Man, going back over this thread I'm reminded of how much of a cunt Brent is.

I know this is a thread for movie soundtracks, but the TV show House ALWAYS has fantastic music on it. This season's premiere in the mental hospital is a prime example.

No Surprises was a lovely pick for the opening.

There is a Golden State coming out this year according to IMDB but I can't find much more info on it. There is also The Golden State from 1948. I would imagine you're probably right, and if so, I approve. Garden State was fantastic in every way.

A Clockwork Orange's soundtrack has always been a favorite of mine. Nothing touches Star Wars though.

"Back to the Future" is an obvious one. It has a big bold main theme, and then some quieter themes for the more emotional bits like Marty and Doc Brown's scenes.

"Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" has a great score - the way it switches between the Kirk/Enterprise and Khan/Reliant themes is brilliant. There's a great shot where you see the Enterprise below Regula and the sweeping, grandiose Trek theme is playing. Then as the camera passes over the planet and the Reliant is revealed in orbit on the other side, it changes to Khan's foreboding, swelling violin. One of those scores where, when I hear a particular cue, I can instantly picture exactly what the character or ship is doing at that moment in the film.

Mark Mancina's score for "Bad Boys" is a good one - the "Footchase" track is absolutely fantastic, and never fails to get me pumped up. Someone on Amazon described it as a dangerous song to drive to. The main theme is used in a lot of different ways, and there's the big melodramatic cues for the typical Bayhem. Mark Mancina also did "Speed" - lovely music when Jack and Annie escape the bus and zoon across the runway on the floor panel.

In terms of films with songs, I think "Anchorman" would be high on the list. The CD comes with Ron Burgundy giving a usually off-topic introduction (filled with anecdotes) to each song, as well as getting attacked by a dog in his bath.

I've always been partial to the soundtrack for Trainspotting. It seems to have a song for every situation.
