My guess would be because it's hard to find women like Beth who can be hot and a beast at the same time. Women like Kong would never fit the WWE's image.

Which is strange, because with male heels they have no problem focusing on how ugly they are in order to get them heat (Snitsky, Kane) but when it comes to the women EVERYONE has to be smoking hot.

My point should have been what is wrong with having 1 or 2 divas purposfully NOT there to fit the mold...But to cause total destruction?

And history has shown when a beastly woman destroys a pretty face, it gets the pretty face a lot of crowd support which helps the feud (Trish/Jazz, Kong/Gail etc.) More reason for them to think outside the box in terms of appearance.

I really don't think Jazz belongs in that comparison.

Jazz was possibly the best female worker in WWE over the last decade. She most definitely would not have entered the company through the Diva Search.

They did bring Jazz back and employed her for like a year when they debuted ECW... and she only ever appeared on TV once. That was such a good investment.

Though, I agree with McGregor, I would probably rank Jazz just under Molly as a worker.

TBH, I don't really think Jazz was that bad looking. Sure she wasn't drop-dead gorgeous but with the right hairstyle, she was quite pretty. And yes, hair makes the difference, just look at Layla.

I hate the whole 'she's ugly so she's a heel, she's pretty so she's a face.' Why does looks have to be the deciding factor?

Like the general population, much of the fanbase is shallow. A great example would be when Sable had "turned heel" and treated Luna and Tori like shit but still got cheered over them because she was hotter.

I mean, there was no way Jazz was ever going to be cheered for beating up pretty Trish. And unlike Beth Phoenix, who is portrayed as glamorous and strong, Jazz did seemingly go out of her way to make herself look ugly on TV. In photoshoots, I actually thought she was alright. I wouldn't say she was "hot," but she certainly looked better than her on-air appearance suggested.
