View Full Version : My NBA Career (I Must Be Mental!)

Sancty
May 23rd, 2006, 9:18 PM
Allright... I'm having a blast doing the NHL career... so why not an NBA career..

One slight problem..

I only have NBA Live 2005... but I figure it'll do... I've been looking through the system, and it'll work out nicely...

I'm gonna have the system do a full fantasy draft at the start... so every facet of who ends up where is random.. heck, two of us may end up on the same team...

Ready?

Here's what I need....

Name:
Height: 5'4'' - 7'6''
Weight:
Jersey Number:

City and Country/State of Birth

Position: Both a Primary and a backup position... list the PRIMARY first followed by the SECONDARY

Either Point Guard (PG-think Steve Nash), Shooting Guard (SG-think Michael Jordan), Small Forward (SF-Think early days Vince Carter), Power Forward (PF-Think Rasheed Wallace, Dirk Nowitski), or Center (C-Think Shaq, Ben Wallace)

Jersey Number and U.S. College Attended...(Certain world nations are allowed instead of US College...i.e. Croatia/Australia... but Canada is not!)

As far as the Player Ratings, for each position here are your options... please list your rating choice for your PRIMARY POSITION ONLY

Point Guard - Either Offensive PG (Stephon Marbury) or a Passing PG (Steve Nash)
Shooting Guard - Either Offensive SG or Defensive SG
Small Forward - Either Offensive SF or Ball Handling SF
Power Forward - Either Offensive PF or Rebounding PF
Center - Either Offensive C (Shaq) or Defensive C (Ben Wallace)

I'll give this til Sunday or Monday before I start it on up....

Hoping for more fun...

Sancty!

To put it bluntly, Boston looks poised to win it all based on their starting 5.. although I do like the pairing of Hawk and Sanctimony in Memphis

NOTE: The following players are in the last year of their contract... Current salary is listed in brackets...

RYAN HAWK (3.57MIL)
BENZ INO (3.57MIL)
KRIS DOSS (3.57MIL)
BOBBY KNIGHT (3.71MIL)
DAVE MARTIN (3.71MIL)
SLIM SHADY (3.57MIL)
JACQUE JONES (3.48MIL)
STEVE M (3.57MIL)

The UTAH JAZZ are the NBA's biggest violators of the Salary Cap, coming in over 32Million over the cap!... the PHOENIX SUNS still have 9million to play with if they so choose.

That's it for tonight... first update.. tomorrow maybe

Damn, I really wanted to be on the Lakers, but if you cant be on the Lakers, I guess the next best thing is to be on the Clippers. I wonder if playing in front of my hometown will affect my stats or anything. How ironic that Kobe is on the Heat. Cant wait to shut him down. I agree with everyone else, Boston looks like the favorite.

OTHER NEWS

It's absolutely crazy that pre-season favourites Boston Celtics are 1-4 out of the gate, and sit in the basement of the Eastern Conference

There must be something in the California water as the 4 California based teams (LAL, LAC, GSW, and SAC) currently occupy the bottom 4 positions in the Western Conference Standings.

I'm amazed at the numbers put up by Memphis' Super Twosome of Hawk and Sanctimony, can this team compete in the Western Conference?

My early picks for MVP and Defensive Player Of The Year, ATL's Bobby Knight, and CHI's Dave Martin.

That's it for now....

I'm Jack Armstrong...

1-7...I didnt expect to be real good, but 1-7, come on now. And this game obviosly has an east coast bias.
I think Boston's center is what is bringing them down, cause the other 4 players are awesome. They should get better as time goes on.

Haywood's not exactly known for his D, and the other four are all very good offensive options but not at all known for their D.

OTHER NEWS

It's absolutely crazy that pre-season favourites Boston Celtics are 13th in the conference and 20th in the Power Rankings

There must be something in the California water as the 4 California based teams (LAL, LAC, GSW, and SAC) currently occupy the bottom 4 positions in the Power Rankings (and that's leaguewide!)

I'm still amazed at the numbers put up by Memphis' Super Twosome of Hawk and Sanctimony, but they're making Memphis feel as if they're part of the Greater California Region with a poor record.

My early picks for MVP and Defensive Player Of The Year, ATL's Bobby Knight, and CHI's Dave Martin.... I still stand by that, although Obi Sanctimony, Slim Shady, and Ryan Hawk are speaking their piece.

Despite his diminutive state, MEM SF/SG Obi Sanctimony is leading the league in Offensive Rebounds, with 6.4pg. How is Memphis not faring better?

That's it for now....

I'm Jack Armstrong...

Worse record, worse power ranking. It could be worse, we could be the KC Royals. Although, there could be a sign. I went 1-7 in the first 8, then 2-6 in the next 8, maybe 3-5, 4-4, 5-3, 6-2,7-1, and then undefeated for the rest of the season after that. Maybe Im dreaming...oh well.

There STILL must be something in the California water as the 4 California based teams (LAL, LAC, GSW, and SAC) currently occupy the bottom 4 positions in the Power Rankings (and that's leaguewide!)

Again, despite a very talented twosome in HAWK and SANCTIMONY, Memphis continues to drop in the standings

CHI's DAVE MARTIN is just unreal!...

While we're at it, I'm surprised the MIL's RIPPER isn't getting more press, those are MVP quality numbers he's putting up.

Who's going to win the Rookie 3pt crown?... both KRIS DOSS and OBI SANCTIMONY have been shooting the lights out, with SANCTIMONY leading... for now.. JACQUE JONES is also on the horizon!

Although Boston is languishing in the Eastern Conference basement. You do need to realise that they have a better record than 5 teams in the Western Conference

Injuries are starting to pile up... this is where the depth of a team will be shown.

JACQUE JONES is coming onto the scene like a house of fire. Kinda weird that JONES and SANCTIMONY (the last two rookies drafted) are perhaps the hottest two in the league currently!

LA is on Fire!!! 4-3 in their last 7 and still #30 in the power rankings. HOWEVER, only 3 games out of First. I love the Pacific Division!

Also, there is another Bright Spot. I lead all rookies in steals, and am only.04 from being in the Top 3 in the league.

OTHER NEWS

Despite his recent outburst to USA today, Kris Doss is not going anywhere according to DAL owner Marc Cuban; "I'm a KaGillionaire ain't I, I can afford to pay that guy to sit his ass on the bench if he doesn't want to play here"

DAL PG Tony Parker added..."Forget Kris Doss, I'm banging Eva Longoria"

So, in essence, chris, much like Eva Longoria, you're getting Fucked by the Dallas Mavericks.

CHI has sure taken a nose dive, losing a bunch lately, including it's last 4 straight... they're looking vulnerable..

I think TOR could do some damage in the playoffs... but they have to get in first!... I'd hate to match up against them, but they may play themselves out of a spot!

San Antonio jumped 4 spots to claim top billing in the Western Conference... then again, me and my 4 buddies I play pickup with, could challenge in the west, so take that for what you will...

Although Boston is languishing in the Eastern Conference basement. You do need to realise that they have a better record than 5 teams in the Western Conference, and ranks higher than 5 of them in the Power Rankings

Speaking of the Power Rankings, lots of movement this week, but despite climbing the ladder in the West and winning 3 of their past 4, the Clippers still hld

Injuries are really starting to pile up... this is where the depth of a team will be shown.

That's it for now....

- Kris Doss was interviewed about being benched, he said "The only reason why I don't want to be on the Mavs is because I have issues with my teamates, and I would also like to play closer to home, but I guess Cuban doesn't really give a shit, and well... I guess I don't either, he is the one missing out on a superstar, or a superstar trade at least..."

OTHER NEWS

San Antonio is currently riding a 6-Game winning streak that has them on top of the NBA Standings... are these guys are for real, or is The West just that bad?

and what does it say about The Western Conference when New Orleans, who hold the 5th seed in the West, wouldn't qualify for the playoffs in the East.

Not to mention how embarassing it is that one team out of the Pacific Division will receive a top 3 seed.... right now it's Golden State with their 41% winning mark.

Atlanta is tearing up the NBA Power Rankings, I wouldn't want to play them these days... super rookie center Bobby Knight scares the daylights out of me!

Charlotte PF Donyell Marshall continues to struggle with a lingering achilles tendon injury, reagrravating it yesterday after being out for the better part of a month with the same injury

In the latest installment of the Kris Doss/Marc Cuban affair, Cuban said that if Doss felt it necessary to mouth off again, he had no problem sitting him down for a couple of games if that's what it took...

As if the Lakers weren't bad enough, now they're going to be without star PG Stephon Marbury for the next 2-3 weeks... I forsee a #30 Power Ranking Spot in their future.

Speaking of which, congrats to the Clippers for trading places with the Kings to get out of the basement in that regard!

That's it for now....

OTHER NEWS

Not much news this week, only a super-promo for the upcoming All-Star Weekend featuring the Rookie/Sophmore Challenge, which will see many of this year's top rookies team up to face the year's top 2nd year players.

As well as the 3-Pt shooting competition, and slam dunk challenge... will any of the superrookies be featured here?

Finally the weekend caps off with The Annual NBA All-Star Game pitting the best players from the East vs. the best players from the west... Bobby Knight /Dave Martin/Jacque Jones vs. Obi Sanctimony/Slim Shady/Steve M

I'd pay to see that..

Until the all-star weekend...

- Doss has since apologized to Cuban for his words. He felt he was out of hand, but he has said that he can come back for the team next year, even though he seems to be feeling homesick, he says he will overcome, and that he is ready now, and he has turned a new leaf

MONTH IN REVIEW
(game date: March 16, 2005)
(if it was a fortnight, everyone would've only played about 3 games)

CURRENT TEAM STANDINGS (note after the regular season the top 8 teams in each conference will make the playoffs)

A reminder, the standings don't always make perfect sense, it has to do with the divisional leaders... in each Conference there's 3 divisions, irregardless of the other teams, those 3 teams will be ranked 1,2,3 even if there are better teams in other divisions.... don't ask!

OTHER NEWS

It appears that JACQUE JONES' superb All-Star Weekend is having an effect on his team's fortunes as well, as Washington jumped 3 spots to lay claim to the 7 spot in the East!

Don't look now, but Boston jumped 3 spots in the East to hold onto 12th spot currently... is it too late for a charge?

Are the LA Clippers really inching towards respectablity?... maybe Steve M. is trying to show the world that he deserves some respect after his total snubbing by those involved with NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND.

It appears that the peace treaty between DAL SG KRIS DOSS and owner Marc Cuban is positively affecting the play on the court, as they went 9-4 this month... an insanely good record for any Western Conference team.

Memphis also busted off an 8-3 record, some terrific post all-star game records this month!... Not so for the Lakers though... they went 1-12

Indiana's season is brought to you by Tom Petty's "Freefallin'"

Check out the monster numbers put on by KRIS DOSS as the West's ROTM.

BOBBY KNIGHT becomes the 1st player to win ROTM twice so far this year. Kevin Garnett won POTM in back-to-back months...MVP?

Well, that's it for this week....

- It appears that Kris Doss wants to trademark the nickname "Sho time" as his nickname

- Doss has reportedally shaken hands with Cuban. They have agreed over a peace treaty between the two, as Cuban has given Doss another chance.

Doss has said "There is always going to be next year... I cannot wait!"

- Doss has also been asked to be inducted into the UNI HOF.

- Doss is also seemingly planning to possibly go with a longer term deal with the team

OK, apparently I deleted half of my post!... ah well, here's the News n' Notes...

Shady and Benz Ino are hurt... Shady will miss about 2 weeks more (he's already missed one week) with a broken bone in his foot..., Benz'll be out a couple of days with a sore back

Short News & Notes this week, playoffs are almost on us though... just like in the NHL, Boston decides to wait til the last month to show us what they can do, and just like the NHL, my guess it will be too little too late (big shoutouts to Canadian Pop-Folk band Barenaked Ladies for the song title!)

What does San Antonio have to do to get a little respect in the Power Rankings, I see a Chicago/San Antonio final...

KRIS DOSS picks up his 2nd straight ROTM award in the WEST, while DAVE MARTIN picks up his 2nd ROTM award (EAST) of the season. Kevin Garnett now has captured POTM 3 consecutive months in the EAST... MVP...

My top 3 for ROY are BOBBY KNIGHT, KRIS DOSS, and DAVE MARTIN, in that order... giving SANCTIMONY and JACQUE JONES respect as the dark horses.

Well, that's it for this week....

Cuz basketball is a TEAM sport, and unless your PPG rating is about 85, you still need the other guys on the court!

Seems DAVE MARTIN was the best pick as a Defensive Center, look at his Offensive numbers, plus his defensive domination, probably explains why his team is sitting relatively pretty in the East

SEASON IN REVIEW
(game date: April 21, 2005)

CURRENT TEAM STANDINGS (note after the regular season the top 8 teams in each conference will make the playoffs)

TEAMS IN YELLOW QUALIFIED FOR THE NBA PLAYOFFS
TEAMS IN BLUE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS

A reminder, the standings don't always make perfect sense, it has to do with the divisional leaders... in each Conference there's 3 divisions, irregardless of the other teams, those 3 teams will be ranked 1,2,3 even if there are better teams in other divisions.... don't ask!

Can Houston defeat Minnesota in the opening round despite not having SLIM SHADY for potentially the first couple of games?

the number 3 and number 6 matchup in the WEST (LAC vs NOH) features 2 teams with identical 40-42 records... ahh you have to love division winner seeding...

Well, that's it for this week.... See you after the first round...

Winning the MVP means you're the most valuable to your team, not necessarily the best player.

This is one instance where the CFL got their awards right with naming the Most Outstanding Player.

- Doss is looking forward to his sophmore year, as he expect to lead the Mavs to a playoff birth, and he hopes to see them go far in the playoffs.

- Doss says that the only threat to keep this from happening is the Clippers. He says that Steve M. is a very good player, and can do a lot of magical things on the court. But he has also said that he worked on his three point shots, and his defense alot during the off season, and looks to stop any possible threats

OTHER NEWS

MEM is finally having the super-season we all expected last year with the combo of SANCTIMONY and HAWK. BOS however, is back on last year's form

What has happened to last year's NBA champs Portland?, despite keeping the entire roster, this year isn't shaping up the same... although it is early...

With DAL struggling early, will we hear more passionate cries to be moved by SG KRIS DOSS???

Will anyone ever be able to match the scoring power of HOU's SLIM SHADY???... and what about the award dominance of JACQUE JONES'... and how did their teams get them to re-sign for so cheap?

Well, that's it for this week.... See you after the first round...

- Doss does not appreciate the comments made by Jack Armstrong earlier in the day. "It is early in the season, we all still have a go at it, we need to play as a team a little more, and see what we can do with that. We can see what we are struggling with during practices. But Armstrong needs to shut his mouth!"

OTHER NEWS

NOH have knocked off 7 straight wins... talk about a return to form!

The preliminary Power Rankings are out... and CHICAGO is on top of the pack yet again... I still think they're incredible, but I thought that last year too... the playoffs are the true test.

It looks as though TOR made the right choice taking Okafo Lawson with the 1st overall pick in the draft. He just won EAST ROTM, and is averaging 18PPG

Can you believe that SLIM SHADY (HOU) is averaging over 30PPG!!!!!!!

On the other side of the ball, DAVE MARTIN (CHI) is averaging 3BPG!!!!!!

With DAL still struggling early, will SG KRIS DOSS eat his words and request out???

Will anyone ever be able to match the scoring power of HOU's SLIM SHADY???... and check out the re-establishment of JACQUE JONES'

Well, that's it for this week....

So.......

My PS2 died last night... so our game has come to an abrupt end.

I don't know when I'll replace it... I'm tempted to wait until the PS3 hits the shelves... then again... I may buy one again tomorrow... I dunno.

But for now... I'm afraid this is the end...

Apologies

Kris Doss was killed in a tragic car accident last night when his beamer exploded in the Dallas arena parking lot.

I was on the scene and caught the exclusive... lucky me...

I'm Jack Armstrong

That was Kris Doss' older brother, Doss hasn't been in a car for a while, since gas prices have gone up. :D
