Brilliant Top Gear. Not just he Hammod crash stuff and it's brilliant final line:

Clarkson: And remember speed kills

*Hammond looks all confused*

Great little show. I'm glad not one step has been missed. Richard Hammond is clearly exactly the same guy and happy to laugh at it. Clarkson has nicely been slightly mellowed a tiny bit by Richard's crash, maybe. And James May still nicely doesn't give a fuck in his laid back public school way.

It's the perfect show because it has 3 perfect presenters, all funny and they all play off each other so well. You can tell they are proper mates

Hobbit
January 28th, 2007, 5:13 PM
For fuck's sake that was such a good episode. At the risk of sounding like a wanker, the camerawork for the show is nothing sort of stunning, and the soundtrack also immense, Hendrix + a sexed up super Jag = ratings

His accident looking terrifying, kinda weird of Top Gear to be so sombre like that but obviously they weren't going to joke around about it too much. The Diana gag was priceless

Love it love it love it, but Jamie Oliver is still a cunt.

Indeed. The bit that made me think the most ws the way he said that his head, alomg with the bars was what slowed the car down from 230 mph along the grass.

The whole episode was just an hour long film in America, they bought a Car for $1000 and had various challanges including painting graffitti on each others cars in Alabama to get each other killed, including;

"Man Love rules OK"

"Country and Western music is rubbish"

That doesn't quite catch it. They literally had Rock's thrown at them. The camera picture went off line. The really have to run from a mob. Then wash off the statements painted on their cars to hide from them. It was funny because it was the usual touge in cheek thing, Clarkson, May and Hammond thought it would be a joke didn't see it coming. It got really serious.

The show was quality, adventerous, cheeky, competative, full of sneeky tricks (Rich and Jerry maeding up James' air conditioning). Notone has yet even mentioned the dodgy people they had to buy cars from. Virtually murderers. It was maybe the best Top Gear ever, considering Top Gear is pretty much brilliant most of the time thats high praise indeed.

Are 12 year olds right horney bastards like the propaganda would have you believe?

Some are. Normally the chvvy ones. Mostly because a lot of guys in their late teens and twenties in our area in their 20s love picking them up.

I've told the deputy heads but neither they nor the police care about underage sex. Only a few of us teachers and the school nurse complain but nobody with power gives a shit.

the problem is some parents have no trouble with 12-15 year olds having 17+ year olds as sexual partners to their daughters. Heck a lot of council estate parents allow their kids to hang out in the park at 10pm and provide alcohol "for a good time". They will also provide alcohol for their mates, even though they know their parents will disagree. Some just allow anybody and everybody to have a ransom party at their huse (alcohol provided) and encourage the sexual activities "because it's a laugh".

I know from the school Nurse there has been 3 abortions and 5 scares since september. But nobody in the school (at least those that can do something) is bothered.

Not nearly as much as the shit in Alabama though. That was intense TV. I couldn't believe it when the woman called 'her boys' and half a dozen of them pulled up in a truck. The guys were clearly shitting themselves, as would anyone. I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

They cleaned their cars, hence no paint on them.

They used mobile phone cameras instead of trying to run around with a big fuck off camera.

Yeh but why film it? And im sure they have to run with "big fuck off cameras", whether they decided to film it or not. I'm sure it was to build the tension and drama which is a good technique when filming a scripted sequence.

With the cleaning the cars although they were in a hurry, they managed to get the cars spotless. With using just there shirts.

Hope this makes my point slightly clearer.

I'm sure it was so that the camermen could actually see where he was fucking going whilst pegging it from some rednecks. Have you ever tried to run around whilst trying to look through a viewfinder on a massive professional camera? No, you haven't. I can tell you, it's not particularly easy. Far easier to just point a much lighter camera (ie a phone) in the general direction and run.

They filmed it because they knew it would make great TV, which it did. Doesn't really matter if it was scripted or not, it was still exciting to watch and the useage of a camera phone made the chase more believable.

Yeh but they didnt film anything with the mobile phone camera. It was just some leg shots of them running. Also switching off the big camera would have taken time plus they could have run with it without looking throught the viewfinder.

I luv you Hobbz, but if you ever betray me again i will have no choice but to take you out.

They did film something with the camera phone - the chase. You're not seeing this, whether it was scripted or not, it would have looked better them thinking about the 'small' things like not pratting about using the bigger camera and using the smaller one for time saving and practicality reasons (weight). Those big cameras aren't toys, you can't just run with them and expect them to get a decent picture, it's a waste. Far better to make it look like you're in a hurry and to just use a smaller camera. Think Blair Witch Project.

How am I betraying you you silly cunt?

You do know its scripted? (With the exception of Hammond's crash.)
:dunno: As others have said, that part seemed exceptionally well done if it was scripted. I'd be more inclined to say it wasn't purely down to the look of fear on Hammond's face if nothing else.

If it was scripted though I wouldn't really care - they should do it like that more often. Recent scripted moments have just been ridiculous, whereas that was realistic. Even more props to them if it was.

A secret of the indusctry. Coke.

It's great clealing things perfectly. No streaks, all of it dissolved.

Look at blackboards at pubs. They tend to be perfect black dispite tons of chalk on them. The coke effect. I noticed they had a bottle of coke in their hands while cleaning the cars.

Coke syrup is actually used in the USA to get gum off roads.
