Pages : [1] 2

Since this forum is pretty much used to up post count, I thought... why not atleast see which movie would win a 128 movie tournament while people post here.

It is pretty much set up exactly like the NCAA tournament, excpt the field is twice as big. I am going to start out by posting the first 100 movies, and leave the last 28 for special requests by anyone here. I'm not going to take requests that aren't serious though, so don't say you want Gigli in this or anything along those lines.

Richard DeNiro
January 23rd, 2006, 5:12 PM
Definitely...

I'm pretty much looking for movies that are favorites of posters here, or are just classics like the one you mentioned. Once I get the list finished I think I am going to do about eight matches every other day. It might take a while, but it should be interesting to see which movie wins.

This just keeps getting tougher - except for two, ouch, man! Also, I'm thinking that if people haven't seen one of the two movies, they probably should pass. There's one film in this round in particular where the choice couldn't be more obvious but people may not have seen the obvious winner.

Seriously, how the fuck can anyone even kind of justify voting for "Gone In Sixty Seconds", a completely average film at best, over what's widely considered one of the greatest films of all time?

relentless -- to me, it's that Kill Bill 2 stands up to repeated viewings a lot better than The Sixth Sense does. Once the secret is revealed, you feel the need to watch it one more time to see how you couldn't have picked up on that. The third time, when it's all spelled out for you, it's just not the same.

I just caught that myself.

Why, "Annihilator", why?

Also, I missed the round where people voted for the exremely forgettable "Hollow Man" over the all time classic "The Deer Hunter".

I'll say this again - if you haven't seen one (or both) of the two movies that you've got to choose from, just don't vote. It's important that you be able to justify your selections. Even an "I liked movie X better than movie Y" would suffice.

That said, if people actually exist who like "Hollow Man" and "The Butterfly Effect" better than "Heat" and "The Deer Hunter", I'd recommend a lobotomy.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: It not be the best in the Indiana Jones series, but I still liked it better than Fallen. I liked John Goodman though, so it was tough.
Schindler's List: The two Towers was my second favorite LOTR movie, but Schindler's list was just a little bit better.
The Usual Suspects: Kevin Spacy is great in this movie, the story is great, and I loved the ending. Sean of the Dead is a fun movie, but not a better movie.
-------------- (I havn't seen Hotel Rwanda)
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: The best Star Wars movie of the six, against a classic comedy. Very tough call, but I had to stick with Star Wars.
The Matrix: Office Space was a great comedy, but the Matrix was a greater movie.
Casablanca: I liked Remember the Titans... but Casablanca is the definative film of the first half of the century.
Goodfellas: Joe Pesci, DeNiro, Liotta... great crime story.
Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels: I liked both, but I'm not the biggest horror fan.

Falling Down - tragically underrated film up against the wrong Indiana Jones flick.
Schindler's List - far more riveting than LOTR.
The Usual Suspects, but this one was close, they're both awesome.
A Clockwork Orange - still too soon to know whether or not Rwanda will stand the test of time like this one has.
Holy Grail - I'm just not a huge Star Wars fan, though Empire was my favorite
Office Space - underrated. The same cannot be said at all for The Matrix
Casablanca - I loved Remember The Titans, but come on here........
Goodfellas - the better of two really entertaining movies.
The Exorcist - again, the better of two really good films.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The Connery-Ford intereactions were great.

Schindler's List
Really compelling story. Great look into someone who did the best they could, but still felt it wasn't enough.

Sean of the Dead
Sean was funny, and completely unique.

A Clockwork Orange
Groundbreaking film. One of my all-time favorites.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Extremely tough. I would either have to spend pages justifying this, or just say that I jus enjoy Monty better. So there's my cop out.

Office Space
Wins on the test of time, as well as the rewatchability factors.

Goodfellas
Great acting, gerat story.

The Exorcist

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- I loved this Indiana movie. One of my favorites.
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
- Though Schindler's List was good, I enjoyed the battle at Helm's Deep more than most scenes I've ever seen.
The Usual Suspects
- One of my favorite movies of all time.
A Clockwork Orange
-Kubrick did it again with this movie. One of his best.
Monty Python
- Most quotable movie of all time perhaps. Very funny.
Office Space
- Maybe because I worked in a office for a short while, it swayed my vote.
No Vote

Goodfellas

Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels

Indiana Jones films were part of my childhood

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
As was the book version of this, and while not as good the film was still lovely.

The Usual Suspects
Possiby my favourite film of all time, and Simon Pegg just irritates me for some reason.

A Clockwork Orange
Like someone else said Hotel Rwanda's so recent and this one has stood up nicely to continued viewing

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Never really got the Star Wars thing, and Monty Pythons fucking funny.

Casablanca
Its Casablanca.

Goodfellas
Definately in my top 10, just a generally quality film, I find very few faults in it.

Schindler's List - up until now I've voted for both LOTR films but Schindlers list handles a very difficult subject perfectlty and is possibly one of the best films of all time

------------------------------------

------------------------------------

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - never been a big fan on the Python films

The Matrix - Matrix is just about the superior of the two

Blues Brothers - Goodfellas is good but Blues Brothers is gold

Special Tiebreaker

Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels - never got the hype around the exorcist

RockOverBoston

I think part of the hype that surrounds The Exorcist now is that from a visual/special effects perspective it was well ahead of its time, and even bad remakes haven't taken away from that fact.

That being said, it was still a tough choice between those 2 films.

Citizen Kane-two classics, Kane is just.... classic...er :shifty:

Apocalypse Now-Yeah, Coppola was good.

Sin City-Devil's Adocate was too much of a Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey rip-off.

Fight Club-One of my personal Top Ten. Plus, I kind of thought Lost was overrated:dunno:

Reservoir Dogs-Tarantino really opened things up for future pics with this film.

Citizen Kane- toughy. Gregory Peck was phenomenal as Atticus, but Kane gets the nod as the more entertaining film. Orson Well's crowning acheivement

The Big Lebowski-You can't vote against the Dude. Enough said.
Apocalypse Now-By far the best non Godfather Copola movie, memorable lines and characters earn the nod for me.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi-Kwai was the better film, but it's a sin to vote against Star Wars.

Sin City-I love how it was done, considering I read the graphic novel.

Fight Club-I loved the plot twist and Pitt's dickish bad guy acting

Reservoir Dogs-The "more" mob version of Pulp Fiction. Tarrentino gets shot and there's a 5 minute discussion on why to leave a tip. Awesome.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-Great movie, plain and simple.

A Street Car Named Desire-Marlon Brando is my favorite actor and this was one of his top 3 films so I'm going with Streetcar. Question: How can you vote against a movie that was turned into a great Simpsons episode?

Terminator 2: Judgement Day - The Big Lebowski is a fun film though

Apocalypse Now vs. Once Upon a Time in America - void

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - no matter how good the opposition is, I cant vote against a series of films I love with a passion.

Fight Club - everything about this film, from the directing to the acting is pure class. Great ending too.

Citizen Kane-- I actually love the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird" and I enjoyed the film as well, but there are numerous reasons why Citizen Kane tops so many Best of All Time lists.

The Big Lebowski-- for the record, this wasn't even close for me.

Apocalypse Now--just a riveting movie which I'd vote for over the majority of the films in this tournament. Not my winner, mind you, but a solid contender.

The Bridge on the River Kwai--this one wasn't much of a contest for me, either. As I've said, I'm not as big of a Star Wars fan as most anyway, but even if I was, this'd still probably be a mismatch.

Sin City-- no knock on The Devil's Advocate, a good movie in its own right, but if these are the last 2 films available in a video store, there's no question that I'm grabbing Sin City.

Lost in Translation-- this was, by far, the hardest choice I've made in this entire tournament. Palahniuk is my favorite modern author (though this is, at best, his 3rd best book, behind "Survivor" and "Choke" -- still an awesome read, though) and "Fight Club" made an excellent transition to film. Great movie. That said, it didn't re-establish one box office star (Murray) nor launch another (Johanssen) and a director (S. Coppala) into the stratosphere. Plus, I think it was slightly more intelligent than "Fight Club".

Reservoir Dogs-- and this one wasn't even close for me, either.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-- another tough one, but this was the better of 2 well above average films. Love this movie to bits and pieces.

Speical Tiebreaker:A Streetcar Named Desire-- those of you who voted for "The Transporter" in the first place quite obviously haven't seen Streetcar, one of the all time greats. It's ridiculous that there was a tie in the first place.

Citizen Kane: While Wizard of Oz is a classic, it just doesn't tell the story that Citizen Kane does.
Grounghog Day: Bill Murry is great. One of the best comedies ever.
A Clockwork Orange: Tough choice... I liked Clockwork slightly better though.
The Shinning: One of my favorite horror movies of all time.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Both are good, but Last Crusade is more entertaining.
Vertigo: I liked both, but Fellowship doesn't quite stand up to this classic.
Saving Private Ryan: The Goonies is a fun film, but Private Ryan is a better one.
Star Wars: wow... Star Wars was just more memorable to me.

The Wizard of Oz - Just a classic, Kane is good but Oz is brilliant

Groundhog Day - tough choice but I have to go for Groundhog day, Bill Murray at his best (apart from ghostbusters, which should have been in here)

A Clockwork Orange - Don't know why I like it but I do

Finding Neverland - Big fan of peter pan in all forms

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - i've never rated the hannibal films

The Devils Advocate - simple choice. i didnt like Sin City that much.

Fight Club - one of my favorite movies of all time beats out one of Bill Murrays best

Reservoir Dogs - Tarrantino beats the first Terminator hands down.

Alien - Simply put, breathtaking

Raging Bull - One of the greatest acting performances, ever

The Shinning - Jack Nicholson on top form

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Sean Connery, and one that truely is for all the family

Vertigo - Classic, scares without trying

Saving Private Ryan vs. The Goonies - don't care for either

Groundhog Day
- Such a great movie. I can watch it over and over.
Raging Bull
- Best DeNiro film out there, and thats saying alot.
The Shinning
- So many great scenes.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- Great adventure story.
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
- First movie in a great trilogy. Does a good job setting up the rest of the films.
Saving Private Ryan
- The D-Day scene alone made this movie.
Ben-Hur

The Wizard of Oz - It has the ability to make older viewers re-capture their youth if only for a few hours - classic.

Alien - no comparison here for me, visually stunning and great gore factor.

Raging Bull - wow now that is a tough call to make. I'm going for De-Niro's gritty depiction of Jake LaMotta's life though, in the role he is outstanding.

The Shinning - A truly wonderfully disturbing film which portrays the thin line between sanity and insanity, beautifully.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Although this is'nt my favourite Indy adventure. I found Red Dragon did'nt really live up to it's predecessors.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - The stuff that dreams are made of. A rpg fans directed wet dream.

The Goonies - another difficult choice, but people are still using the catchphrase "hey you guys" in modern society for a reason.

Star Wars - The greatest example of it's particular genre of all time.

Citizen Kane- Rather than because I love this film, which I do, this choice was made more because gradually over time I've developed a deep loathing for The Wizard of Oz... Not quite sure why.

Alien- Back when I first saw it I though Alien was awe-inspiring, and to me its stood up pretty well over the years.
Raging Bull- Tough choice, but Deniro edges it with his performance over Clockwork Oranges general goodness.

The Shinning vs. Finding Neverland... Never seen Finding Neverland

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade- Indie!... and I thought Red Dragon was bollocks.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring- A moment I anticipated since I was read it at about 10, and it lived up to it.

Saving Private Ryan- The opening alone beats The Goonies.

Ben-Hur- Classic, and I don't like Star Wars.

Groundhog Day vs. Alien
Groundhog Day - Never liked Alien and Murrary dilvered in this movie and made me laugh quite a bit

A Clockwork Orange vs. Raging Bull
Raging Bull - Great boxing movie, one of the best, Deniro is a great actor not to forget

The Shinning vs. Finding Neverland
Shinning - It was a pretty cool story although it took awhile to get to, gotta love jack, Heressss Johnny

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vs. Red Dragon
Red Dragon was good, but Indiana Jones is a classic and its a movie that brings back good childhood memories, and I just love Harrison Ford.. as an actor

Vertigo vs. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Not a big fan of either to be honest, but LOTR: Fellowship of the ring, although probably the worst out of the bunch, it was really interesting and to see how the story was going to be played out, and the scenry is simply astonishing

Saving Private Ryan vs. The Goonies
Saving Private Ryan, not my type of movie but it has one hell of a story line, and really made you feel emotion, goonies on the other hand..

Ben-Hur vs. Star Wars
Star Wars, not sure about Ben-Hur, I don't know much about it, and star wars is a classic and one of my favorites when I was a kid

Red Dragon: Just a sad ending that always gets to me.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Got to love the staff, and the scenery was great too.

Heat....DeNiro and Pacino teaming up is pretty cool, plus it had Val Kilmer. Underrated imo, but overdrawn.

Platoon vs. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Platoon, one of the more grittier war movies...they were even smoking real drugs during that drug scene

E.T. vs. Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon spawned 3 sequels, how many did ET get? Yeah thats right.

American History X vs. Casablanca
Oo0o0o this is a toughie. Casablanca for standing the test of time imo. Just watched it yesterday as a matter of fact. AHX though.

Fight Club vs. Batman Begins

This is interesting, I think I'll be voting for some films in this round that I voted against earler on. Wacky Stuff.

Kill Bill: Vol. 2 vs. Heat :

You can (and should) talk about Pacino and DeNiro all day, but Kill Bill Deuce had a pretty impressive cast in and of itself, and it's really Kilmer's performance that I had to look at to make a final choice.

Platoon vs. Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

This one kind of smarts, as I love Holy Grail, but when I was very young, Platoon was the first reality-based movie to truly shock and educate me. Holy Grail didn't do either.

E.T. vs. Lethal Weapon:

......and this is E.T.'s easiest matchup yet, if memory serves. I'm not even convinced that the first Lethal Weapon stands out as the best in that series.

American History X vs. Casablanca:

Well, someone's got to. I think that, as awesome as it is, the only way we could ever truly tell whether or not AHX measures up to Casablanca is to wait 55 years and see how well it's held up. Gotta give a little love to longevity here.

Fight Club vs. Batman Begins:

Passed on it last time, can't do it this time - in my humble opinion, this one's not even close. Batman Begins makes for a great relaunch of a franchise that had produced some flat-out bad movies, and may be held in slightly higher regard by many than it should be for that reason. Fight Club was the better written, directed, and perhaps most importantly, acted movie of the 2.

Goodfellas vs. Sin City:

Loved Sin City to death. Loved Goodfellas more.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King vs. Pirates of the Caribbean:

If POTC had the same budget that LOTR had, this wouldn't even be debatable. Since they didn't, it gets the edge for substantially better acting performances and the phenomenal cinematography of things that actually exist.

Forest Gump vs. A Street Car Named Desire:

One of the other cats mentioned that this was the battle of "Forrest Gump vs a movie that barely beat The Transporter." Fact is, that'd never have happened if those voting for Transporter had ever seen Streetcar, and it's ignorant as all hell to write it off again for such reasons -- but that's not the point here. Many years from now, Forrest Gump will definitly have endured like Streetcar has, and it'll forever go down as Hanks' crowning moment. It wins in probably the closest vote of this whole tournament for me.

E.T. vs. Lethal Weapon

E.T: Such an important movie in my childhood

American History X vs. Casablanca

American History X, as much as I appreciate it...I don't like Casablance.

Fight Club vs. Batman Begins

Fight CLub: See ET and change to adolescence

Goodfellas vs. Sin City

Sin City: I love both of these films , but Sin City is one of the only movies were I've sat in awe at everything. It's done so well

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King vs. Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates: Based only on the fact that it's a movie I can watch without getting boring, ROTK is great but I can't watch it long enough for it to become my favorite, I only saw it once in the theatre and that's it

These matchups just got tough as nails all of a sudden.

Gladiator - as already established, I'm not as big a fan of the Raiders series as many are, and even if I were, I still think I'd prefer Gladiator.

Office Space - infinitly quotable, utterly hilarious movie, even moreso than Lock, Stock

Scarface - I like Jackie Brown quite a lot, but come on now........

Godfather Deuce - the true standout in the trilogy, and it could be argued that it's got an even better cast than 12 Angry Men, which is saying a lot.

Schindler's List - stealing a line someone else used before here, but I'm pretty sure no one had to seek counseling after seeing "Psycho".

These next two, by the way, were tough.

Shawshank Redemption - it wins for now. Pretty much everyone has seen at least part of this film, and the overwhelming majority have enjoyed it. Gets the edge based on those criteria and those only. We'll see if it'd still win when Eternal Sunshine is over 10 years old, though.

Private Pyle vs. The Dude? Unfair, man. I am going to, quite literally, allow the coin to call this one.

Psycho vs. Shindler's List
Psycho: It's hard to vote against Schindler's List but here I think I have to. Psycho is a great great horror picture.

The Shawshank Redemption vs. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Shawshank Redemption: Can't find a single thing wrong with this movie.

Full Metal Jacket vs. The Big Lebowski
The Big Lebowski: The Dude abides with me voting here. My only knock on FMJ is the ending.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi vs. The Deer Hunter
The Deer Hunter: Walken and DeNiro in the same movie.

Gladiator - Both great films, prefered the acting and superb dialogue in Gladiator though.

Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels vs. Office Space - void I don't believe I have seen Office space?

Scarface - Just an all time gritty classic.

The Godfather: Part 2 vs. 12 Angry Men - void

Schindler's List - horrific and moving portrayal of a man's inner battle between right and wrong.

The Shawshank Redemption - Morgan freeman and Tim Robbins complimenting each other in an absolutely outstanding film.

Full Metal Jacket - A unique film that finds the perfect balance between humour and dead-pan.

The Deer Hunter - I love Star wars but DeNiro excels himself in this role. Showing why he is such a versatile actor.

Raiders of the Lost Arc - Love Indy , hate russell crowe, simple choice

Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels vs. Office Space - void

Scarface - Al Pacino is great and Jackie Brown is probably the weakest of Tarrentino's films

The Godfather: Part 2 vs. 12 Angry Men - void

Shindler's List - Classic film, one that genuinly made me cry a little

The Shawshank Redemption - as stated before eternal sunshine is one of the few films that sent me to sleep

Raiders of the Lost Arc
- Hard decision here. Indy gets my vote though. I can't think of a great reason. They are so equal to me, and I had to choose one.
Office Space
- Once again I just think this is a great comedy, and in my top five comedies of all time.
Scarface
- I could list off a million reasons. Jacky Brown isn't Quinten's best movie either. Al Pacino is my reason.
The Godfather: Part 2
- Long live the Godfather: Part 2. Amazing film.
Shindler's List
- Just does a great job of showing the horror that was the holocaust.
The Shawshank Redemption
- Such a great movie. Stuff like this doesn't come around that often.
Full Metal Jacket
- This is sort of like two different movies in one. Kubrick was a great director and told a great story.
The Deer Hunter
- The Russian Roulett sceens alone made this movie. Star Wars was entertaining, but not better.

If more voters are needed, I'll do this...

Gladiator vs. Raiders of the Lost Arc
Raiders of the Lost Ark - Gladiator was better in almost all aspects of film-making, but Raiders is one of those movies which I watch anytime it's on and never get tired and I'm a sucker for the Indy character.

Lock, Stock, and two Loaded Barrels vs. Office Space
Lock, Stock and Two Loaded Barrels - As much I love Office Space, I love this film's fast-paced storyline and great dialogue. Thought this was much better than Snatch.

Scarface vs. Jackie Brown
Scarface - I didn't like either movie, to be honest, as I think Scarface is generally one of the more overrated movies. But, Jackie Brown was a complete disappoint for me after seeing Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, so Mr. Montana gets it. I guess if anything, I do like Scarface for the characters and amusing quotes... and Tony face deep in a mountain of coke.

The Godfather: Part 2 vs. 12 Angry Men
The Godfather: Part 2 - One of my absolute favorite movies of all-time... although I have to say 12 Angry Men would be high on my list too.

Psycho vs. Schindler's List
Schindler's List - Loved Fiennes performance and it was shot beautifully. Psycho doesn't do it for me for some reason. Realize it is deemed a classic, but I really think Hitchcock made better films than this one and it definitely doesn't overtake Spielberg's pic.

The Shawshank Redemption vs. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Shawshank Redemption - Not in my top 5 like at the IMDB, but a great film nevertheless. Big Morgan Freeman fan, too.

Full Metal Jacket vs. The Big Lebowski
Full Metal Jacket - Strange when I like a movie more than another just because of the first half of the film, but it rings true in this case. Boot camp part of Jacket was fantastic and pushes it past the Dude.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi vs. The Deer Hunter[/QUOTE]
The Deer Hunter - Maybe if this was A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back I'd pick differently, but Jedi is definitely below Deer Hunter. I was annoyed at the 30 minute wedding sequence, but whatever... it's DeNiro and Walken.

The Godfather - It's a classic. I never was too high up on Braveheart, anyway.

Mystic River - I just remember this being one of the only movies from those movie award shows that I actually liked. Amazing movie.

Pulp Fiction - Classic.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 - I've never seen Requiem, but Kill Bill would win regardless. Awesome action movie.

Garden State - I found it quite humorous.

Twelve Monkeys - Had to choose one.

Vanilla Skies - Uh, I'm not sure if this is a completely different movie from the one with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, but I'll go with it anyway because it was weird as hell.

Se7en - Not the perfect ending, but one of the most suspenseful movies I've ever seen.

The Godfather vs. Braveheart
The Godfather - My absolute favorite film of all-time with tremendous ensemble cast and emotional top-notch storytelling. Pacino was never better than his work in I and II.

Reservoir Dogs vs. Mystic River
Reservoir Dogs - First Tarantino film I saw and I fell in love with the style. Yet another great group of actors (Keitel, Buscemi, Roth, Penn, etc.) doing some of their best work. Flashbacks worked tremendously in this one.

Pulp Fiction vs. Dr. Strangelove
Dr. Strangelove - Pulp Fiction was great, maybe a notch below Reservoir Dogs, but Strangelove stood out in my mind. Peter Sellers is sorely missed these days and his characters in that movie were gold.

Requiem for a Dream vs. Kill Bill Vol. 1
N/A - Never saw Requiem for a Dream and Kill Bill was only decent, imo.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Garden State
Silence of the Lambs - One of the best villains in history of motion pictures, played by one the best actors in history of motion pictures. This one was a landslide in my mind, although Garden State was pretty good.

Twelve Monkeys vs. Memento
Memento - Only because of the constant flashbacks and "reverse" plot development which made it pretty unique. Didn't think too much of it overall though, but then again 12 Monkeys was weaker and didn't stand out at all.

The Usual Suspects vs. Vanilla Skies
Usual Suspects - Awesome screenplay by Singer. The revelation of who was Kaiser Soze was done brilliantly, as was acting by both Kevin Spacey and Gabriel Byrne.

Se7en vs. Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now - "I love the smell of napalm in the morning". A different, more hallucinagenic, view of the Vietnam War, with great soundtrack, great acting and awesome visuals. One of Brando's last great performances.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Garden State
Silence of the Lambs - Garden State was very good, but Silence of the Lambs just has more of a story, and has a much more accomplished feel to it.

The Usual Suspects vs. Vanilla Skies
The Usual Suspects - The greatest film I've ever seen, and although I really liked Vanilla Sky it was still only a remake of another, better film.

The Godfater vs. Braveheart
The Godfather: Not as good as the second Godfather. But still a very great movie. Pacino was brillant.

Reservoir Dogs vs. Mystic River
Reservoir Dogs: I loved both movies, but Reservoir dog's was just slightly better. Liked the style.

Pulp Fiction vs. Dr. Strange Glove
Pulp Fiction: Two QT movies in a row. This movie is one of the best ever. Best dialog I can remember.

Requiem for a Dream vs. Kill Bill Vol. 1
Kill Bill Vol. 1: I'm going for the QT trifecta. Requiem was a pretty sad film near the end, but to me it wasn't as good as Kill Bill Vol. 1.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Garden State
Garden State: I loved this movie. Silence of the Lambs was great, but Garden State was just better IMO.

Twelve Monkeys vs. Memento
Memento: Loved the reverse film idea, and Guy Pierce was great.

The Usual Suspects vs. Vanilla Skies
The Usual Suspects: Enjoyed both movies, but Usual Suspects was top notch.

Se7en vs. Apocalypse Now
Se7en: Very intense movie, though both were. They were both very equal, so I decided based upon the actors. Loved Spacy in this film.

Mystic River
Eastwoods brilliant direction takes this one

Pulp Fiction
Tarantino's best work.

Requiem for a Dream
Vol 2 was better and would have beaten RFAD, but Vol 1 wasn't quite enough to do it.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Garden State
Best villian of all time. Silence of the Lambs without question.

Twelve Monkeys vs. Memento
Memento. Simply based on the experiemental chronology which was brilliantly done.

Se7en vs. Apocalypse Now
too close for me to vote.

The Godfather - Loved Braveheart but the accents cost it the win here.

Reservoir Dogs - Simply a better film IMO

Dr. Strange Love - "You cannot fight in the war room!"

Requiem for a Dream vs. Kill Bill Vol. 1 - :dunno:

Silence of the Lambs - Excellent performance from Hopkins

Memento - Hate 12 Monkeys so.......

The Usual Suspects - Clever, and brilliantly acted

Apocalypse Now - Hardest choice of the round, but for the phenominal images used, gotta go for Apocalypse

Requiem for a Dream

Silence of the Lambs:

Memento:
Right now Memento just might be my favorite movie.
The Usual Suspects:

Good as Braveheart is, its clearly no Godfather. Its merely good as opposed to great if you ask me.

Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs has, as previously mentioned got great repeat viewing potential... seen Mystic River once, doubt I'll watchit again for years.

Pulp Fiction
I saw Pulp Fiction again the other day, its just fucking brilliant. No way I could vote against it at this point. Fave Tarantino film.

Requiem for a Dream
And my least favourite. Requim for a Dream takes it, quality film against what I consider Tarantinos weakest.

Garden State

Reservoir Dogs vs. Mystic River
Reservoir Dogs, Mr. Pink's tipping policy and the story the undercover cop has to make up takes this away from Mystic River. The book was better then the movie regarding MR

Pulp Fiction vs. Dr. Strange Love

Reservoir Dogs - I enjoyed both but RD is better than Pulp fiction imo and we all know how good that is.

Pulp Fiction vs. Dr. Strange Glove - void

Kill Bill Vol. 1 - it's different, it's Tarantino and Lucy liu is hot.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Garden State - I wish I could vote here because Silence Of The Lambs is a brilliant film. But I have'nt seen Garden State so -void

Memento - I don't care how many people say "12 monkeys" is a thinking man's film I still think it fucking sucks. Memento on the other hand is very cleverly directed and has a very interesting and unusual theme.

The Godfather - Braveheart certainly wasn't bad, but it's certainly not in the same ballaprk, much less the same league, as The Godfather.

Reservoir Dogs - tougher choice than many are giving it credit for, but this is the better of two really, really good films.

Pulp Fiction - There's nothing about this movie that doesn't rule. More of a thinking man's movie than "Dr. Strangelove", which gives it the edge in my book.

Requiem For A Dream - another really, really tough choice, but Requiem dealt extremely realistically with struggles that people might actually encounter in their lifetimes. Try as you will, but you can't say anything of the sort about either "Kill Bill" movie.

Silence Of The Lambs - Garden State was great, but Silence Of The Lambs was that much better.

Memento - This is a bit more lopsided than a few of you seem to realize, it appears.

The Usual Suspects - I like "Vanilla Sky" and all, but I absolutely love "The Usual Suspects", and in addition to not being an original film, you can clearly notice times during the film where "Vanilla Sky" is just trying way, way too hard. "The Usual Suspects" comes off far more naturally.

Apocalypse Now - Se7en was a pretty good flick, Apocalypse Now is an All Time Classic. Pretty easy choice here.

Star Wars - There are better films than Scar face out there that follow the "same kind of theme". Even if you are not a sci-fi fan, I defy anyone to say this does'nt deserve to be one of the best films of all time.

The Usual Suspects - that is just plain insulting. Groundhog day isn't even Bill murray's best performance.

Goodfellas - Is it better than The Godfather series? No. Is there better films in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, yes.

Silence of the Lambs - this was an incredibly hard choice because I think both Anthony Hopkins and Robert DeNiro are two very versatile actors. Even harder because boxing is my passion. But Anthony hopkins in the role of Hannibal lecter proved something to me which I have always known. 2 flawless performances, I just found Sir Hopkins' slighty (ever so slighty) better than Mr DeNiro's.

I just realized something, unless I am mistaken "Tombstone" is'nt in this competition which is a crying shame =o(

Scarface vs. Star Wars
Star Wars - I wasn't as big a fan of Scarface as many on these boards are, and I don't think it pushed Pacino into super-stardom as mentioned because he was already there after Godfather films, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico and other 1970s films. Star Wars changed the film industry in respect to blockbuster adventure/sci-fi films and is top 10 in my mind. I think I've seen it over 100 times since its release and it never grows stale with me.

The Usual Suspects vs. Groundhog Day
The Usual Suspects - Fantastic screenplay and was a movie I went to see in theaters with minimal expectations and it blew me away and had me talking for days. Groundhog Day was decent and had its funny moments, but it doesn't come close to Suspects.

Goodfellas vs. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
Goodfellas - This was a tough choice for me because I loved the Rings trilogy and really believed it to be the Star Wars of the new generation with exceptional visuals, decent acting and an emotional story. Goodfellas, however, is Scorcese's second best film ever (see below for #1) and it was very stylish, mixed well with a great soundtrack and featured top-notch acting by DeNiro, Pesci, Liotta, Sorvino and company. While I think Rings is the film I prefer personally, I can't ignore Scorcese's mob masterpiece and it gets the nod.

Silence of the Lambs vs. Raging Bull
Raging Bull - The best film Scorcese has ever made and the best performance by DeNiro in any film I've seen of him (in my opinion). Lambs is a great film, too, and could've advanced if it faced a lesser film, but Raging Bull is not that lesser film.

Dazz

Star Wars - The first in the series and the best by a long way and although Pacino is great in the film as said before there are better films in the same genre as Scarface

Usual Suspects - No real build up, at the time none of the actors were that well known and an incredible screen play. Groundhog Day is arguably one of Bill Murrays best performances but doesn't come close to the combined efforst of Spacey, Byrne, Del Toro, Postlethwaite, Baldwin etc

LOTR - Probably the weaker of the trilogy due to the fact most of the film was spent introducing charcters and explaining the basis of the story. Goodfellas has Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci in some of their best roles and behind the first godfather film my favourite 'mob' film. My choice comes down to which one I enjoyed more and LOTR gets the nod

Raging Bull - Not a tough choice for me. As I've said before I'm not a big fan of Silence of the Lambs and Raging Bull is possibly one of the best 'true story' films I've seen along with some of the best acting I've seen

RockOverBoston

Scarface - again, I'm not a particularly big fan of the "Star Wars" films. What's more is that the entire Star Wars series never unleashed a character nearly as riveting, multi-dimensional nor thought provoking as Tony Montana.

Star Wars deserves to have gotten as far as it has, no question. It'll likely win here as well. Fair play. I'm curious, though, as to just what movie in the Cuban drug mafia genre is better than "Scarface", because that seems like a fairly poor reason to vote against it.

The Usual Suspects - I do like "Groundhog Day", but this really isn't much of a contest, and I don't think there are any reasons why that is I can mention that no one else already has.

Goodfellas - I'd probably put the LOTR trilogy as a whole over this, but strictly movie vs. movie, Goodfellas blows any of them away individually.

Raging Bull - This movie features one of the single greatest acting performances of all time. No slight on Hopkins, who turns in a gem in "silence of the Lambs" himself, but very few measure up to De Niro's work in this absolute masterpiece, and he falls just short of being one of them

Also, I've noticed that the IMDB votes seem to reflect that the majority come from relatively young people, many of whom might be voting numerous times for one or very few movies. Scarface #224 of all time, and behind "Groundhog Day" at that? You're fucking kidding me here. Maybe you should consider not using that for the matchups anymore.

Richard DeNiro
February 13th, 2006, 3:14 AM
I wanted for each movie to have a little bio thing, and the IMDB list was just something else to add. I don't have to use it though if people don't want me to.

My picks are...

Scarface

This movie doesn't get old to me. Each and every time I love watching the trip of Tony Montana's character change from the start to the end. There are a ton of great scenes, and the ending is fantastic. Star Wars is a fun film to watch and changed the genre, but if you were to ask me which film I enjoyed more... it would have to be "Scarface". If "Scarface" went up against "The Empire Strikes Back" though, I might have choose Empire.

The Usual Suspects

I really shouldn't have to type that much with this match. "The Usual Suspects" had such a great cast, story, everything. "Groundhog Day" was a great film as well, funny stuff by Bill Murry, but "The Usual Suspects" is in a whole different class of films.

Goodfellas

Its hard going against "The Lord of the Rings" but this movie wasn't my favorite of the three movies. It did a great job of introducing the characters, but overall wasn't a better film than a film like "Goodfellas".

Raging Bull

Robert DeNiro put together one of the best acting jobs I've ever seen in this film. I don't know exactly what I would put on that list, but I know this would make it up there. Hannibal Lecter is a great character, and "Silence of the Lambs" was just so thrilling, but it doesn't win over "Raging Bull" in my opinion.

Scarface:
It had everything I could ask for in a movie... Pacino yelling, shootouts, chainsaws, and a classic ending. Star Wars was good though, just not quite up to Scarface.

The Usual Suspects:
What can I say that hasn't been said before? One of the best movies ever.

Goodfellas:
Like a lot of people said before. Lord of the Rings was a great trilogy, and together they were better than Goodfellas. But the first installment alone wasn't better.

Raging Bull:
Just basicly for what Robert DeNiro pulled off on the screen.

Philadelphia's not in this at all?

That's definitly a pretty major oversight, gang.

I think the main reason is that I listed off 100 movies to kick off the list, then asked for the posters here to add a few of their favorites. If I would have done the entire list myself I think Philadelphia would have make the list. I didn't really like the film that much, but Hank's role would make it worthy of a spot.

I wanted a few of favorites, so some people had maybe a special movie to cheer for.

Reservoir Dogs Vs Forest Gump - Two great films. Forest Gump is one of two Tom Hanks films I actually like, the other being Big, and is more than deserving of being in the final sixteen, however, my vote goes to Reservoir Dogs. This is because as far as I'm concerned this is by far and away Tarrantino's best work

Indiana Jones Vs Requiem for a Dream - I'd like to vote Indy but as I haven't seen Requiem this is void

Full Metal Jacket Vs Heat - Heat just edges this one for me for two reasons. One, Pacino and DeNiro, two, I'm not really a fan of war films

Monty Python Vs Deer Hunter - void, I don't really like either

Reservoir Dogs - Incredibly hard to choose between the 2 films. Tom Hanks is a highly talented actor who can adjust himself into any role and the diversity in each of his performances make sure that the film is memorable. On the other hand, RD is Quentin Tarantino showing how good of a director he can really be and with the likes of Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen and Steve Buscemi to compliment his written plot perfectly. This just edges out Mr Gump on this particular occasion.

Requiem for a Dream - I am quite surprised to find myself voting against Indy here. But if I was being honest I did'nt enjoy The Last Crusade as much as it's predecessors and taken into account this is a "1 film vs 1 film" basis. I enjoyed the emotive reaction I received due to the plot in Requiem for a Dream more than the the expected Indy excitement value in The Last Crusade.

Full Metal Jacket - saying choosing between Pacino and DeNiro together and one of my favourite films of all time was difficult, is understatement of the year. The only thing that swayed my decision in favour of FMJ is the surprise element of 30 minutes of the funniest footage ever directed on any film, nevermind ones just focusing on the military and war.

The Deer Hunter - Monty python are comedic geniuses and The Holy grail is a good example of that title. However I believe The Life Of Brian is on par if not better than The Holy Grail, and no ones performance in that film touches DeNiro's in The Deer Hunter.

Reservoir Dogs Vs Forest Gump - Forest Gump. Gump was the quintessential movie imo and I think it's hard to vote against. IT HAD EVERYTHING!

Indiana Jones Vs Requiem for a Dream - Indiana Jones, action + comedy + Connery = :)

Full Metal Jacket Vs Heat - Tough call, but I'm going to go with Full Metal Jacket. DeNiro and Pacino's first onscreen appearence together could've been better and more epic imo.

Monty Python Vs Deer Hunter - The Deer Hunter because of Walken and DeNiro

Reservoir Dogs vs. Forrest Gump
Reservoir Dogs - Gump would be the Academy's choice without a doubt, and rightfully so. Hanks delivered a great perfomance as the simpleton cruising through key moments in US history and story itself was good with nice mixed dose of comedy and emotional drama elements. But Reservoir Dogs struck a chord with me in theater all those years ago and I still consider it one of the best crime flicks of all-time (along with Usual Suspects). The dialogue between characters was written masterfully by Tarantino and the actors delivered the goods, scene after scene.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vs. Requiem for a Dream
VOID - I never saw Requiem for a Dream, but at same time can't imagine either film going too much farther in this tourney. Raiders was the better Indy flick in my mind to boot.

Full Metal Jacket vs. Heat
Heat - Like I mentioned earlier, Full Metal Jacket was a great first hour or so in boot camp scenes with interaction between D'Onofrio and the drill seargent, but I felt let down in second half. Maybe against lesser opponents I'd let it slide again, but not against Heat. Good story, well crafted characters (especially DeNiro's crew) and tremendous shootout scene (probably one of the best in history of films). I love films which examine the antagonist character and provide many layers to them, and that's what this film does too. Not sure how much farther Heat may go, but I'd definitely pick it over Jacket.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail vs. The Deer Hunter
The Deer Hunter - Great that Holy Grail got this far and it's truly one of the best comedies of all-time. Deer Hunter, however, gets my vote because of the exceptional acting by DeNiro, Walken, Savage and Streep, and the disturbing story. I often judge movies by how much I think about them after viewing... what resonates within me about the film, and while Python made me laugh out loud, I never thought much about it other than quote a few lines here and there. Deer Hunter's portrayal of blue-collar guys having their lives fucked by the war and the emotional scars they carried with them afterwards was highly emotional and still registers in my mind.

Reservoir Dogs
There isn't a thing about this film I didn't like. From the opening dialog, to the very ending I loved every moment of it. This movie used flashbacks perfectly, and seemed to flow perfectly. It's hard voting against Forest Gump, since it was my favorite Tom Hanks movie, but I am a bigger fan of crime films, and believe that Reservoir Dogs is a better movie if these two went head to head.

Requiem for a Dream
Very very dramatic film. For me, it did a great job of getting me to care for the characters, and the ending really is powerful if you get that same feeling while watching the movie. The Last Crusade was a great action movie, and I love Sean Connery, but it think Requiem was a better film.

Full Metal Jacket
How could I vote against DeNiro and Pacino in the same film? It's pretty damn tough, but the bootcamp scenes were some of the greatest scenes ever put into film. I loved Full Metal Jacket, and it really left me wanting more.

The Deer Hunter
I don't want to spoil too much incase anyone didn't see it, but my main reason for voting for this film was the performances of DeNiro and Walken. Christopher Walken is one of my favorite actors of all time, and this movie has a lot to do with that. I even like the long introduction that builds the characters. Monty was funny, but not in the same class as The Deer Hunter.

Forrest Gump - I'd have to say that I prefer "Reservior Dogs", but it just doesn't have the widespread appeal that Forrest Gump does. That's a movie that I can see myself sitting down and watching with my as-yet-unborn-that-I-know-of kids someday, whereas I'd be expecting Child Services to bust down my door as soon as I pressed play on my Reservoir Dogs DVD in similar circumstances. What's more, this is the clear high point of Hanks' decorated career, where many Tarantino fans are split on Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Tough choice for me, but I feel it's the right one.

Requiem For A Dream - While I agree that both of these movies have already advanced as far as they probably should, I'm going to lean toward reality as opposed to fantasy here. You might actually know people who have been through some of the circumstances and situations depicted in Requiem, you definitly don't know anyone who can personally relate with Last Crusade -- which isn't even the best of the Indiana Jones films anyway.

Full Metal Jacket - another pretty tough choice, but when we're leaning on "Pacino and DeNiro together again" as perhaps the biggest crutch "Heat" has got, it's worth noting just how little they actually appear together in that film. Full Metal Jacket is the movie whose imagery and dialogue has stuck with me more, though I'm admittedly a big fan of both.

The Deer Hunter - This is a vote De Niro clearly earns, and it's clearly the better of the 2 movies. Holy Grail cracks me up and all, but it really just doesn't compare. It can be argued that this film really made both Walken and Streep megastars. That's huge.

Richard DeNiro

Forest Gump - Tom Hanks was brillant in this movie. Out of both of these movies, Forest Gump will probably stand the test of time better, and will still be talked about a long time down the road. Reservoir Dogs was great, really great if you consider the low budget, but it wasn't the better movie.

Requiem for a Dream - I agree that neither of these films should make the final 16, but if one had to I would have to choose Reqium for a Dream. I liked both movies, but I think Requiem was a better story.

Full Metal Jacket - Heat was a really good movie, but it just isn't as good as Full Metal Jacket. Everyone pretty much went over how great the boot camp scenes were, and then if thats not enough... the part where they are actually in the war is great as well.

The Deer Hunter - Very easy choice for me. One of the best movies I've ever seen, with some of the best acting I've ever seen. It's just amazing how great Walken and DeNiro do in this movie.

Wizard of Oz V Shawshank Redemption - This is actually a really tought choice. In The Wizard of OZ we have one of the best musical films ever. Ask anyone and they will have seen this during their child hood. In Shawshank Redemption we have a film based on a true story depicting the struggles in an American prison and an absoluetly breathtaking performance from Morgan Freeman. My votes going to have to go to The Wizard of Oz though purely because I enjoyed this film slightly more.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels V The Godfther - Again another difficult match up, but then at this stage all of them will be. I think I'll have to swing in favour of The Godfather though. Mainly based on the fact it is one of the greatest films of all time and has garnered a much larger following than Lock, Stock. Not taking anything away from Lock, Stock as it was a brilliant film but it isn't quite on the same level as The Godfather

E.T. V Schindler's List - Although this may be quite a close match up for some people it's quite a mis match for me. I'm voting for Schindler's List. I saw this for the first time in a history lesson at school to show us what happened during the holocaust and it actually brought home the impact of what occured. E.T. although a good film never really appealed to me much however.

Memento V Pirates of the Caribbean - Memento, a completely original film with an original concept that no-one has come close to matching since. It's a film that really makes you think and forces you to watch every second to make sure you know what's going on. Add to that a brilliant cast (Pearce, Moss, Pantoliano) and this is one hell of a film. PotC again has a brilliant cast (Depp, Rush, Bloom, Knightley) and again has a brilliant storyline. It sets out to be nothing more than an enjoyable film and it achieves it perfectly, and what other film can claim to have Johnny Depp doing a two hour Keith Richards impersination? Again another tough call and again I'm going to have to base it on which one I enjoyed more and that is only just Pirates of the Caribbean

The Shawshank Redemption
While the Wizard of Oz might be one of the best musicals of all time, it's just not a movie I would really want to sit down and watch at any point in the future. When I was a kid though I really enjoyed it however. The Shawshank Redemption is a movie I could probably watch over and over again because of the great performances by the lead actors in the film.

The Godfather
Tough choice for me here. If it were Godfather Part: 2 it would be a lock, but these two movies are actually pretty close for me. I'm going for the Godfather because Pacino did a great job acting, not to mention Brando and his signature Godfather voice.

Schindler's List
I never really liked E.T. plus Schindler's List is a great great film. Add those two things together and my decision is easy.

Memento
Both movies had great casts, and great performances by the leading actor. I just liked Memento because the backwards style made the first time watching it one of the best movie watching experences I've ever seen. It has a lot of value for replaying it as well.

The Godfather. Honestly, LS+2SB didn't blow me away. I'm shocked it made it this far.

Schindler's List. One of the greatest films ever made with better acting surrounding a very non-fiction based event.

Wizard of Oz - Although I prefer Shawshank, Oz's appeal can't be ignored. For a movie filmed in late 30s(!) it still holds up well when it plays on local TV stations and people still love it. I would imagine it'd be extremely difficult for a 70-year old movie to still enthrall new viewers, but Oz does.

The Godfather - Like I mentioned earlier, this is the best film I've ever seen with quality across the board in terms of story, directing, acting, cinematogrophy, etc. It featured the best character, too, in Michael Corleone, who's storyline arc was done brilliantly throughout the trilogy.

Schindler's List - Like seeing Spielberg vs Spielberg here, but it's gotta be Schindler's List hands down, for its showcase of one of mankind's black eyes. Great cast and beautiful b/w shots.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Neither film probably deserves to be this far, so I'll just pick the one I enjoyed more and will expect it to get knocked out next round.

Schindler's list - harrowing portrayal of a man and his conscience in an epic battle of right and wrong. If E.T made you cry? This will break your heart.

Pulp Fiction
In my top three movies of all time easily. Even if someone were to lock me into a room, and force me to watch this for weeks on end... I might not get sick of it. The music is top notch, the acting is top notch, the story is top notch, the directing is top notch. It's funny when it has to be, and serious when it's needed. Raiders of the Lost Ark is amazing, but not close to Pulp Fiction.

The Godfather: Part 2
The is near the top of my list as well. Richard DeNiro does a great job as Vito, and Pacino once again pulls of what he did in the first movie. The time just flies by when I watch this movie, even if it is so long. The Shinning is one of the best Horror movies of all time, and had Jack's best performance I've seen, but it wasn't quite as good. It's a shame they met up here, as I think both movies are worthy of moving on.

Saving Private Ryan
Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors, but I have to give the vote to Saving Private Ryan for how real they portrayed war in the movie, and the D-Day invasion.

Fightclub
I wanted both of these movies to move on as well. I liked both about the same, but chose Fightclub just based upon Edward Norton and Brad Pitt's performance in them. Brad Pitt was better in Fight Club than he was in Se7en. Both movies had great endings, and though Se7en had a better ending, Fight Club just edged it out.

Pulp Fiction - The role that revived the career of John Travolta. Fantastic casting and a terriffic script. The ensemble of Travolta, Jackson, Willis, Thurman, Walken, Rhames, Keitel and Arquette is simply breathtaking. Incredible direction.

Godfather Pt 2 - I loved The Shining and it was possibly the greatest horror film of all time, but The Godfather Part 2 is possibly the greatest film of all time of any genre.

American History X - I loved Saving Private Ryan but Edward Nortons breakthrough performance in this film is simply brilliant, it tackles a very very controversial issue, and actually allows you to empathize with the Neo-Nazi's. The speech that Edward Norton gives before they vandalize the grocery store is spellbinding. Incredible direction and breathtaking ending. Fantastic pairing and AHX should get the nod here.

Fight Club - Only the performances of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton can top the performances of Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. I am a freak for both of these films and I consider both of them to be in the top 5 films of all time, but Fight Club will nudge out Se7en

Memento in this situation has the superior plot and absolutely superb acting and direction. The method of storytelling in Memento is nothing less than phenomenal.

Fight Club - Fight Club is a combination of 2 of the greatest actors to ever live in one of the most psychological movies of all time. Fantastic script and interaction with the audience. The Godfather is a great film, but Fight Club will edge it out.

The Godfather Pt 2 - Unfortunately for The Wizard of Oz, it shouldn't have the ability to be considered a better film than The Godfather pt 2. The Wizard of Oz is a fantastic family film with a great soundtrack and good theme. The Godfather pt 2 is so much more of a realistic film that tells such a good story about family.

Any chance that we can get some more voters in here? I am very anxious to see how this thing ends and it would be a shame for it to die now after it has come so far.
