago, they were bought out (kayfabe) by an EVIL corporation. About 9 months ago, at the end of one of their shows, the director of fun came out and kicked everyone out. Fans, wrestlers, crew, the whole place got cleaned out and all future events were cancelled. CHIKARA was "out of business" and basically telling the fans nothing. Fans speculated that they were outing money or Quack's wife was taking him for everything (not true). 9 months later CHIKARA is reviving, but they announced the return in their own way and it all ties into the overall storyline of the evil corporation. They sold the storyline so far as to send "executives" from the company to fans houses and send them out on missions to find out what happened and how to bring CHIKARA back. It's fucking mental, but Quackenbush (owner) is a mad genius.

Young Lions Cup: Heidi Lovelace vs Missile Assault Ant
Steel Cage Match: Icarus vs Deucelion
2/3 Falls for the tag titles: Throwbacks vs Devastation Corporation
Eddie Kingston vs Jimmy Jacobs
German Suplex match: Juan Francisco De Coronado vs "Smooth Sailing" Ashley Remington
Loser Leaves CHIKARA match: Delirious vs UltraMantis Black
16 Man Torneo Cibenetico: CHIKARA squad* vs Flood Squad**

* Amasis, Fire Ant, Jervis, Kodama, Obariyon, Ophidian, Silver Ant, Worker Ant
** Flex Rumblecrunch, Jakob hammermerier, Jaka Nokken, Oleg the Usurper, Sir Oliver Grimsly, Soldier ant, Volgar

Looks like a great card. I'm watching King of Trios right now to get all caught up and ready, but i'm stoked regardless. Delirious vs UMB is a tough one to call. It happened last night at The Garage. I went to the show but probably enjoyed the preshow more (though that definitely has a lot to do with knowing many of the wrestlers on the preshow whereas I went in completely blind to CHIKARA).

It's the new storyline for the year. Quack picked various captains due to their performance, and they get to pick their own teams for a year long tournament, with the eventual winners getting special awesome shit. So a lot of tag teams were purposefully broken up, new guys spreading their wings, etc.

I want to pay for them, but with 30 shows at $10-12 a pop, I just don't have the funds to be able to catch up by the end of the year. And I seem to never be able to get enough goodwill upload data on XWT to d/l them all on there.
